Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in North Carolina’s Outer Banks

"Just steps off the dirt road in Historic Corolla Village, the Corolla Village Inn (rooms from $265 per night) offers Cape Cod-inspired rooms and suites behind a veil of live oaks. A communal fireside lounge and spacious front porches invite guests to unwind with a glass of wine at the end of the day."

Corolla Village Inn was one of the best surprises we’ve had on a trip. You can tell it was built with care and purpose. It’s quiet, clean, and right in the middle of everything we actually care about 2 minutes to the beach, walkable to the lighthouse, and surrounded by cool little spots like a coffee shop, smoothie place, bookstore, and bakery. All of it feels like part of the same story. The place has history. Not the fake kind. Real, old-school, hard-earned history that they’ve kept alive without turning it into a museum. You feel it when you’re there. It’s peaceful. It’s different. And it actually makes you want to slow down and enjoy the day. The place is also incredibly clean and well maintained. The staff there is so welcoming. This isn’t just a spot to crash—it’s a place worth remembering. We’ll be back and we can’t wait to get there.

The Corolla Village Inn is a respite from a busy world and even from a very active big ole wonderful family like ours. |Every year our family of 25 plus friends stay at Corolla Light Resort Community. One son owns a big beach house there, and all the other four siblings and their families rent beach houses. After beaches days, activities and group dinners, my husband and I like to return to the Village Inn each night where we enjoy the quiet and thoughtful amenities provided by a superb staff. The rooms are exceptionally spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The mornings are especially pleading at this lovely Inn with gorgeous landscaping, sound views and the nearby Historic Corolla shops. There are so many complimentary continental breakfast and snack items always available. We simply love the all-female staff and look forward to next year already.

We recently spent 3 nights at Corolla Village Inn and had the most wonderful time! The inn is charming, cozy, and has everything you need—bikes, beach chairs/towels and snacks, shady porches, and a perfect location in the historic village. It was an easy walk to the lighthouse and Whalehead Club. We stayed in a dog-friendly room, which came with a pet blanket and bowls—a thoughtful touch! The service was warm and welcoming, and we loved that they offered wine and beer at great prices. No pool, but easy access to the beach (we liked the public beach near Salty RIM and they have a public restroom, just a 5-minute drive). We’ll definitely be back!

It is a wow and more than excellent. If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars. The location is unique and feels part of nature and history of Corolla. The infrastructure also gives a feel of tranquility, finesse, charm, colours of the region and more. The service is all alike, no matter who is at the front desk, they are always welcoming and helpful. The beach is as close as it could get to prevent de crowd. The national park wild horses is a walking distance. The best places for coffee and a meal, and a smoothie are at a walking distance attached to the hotel which is in the historical area. And I could go on....

Five Stars! A Hidden Gem in Corolla Village Our family had a wonderful stay at Corolla Village Inn and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond—always friendly, incredibly attentive, and more than willing to accommodate our daily housekeeping requests with a smile. The location is quiet and peaceful, yet perfectly situated just a short walk to the beach, Historic Corolla Park, and some truly great restaurants. It was the ideal balance of relaxation and convenience. We loved being tucked away in the village while still having easy access to everything we needed. The room was spacious, clean, cozy, and well-maintained, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. We highly recommend Corolla Village Inn for families looking for comfort, exceptional service, and a charming OBX experience.

Thank you! We stayed two nights in early July before our Sunday-Sunday rental. The room was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the Inn was quiet, the bikes were a great way to explore the historic end of Corolla, and the breakfast was perfect. Thank you for two lovely nights!

Yelp
The Corolla Village inn is one of the cutest places I have stayed at ! It's super clean and comfy ! The people who work here and take care of the property are super sweet and you can tell they truly love what they do and enjoy every moment of it. . Not only was the inn perfect but the location was . I literally was minutes from everything you want to see while your staying in Corolla . The light house , the horses , the beach and the best food you'll find in area is right around the corner. You don't even need a vehicle to get to all these places , they're in walking or biking distance. Btw the inn supplies bikes as well . I will definitely be back !

Yelp
HIGHLY recommend this place. It's quiet, clean, near shops and restaurants and a few minutes from the beach. They fit us in last minute and very accommodating. Well decorated and every last detail thought of. Great porch views

Yelp
Best surprise in twenty years! Corolla Village Inn is impeccable. The Inn reveals itself as you first encounter then pass a quintessential live oak. Beautiful. Entering from the parking lot, a healthy selection of bicycles wait for your next journey. Now the best part...Hadley!! The owner greets you with nothing short of the warmest sincerity. Hoping your stay is wonderful is everything thing to her in a very understated truly southern way. Love her. The Inn is brand new, but I have a feeling that it will stay just right for a very long time. I just get that feeling from the owner. The ceilings are high, the bed is super comfortable with plenty of pillows, the hardware and room appointments work together to invite a true vacation from the ordinary. The rooms a designed and decorated to perfection. Hadley encourages you speak up if you need anything like maybe an iron and she'll see to it that one ends up in your room. The shared space is again soaring ceilings and big doors with a fireplace to warm up with. Delicious morning treats wait for you in this this space along with delicious coffee and tea. I did not want to go home, but I do want to come back. This place is just what a person who is searching for an off season retreat needs. If you are looking for yourself, spend a day or two here. I bet you will find yourself! --Deb Bradley, Pittsburgh, PA
