One day simply isn't enough to absorb 50,000+ objects and all the live demonstrations. We are already planning another day trip just to finish looking at the rest of the art and galleries we missed!

We took a homeschool field trip here this past week and had a great time! Our students and parents enjoyed the sandblasting class. The guided tours were great and helped the children understand art better and we appreciate all of them! They did a great job! We enjoyed the studio classes and just being able to sit, ask questions, and watch glass making in action. We also watched the flame working and hot blown glass demo. What a fun day and worth the trip! Corning I will ask, PLEASE add the pinched penny vending machine. It would be soooo cool to have a Corning Glass penny! We like to do those when we visit places!

The Corning Museum of Glass is a unique experience that combines creativity, science, and art in an intriguing way. Just saw one of Josh Simpson’s ‘Megaplanets’ at the exhibition and I completed melted seeing it in person it was soOOooo beautiful and touching!!! I got myself one of his ‘mini planets’ which I adore. That aside the museum is A++ and is better than 95% of the big NYC / DC museums; such a wonderful hidden gem and staple of Corning. Glass is just fascinating and its expressions and uses are wonderful and the museum is great at showing you both the science + practicality + beauty behind it. Love love loved visiting and will be back when we have more time!

This is a very cool museum. There are a number of sections that showcases the artistic aspect of glass as well as the science and the history of glass. It is a material so integrated into our lives that you don't even realize how often it is used. My favorite parts are the glassblowing demonstrations. The glass blowers skillfully makes works of art within 20 minutes and it's very interesting to see. During late September and October, they have seasonal demonstrations such as making a pumpkins. You can even take glassblowing or sandblasting classes. This is definitely a museum worth checking out.

We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Truly amazing what can be done with glass, I had no idea. Plan to spend most of a day to see everything. I also enjoyed the display on fiber light guide. The flameworking demo was well presented. The presenter was very informative and seemed to really enjoy her job. However the narrator at the Hot Glass demo seemed totally bored. All and all a great experience

Glass making and a Lego con! The glass making was well worth the price - Erin was a fantastic teacher. She timed her lessons very well, even including moments for pictures 😀 very informative and her direction was very, very clear. This was I believe the first time the museum hosted a Lego con. It was free with admission and a lot of fun. The layout was easy to navigate. Tickets for entrance are timed so if recommend buying in advance.

Mi wife and I visited with a tour. We only had 2 hours but you can't really see the museum in 2 hours so we took a lot of pictures. We saw vases being made downstairs and a lady creating a carature of a bunny upstairs. The museum had a bunch of different sections. Beautiful glass art. Big gift shop and food court. I would recommend.

I recently had the opportunity to check out the Corning Museum of Glass, and what a great time it was! When I first pulled up, I thought, "Oh, this won't be too long of a visit." Was I wrong or what?! Don't let the exterior of the building fool you... this place is huge! There are so many exhibits to explore, and even the gift shop feels like an exhibit in itself. The space is bright and welcoming, with lots of interactive elements to keep you engaged. Next time, we won't plan our visit so close to naptime so we can really dive in and experience everything. Also, do yourself a favor and stop by the café for lunch. I had some of the best fries of my life there. Can't wait until our next trip!

The Corning Museum of Glass is three, maybe four museums in one. It's a history museum, about the history of glass. It's a modern art museum, full of amazing, contemporary glass sculpture. It's a technology museum, with fascinating exhibits about the ingenious ways that glass is made and live demonstrations of it being made. It's a studio where you can make your own glass souvenirs. Here's one of my favorite pieces. It's a chandelier made of blue glass butterflies. The butterflies are made of solar cell material, and they are wired up so that they provide the power for the chandelier! There's an exhibit about the guy who adjusted his kiln to the wrong temperature and accidentally invented Corelle ware, and a giant tower that starts with glass bowls at the bottom and ends with Corelle at the top, showing what happened to the glass at different temperatures. There's an exhibit about all the different colors glass can be made. One bowl was bright purple. The tag said they'd made it that way by exposing it to gamma rays. What. I spent the whole day there and it wasn't enough. I made a beer glass with a sandblasted picture of an octopus, and I flameworked a little glass sea slug. I wanted to come back the next day for all the things I missed but unfortunately they are closed on Wednesdays.

We spent the last 2 days here and that was barely enough! Plan on spending at least two days on your visit. The Museum is incredible and there is so much to see and do! We spent over 4 hours in the museum and honestly we could have spent twice that long. I found that some of my personal favorite pieces were chandeliers, but there was a lot of beautiful stained glass that I enjoyed viewing as well. Some of the sculptures are absolutely incredible and I especially appreciated the more interactive pieces that have a video content that go along with them to help the viewer understand the art. We probably spent the longest amount of time in the" historical" section. It's incredible to see glass pieces from thousands of years ago and to be able to watch the progression of glass making through the exhibits. The museum also offers live demonstrations and we were able to watch a full glass blowing demonstration as well as some of the flame work. You can also go across the parking lot to the studio and watch the artists working if that is something that interests you. We personally went to the studio because Corning offers lots of options for people to make their own glass items. We have done glass blowing a couple of times in the past so this time we chose to make pendants. I was a lot of fun, very affordable, and you get to take home a keepsake of your own creation. Items that you make yourself, do need to be picked up the following day or they can be shipped but we wanted to return anyway so we picked ours up ourselves. There is also a cafe that is pretty good and don't even get me started on the gift shop. You could almost spend as much time in the gift shop as you can the museum itself. A visit to the Corning museum of Glass is educational, entertaining, immersive, enlightening, welcoming, exciting and so much fun. If you haven't been here, plan your trip now.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon: the Corning Museum of Glass's collection is well worth the hours' drive. It has glass pieces from 1500 BC to current-day, from cultures all over the world, and so many types. We loved the three demonstrations (two glass blowing, one pitcher and one bowl, and one flame sculpting) we saw while we wandered for ~4 hours. Highly recommend.

This museum was on my list while visiting family in Corning. We had a limited amount of time to get through everything in the museum. The museum is very eclectic with at least 3-4 floors of glass artesry. We were definitely amazed at all of the glass art work and how many different things are made out of glass. My two favorite parts were the glass making demonstration and the wonderful gift shop. The glass demonstration was very informative. I am very biases to the array of Tiffany lamps displayed in gift shop. Will definitely return when back in the area to explore the glass making classes.

I first visited this museum many years ago. Got half off admission to visit again during Wineglass race weekend. Glass blowing is a must see. The talent and hard work that goes into mastering that craft is incredible. Everything is beautiful there, I was disappointed we had to leave soon after the race since walking too much the day before wasn't going to work. Your admission is valid for two days so go the two days. There is so much to see!! The museum shop is really cool too, there are definitely affordable trinkets. My sister and I bought reasonably priced glass pendants made by a local artist, which made for a sweet memory from that weekend.

Full disclosure: I have not visited this museum in person but have been obsessed with their website and Facebook page. I recently purchased three handmade blown glass pumpkins from their online catalog/store. This review is specifically about that experience. I have been collecting handmade blown glass pumpkins since the early eighties (my obsession started at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay, California). My current collection numbers about 25 and I just added three more from the New York Corning Museum of Glass. Their Facebook page is full of beautiful examples and videos of the glass artists at work. I am in awe of the work that it takes to produce one small glass pumpkin (and all the other glass objects made there). The museum website is very easy to navigate and right now when you log in, a bright colorful picture of assorted blown glass pumpkins pops up. You don't need to create an account and can purchase as a guest. Just put what you want in your cart and check out. From the time I ordered to when my pumpkins arrived was about 5 days. I received emails letting me know my order was on the way, when it would arrive, and when it was out for delivery. I wasn't home the very moment they were delivered but I got a text and a picture of the box sitting on my porch bench. The museum also has classes for the entire family, live demos, and a calendar of events. "The Studio" hosts residencies and community programs, offers glassmaking classes and scholarships, and provides facility rental for artists and students. I enjoyed watching a video of Tom Ryder, the artist who made two of my pumpkins before I purchased. It made me all the more impressed at what it takes to produce such a work of art. Along with the amazing pumpkins, you can purchase online home decor like one-of-a-kind bowls & vases, barware, glassware, baking & storage solutions, paperweights, lighting, garden ornaments, and of course holiday decorations (my next purchase, I'm sure). Make sure to check the Sale section for bargains too. My three pumpkins came all the way from New York perfectly intact and unbroken. The packaging and care taken to ship them properly was evident. They all arrived in one piece and were more beautiful than I expected. I have now put The New York Corning Glass Museum on my growing Bucket List.

Beautifully manicured museum and a must visit if you're ever in the Corning area. The museum is huge and offers a variety of wonderful exhibits, demonstrations, workshops, and glass making classes. There is also a huge gift shop as well as a cafe. Admission price is very reasonable and kids are free. We had a great time and would highly recommend coming here if you ever get a chance.

This museum is absolutely beautiful. The demonstrations are very educational. And the glass making workshops are really fun and more hands on than I expected. It was just such an eye opening experience for me!

I'm not usually a museum person but it was on the way to Niagara Falls so I decided to come! To preface, usually in museums I look at the artifact for 5 seconds then move on. In this museum, I stared at so many pieces for so long and was absolutely amazed and blown away by the artistry and how intricate everything was. My favorite was the Tiffany studio which had the most beautiful vases I've ever seen. They also had interactive exhibits which was super cool and educational to look at. It is totally worth it even if museums aren't your thing. They also had many shows/demos and we watched all of them. They were all captivating and educational. The museum is so large with so many different sections and exhibits but when we bought tickets at the admissions counter, they gave us a map and explained where everything is which was very helpful. The tickets were pretty expensive but that's because I'm used to free Smithsonian museums. Their parking lot is a block or two away, we walked for about 5 minutes but it seems like they have a shuttle. I definitely recommend coming, trust me you will think it's way cooler than whatever you're imagining!

We have gone to CMoG four times together and each time has brought something new. The exhibitions are constantly rotating (especially when a new season of Blown Away is shown on Netflix), with new artists, techniques, and medium being shown. This trip we found they were swapping a section of the historical exhibits with new artifacts, which we perused with curiosity. The gift shop always has some great find too. Glassware or decor or ornaments... or just a trip to the clearance area for great prices for gifts for family and friends. Lastly, although we didn't do any ourselves this time, don't forget all the classes they offer! We've made our own necklaces, ornaments... and the famous pumpkin as well. I would certainly recommend a trip out to Corning for the museum. And browse the town as well, as a number of small, local shops & restaurants there are also worth exploring!

This is a magical museum for glass and art lovers. In 5 hours, one still does not have enough time to view all. A return visit is suggested. Where to start? It depends on one's interests. Make sure to check the demo schedule upon arriving, so one could observe glass-making. Find the history of glass exhibit. It starts with Egypt and continues with highlights from many countries to the present. There is a great kids section with interactive exhibits in a different area. Don't miss the Studio across from the entrance. It is a separate building with hands-on activities, some by reservation. One could observe also. There is a library nearby, but it was closed on the weekend. The cafe is quite good, and the giftshop is large. It will take much time to look at the items, so save this for last. The museum is fun for all ages, and is highly recommended. Enjoy!

Wow! What a beautiful and informative museum. My family and I were captivated by all the gorgeous and unique exhibits at the museum of glass. The live demonstrations that were presented throughout the museum were also a huge hit with our children. It's definitely not every day you get to witness a beautiful piece of art come to life from beginning to end. If you're thinking of visiting please do so. This museum is perfect for people of all ages. My children range in age from 9 - 27 years old and each of us were exiting to experience such a wonderful museum.

Amazing museum! Not only are there numerous exhibits in the galleries that cover the history of glass, contemporary pieces, innovation and science of glass, but there are also so many neat demos. Be sure to look at a schedule to plan your visit when you come in so you can check the times - there is glass blowing, fusing, flamework, and even breaking. The demos are really interesting, and all of the presenters were quite engaging and kind about answering questions. There's a fun hunt for hidden glass objects for prizes that was very engaging for kids to help them explore. There are striking pieces from well-known names like Chihuly and Tiffany to curious items like a meat chandelier! After spending so much time exploring and watching, we couldn't resist giving it a try ourselves. They offer a number of classes in an adjacent building on the campus. The instructors were very knowledgeable and friendly and quickly led us through our options. Depending on what you choose to do, some pieces need to cool overnight so you'll want to plan to pick up the next day or arrange for shipping before you go. The campus itself is very good sized and depending on where you park you'll want to pay attention to the signage to find the entrance. There is also a building that's like a bit of a visitor's center, with brochures and clean restrooms, and that was staffed by an employee who kindly sent us on in the right direction. As a result, there is plentiful parking.

What a well curated and fascinating museum with pieces dating back 3,000+ years to modern and contemporary art. We learned a lot about the history of glass and its impact on technology, and enjoyed the various live demonstrations on glass making. We spent over for 5 hours here and could have easily stayed all day.

Spectacular! World class collection from 3000+ years ago to today's cutting edge art and technology. Well worth a 2-hour or more visit. Also a large gift shop that will likely cause you to buy a few items...

This place is great! Wow!! My wife went last year. She loved it! She brought me this summer. I loved it! The gift store was just amazing! Great functional items and art. Just a lovely store. You can buy glasses for your kitchen or bar or plates and Pyrex. The museum is incredible!! We only had 2 hours. We could have used 6. I would love to come back and watch more of the live demonstrations. If you're on the fence, just go! It's amazing!!

Be aware- the museum is not near the visitor center (which was empty anyway when we visited) and is not the tall black glass buildings next to the parking lot. You have to walk across the lot going opposite from the visitor center, along the sidewalk to the large contemporary building past the black glass buildings. We were so confused! But...after that things were phenomenal. Seriously you could spend a day or more here and get so full on art and history you would explode. The first floor is the more contemporary piece showings with the other floors showing global history and examples of glass as functional and artistic pieces. There's also plenty of demos and talks through the day so you get a lot with your entry. Other than a gas station across the street there isn't much in the direct area but it's right off a main highway and will give you a major treat into the world of glass and glass making!

This has got to be my favorite place ever!! The museum has tons of great stuff to look at; you can learn about the history of glass. The glass making classes are super fun and affordable! I chose to make a paperweight, Im so happy with the way it turned out! I could spend forever here. I will definitely be coming back!

My daughter and I drove 1.5 hours to experience the museum. The museum itself was amazing and did not disappoint, it was truly fascinating and informative! To learns about the evolution of glass and all its uses was well worth the visit. However, the experienced glass maker was less than enthusiastic and rushed us through the process without an initial introduction or smile. He rudely snapped at my 18 year old when she apparently blew into the glass when she wasn't supposed to, then trashed the vase she was working on in a bucket and quickly remade the vase himself. His instructions were less than clear and he kept throwing his head back and taking deep breathes like it was all he could do to tolerate us or life in general. The experience was hurried and my daughter and I both finished our hour long classes in just 30 minutes. The experience was in stark contrast to the other glass maker instructing next to us who was engaging, patient, enthusiastic and happy. Perhaps the glassmaker we had was only having a very bad day but I wish he had called in sick rather than try and instruct with a bad attitude. The vases we made were supposed to be something that represented a happy memory, mother daughter bonding day, but was tarnished by a grouchy glass maker.

Oh my gosh. This is the Willy Wonka of glass. Glass making everywhere. Creativity surrounds you with imagination and fun! Amazing experience. I will be sharing all week.

The Crystal City is a great place to go if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, or just to unwind from the busy life we all have. It is a small town after all. So, a weekend would be perfect. Nice people and I like the atmosphere a lot. The Corning Museum of Glass offers the glass-making sessions. It was such a unique experience. You can pick from making a colorful glass ornament to a vibrant glass flower. It's required to pick up your glasswork the next day from the proper cooling and packing process. And the museum part was also quite eye-opening to see what people can make with glass materials. Pretty cool museum with all things glass. Their collection is vast and spans back to the 1800's or so. There's a section on Tiffany glass, European and early American works. Several demonstrations for the entire family and a nifty gift shop. Free for military!

We all enjoyed our time at the Corning museum of glass. Each of my two girls designed in ornament that came out beautifully! The artwork and history is beautiful and rich. Would definitely recommend this for anyone to stop by for a visit.

This Museum excursion was a breathe of fresh air. Beautifully designed glass pieces to look upon and there are demonstrations on how to make glass every thirty minutes you can watch by glass blowers that work at the museum. Not only that but wait for it, wait for it, you can sign up to make your own glass piece to take home with you! My girlfriend and I made glass flowers and I can whole heartily say it is much more exciting to bring back a glass piece you made than buying anything from the souvenir shop. I am very thankful for this experience and recommend you try making your own piece of glass, if not at the Corning Museum, try checking locally as there are workshops you can enroll in if interested. We went on a trip to the Finger Lakes and stopped by the Corning Glass Museum on our way back. I enjoyed our visit so much -- there were so many beautiful pieces of glass work and the glass-blowing demonstrates were fascinating to watch. We spent about three hours at the museum and still didn't see everything. Although we had visited some amazing hiking areas, the glass museum turned out to be my favorite part of the trip. I am so looking forward to our next visit. Be sure to allow enough time to see and also to appreciate everything at this unexpectedly awesome attraction. Definitely five stars and two thumbs up!

A beautifully laid out museum with truly impressive works of glass. Be warned, it was incredibly busy on a Monday afternoon when we went; can only imagine weekends are even busier. The glass blowing demonstration was really well narrated and extra cameras provided an inside look at the glory hole as the artist was working. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

When in Corning, a must visit spot is obviously the Corning Museum of Glass. Admission for adults is on the pricier side but the fact that children up to the age of 17 enter free is amazing! It also makes for a really neat learning opportunity and experience for them. They have a lot of glass pieces showcased as art while also displaying lots of historical aspects of glass, as well as more innovative and practice uses. My favorite was their live glass blowing demonstrations! The auditoriums are big but the design of the stages and benches made the whole thing easy to view. The team was really good with their narrations and good analogies to make things easy to understand. When we first planned this trip, I said I wasn't interested in their studio where you can actually do glass blowing yourself (e.g. make an ornament) but after watching the demo, I was regretting it since I was itching to try. Our last stop was the gift shop which was huge! Lots of options for you to purchase and take home. This museum has lots of restrooms for needed stops and even had a station where you can grab one of their portable chairs to bring around with you to sit! I thought that was so considerate. Personally I didn't feel it was needed as they also have benches around the museum too as needed.

Corning Museum is one of the best museums in the world! There are interactive exhibits, live demos, and incredible sculptures. There are also workshops where you can create your own glass art (I've made a glass flower before) and they provide you with both instructions and safety gear. There's even an area where you can draw ideas for a glass sculpture and if you're chosen, they will make your piece during a demo. So cool!

This was our children's favorite museum hands down. The third floor had an excellent exhibit on the different technological developments of glass and glass-making, many of which Corning played a major part. Most remarkable was the development of fusion glass in the 50s, which was so ahead of its time that it was not used until the 80s for LCD displays. We watched an expert glass-maker create a sculpture based on a child's drawing. The second floor has a beautiful display of glass from different periods. The first floor was focused on modern glass sculptures from diverse artists. The gift shop is on the "basement" floor featuring glass sculptures from local artists. Afterwards, we went to the studio across the parking lot to decorate a glass using the sandblasting technique. Tickets for adults are US$22 each. Children 17 and under are free. The appointment and payment for the glasses can be made in advance for US$15 each.

As a person with no stomach to handle road trips, this was 100% worth it. We arrived early Saturday afternoon to find that while there was still available parking in the lot (no fees!) that we did have to wait in the relatively quickly moving line to purchase our tickets. They let kids in for free, though as adults, we footed the admission tickets. Or stickers, as the case may be. They tell you to adhere it visibly to yourself instead of a receipt or ticket, which cool, saves on paper, but did make me keep pressing it back onto my sweatshirt for fear of it falling off before getting to see everything. They also take the time to review the map with you and show schedule. The entire place is three color coded floors, not that we paid much attention to our paper aside from verifying that we had indeed walked through it all. Some things we took a quicker breeze through, as it would be incredibly overwhelming and time consuming to read ever placard and stare at every item, given the vast size, and weekend crowd. There were exhibits that made us stop and gasp, and ones that made us wonder why someone would exercise all that patience to make in the first place. This week Morgan Peterson, of Netflix's Blown Away fame, and her team put on a live demonstration to showcase that patience. We didn't stay until the end of the show because the benches aren't all too comfy and there was so much to see, but what we did witness was fascinating. The gift shop is large enough to necessitate its own floor, and I kept my arms safely against myself while my mate looked around for something affordable to add to her collection. We did hear a crash (the whole room stopped and audibly gasped) so exercise caution. A lot of displays are behind maintained partitions to avoid this, I assume. So pop on your Sea-bands, tuck in your hands, and keep the camera flash off to come visit the glass museum. It's well worth it.

This is something to do for 1/2 a day. There is so much to take in. History of glass back to Egypt with samples. Glass blowing exhibition, also no charge. Parking no charge. There is a cafe, but we never got to that floor or the gift shop. Life has Glass is all around us and has been a heart of lives for hundreds of years. Water to wine utensils from the common man to the very wealthy. A delight.

I stopped here on the way to Niagara Falls. This is a museum that is dedicated to all things glass. The exhbits wil teach you about the use of glass since thousands of year ago. There are also many pieces of glass art on display from ancient history and artists such as sculptures and stained glass windows. However, the highlight of this museum for me was the Hot Glass Show. This is live show where you will see a glass blower take a glob of melted glass and transform it into a vase or bowl using a furnace. It is a very unique and fascinating display to see in person.

I visited today and have 2 small fusing and 1 small bead bookings today. The staff that were in charge of those were excellent!! However, I can't give 5 stars because afterwards my daughter needed a bandaid because she cut her finger on the glass and it wasn't until after we finished our activities that she noticed. By then the staff had left for break. So we went to the "front desk" of the studio space and asked her for a bandaid - which she replied saying she didn't have any. we then went to the other side of the studio - maybe pod 2? It's on the left side of the main entrance. We asked her if we could get a bandaid. She told us repeatedly to go to the front desk - but we kept repeating that she didn't have any. She then very reluctantly gave one to us but said she isn't allowed to. We were just asking for a bandaid - why did we get treated like we were trying to con our way into getting a bandaid ( of all things ) ?

Corning museum is an awesome place to go! I'd love to go there and buy glass flowers! So much To look at! It's a very unique museum! And I highly recommend it!

This place is an absolute gem. They have many different discounts (including AAA) and should take you roughly 5 hours to get through, less, if you breeze through. This place is enormous. I was also surprised by the cafe, which, of course is overpriced, but actually pretty decent. They serve coffee and alcoholic beverages there as well. They have premade food but also made to order. This museum is interesting & they even have live shows throughout. I would say it's kid friendly if your child can treat the museum like a library and finds non-interactive museums interesting

This museum is a gem! They have beautiful glass art. There's a gallery for contemporary and modern glass art, then there's a more interactive section that seems to be more geared to children with some touch and feel exhibits. They also had some pieces of Tiffany glass and pieces created by Frank Lloyd Wright! My favorite parts were the glass blowing demonstrations where master glass blowers created pieces in 30minutes. One of the glass bowers George made a beautiful vase that was truly a piece of art! I highly recommend going to this museum if you're in the upstate NY area!

I could go on and on here, but will keep this reasonable! As others have noted this is an amazing museum with so much glass!! I've been blowing glass at a hobby level for over 6 years and love glass! So, we spent all day here wandering the galleries, taking pictures, marveling at everything. I loved the mix of historical glass, contemporary work and even scientific applications of glass. We watched a demo and were amazed at the beautiful pitcher that was completed in 15 minutes....I was chatting with my glass classmates about this and we laughed about how pitchers take us around 45 minutes and they don't look anywhere near as nice! So impressive to see true experts at work! We spent some time in the gift shop as well. So many pumpkins!! I love that they clearly mark what is made by local artists. Don't miss the giant pumpkins in the bed of the pickup truck out back. We had a snack at the cafeteria and were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were. Usually there is a markup for convenience, but they don't seem to do that here. The food was freshly made as were the coffee and tea options. We wrapped up with a walk over to the studio and they were making lots of pumpkins! This is also where visitors were trying their hand at making glass flowers, etc. We bought our timed entry tickets online and parked at the visitor center as directed. Heads up that you do NOT need to go into the visitor center. It seems the only thing going on in there is that they have a nice person who tells you the direction to go to walk across the street to the museum. There is a shuttle, but it's seriously less than a 1 block walk, so walking is faster. It is great that they have the shuttle though for anyone who needs it. Heads up for other glass students - I was looking at their website, and the prices for classes are VERY reasonable. A classmate of mine did a summer week-long class here and learned a ton. I need to add that to my bucket list!

In general I am a fan of museums and this place just blew me away! Who knew glass could be so interesting and definitely beautiful? There's everything from huge, and I mean giant, glass pieces to very delicate detailed pieces. You'll find crystal, Tiffany glass, paperweights, abstract art, historical pieces, and much much more. Besides the beautiful galleries there are live demonstrations of glass blowing, glass breaking (yes if breaks all different ways), flameworks. Demonstrations and exhibits change periodically. There's an innovation center which was fun to explore showing the history of Corelle dishes (still my favorite dishware) and Pyrex, all originally made by Corning. It also included displays about windshields and various kinds of lens. Think cameras and telescopes. All very interactive. At the end of our visit we were lucky enough to enjoy a wine tasting that was in the 'wine and glass' gallery. Thank you Wagner Winery! (One of numerous great wineries around the Finger Lakes. ) Don't forgot to visit their great gift shop. We picked up a few nice items, even added to my Corelle collection. We were there over 4 hours and I'm sure didn't see everything. Can't wait to visit again. 2022-54

This place is a combination of artist installations, old-timey antiques, technological innovations, and live-action demonstrations. Everything from the history of glassmaking in ancient civilizations, to how specific types of glass are used in today's car windshields. There is a lot to see, so give yourself several hours. I spent about 4.5 hours here, but really could have spent longer had we attended more demos or made our own glass. We watched live glassblowing by the museum's resident artist, and museum staff - who are very experienced and can show you fascinating glassmaking techniques. All of the glass pieces are locked away so it's no problem to bring kids (or clumsy adults). The only place that made me a little nervous about breaking something was the gift shop (which is huge and features a variety of items). There is a "home" portion of the gift shop featuring Corelle and Corningware dishes and glasses for everyday use. The free shuttle runs from the welcome center to the museum, as well as the Rockwell Museum (which we visited on another day). The walk isn't terribly long, but for those with a disability it was appreciated! We purchased combo CMOG/Rockwell tickets and saved around $5 per ticket. There are student/local resident/AAA discounts as well. A super interesting museum and well worth the admission price!

Huge museum and a huge gift shop as well! I especially enjoyed the ancient glass from Egypt, Greece and Rome and the art nouveau pieces. Nice collection of Tiffany glass. The gift shop is also amazing! While I was disappointed that they didn't have any Roman glass jewelry (which I've been looking to buy somewhere for ages), they did have a nice selection of other glass jewelry and I picked up some fantastic dichroic glass barrettes. My friend score a beautiful pendant resembling an antique paperweight as a gift for her Mom. The live demonstrations were intriguing and well presented. Staff was friendly at check in. There is a discount for college students and seniors and local residents. My friend lives in Ithaca and even got the local rate! Highly recommend!

I love the museum itself, and have been several times. But the enhanced glass blowing class for my 14 year old daughter was a huge disappointment. This was a $52 experience described as "you gain greater opportunity to shape and manipulate hot glass; use glassmaking tools etc". The studio instructor did everything. All my daughter did was gently blow into the tube. Beginning to end it took 7 minutes. And what we got was a well made vase that someone else made. It was a total waste of money. I don't know if this was specific to the instructor, though it might be. My partner got the $150 experience and that was hands on and totally worth it, but my daughter wasn't old enough for that, unfortunately.

What an absolutely delightful place to visit. The Corning Museum of Glass is one of the best museums we have gone to, and this is mostly driven by how many experiences there are available here. Pros: + The make your own glass is super worth your time. I would absolutely suggest that you go on their website, find what type of glassware you want to create, and sign up for a spot to make sure you get it at the time that is most convenient for you. We had an absolute blast doing this. + The demonstrations are superb. They paid great attention to detail, were willing to answer questions, and the demonstration schedule was constant throughout the day so that you didn't feel like you would miss out on something. + The gift shop is so much more than your typical gift shop. You could literally spend a half hour there browsing, and still feel like you want more time. + Parking is free, and right across from the entrance. Cons: - Nothing. That's what makes this 5 stars!

Very nice glass museum in Corning NY! Lot of amazing display that you can't believe it's glass! Location: it is located in Corning, NY. Lot of parking for guest. Service: just pay the $20 ticket and go inside. Most of them are nice and assist you if you have question. Don't forget to put a survey cause you will get a gift!! Attraction: the museum is huge! I believe it's 3 floors. The entrance will take you first to the shopping center when you go up that is where you pay. Lot of amazing art work glasses! I took pictures of my favorites! There is also shows on how to make glass. It was pretty cool actually and it amazed me of the finish product! Price Rating: not bad for the activities and to see their beautiful glass work. btw kids are free! Definitely will recommend this to new yorkers if you are in Corning NY. Fill up the survey so you can get free gift!

The Corning Museum of Glass is well with a visit in Corning NY. Over 50,000 pieces of glass. Stained glass. Blown glass. Chandeliers, and is the home of several beautiful pieces from the world renowned Dale Chihuly. You can not only watch these masterful artisans make pieces - if you sign up you can even make your own piece (added fee and preregistration required) the museum is huge and can easily take over an hour to walk through. Way more to actually admire the pieces. Corning has a cafe and a gift shop and has many clean bathrooms throughout. A shuttle is also available to travel from the welcome center to the museum. Free admission for kids and discounts for seniors and AAA are available.

Yesterday, celebrating Mothers Day, as this was a place my mom wanted to check out again... I decided to take a drive down...and celebrate her day ( In her honor, and memory ), of both are love for traveling and adventures. My last visit was back in 2009, so things in my opinion defintly improved since then. I signed up for the Mothers Day "Make Your Own Glass Sun Catcher", at 2 pm..... I was grouped in with a bunch of children, but that was alright, still had a great time, and look forward to my return trip to pick up my sun catcher. The musuem offers different discounts for locals in the area, Triple AAA, 17 and under are free, and groups. As other reviewers have stated, you can plan to spend some time here, rather its checking out demonstrations, or their mind blowing gift shop, enjoying a snack or beverage in their cafe. The musuem does a terrfic job with the COVID 19 safety, with their hand santizer stations, masks ( not required), but recommended due to increasing numbers sadly. I actually did wear a mask walking around. The second floor, highly recommend in certain areas to spend some time in such as Contemporary Art + Design, Tiffany Studios etc. My favorite was on the Third Floor the Innovation Center and Flame Work Demo. Amazing way to spend a day, and be sure to check out the exhibts near " Blown Away " show area. Great place for everyone to visit. As an occasional fan of history of glass, and musuems...my fun fact for this review ,is Pyrex turned 50...be sure to chek out the little store, connected to the gift shop.

Hubby discovered this place before we left for our trip, so we stopped here. We really enjoyed each exhibit and the demos. Sad that a guest almost messed up a display by touching it, even though there was a sign informing them not to touch. We will definitely come back so we can make our glass work of art. We took advantage of the gift shop as well. Each staff member we have encountered was friendly and helpful.
