I'm always excited to try out new vegetarian restaurants and have high hopes that the food will be tasty and flavorful, but often times this isn't the case. Located on Jupiter Street with an entrance that doesn't face the street head on, you can easily miss this place. That would be a grave mistake. It's a quaint little place, almost like a cottage. There are a few tables so you almost feel like you're dining at someone's home and the staff make you feel that way.
This place has such a wide variety of items to choose from with dishes from Asia to Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. There are vegan options, gluten free options and plain old vegetarian options. Everything I've ever had here has been fabulous. I especially like the Arroz A La Cubana, red rice mixed with tomatoes, olives, tofu, fried bananas and raisins. It sounds a bit weird and simple, but I assure you it's worth trying. Don't forget to add an egg! The Bibimbap is delicious. I get it quite often because it fulfills my need for a bowl full of veggies, a bit of spice and fills me up. Save room for dessert because they are out of this world. The Banoffee blew my mind and the Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte is like eating creamy, soft Belgium chocolate in every bite. To wash it all down, if you feel like a little more than Organic Lemongrass Tea, you can stay organic and get the Maeloc Organic Cider from Spain. Yum!
Owner Chiqui Mabanta said her sister Giovanna gave her the best advice: "Make sure each dish is inspiring." With such a vast menu you would think this would be impossible, but I tell you, Chiqui is a master. Because the menu is so varied, I could eat here everyday. Lookout for the daily specials. You just might be lucky enough to get the lentil pate!
