Stopped in for breakfast. I had chicken fried steak and my girlfriend eggs Benedict. Large portions that were prepared by someone who knows what they are doing. Friendly staff and good coffee too. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast.

The new owners in 2025 have done a great job getting it back open. Breakfast was really good and comprehensive, with fruit and juice. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the place was quite busy, and it had great atmosphere.

Google
Friendly staff. The eggs Benedict were yummy enough. BUT, they ran out of potatoes so instead, on the waitress suggestion I had French fries. Holy bat eggs! I might have to repeat this crazy experiment again, it was that good!

Google
Excellent food and service. The new owners and staff are doing a great job, so happy this restaurant is open again. The breakfast potatoes are the best I’ve had in years!

Google
So, soooooo good! Beautiful space, great location. Staff was friendly, professional, attentive. And the food - perfect. Coffee was bold, pastries housemade, fresh, flaky and buttery. So happy to have a great new option for brunch on Sunday mornings!

Google
Cute little breakfast/brunch spot. They offer a verity of breakfast options. Great sharable portion sizes. Board games available to play to while you wait for your food. One star because for some reason when we visited it was colder inside than outside. Restroom is gender neutral. There was a space heater but it was behind the counter for the workers.

Google
Slow. Not the most friendly staff. However, the food and the coffee were both excellent. The place is clean, although it feels a little up-tight and not comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place if you are not short on time or money. The harvest muffins are delicious.

Google
They only offer eggs 3 ways, medium, hard or scrambled but I asked for wet scrambled and they accommodated beautifully. Kind accommodating waitstaff. Simple delicious food. Thank you, I’ll be back

Yelp
New owners, great fresh food. I had a wonderful salmon salad for lunch. The new owners just re-opened with a new menu, new vibe. Great food, very friendly. Good people trying to make good food for the community. So excited to have a new spot in Dunsmuir that is GOOD!!!

Yelp
Does anybody know if this place is for sale? Let me know I'm interested in finding out what the price range is for this

Yelp
I would not recommend going here for breakfast unless you like runny eggs Benedict and crispy burnt hash browns, and terrible coffee! At first I thought the service was good til I complained about the egg being under cooked. The waitress proceeded to tell me I should have mentioned something earlier. My response was the first egg was edible the second one I lost my appetite once I saw uncooked egg parts! My partner was not impressed with his meal but was more edible then mine! We went here for the eggs benny and was disappointed to say the least! I don't like to complain but when it starts to be inedible... the manager took off 20% I guess is better than nothing, but would have been happy if it was 50% off!

Yelp
Hearty breakfast in Dunsmuir. I ordered the roundhouse pancakes with scrambled eggs and sausage. Everything was fresh and tasty. Portions were large and I walked away satisfied.

Yelp
Went there yesterday for breakfast and really sorry I did. Seems like anything you order comes with an unsolicited side of attitude. First thing we were told was that it would take at least 1/2 hour to receive our order in a way that we should have felt privileged for the wait. You must be willing to order your meal in a way they want to serve it to you not the way you want to eat it. I wanted eggs over easy and was told i could only get them over medium or scrambled. C'mon! How hard is it to fry eggs over easy? I ended up ordering something else that was a textbook definition of mediocre. You have to pay up front before you get your food, and they force you to tip for service you haven't yet received, which explains a lot about the reason my experience was so bad. I considered ordering the corned beef hash, except I couldn't get it with a poached egg on top, which is standard for corned beef hash. My daughter got it, and gave me a bite. While it was good, it was nothing that would make gourmet food publications. However, it was good enough to raise my rating from one star to two. She also ordered a cappuccino, which they had to remake for her because they screwed it up. The place doesn't believe in heat, either. Could almost see my breath it was so cold. When our order didn't come out as expected, and I said something about it, I got no answer. After waiting for a response and getting none, i had to go to the front, ask again, and was reprimanded for daring to question it, with righteous indignation from the server i might add (which was par for the course at this point). The place is so bad, it is almost comical. The only reason i can imagine this place will stay in business is that there are so few choices of places to eat breakfast in town...this might be the only one. We didn't see any others. I suggest just eating food from the gas station. The food will be comparable, you'll get it quickly, and you won't have to tolerate a snotty server. I'll never NEVER go twice and suggest you not going even once.

Yelp
We stayed overnight in Dunsmuir and were very happy to find the Cornerstone Cafe as it was the only place open in town that morning! But also, love it's 'local' feel. It was full of what looked like groups getting ready to go off fishing. The fresh biscuits and jam and coffee hit the spot. Servers were friendly and helpful. Wish we'd had time to stay for a full breakfast!
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal breakfast burrito!! Work the really long wait! The bacon version was better than the sausage one. The place is very cute and inviting. The counter gal was not engaging, and didn't seem to want to be there. Very cute gimmick of using playing cards to designate orders!

Yelp
Cute little store great customer service .we had a cinnamon roll it was fresh and warm.. very tasty would go back again..

Yelp
Stopped by this morning for coffee and a pastry. No service, you have to go to the counter to order. We ordered two coffees, a scone and a cinnamon role, $15 for all of this, a little pricey. We paid for an in house coffee which the sign said included refills, we were never offered one. The coffee was very good, strong, but my husband likes that. The counter person said they would warm up the pastry. When I got my scone I tasted it and it was cold, took it back to the counter but the girl said she "couldn't warm it back up because I had touched it", which makes no sense as that was the only way I could tell it was cold. She said she warmed it, but it was stone cold around the edges. So, needless to say they need a little better customer service, but we won't be returning.

Yelp
Four days ago, on December 8, someone left a review probably intended for a different restaurant in another state than this one, which has been closed for months. No food no service nice ambience hope it reopens soon

Yelp
Went to Cornerstone on our Labor Day trip to Shasta. It was supposed to be a breakfast but rolled over to brunch, then lunch. I suppose this was a staff's punishment for being a bit fussy and wanting a table in the shade. We were finally sat down and someone came and brought water, took our orders. Then we waited almost an hour to get a coffee and a soda. No matter how much is the kitchen backed, why does it take so long to take a soda out of the fridge and to pour a cup of regular coffee? We were eventually asked for our orders again, this was much later, when the place was mostly empty and the other customers left. All this while being tortured by a slightly off-the-tune live jazz performance. I'm in the wrong generation to appreciate that kind of a thing. The table next to ours was billed twice, much to their confusion. When they brought the soda, the glass was cracked, with a solid one inch glass shard sitting on the rim. This could have been a trip to the ER. Anyway, when the food finally arrived, it was tasty. The staff was friendly all the time, trying to soothe our wait, but there's only so much words can do for a starving man. Avoid.

Yelp
Yumm! My first meal if the new year! Our to-go food was really spectacular. My partner had the Turkish Benedict and it was truly delicious. His didn't have the same turkey meat as the picture on the website. I thought it was more like sausage. Whatever it was, it was so good. The flavor was complex and deep. I had the Warrior Bowl. It was good, but not as much as my partner's meal. It felt a little plain, but not so much that it left me bummed. Highway robbery alert: the "small" juice was a joke. $3.50 for what you see on the picture. A mom and her child ordered the same thing right ahead of me and his was filled up of the way. Oh, well. I'd def go back, but skip the juice! The service was pleasant. Everything is picked up at the side window. You can call to order, order at the window, or order online.

Yelp
It's been over an hour and our breakfast was still no where to be found, not even the beverages- how long does it take to brew a pot of coffee, and pour a can of soda in a glass? Oh by the way, the glass was magically broken! Quite frustrating, as we planned to grab a quick bite and hit the road before the temp raises. Got to the restaurant at breezy 75F; left the place at 87F (and up) right into the heat wave. Oh well. Never come back ever again.

Yelp
Got one of those breakfast burritos that should've had avocado and veggies it was scrambled egg and tater tots and when my daughter inquired and asked the waitress about it she was upset the waitress and asked us to leave. We had to get her own silverware she said we could which maybe that's the way you do it but I just very unhappy very
google avatar

Xiaoxi W.

Yelp
Strongly NOT recommend! Most of the good stuff shown in the Yelp is not in the current menu! what a scam! I am sorry to say, but at least for its breakfast. Run from this place! Quite disappointing! I ordered the avocado extra for my burrito, and for the first time, I learned that means avocado will be added outside burrito, not inside burrito! What the hell! The food taste is very average, serving speed is pretty slow, waitress only take care of order, you need to self service of water, utensils, napkins. And NO hot sauce! Even the regular American hot sauce. How could that be! Almost one of the worst brunch experience. Very limited menu with high price, totally different from what I expected from Yelp! 3/5 for sure.

Yelp
Highly recommend a stop in Dunsmuir at Cornerstone Cafe if you're passing through! Great food, great service, great atmosphere

Yelp
Really nice spot in dunsmuir. My husband says the corn beef was excellent. Comfortable booths Friendly staff And there are board games if you need a place to hang out during a storm

Yelp
This spot rocked my socks! Service excellent! Ambiance 10 out of 10. Some of the best pancakes I've had at a restaurant. Coffee was good too.

Yelp
Driving north, we stopped here for breakfast. Great food in a small town. We had the fishermans special--cornmeal dusted trout with polenta and eggs; green eggs that came with a really fresh basil pesto; hashbriwns that were crispy on the outside and soft in the center; pecan French toast--abut heavy as it's a whole wheat bread, and some super fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The baked goods were also good. The coffee was decent though not as full bodied as I prefer. If you are driving on the I5 corridor this is worth a slight detour. It's some of the best breakfast food you'll find outside of large cities.

Yelp
Waitress served tater tots instead of hash browns without even discussing with us first & then lied & said chef just told her last minute, even though other customers were being served taters before us & we thought it was probably what they ordered. We were also charged $4! for a "16oz" regular coffee that was 12oz tops & no refills even offered. Waitress mumbled quietly through her mask. Manager or Owner (quiet man in late 30's/early 40's) asked at the end if everything was ok. The tater tots were already discussed & I asked him about our coffee's. He confirmed they were 16oz (?) & didn't offer any resolution. I guess I'm just a hospitality snob now, with my standards set too high?

Yelp
Worked here for about 6 months 3 years ago! For debb I miss her so much! The food has always been so amazing the staff is super nice! The new owner I recently met and he is super funny and out going and doing a lot for the little town we live in! The menu is awesome with lots of new food to try as well

Yelp
We refused to go here for a couple of years. Today we thought it was time to give it a second chance. Unfortunately the service here has gone from bad to worse. Walked in on a Sunday just after 10. We were told to sit at any table that was clean. Hmmmm that is a strange greeting. Two tables were occupied all the remaining booths were dirty as was the one next to the table we chose..or maybe it chose us. We were given menus and the wait staff disappeared. About 10 minutes later a bus boy came out to start cleaning tables. At that point with no wait staff in sight, our butts are frozen to the chairs and we are freezing due to the lack of heat in the building we decided to cut our losses. This was the same service issue we had two years ago.

Sarah P.

Yelp
I have never seen such overpriced flaccid food in my life. We had to go down because the power had been out due to the fires. It was about $35 for two terrible slimy breakfast sandwiches and two short coffees. I am not sure why this place is in business or the people that frequent here. My pockets are not that deep to support this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome place, great food, exceptional customer service. We had the breakfast burrito, a bowl of fruit, and veggie omelet. The food was amazing, the service very friendly and timely (this last part about timeliness of order completion seems to be a recurring issue in Dunsmuir so we were happy to find a place where we didn't have to put up a pup tent and lay out some sleeping bags while we were waiting for our order to arrive), and the environment welcoming and inviting. We will definitely be back to Cornerstone.

Yelp
Passing through Dunsmuir we scheduled in a stop at Cornerstone for breakfast on a Sunday morning thanks to seeing Yelp reviews. We were expecting crowds when we arrived about 10:45a but were delighted to find lots of seating inside and a table or two available on the small patio outside. We chose that option and in addition to the lovely weather we enjoyed live music from a small band set up in the adjacent side street as part of a town festival of some sort. The brunch menu was creative and would be equally as friendly to omnivore or vegetarian diner and with some vegan options too. In addition to breakfast standards there were unusual offerings like sides of fresh spinach or grilled polenta and polenta "lasagna". And as if the regular menu doesn't provide enough choices, there were additional delights offered on a daily specials menu. We enjoyed mugs of hot, really good coffee while we narrowed down our choices from the multitude of menu options. Our ultra friendly server was helpful in answering questions and making recommendations and we're glad we took his recommendation for the Benedict special. Taking a clue from the couple next to us who were regulars here, we opted to share it. The artichoke Benedict included a generous amount of artichoke hearts and bottoms on top of English muffin, topped by eggs poached perfectly to our specification ("like golf balls") and excellent Hollandaise sauce. Thanks to our server's good coordination with the kitchen, our plates were served piping hot. The split plate fee is only about $2 and for that each diner is also provided with their own side option. I picked the fresh spinach, which arrived alongside the "benny", perfectly sauteed and with fresh lemon to squeeze on it. My hubby had the grilled polenta and said it was excellent. Prices were reasonable too. As I recall our shared breakfast with two cups of coffee clocked in at about $18 including tax. This is bakery as well as cafe, so all of the baked items but one are made in house. We were too full to sample them, but bought the last marionberry danish in the case to take home and have for dessert that night. Creative menu, delicious food, nice ambiance, top notch service and fair prices means we'll make a point of stopping here again when we pass through Dunsmuir and recommend it to others. With a caveat on that recommendation for our friends who use wheelchairs. Dunsmuir is an old town of crumbling infrastructure. It looked to us as if accessible parking for folks who use wheelchair equipped vehicles was nearly non existent and curbs and sidewalks were in disrepair in a way that would make using a wheelchair on them a challenge in some places. So parking and getting out of your vehicle might be a challenge. But if you can get from "there" to inside the door of Cornerstone, with the exception of tight passage between tables right at the entry, it seemed all good for equal access.

Yelp
The food was good the beer was good. The atmosphere could of been a little better. I think my sever was new had Definitely been drinking at least a little bit. She was rude and incredibly absent minded. Luckily for my son and I the other server who seemed to know the restaurant better was sweet and courteous. I'll go again some day but I'd rather have brandi as my server instead of Amber. Also the cook was nice enough to come make sure my meal was up to their standards. It was.
google avatar

Heema S.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! This place does not deserve a single star. The service was horrible, food arrived exactly 45 minutes after the order (I think they went looking for the chicken for the eggs!). Kitchen seems to be the problem here. Oh, but the order was incorrect, they put meat when we specifically asked for no meat. So, the order goes back and we wait for another 20 minutes for it. And here I thought brunch is quicker! They messed up our omelette order too! It's like they were trying hard to mess up each order of the table. Unfortunately, we still had to pay 18% gratuity even though I would have liked to tip in negative! Worst brunch place ever.
google avatar

Savannah H.

Yelp
This spot is usually very good and very chill. Prices are not astronomically high. It's exactly what you'd want out of a cute cafe. We are visiting the area right now after evacuating from the fire and saw that they were closed today, so breakfast was a bust. But hopefully we'll be able to have some before we head back!
google avatar

Joni V.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick muffin and coffee, not knowing the prices. What a shocker to find muffins were $3.75 apiece. They were healthy and tasty at least. The wait staff was super apologetic and friendly. High prices for Dunsmuir.

L H.

Yelp
We went to cornerstone the other day as they were about to stop serving for the day. They graciously agreed to make us the eggs Benedict we've been craving! The eggs were poached perfectly, the hollandaise sauce was home made and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. I was so pleased with my meal, I couldn't believe we came in as they were closing and cleaning up and still pulled off a wonderfully cooked breakfast. As we were waiting for our food, we sat on the patio and enjoyed a beer and cider. The manager came out and we talked for a good 15 mins about all of the things he's doing in the future to put the cornerstone back on the map. Volunteer cooked dinners for those in need, as well as his strong work ethic and excitement to work through the recent obstacles by offering delivery. Can't wait to go back, you guys are rockin' it!!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Our server was so disappointingly rude. I've worked in the food industry for ten years, I always tip 30-40% because I know how hard it can be. It pained me to leave less but her attitude was unfortunate. The food was very tasty but my chicken was basically raw and had to be remade. Kinda shocking.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. We spent a night in Dunsmuir and came here for an early lunch. The two of us plus our two dogs sat on the outside patio and they kindly brought out a water bowl for the pups. We ordered the gyro and the falafel wrap, and both were delicious. Their fresh-squeezed orange juice was so tasty, as was a banana/blueberry smoothie I ordered as we left. The service was outstanding - everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to come back next time we visit Dunsmuir!

Yelp
Came into town for a getaway. And. First off the town in beautiful and everyone is so freakin kind and personable. Anyways. Came into here for breakfast and I wasn't disappointed. Everything was so good. The new owner Dylan came out and asked how everything was and we got to talking. He has big plans for this cute little establishment that are definitely going to be worthy of trying. I had the all American breakfast with sausage and the sausage was absolutely amazing. When we got to talking about it he told me he made the sausage from scratch. DEFINITELY WORTH THE VISIT.
google avatar

Gina H.

Yelp
Worst eggs Benedict EVER! I have never had eggs Benedict to were the egg yolk is fully cooked! I don't like to return my food to the kitchen because you ever know what extra items re added! Can't believe this was $12 not worth it at all.

Yelp
My wife and I took our boys to Dunsmuir for the weekend and we found ourselves at this restaurant craving breakfast. The wait staff was so sweet and the food was delicious. I loved the waffle I ordered the best! My wife's breakfast burrito was amazing. The dining room was clean and nicely decorated. It seemed a bit pricey, but it was an overall pleasant breakfast. I will recommend Cornerstone in the future and I'm sure we will return when we come back to this area.

J J.

Yelp
We went here while traveling the place is not open! We were here November 6th at 10:11am. Disappointed they should update their hours on Yelp it said they were open. Waste of time.
google avatar

Yelp
We had read the reviews and needed a planned breakfast stop on our drive up 5 to WA. Delicious food, very friendly wait staff, very reasonable prices and very family friendly atmosphere. I ate the lox on a bagel with cream cheese, dill, red onion and capers the salmon was so fresh and tasted perfect. The coffee was hot and just kept coming, my kids had waffles, the breakfast burrito, and a bagel with cream cheese. Great experience would definitely recommend and will plan to come back on our way home.

Yelp
Newly opened after (I think) some health problems with new owners ; I called this morning, they are closed on Wed/Thurs but open the other days. That is good news!

Trisha F.

Yelp
This place use to be good. Service was unfriendly and slow despite not being busy. The food is lacking creativity l, lacks homemade touch, and nothing special like it use to be. My omelet was served by itself, grey-colored eggs, and no sides with it. My husbands bacon and eggs overcooked and dry. Jam was in Smucker's packets (In a small mountain town like this, homemade jam is abundant and would be special to serve even during Covid). Server took forever to wait on us, and we seemed to be an inconvenience to her. Multiple staff members walked by our dirty plates for about 20 minutes, never removing them, attracting more flies while we waited to get our check and cash out. Mopped up table with wet dirty towel and placed new guests there with menus stuck to table. This place can be great again and we really hope new owners try to make some changes as it used to be a wonderful place to come for breakfast.

Kara S.

Yelp
I usually dont like leaving a negative review but I cant believe what I recieved today Ordered a Cobb with meat well done today. Got home after spending over $16 for the salad to find a few twigs of lettuce and bacon that was barely cooked. If your hungry do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped here for Sunday Brunch before we left to go back to the Bay Area from our Mount Shasta trip. We made reservations, though we didn't need to as there were several tables available at 12:30pm on a Sunday. I had the Savoy Benedict with a side of fruit and he had the Truck Stop omelet with a side of hashbrowns. We both liked our meals, but we definitely had better. My eggs benedict was lacking more flavor (it would've been better with regular bacon instead of Canadian bacon). We've been spoiled with fine foods from San Francisco and LA, so our meals didn't impress us. Cornerstone is a decent brunch place though, especially for the area. The Good: Good, prompt service Reasonably priced Good-sized portions Not too crowded (at least when we went) The Bad: Food lacking richer flavors

Yelp
Was passing by this place on our trip. Food was delicious. Service was quick. Left very happy and would stop by again next time.

Yelp
On my way North, stopped in Dunsmuir for some lunch. I actually meant to stop by another place to eat but it was Sunday and closed. It's obviously a small town so not much other choices but Cornerstone Bakery & Cafe seemed like the only store open and with quite of few people. I got the Truck Stop Omelet. Cool little cafe with great portions. Baked goods are also good.

Yelp
New menu on both breakfast and lunch.Good food! Good ambience! Outside seating is available .

Yelp
My son and I had breakfast this morning (9/26/2020) and we both enjoyed the great service and wonderful ambiance. I had a super wonderful omelet that was unique and very tasty. I give these ladies and men my highest recommendation !

Yelp
Have not been here since I worked for Deb before she passed 6 years ago. On 1/17/22 is my first time back after my grandpa told me how horrible the food and service was I had to take my friend and my kids and go in to eat! upon entering you have to go to a counter to order, the blonde girl with almost white hair is super friendly. The rest of the staff not so much. Menu is super easy to read but doesn't tell what what's on anything. We got biscuit and gravy, 2 pancakes, French toast, breakfast burrito, 1 amerciano and 1 large OJ the biscuit and gravy came to the table cold after a 25 min wait for food, there were onions on top (not mentioned on the menu) my friends allergic. The pancakes tasted ransit like the batter had been sitting for a while super flat gross not cooked in the middle, my daughters French toast was hard not soft like (hard bread) the strawberry's were brown/gray color. My burrito salasa was frozen in the dish asked the waitress to heat it, Ans she just brought another cold frozen dish to the table :( the onion were taken care of but you can tell the biscuits came from a can and thrown in the over nothing great about them. Waitress never came back, no box no nothing to take the food home if we even wanted it. the Cook William Maley and Katie biggerstaff were in the kitchen eating you could see them thru the wholes in the door screen walking back and forth with food going to there mouth. and to told it off when we walked out both him and her walked out the back door to his red car Ans started to roll a joint and smoke it while walking back into the kitchen. super over priced I see why my grandpa will not be back and neither will I. i will not tell anyone to go there. Nasty people (same owners and people that work at the wheel house)

Yelp
Enjoyed another great lunch here the other day. Very nice burger with all the extras bacon cheese peppers so nice. Barry has stepped up his game and is delivering great food. Loved the homemade pickles very nice homie feel. It is starting to feel a little more welcoming. Enjoyed a nice Dunsmuir Brewery red ale on tap. Perfect pairing

Yelp
Wow. The service and food here were completely amazing. Having a Sunday off of work, we looked forward to a decent breakfast and chose to eat here based on recommendations and reviews. SO glad we did. Food was awesome, service fast and friendly, and the extra fresh made apple turnover to take with me made it even better. I'm a coffee lover, and the morning brew of java they server here really is so pleasing to the palate. Highly recommend eating here if you get the chance.

Yelp
Place to go for breakfast that is fresh, non greasy. The food here had original touch, creative using fresh ingredients. I tried the french toast using the wheat pecan bread so delicious. I also liked white mocha here. You also have option to grab fresh baked good and coffee to go if you can't sit and enjoy breakfast.
