"The dreamy city of Coronado is an island (technically, a peninsula) stronghold of hotels, resorts, and beach-front restaurants. Make the short, two-mile journey over one of San Diego’s most recognizable structures, Coronado Bridge, or take the ferry to get there. The main business district, which hugs Orange Avenue, is filled with shops, restaurants, and family-friendly hangouts like MooTime Creamery, so it's a popular spot for families. And, of course, the famous Hotel Del Coronado continues to be a draw." - Marie Tutko, Archana Ram

Yelp
Service was fantastic! Food was good. Beautiful view of bridge and boats in the water

Yelp
I came here with family the night before our wedding and it a perfect place to go! My wedding planner recommended it. We stayed at Hotel Del Coronado and it's literally right across the street so we could walk there. The views are great on the water. The ambiance inside is very nice too. I wanted something on the lighter side (had to fit in the wedding dress) and there were quite a few tasty options. I settled on the Seafood Louie Salad with the lobster upgrade ($29) and it was so good! So much lobster packed in- like a healthier alternative to a lobster roll. I was surprised. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their dishes too. I look forward to coming back here again on my next trip to Coronado. **PRO TIP - Yelp currently has a check in offer for a handcrafted cocktail!

Yelp
Maybe 3 1/2. More a sea shanty with cloth napkins than an elegant restaurant. Food was a mixed bag. Fish & Chips were ample sized, and the calamari was wonderful. Clam chowder was very rich and filling, but was so over salted you could barely taste anything else. $40 scallop entre was downright awful. While the bed of goat cheese grits with chopped asparagus was tasty, the (small) scallops were so overcooked they could bounce off the table. Signature cocktails were creative, if smallish and light on the pour. Tableside service was great, however the hostess who "greeted" us was downright prickly, with an almost forced smile, "How can I [not] help you?" Building is charming, very much old Coronado style, but a bit run down in places. And very cold inside. A mix of upscale and fishing dock.

Yelp
Good food- Clam chowder - good but a bit heavy Crusted halibut-excellent Wedge salad-very good Service-nice and accurate but way overloaded leading to poor service. Management-horrible!!! I watched the manager walk in circles and act like he was doing things mean while it was impossible to get basic things like water, fork, boxes, check....

Yelp
We were in Coronado and wanted to grab a dinner and this place was close by and seemed nice so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away since it was before the dinner rush came in. The appetizer crab dip was nice. Good seasoning, a little bit of heat and the chips were still warm, a nice bonus point for that! A friend got a halibut dish and she really enjoyed it (no picture here). My other friend got a burger, he was not impressed saying that the burger didn't have much taste. I tried it and he was right. My cioppino tasted very good. I was not very impressed with the ingredients but the seasoning was nicely done. For an impromptu dinner, we left the restaurant happy.

Yelp
So, when you go out to eat, the server plays a big role in how the meal plays out. He started out very friendly, joking, but did not bring things out in a timely manner. Every other table around us had water service and we had to ask three times before we got the water. We were already on our main courses. The seafood was fresh and tasty, the sides were extremely salty and I love salt. I add salt, to salt! The scallop dish was on point with all the flavors blending wonderfully and they were cooked perfectly. The mahi was overdone where the cut was thinner. We also had requested a certain view which was not available when we got there, but instead of going to look to see if someone was leaving, the hostess sat us elsewhere. One of our party walked over to where we had wanted to sit and observed a table being cleared. So basically we had to scout our table for the special occasion we were celebrating. As a matter of fact, no mention was made of that, even though it was stated at the time of reservation. I expect more of a fine dining, great view restaurant located in Coronado.

Yelp
My husband and I chose to sit on the patio for an early lunch, and we were the first the be seated after they opened. We were unaware you were supposed to ask for bread, but we were asked if we had been here before to which we replied we hadn't. Later the server corrected the stumble by sending us off with some fresh bread and butter. Back to the food; we started off with some yellowtail nigiri which was fresh and delicious. Then I ordered the scallops and grits entree while my husband ordered fish and chips. Both were cooked perfectly and there were plenty to eat. I always hate when places only give you three scallops and call it an entree; not the case here! Other than the little snafu with the bread, we enjoyed our meal and experience immensely and will return.

Yelp
Order several dishes. Unfortunately we had bad luck with several of them. The chicken wasn't good. It was hardly eaten. The halibut wasn't eaten at all. There wasn't offer to exchange for something else. All the fish plates were dried and no flavor. Needs a lot of improvement. Yikes!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it's always amazing food! Only had one bad experience with service. The seafood Louie salad is 10/10 as well as the clam chowder! For apps, the calamari is amazing! So if you're on the fence, those are my picks.

Phuong H.

Yelp
I loved this place! It's more upscale than your typical dinner but it's casual enough to still be in comfortable clothes. I ordered: LOUIE SALAD + LOBSTER - So fresh & filling! The amount of lobster was great and satisfying for a salad. ARTICHOKE & CRAB - It sounded super good but I would've been ok if we didn't order this. It was a little clumpy. LOBSTER ROLL - A little small but the taste was there; came with a side of fries. SURF & TURF - The scalloped potatoes (I think) that was included was super good! Very filling dish. My dad loved the steak and the lobster was huge. SERVICE - Friendly, cheerful, quick More on the pricey end but for a view of the water what can you expect. I'd recommend coming around 4:30-5pm, it wasn't busy at all. Super relaxing ambience.

Yelp
Considering coming here on 4th of July service was great and timely. I was worried it would've been hectic but not the case whatsoever. I made reservations for 2 same day only a few hours before coming by simply calling in. Our server Savannah offered drink and food recommendations regarding our picks. She was awesome with quick and efficient conversation during our stay! As we went to several restaurants, Savannah definitely stuck out during our visit in SD. Came for the Cedar Plank Salmon I've tried at the Carlsbad location but did not see it on the menu offered at Coronado. I could've asked but I didn't see it on the website either. I ordered the Gemelli Pasta, it was a large portion which came out hot and not strikingly flavorful which pesto usually is. Not the worst not the best. We also ordered Wagyu hamburger medium rare which was huge and tasty. Bathroom needs constant eye as TP was low and women were exchanging paper under the doors. Views were great. Will come back.

Marissa S.

Yelp
Nice location with waterfront views. Great service and tasty food. Really enjoyed the clam chowder, and fish & chips entree!

Yelp
Right across the street of our hotel. Came here for dinner with our toddler. They have crayons and a coloring sheet which is an added bonus. High chairs available. We sat upstairs. Our waiter is nice and was the only waiter upstairs so he was very busy. sand dabs - On a bed of spinach and a side of scallop potatoes. The sand dabs were delicious and perfectly cooked. The scallop potatoes were lukewarm. I believe they reheated it. My husband got the sword fish off the local catch. He enjoyed it. Coconut ginger rice- we ordered it in hopes our picky toddler would eat it. She did and then probably got a mouth full of ginger and stopped. We liked the rice. Took a while to get our bill but our waiter is very busy.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for some quick oysters and a drink. He got the Coronado beer and I got the passion fruit margarita. Both were delicious! We got 6 blue point oysters. They were phenomenal. Service was top tier and the environment was great! We will be back.

Chester B.

Yelp
Overall not bad. Food was a bit lackluster in flavor. We didn't get offered bread, had to ask for it after the clam chowder and the rest of the food came out. We tried the half dozen oysters, paella, half New England/half manhattan clam chowder, green beens and had the key lime pie for desert. Oysters were really fresh and good. The paella was very disappointing as it was missing the Smokey and seafood flavor we were looking forward to. Both clam chowders were good but I always prefer a good New England clam chowder as it's creamier. The star of the dinner was the key lime pie. AMAZING!!!! A must try for dessert lovers. Overall a relaxing dinner experience but not too happy with the food.

Yelp
Parking: There is a parking along the road and some close by near the water. Depending on what day you go you might be able to find a closer spot. Service: The service was very professional. Our server. He was patient with us as well which was very appreciated. Food: Food was great. We started with the baked crab and artichoke dip was delicious! It was warm and hot until our main dish came which is always a good thing. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Mahi Mahi and I was blown away by the flavor. I belleve this was the first time that I had this type of fish before and It won't be the last. The cream what complimented it and plus the mashed potatoes made me forget where I was on every bite that I took. For a drink l had a virgin Mojito which was amazing. Ambiance: Ambiance was great. We we were able to get a window view to where we can see boats coming and going. Opportunities: My wife ordered a drink that had a hair in it. The server apologized and got her another drink right away. Not a big gripe, I'm sure that happens from time to time and they were able to resolve it. Overall: This was my first time at this location and I enjoyed everything about it. The server was polite, the ambiance was very welcoming and it wasn't too loud to the point where you couldn't hear your +1 across from you. Would definitely return. |

Yelp
First time here, met a couple of colleagues for dinner. Beautiful view, good food, yummy cocktails and excellent service. We shared some appetizers, the prawn cocktail, grilled octopus and poke. I added a Wedge Salad and we all had dessert. I had the key lime pie and my colleagues had creme brulees. If you like spicy, try the Pilikia Margarita and choose the spicy option. The only con is the noise level. It did make it a little difficult to talk, but we managed. Paul and team provided amazing service.

Yelp
Blue water is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in Coronado. To start. The bread. Chefs kiss ‍‍‍ The service is always top notch , they are always so attentive and friendly. The ambiance is welcoming and spacious. It is in an old historic building which was one of the first buildings in Coronado I'm not a big fish girl so I got the chicken under a brick and it was amazing. I've gotten it multiple times. Highly highly recommend

Richard M.

Yelp
This restaurant was a breath of fresh air. The staff was incredibly friendly and squeezed us in without reservations. They were kind and interacted with our kids. The sourdough bread was delicious and even better soaked in the broth from the steamed clams. The salmon was great but we could not leave the island without trying the locally caught swordfish. This place was very down to earth and we will return.

Yelp
Beautiful Location, AMAZING food, Great Service! We reserved the patio for dinner for my sister's wedding and it was the PERFECT dinner, we couldn't have asked for better. The food was so delicious, the service was stellar, and they really went above and beyond with everything. The set up was beautiful, they let us have their cake out and displayed too, it was just all around perfect. Shoutout to Harvey, he really went above and beyond and we were really greatful for all his help making my sister's big day AMAZING! You cannot go wrong with anything you order here, the view/location is gorgeous, if you're on the fence just go here you won't regret it!

Shirley S.

Yelp
Came back for my birthday and ordered the same and no disappoints #PankoCrustedCalamariSteak #HalfChowdersInSameBowl #SeparateBills in four groups went much smoother but charging $2 for each person for a slice of cake even if they don't have a slice is not good service. Server was nice but extremely busy so always in a hurry.

Yelp
Blue Water Grill in Coronado, San Diego, offers excellent food, outstanding service, and a stunning view. A must-visit for anyone in the area

Yueming Q.

Yelp
My husband and I come to dine in several times. The first time was several years ago when we just moved in San Diego. We were attracted by the architecture and feeling like seafoods, so we decided to give a try. Everything is pretty good! I remember we had grilled fish, fried calamari and maybe salad. We loved here. This time we were not that hungry so I had a salad and my hubby had a fish taco, both are very good! The service is nice and fast. The view is amazing by the water, the atmosphere is great!

Chris S.

Yelp
If you're in Coronado and you want a delicious, high quality, but simple seafood dinner, I recommend the Bluewater Grill. And be sure to make a reservation! We made one and arrived a bit early and got seated pretty quickly. All the staff we interacted with were great and the food was exceptional. I definitely recommend both the lemon pepper Mahi Mahi and Tuscan Artichoke rockfish. The restaurant is also well kept. I am always impressed when a seafood restaurant does not smell fishy. This place is as high-class as Coronado itself.

Chris L.

Yelp
Very good dinner. Simply prepared cod with rice and green beans. The fish was some of the best I've ever had. Appetizer was oysters Rockefeller expertly prepared. Many places drench the oysters in butter but these were perfectly appointed and left the oyster as the star of the dish. Service was very quick and professional. Ambience was nice. Ate on the deck and had the sun the entire meal. Very nice. Price point is very high even though the food is lovely. Coronado summer prices are exorbitant. Plan on $75 per person with appetizer, dinner and water.

Yelp
The match is on... Rocky's vs Hodads! Best Burger in San Diego?!  I don't think so! The knock out punch was grilled up at The Bluewater Grill! The Wagyu cheeseburger is the new champion, for me! The taste is unmatched-tender, juicy, and a rich buttery taste! Accompanied by a side show of delicious crispy fries. And our waiter, Alek, was a great ring side referee! Great waiter! And the main event was not to be overshadow by "The Seafood Lobster Salad" we also ordered. An easy, yet elegant dish, can satisfy any fighter's cravings!! And the entire scene took place at the beautiful Coronado bay-front Bluewater grill... great ambiance!

Lea D.

Yelp
One of our clients planned a dinner here on a recent trip to San Diego. I love seafood so was really excited to check it out. There was a decent size group of us, 10 people I think, but there were plenty of spaces for large groups spread out around the restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive and made suggestions on what we should order to share versus what wasn't enough. We got a little bit of everything and did a family style meal so we all got to try different things. Everything tasted delicious and fresh! We all left full and happy.

Stef M.

Yelp
Great food, I love the warm sourdough bread served before the main dish. It's delicious. Generous amount of lobster meat inside the rolls and the draft beer is so refreshing. If you're in Coronado and looking for great food then this place worth giving a try. Service is great too, we love our young host with her kind blue eyes. We were seated by the window and we enjoyed the view looking at the yachts and seagulls while enjoying our lunch.

Corey H.

Yelp
We were exploring Coronado for the afternoon and decided on Bluewater Grill for dinner. It was a 45 minute wait. We ordered the baked crab and artichoke dip for an appetizer, and I went with the chipotle blackened swordfish on the seasonal special for my entree. Overall, the food was really good. The roasted corn atop of the fish being cold threw me off a bit but the fish was delicious. I would opt 4 stars but the service brings it down to a 3 for me. It took around 30 minutes to get the check. The server made eye contact multiple times and saw that we were ready to go. The staff servicing the tables was very prompt throughout the restaurant and had cleared our table already as well. The server may have just been overwhelmed, but we did not get an apology or notice or anything on the delay.

Jo Ann G.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch with co-workers at this restaurant and I must say, it was delightful! The food I had was amazing! Ordered a lobster roll that was incredibly fresh, savory, and perfect! The calamari appetizer had the crunch all calamari plates should have salty level was balanced it was tasty. The service provided by a gentleman was professional brought humor to the table. He was courteous and topped off our drinks every chance he could even when the afternoon was busy. The dining areas were spacious and the views of the deck and marina were a treat. If you're in the area and love seafood, I highly recommend this place!

Brit W.

Yelp
I think 4 is pretty accurate. We arrived in Coronado on a Friday night and opted for a restaurant off the Hotel del Coronad grounds. This place is across the street and was a great option. I called ahead because Yelp said they were closing in 45min, but they were welcoming and stated they were still seating parties. There was no wait upon arrival. The kids ordered from the kids' menu and had the cheeseburger slider and salmon 'dippers'. What I love most is how healthy the food was. The fries did not have too much salt. They offered juice to drink, and it included orange slices. In addition, I thought the dippers were fried, but it was baked salmon. The kids loved every bite, and we ended up getting them an additional side of fries to share. I wasn't hungry and shared the crab cakes and the steamed shellfish combo. Loved the crab cakes but did not enjoy the shellfish. We opted for the clams/mussels combo and found the broth/white wine sauce to be a bit bland. We also ordered the salmon w/ greens and mushroom and chimichurri sauce and it was AMAZING! Service was absolutely excellent! Our server Tyler was very patient and friendly, and the GM stopped by the table and was also really nice. This is located right on the water and was an absolute treat. We enjoyed and highly recommend.

Kelicia C.

Yelp
Recently visited here and I was super impressed with the service that we received. Although the food needed to be a bit more seasoned (I had fish and chips) it was okay because the service we received was amazing. We had our children with us...so that always makes this momma go into overdrive. They are young, so there are lots of things that could go wrong at our table. The waitress we had was accommodating and so patient with our kiddos that I really didn't think about how the dish could have used just a splash of old bay or lawrys LOL. The restaurant looks like a boat house in the marina and it was super chill. We saw birthday celebrations, intimate dates, and families! It was a good atmosphere and I'm sure that their other dishes are good, my husband raved about his! Definitely a great place to eat if you're visiting Coronado!

Madie's K.

Yelp
I had a big meeting with my partners at Del Coronado so I ordered a ton of sushi and dessert to go. The restaurant sent me with all the side condiments, napkins, etc. The sushi was top quality and tasted so good. We will be back to dine in next time.

Isaac L.

Yelp
My party and I had a very pleasant experience here. The food was excellent to our preferences too, we had nothing but compliments to give. Paul was our server and he was friendly and attentive. His recommendation was also the best dish we had on the table. The area was nice and relaxing, neither too quiet nor loud. I'll certainly be returning in the future.

Kieu T.

Yelp
We come here every time we go to Coronado. It's one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always excellent. My husband and I ordered the Salmon, miso black cod, calamari, and scallops. 10/10 recommend. It did not disappoint. We came at 5 on a Monday evening so service was quick and the restaurant was nice and quiet. Our server was great and offered us extra crackers for our 13 month old baby. Will definitely always come back whenever we're in Coronado.

Lance F.

Yelp
So we've come many times to this restaurant for happy hours really cool they have a shrimp lettuce wrap Taco type thing and it was really delicious today we came and I had the trout almondine and my son has the rack of ribs, he said they're delicious. The trout almondine was excellent but I think I'll have the salmon next time happy hours has a lot of good different items on it service is great highly recommend they also do a discount for veterans and Military which I appreciate and yes we'll be back again this is probably our fourth time here, but first time we've had a meal off the menu other than happy hour and it was delicious the service is wonderful here and it's a short walk to Coronado Beach happy hours from 3:00 to 6:00 I believe but you can order off the menu all day, happy hour menu separate on before I forget ordered the wedge salad it was delicious.

Lani S.

Yelp
Three stars for food. Five stars for service and location. I was really torn about how to rate this one. The food overall was just ok. The bread was warm and delicious (especially with butter). My mother in law and I both had a cup of clam chowder. We both agreed it was good. I had the fish tacos. They did not have a ton of flavor, but they weren't bad. My husband had the burger. I wish I took a photo so you could have seen what we saw. The hamburger patty itself was a a normal size, but the bun was the size of a slider. No joke-- the top part of the bun looked like a top hat on the patty. Other than that, the flavor of the burger was good. My MIL had the seafood louie salad. She said it was fine, but it either lacked dressing or didn't have dressing. (I don't know if she asked for some). Like many of the other restaurants we eat at, I looked for a dog-friendly patio. We came in the Tuesday before Thanksgiving around noon. Our party of four (and little dog) were seated right away. We were close to the front of the restaurant and like most, if not all, of the tables, we had a view of the water/harbor. The weather was a perfect 70-ish degrees. You truly can't beat the location and the view. Parking was easy. They have a lot right outside. Service was excellent. They checked in on us regularly and were really sweet with our dog, who tends to get anxious when anyone comes near the table. Four stars to balance out the just-ok food and the excellent service. What do you think?

Sheril D.

Yelp
Service was fantastic! Hannah was great in helping with menu choices and recommendations. The clam chowder was the best we've ever had! The view of the was magical. Definitely 4 stars. I can't wait to go back

Stephen S.

Yelp
We were celebrating an anniversary and came here for dinner. The location on the water in Coronado is magical and we were really looking forward to our food after a short wait to be seated. Unfortunately our orders were delivered to the wrong table and we had to wait another 15 minutes for the food to be prepared again. By that time we were really hungry and I didn't even take a picture of the food as I usually do. Because of the delay, we were comped a desert of Key Lime Pie which was delicious. I have to give 5 stars despite the mix-up because of the extra attention that was given to us on this special night.

Cin P.

Yelp
Seafood is ok. I had higher hopes, but service is great-- friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our favorite dishes were the two happy hour dishes: artichoke hearts and clams. Portions are quite miniscule, however. the Octopus appetizer was disappointingly bland and didn't have the proper sear/char, thereby giving it a less than desirable texture. Perhaps the dish would've benefitted from being marinated and broiled to finish, or even just being seasoned more beyond the sauce drizzled on top would've helped. The cioppino was just overcooked seafood in marinara and lacked any depth of flavor. The location is great if you are at Coronado Beach or checking out the famous hotel across the street. Otherwise, it's a skip for me.

Desiree L.

Yelp
It's a good tourist spot in a very nice location along the marina in Coronado to bring family and friends when visiting. Or a cute date spot. Accommodated our large family party. Food is good, not great, but the ambiance is worth it. Service is friendly and attentive. No surcharge added for our party size which was surprising as we were over 8.

Yu H.

Yelp
Wait: none for Saturday Food: very fresh seafood and flavorful. We tried clam chowder, grilled octopus, seared scallop and togarashi spiced all Tuna and we appreciated all the dishes Service : very friendly, very nice and informative Ambience : great views, outdoor seats with heating. Perfect weather to be in San Diego Price : it's worth the food

Raegan N.

Yelp
Our first time here and it was a lovely experience. We wanted to find a place to eat close to the Del Coronado hotel before we were able to check in and this fit the bill perfectly. The views are amazing. We started with a nice chilled bottle of Savignon Blanc. Then we each had a bowl of the Manhattan clam chowder, which was delicious. Very flavorful. Then he had the Sandabs with a lemon caper beurre blanc sauce and it was amazing. I had the pan seared salmon and the chimichurri sauce on the salmon was excellent. It just needed some more of the chimichurri sauce so I had a side of it. He loved his dish and I loved mine! Alexis was our server and she was very accommodating. Loved it loved it loved it!

Rich B.

Yelp
We popped into Bluewater on a Monday evening after strolling the lovely Coronado Beach boardwalk. The experience was spectacular from start to finish. The restaurant had been recommended to us and while we did not have a reservation we were able to secure a window table after a short wait at the bar (during which a couple of oyster shooters were consumed). The atmosphere throughout the restaurant was vibrant and we had a wonderful view looking east toward the San Diego mainland. We ordered crab cakes, scallops, and Bloody Mary's, all of which we enjoyed. However, the highlight of the meal was the chowder - we took the "Local Tip" from the menu which literally combined the Manhattan and New England Clam Chowders. I have never seen this done in my life and what resulted was an explosion of fantastic flavors! Plus, the clams themselves were fresh, plump, and delicious. I would return for this menu item alone. In summary, I highly recommend Bluewater to anyone finding themselves in need of a meal on Coronado, even if only visiting for a few hours.

Christina C.

Yelp
Service was phenomenal. Fish was fresh and well prepared. Fried calamari was disappointing, didn't seem as fresh and was a little chewy/overcooked. Desserts were delicious. We would come back. It's casual fish grill/oceanside vibe.

whitney g.

Yelp
Everything was great. Service, the drinks, the food and the ambiance. Great date night or family dinner!

Courtney O.

Yelp
Super impressed by the delicious food here! Clam Chowder- AMAZING! They mince the clam small so there are no chewy pieces. Rich and delicious and so so good! Chicken- Cooked so tender! Salmon- Also tender and perfect Scalloped Potatoes- Obsessed with this side Mud Pie- perfect end to a meal Everything I ate was absolutely amazing! We got to sit on the second floor. You can reserve out that floor for a larger party and serve food buffet style. Staff was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to come back soon! There's a parking lot attached with available parking in the evenings specifically reserved for the restaurant. Great views of the water.

Ursula R.

Yelp
If you're a seafood lover like me you have to try this restaurant. There is plenty of parking. I went on a Friday around 7pm and was seated right away. Our waiter provided us with great service. I will for sure be going back!

Luis R.

Yelp
Love to drive over the bridge to Coronado just for this seafood grill. The service is super friendly. The drinks are delicious. The seafood taste fresh out of the water. The view while enjoying your dinner is just so peaceful. Don't miss out.
