After suffering through 2 hours of breathing exhaust fumes in the "Delta" vehicle, I examined the floorboard to find that there were holes in it, which allowed exhaust gases to leak up into the passenger compartment where I sat. The exhaust pipe ends in the wheel well, trapping gases directly underneath the passenger compartment. This is a passenger safety concern, so I brought it to the attention of the driver and the mechanic, who were both nonchalant about it. I therefore called the management, who said they'd look into it. I do not know what if anything they did.
In case anyone thinks I am just dreaming up a problem, I am a former ASE Master Certified technician with 30+ years experience. No vehicle should vent exhaust fumes under the chassis, yet I was told by both their technician and the manager that "some models" were different. Maybe so, but I can assure the reader, NO MODEL should vent exhaust gases into the wheel well. It is quite dangerous to do that!
Other concerns-the driver refused to use the speaker system, even when asked to do so. If you're sitting in the back (a position which you will have no control over) you may have problems hearing what is said on the road, although all will be clear once you're in the dunes.
Be aware that with 13 people in a vehicle, 6 will be in the middle, meaning you will not have any frontal view and only a side view around the passenger next to you...many other companies do not cram this many into a vehicle. In fact, other companies were able to stop and let everyone out, which we didn't do, because you'd have to climb over two seats to accomplish that from where I was seated. Picture yourself sliding into the back of a large box van only with less headroom and you get the idea. BTW, the frontal view probably was OK back when they originally fitted the vehicle out, since there were angled plexiglas screens which would normally have allowed forward vision for the rear passengers. However, these screens haven't been maintained over the years and were completely opaque, thus rendering forward visibility to zero.
The good news is the driver did find us the horses, and we did get some pictures of them, though he never completely stopped so that we could get great shots. All in all, I would strongly suggest you stay away from this company if for no other reason than for your safety and health, especially if you have infants or are in the latter stages of pregnancy. This is a serious public health and maintenance issue that should never have been allowed to pass inspection.
Anyone who doubts me, look at my hundreds of reviews. Yes, I am anticipating a rebuttal by management. I do not make any claims like this lightly. in fact, I believe this is the first time in all my years on TA. Avoid for your own health and safety!
