We loved our stay here! Owners Greg and Cathy were so helpful and gave us tips on where to go and what to see. Our motel room looked out on the Cheticamp River and the autumn view was spectacular. They even have walking trails on the motel property. Our bed was super comfy and the room was spotless. The motel is literally right beside the start of the breathtaking Cabot Trail. Would highly recommend The Cornerstone. Hope to go back someday!

This was a great place, convenient, comfortable and beautiful setting. It's a perfect spot from which to explore the region. We stayed only one night but should have done 2. The units are slightly older but very well kept and clean. We had a king and were right on the beautiful river. The colors in October were great. Would definitely stay again.

I spent 3 nights at the Cornerstone in mid-June 2025. I selected it based on reviews in TripAdvisor and elsewhere and they definitely earns the 5 stars. The owners, Cathy and Greg, are extremely welcoming and helpful, providing excellent tips for places to go and sights to see that often aren't covered in other sources. ||All the deluxe rooms in the block closer to the river were booked up, but I was perfectly happy with "standard" room I had, which was closer to the road but still plenty close to the river. It was spacious and well furnished, with a very practical layout. It was also immaculately clean. I was especially impressed that housekeeping managed to vacuum up some trail mix that I had accidentally spilled behind the dresser before I could even alert them to it. The mini-fridge was great to have, and there was also a microwave. Plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower. Road noise from the Cabot Trail was not a problem at all, even with the windows partially open.||The location is fantastic. Great views of the hills/mountains and the Chéticamp River, and literally just steps to the entrance of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It's true that one needs to drive 7-10 minutes south to get to restaurants and shops in Chéticamp village, but I didn't find that to be bothersome at all. ||I don't know when I'll get back to Cape Breton, but when I do I will definitely stay at Cornerstone again.

Just before entering the Cape Breton Highland Nat'l Park, we experienced a wonderful motel located at the north end of Cheticamp, Cape Breton. Greg and Linda are warm and informative hosts who have good reason to be very proud of their beautifully appointed rooms, which are uber clean, with great beds and all the extras you might want in your room, coffee, refrigerator, plugs in, TV (not that I turned it on), etc. Linda is the gardener and her flowers are beautiful. There are lots of look out seating on the grounds and firepit & walking trails (which were closed temporarily because of drought condtions) plus an amazing view of a salmon river in the background along with the mountains. You will not be disappointed. We spent four nights and loved exploring around Cheticamp, the shops, the bakery (yum), the beaches and the mountains. Thank you Linda and Greg. We will be back.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Cornerstone Motel. It was the perfect stop after spending the day exploring Cape Breton Highlands. The room and property was very nice. Benches along the Cheticamp River was a nice to spend the last part of the day. The owners were very nice and gave us great recommendations for dinner in Cheticamp.

Stayed here for the past four nights (June 2025) and loved it. Location is perfect. You can literally see the Welcome to Cape Breton Highlands National Park sign from the rooms. You are only minutes from seeing some of the most iconic spots on the Cabot Trail. The motel is also right on a beautiful river and there are trails in the back of the motel that you are welcome to hike on. In addition to this, there is also a fire pit and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the river and mountains in the distance. As for the room and bathroom, it was clean. Plenty of room to hang and store items which was great as we stayed 4 nights and needed a place to put our hiking gear and other items. As for service, it was top tier. The owner was super kind and made the check in process smooth. I was given maps of the area and some good recommendations. In the morning, the owner has coffee ready to go for guests which is super convenient as the closest gas station is in the opposite direction of the national park. All in all, I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others. Great owners and great location.

Great motel near the best area of the Cabot Trail Office staff gave us great tips on how to make the most of our short-time along the Cabot Trail, helping us ensure that we saw the best of the best. The room itself was a bit on the chillier side but overall very clean. Came with a newly renovated washroom, well-sized room and eco-friendly practices.

This was the perfect spot to spend a couple of nights. Just a short five minute drive from the core of Chéticamp (with great restaurants and beautiful waterfront), right along the Cabot trail, just fifteen minutes from the skyline trail and 25 mins (or so) to Pleasant Bay! ||We enjoyed a whale watching experience just 30 minutes away, and took in the gorgeous scenery along the trail. ||Reasonably priced, and in a beautiful spot. ||We loved our stay! The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, AC worked great and the owners were so lovely! It’s what makes a small business great is the little personal touches like an email with local recommendations, and with chit chatting. ||Highly recommend.
