Such a fun location! Walking distance to everywhere on Coronado and definitely biking. The free bikes were the best way to get around. The side streets r practically free of cars and bike racks at all of the businesses makes it the best mode of transportation. The pool is not heated but was a nice place to have a picnic or breakfast. The room was spacious. The sink and closet were separated from the toilet and shower- like another room. Also was vey clean and new tiles in shower and clean floor. No bugs/roaches like in other reviews. Oh yes- front desk was always very kind.

Everyone I spoke with were so helpful & extremely friendly!! Room was clean and comfortable. I only have 2 complaints..TV channels were slim unless you like watching the news or sports a lot or have your own Netflix subscription. My second complaint is that check out is at 11am which is great but apparently the cleaning lady decided I wasn’t getting out early enough so she decided to sweep and beat on the door with her broom at 8:45am!! I felt like that was extremely rude and inconsiderate and should not be allowed ever!! Other than that it felt very comfortable, safe(women alone) and friendly!! I would definitely recommend staying there!!

The hotel is undergoing renovation. The Roms fill there purpose as a motel. It is very noisy from the street , and from the other rooms.. The personnel in the reception are kind and helpful. You can get coffee in the reception at 07,00 . Warm water in the shower takes about 5 min to get a little bit of heat.

Let me preface by saying I travel all over the world and always stay at luxury hotels. I chose this facility because all I needed was a bed, toilet and shower and its proximity to where I needed to be because of a death in the family. Toilet: clogged for an entire day on day one. Shower: Backed up 2 days running. "Maintenance wasn't in" on one of the days. Anyone can get a plumber any day of the week. No closet but not an issue for me this trip. The clerk suggested that "perhaps this isn't the hotel for you." What an insult and what an affront that a customer should expect a working toilet and shower. GO ELSEWHERE. The descriptions listed below did not include backwater. Room described above.

The service was outstanding. The cleanliness was so-so. The shower was super small and there was duct tape covering something in the shower. The location was good, we we able to walk anywhere we wanted to go. Overall, it wasn’t the worst experience but we probably wouldn’t stay there again.

Google
Positive: The location and staff of the hotel have always been great. I have been going here for 10+ years. Still love it. Negative: It was too loud outside the hotel and the the shower took a long time to heat up.

David

Google
Positive: The rooms were recently redone. The bathroom and shower was very nice, the floors were attractive and very clean. The bed was comfortable with white linens. This is a true Gem in a great location. It is very affordable compared to others in the area. Negative: ""

Google
Besides waiting in line behind the big giant black cockroach to use the bathroom, the room had a mildew smell. There was no ventilation. The floor was filthy and the sheets had holes in them. The white towels had brown marks on them. The only good thing about this place were the employees.

Yelp
I'm surprised at the not so great reviews for this hotel. We came here for a weekend staycation for my husbands birthday and I was so pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. Located right in the middle of everything in Coronado. It was nice to be able to walk a few blocks to dinner restaurants and to see the gorgeous views of San Diego Bay. We got a king suite that had a full kitchen with a full sized refrigerator and stove so it was nice to be able to make breakfast in the mornings. Everything was newly renovated. Bathroom was very nice. The bed was SO comfortable I was shocked at how comfortable it was.. even though there was no headboard it wasn't a big deal. Lots of drawers to make up for the lack of closet space. The staff service was just OK but extra sheets and blankets were easy to access. The wifi and cell service was pretty bad, it was difficult to get any service at all. We will definitely be staying here again. It was the perfect spot for a staycation. The price is very affordable for Coronado and it's a great place for families and pets too.

Yelp
Small little inn for a short vacation in Coronado. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted there with two dead cockroaches. Which we checked in early and they said they'd ensure a room was cleaned for us. The roach looked dead for a while. The walls are paper thin. You can even hear the next door neighbor flushing or the across neighbor blow drying their hair at night. Water pressure in shower and toilet flush is very minimal. Paid for nightly parking and had an issue with that. I understand it's not a luxurious hotel but paying $400 in total is pretty absurd. The front desk lady was really nice though.

Marisela W.

Yelp
Stayed here 2 nights. The hotel is run down and old. The bed is not comfortable at all, it feels and it looks dirty. . I will never stay at the Coronado Inn EVER. There is no real amenities except for run down bikes you can use to cruise around the island. The location is great on orange Ave but the hotel needs to do some upgrades. Their pictures on their website make it look like it's okay but honestly horrible experience. I would not recommend. For the price that you are paying to stay at Coronado Inn, you are better off staying else where. Not worth it. Spend the night else where. ZERO stars.

Spencer S.

Yelp
Beware! We were booked to stay here 7/26-7/28 but we left after one night. My daughter and wife woke up with bed bug bites over their face and legs. We sent pictures of the bed bug bites to the GM and asked her to inform the Department of Health. She refused. So we will have to report them on our own. The "suite" we stayed in was tiny and unsanitary. The windows appeared to have mold on the casings. And based on the way they treated us, they don't seem to care about bed bug infestation. Best of luck to you if you dare to stay at this dive.

Susan D.

Yelp
Very accommodating staff. Clean room. Air conditioning. Refrigerator. Excellent prices. I had my dog with me and she was welcomed by the staff. This place deserves more than two stars. It's perfect for regular folks who can't pay for luxury hotels but want to be comfortable and near attractions. It was perfect for me and it was well booked so others feel the same! I will be staying there again! The staff couldn't have been nicer, especially Mr. Gomez and Ms. Flores! Thanks to all.

Carolyn B.

Yelp
From the get go this room was filthy. Bathroom is covered in "personal" hair, shower head is leaking, beds all had hair in them, comforters were stained, super filthy, flooring in the room is coming up and a safety concern, outlet covers are missing (osha violation) no outside lights for the room, the railing isn't installed properly and is extremely lose, tv isn't working. Cheryl the lady in office has been super nice about it all and understanding but this place should be shut down til taken care of. She's trying to find a solution while the owner is out of town.

Yelp
Little family get away! Cute little place, its close to great dinner places and to the beautiful water and shops!! Our room was clean, cozy, and fresh! Our room had a wonderful ceiling fan that made such a difference because it's been so hot. AC works great! When you check in you are welcomed with a friendly face and fresh coffee available from 7am -10am. Parking right by our room. Free bicycle rentals woohoo!!! Great little place. Will say the convenience of being close to everything is wonderful, but it does get a little noisy in the early morning with everyone going to work possibly because our room was towards the front of the Inn. Has a cute pool too!! Overall great little place! Will be added to my favorites in Coronado

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great stay!! Clean room and nice and cold AC the GM welcomed me and my family and was so kind. He even offered dining suggestions in the area for my anniversary. Would definitely stay here again!

Enrique D.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Coronado Inn, and it was amazing! The staff was super friendly and made me feel welcomed from the start. The room was so comfy and looked really fancy. I was up late at night working on my laptop, and GM was very nice and even went out of his way to get us coffee from his personal Keurig. Since there are no coffee shops open late. The bed was like a cloud. I slept really well. The hotel is in a great spot, making it easy to check out cool places nearby. I totally recommend Coronado Inn if you want a fantastic stay with top-notch service and comfy rooms. It's a five-star thumbs up from me!

Esther G.

Yelp
Hmmmm.....let's start with the positive for this place. Parking on site, close to beach and restaurants, and dog friendly. Negatives....older spot, no phone in room to reach front desk, TV was broken, no cleaning service, iron sucks, bedding is just a sheet luckily it was hot and we brought our own blankets, and no paper towels to dry your hands.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
We stayed here a week ago and I only have 3 complaints. The cable TV sucked, the ac/heating unit sucked, and the bed was too hard. With that said the room was clean, and the location was great. I would stay here again but next time I'll get a room with a king bed like the one my friend stayed in. It seems that their bed was better and their ac/heater was better. The cable TV wasn't any better though but I'm not really there to watch TV anyway.

Jaimi C.

Yelp
This place is terrible. They checked us in an hour and a half late because our room wasn't ready. When we finally checked in, the smell of air freshener/disinfectant was so strong it was nauseating. There was trash outside our door that was never removed, left by the previous guests. The blinds were broken. It was an overall disappointment.

Dinah M.

Yelp
hmmmmm....not sure how I should review this place. I came for the location. It was walking distance to Peohe's and my husband and I stayed in Coronado for the weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Coronado Inn was the closest hotel/motel. I can definitely say it wasn't the greatest place to stay. I was actually shocked at how plain/old/run down the inn was. The room was tiny and the beds were hard. The bathroom was not up to my standards. It's a "barely minimum" type of place to stay and I can say that I will most likely not choose to stay here the next time I want to stay in Coronado. It may be a drive away but Leows or The Del is more up my alley.

Ashlee H.

Yelp
We had the family suite upstairs which I felt bad as we had four kids & 2 Adults I thought it was strange to have a family suite upstairs, I felt like I had to keep telling my kids to be quiet so the people below didn't hear them walking. The hotel for sure needs to be updated. The remote doesn't work for the back room TV. We would come back but for sure needs to be updated. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was easy grab and go stuff. Very cute town, close to the water. Eat at Nikky Rottens it's amazing and just a few short walking minutes away, same side of the street towards the water. Hoping they get an update & we will come check it out!

Frank S.

Yelp
Warm hospitality ad excellent location!! The Coronado Inn was a terrific spot for the price. The rooms are clean. They have free WiFi - Pool - Free Bikes for exploring the city. We had a blast!! We will be back for sure

Sophie B S.

Yelp
Our girl Reina hooked us up when we arrived super late and helped us sort us into our rooms! She was so kind an patient! We Reina!!!

Nikki C.

Yelp
The hotel is very nice for the most part. There are some things I'd change. The bed frames are made of metal making the bed super squeaky and kind of uncomfortable. I couldn't find the remote, have no idea what happened to it. I think they could do a better job cleaning. The staff didn't get rid of all the occupants trash that was there before us.

Hallam W.

Yelp
Stayed here for my birthday / valentines weekend. The toilet leaked really bad, I realized when I looked down and my socks were wet. The shower water didn't get warm so I couldn't shower. On checkout i advised the front office what had happened and that I wanted a refund, they said they would talk to their manager and call me. Didn't hear anything so I rang them next day, advised me they wont refund! They offered me a very small discount to stay there again, pointless as I live in OC and not interested in going there again. I accepted I wasn't going to get a refund. It got worse though. The $100 security deposit they charged me was never refunded. Im now in the process of disputing this transaction with my bank, which has been slow and painful so far. First negative yelp review...

Leisa G.

Yelp
Update: so far, they've kept $100 deposit for 2 weeks. I want my money back. I don't know what kind of scam this is, but I'm notifying my bank.

Mr M.

Yelp
No sleep,, the A/C is old and loud. at least you are indoors but our room was not comfortable. Also the parking is separate fee and they were sold out so we had to park a block away.

Hang W.

Yelp
Total agreement with Emma W. I guess it depends on which room you get. I was staying with friends for Comic Con so the rates were a bit higher than normal. Their room seemed fine. I was in room 52, which I didn't know meant 1952 (joke) since it's lack attention since then. First, it is in a great location. walking distance to restaurants, bars, grocery and liquor stores. Also close to the Ferry. You'll want to walk since they warn you multiple times that parking at the Inn is limited so you might not want to give up your parking spot. Second the staff is really friendly. The porch beverages all day is a nice touch. However, the Inn really needs some TLC. Outlets don't seem to work well. A/C can't keep up with San Diego coolness. Missing towels. Large gaps around door and A/C unit. And a funky smell. In short, I would say this is tolerable if there is a lack of available hotels or prices are high.

Cindy S.

Yelp
I can not say enough about the service we received! I almost thought I was staying at the Ritz! Charlene and Lee were so accommodating as soon as we arrived on the property. I come to the island several times a year and I will for sure be staying here from now on!! Thanks again to Lee and Charlene for making our time at the Inn so amazing!! Blessings, Cindy S. and Candace P.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Very unhappy with service & inn. Booked ADA room for husband on 5/5 posy surgery from Sharp Coromado. we want to be close to hospital since live far.Room not ADA, there was step to get in room, handicapp parking on other side of inn & front desk in am not friendly/accomodatimg. Do not reccomend Coromado inn.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Ok some salient details: They checked me into their "sister" property on the other side of Orange ave. Located at the intersection of third street and Orange Ave. arguably the busiest intersection in this small town. If you want quiet, this is not the place. I can hear the car motors and loud cycles non stop. Wi fi available but they didn't bother to give me the code. TV and remote control are unrelated. Neither has any impact on the other so no TV. Room is small, sparse, uninteresting, and reeks of disinfectant. Main property is unmaintained, shingles loose, shutters falling apart, trim around windows and doors and at the top of buildings is rotten, unpainted and needs to be replaced. The hotel is riding on the laurels of being in Coronado. There are so many better choices. El Rancho, Coronado Bistro Inn, Hell, for another 50 a night I could be at the Marriott on the bay. This place must be under new management/ownership. Not a fan and I will never waste my money again.

Danielle M.

Yelp
I paid 305$ for one night!!! I walked in to find roaches in the dresser and in the bathroom so disgusting. When I called the next day to inform them the female who answered the phone just said "okay" and paused I had to ask was this normal for them... no apology no nothing she then said the manager will be in tomorrow call him

Becky C.

Yelp
Our suite was clean, spacious, and very affordable. The breakfast was perfect, too! We will be back!

Kevin R.

Yelp
Staff is super friendly and service accommodating. Had a late check in and later check out due to travel. Area is super close to walk ways near beach, stores, and comfortable sleep areas. Breakfast to go was a plus! Will definitely be back again

Rosemary A.

Yelp
Good News: Room was clean and serviced every three days. Housekeeping staff, along with Carley and Reina at the front desk were friendly and tried to help resolve our problems. Bed was firm. Bad News: Having a reservation for a 2 week stay, we were initially given a room with neither a bar for hanging clothes nor a chest of drawers. (Upon expressing our dismay, we were moved to a room with a closet, but only 3 hangars.) With no chest, we had to store folded clothes in our suitcases, but when we asked for a second luggage rack we were told that there were none available. Wifi for our phones & iPad was spotty in our room, and never worked for our lap top. We had to get dressed and go outside for wifi. One midday we informed Charlene at front desk that our toilet was clogged. When we returned to our room 7 hours later, no one had cleared the (now disgusting) toilet. Ultimately we were given a plunger and cleared it ourselves. Repeatedly when we reported a problem to Charlene, we were greeted with a friendly assurance that it would be addressed, but learned later that the issue had not even been communicated to maintenance or housekeeping.

Natalie A.

Yelp
One word: BUGS! On my first night, I was met with a cockroach and multiple spiders. Also, an unknown bug crawled on my face while I was trying to sleep. (BEWARE OF USING YOUR PHONE IN THE DARK bc bugs will be attracted to your face) I had to sleep with the lamp on for all of the nights I was there due to the fear of another bug crawling on me. The breakfast served was unmemorable. None it was fresh. Just packaged cereal and bagels to toast. Also, while I was eating breakfast in their pool area (yup, that's where breakfast is put) a guy decided to take a swim, so I was splashed on a couple times while trying to eat my cereal. However, I gave this place two stars because its location is wonderful. I never had to drive more than 30 minutes to anywhere I wanted to go. There are shopping places nearby, and San Diego Zoo is only about 20 minutes away. The price definitely reflects the quality of the hotel, but if you don't mind bugs, this is a nice place to stay.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Charlene is a terrible manager with a poor attitude. The blinds were already messed up. They had tape and missing sections of it and we were charged for them. The blinds are cheap in the room we were in. The charged way beyond what they were worth. I even had pictures at the time to show that. She didn't listen. She was beyond rude. It's a wonderful location but a terrible manager with no social etiquette or manners. In addition, she never called me back when she said she would. So I called again and it went to voicemail. Seriously Coronado would do better without her.

Lee L.

Yelp
This is the first time my husband and I stayed at the Coronado Inn. It's a small hotel, that comes across as more of a small specialized hotel. It's more of a motel. I'll start with the good. It's right on Orange Ave, with great access to restaurants and shopping. The free summer shuttle stops a block away that goes to downtown and to the beach. And it's only a couple of blocks from the ferry landing. The room was small, but very clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is a simple free breakfast in the morning. The pool area is small and facing the street, something I didn't care for. It's also one of the cheapest places to stay on Orange Ave. Now on to why I only gave the Coronado Inn 3 stars. Our bathroom was in desperate need of remodeling. It had a lot of dry rot. Right in front of the shower, under the linoleum the floor was so rotten it was spongy. My husband said someone with a lot of weight could possibly, cause the shower pan to fall through to the crawl space, it was so bad. There was only one sink, with a loose faucet. The air conditioner had to be run all night, because the walls were very thin, and we could here the couple next door caring on a normal conversation. It is a old hotel. The parking is limited, a couple nights we had to park on the street. It did earn the 3 stars because the location is so perfect, and the staff so nice...This is a hotel, that is for families or couples who only need a place to shower and sleep...And it is pet friendly.

Riva I.

Yelp
If i could rate this place a 0 i would. we went for only two days and disliked everything about it. to start off, it started to rain and the roof started leaking which stressed us out once we had to go to sleep. second off, there were a lot of bugs so me and my family had to sleep with one eye open. there was no manager to talk to in the lobby, it was very outdated, and overpriced for no reason. i recommend not to stay here at all.

Roshawndra C.

Yelp
The office staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and well stocked. All around great experience. I will visit again soon!

Tawnie W.

Yelp
Didn't even stay here because this motel cancelled our booked and paid for reservation one week before our vacation. We got our refund but that's horrible service. After reading reviews I'm glad we stayed somewhere else cleaner.

Gladys G.

Yelp
After the seeing the reviews about this hotel we were a little weary about staying here. We stayed their two nights and the price was reasonable. Room 8 was clean and offered one king sized bed, table with two chairs, mini fridge, microwave and bath towels. I liked the cozy feel to the room and so did my husband and two little boys. The hotel also offers free breakfast (cereals, oatmeal, bagels, fruits, coffee.) The location was great. It is close to the Coronado Ferry landing, shops and food! The staff was kind to us and so were the other hotel guests. We had no trouble with the parking. The one negative we encountered was the wifi did not work. If we ever get the chance to come back to San Diego, we will definitely stay at the Coronado Inn!

Chuck G.

Yelp
Truly a shithole!!! Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We made reservations in January for two nights in August for a room with at least a Queen sized bed. When we arrived we were given a room with a full sized bed. They said none were available. Then why make a reservation? The room was small, dark, carpet was dirty, it was a total dive! Nothing like what was presented on the website. We are in the process of fighting the charges with our CC company. A classic example of bait and switch.

Marco G.

Yelp
We had roaches in our room!!! No hot water our first night and when we did have hot water the water pressure in the shower sucked. Parking sucked we had to park across the street one night. Also lobby closes early (I think 8pm) so if you have any issues like no hot water per se you have to wait till someone comes in at 8am to let them know. I would never stay here again. The only good thing about this place is the location and free beach cruiser rental. They are right down the street from a great brewery and a good walk to the beach.

T L.

Yelp
There was a time when we enjoyed staying here. Rooms were small, but clean. Price was 99.00. But my goodness, how things have changed! Rooms are 150 and above. Still small, but with added sink and shower mold, an old band aid in the bed and plenty of ants wandering around. The owners just don't seem to care anymore. Now , if you enjoy ants and mold, that's fine. But personally, I do not. The "cheapest" motel on the island is exactly what it has become - a cheap motel.

Angela D.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING! The entire staff or "family" that run this joint are extremely rude and incompetent. It is absolutely the filthiest place I have ever seen in my entire life. If you have stayed here in the past and had a good time you got super lucky! I unfortunately did not. Not only would i not recommend this place, I don't understand how the board of heath hasn't shut this place down after my stay and reading the reviews on here. Heed my advice, You will regret spending your time and money on this. If you want to stay on the island spend a little bit extra and get something that is at least clean. The staff do not care about you and will take your money. You won't even receive their courtesy.

Chelsea A.

Yelp
There is no water pressure in the shower so plan on being in for at least 20 minuets. Shower and sink had a little mold but at least we didn't see any bed bugs. And ask for extra blankets bc you only get on sheet.

Ted E.

Yelp
What a rip off place. We went there because they were "dog friendly." I told the desk person that we were glad they were dog friendly because we said we had two dogs. They also told us to park in a certain spot in front of rooms so we did. Later that evening I got a text from my credit card company that they were charging us another $260. When we got back to the motel I went in the office and ask about the charges and she said "I don't know." When we checked out the next day we saw the charges for parking and they said we didn't say we had dogs which was a total lie and they charged us for parking which they didn't tell us there was a charge. I asked to speak to the manager or owner about the charges and the desk person said that the person was not available. I sent an email to the motel and got no response. The room was tiny and over $200 per night. DO NOT STAY THERE! If you like to get lied to and ripped off, stay there! THere is a better hotel just down the street. There was a coffee maker in the room but no cups! I had to go to the office to get coffee and drinking cups! They seem to figure out how to keep deposits and charge your credit card without your permission.

J H.

Yelp
lets see where to start 1. Was told they would call me when parking came available they never did! no surprise there. 2 .the channel selection on the tv was crap 4 kid channels and pbs 3. The air conditioner didn't work all it did was circulate hot air

Joy P.

Yelp
I have to give a 3 star review, however the stay was pleasant. The hotel is dated for sure. The price was very reasonable and most of all the staff was amazing. Nothing terrible to report other than the cleaning crew must not open the drawers in the rooms because we found old moldy food left over. Easy to take care of and throw away. The bathroom And showers need work and the little things like iron as ironing board could be replaced. Having the bikes was nice, however they were a bit beat up, some had flat tires and weren't even rideable. Overall not bad if you aren't planning on staying in the room much and just wanting a place to crash on Coronado. But if the owners want honest feedback those are a few times to consider. I would stay there again. Would be great if small changes could be made.

Daniela A.

Yelp
Horrible hotel, I wouldn't even rate it a 1. Door lock was broken so we had to prop a chair under the Door handle, the bathroom had mold, the water from the shower head hardly came out, there were stains in the carpet so we laid towels down to walk on, the bed was horrible, the mini blinds were missing slats. I could seriously go on and on. DO NOT STAY HERE!! Oh I almost forgot there not enough parking spaces for the amount of rooms they have so if you come back to your room and the parking spots are full have fun driving around the neighborhoods looking for somewhere to park!! The pool was also closed the entire time.

Harley Q.

Yelp
I stayed in Unit #1 for SDCC 2018. The only nice thing nice I have to say about this place is it is convenient located. Just down the street is a liquor store, grocery store, restaurants, and the Ferry all within walk distance. An awful smell was coming from the wall A/C unit. I learned that it wasn't pumping in fresh air when I looked out the bathroom window. There was an enclosed storage area behind that wall. The room was hot and humid regardless of the A/C running or opening the windows. It was always cooler outside. WiFi was a joke. We couldn't even get a decent signal the whole time we were there. TV reception was awful. Nothing came in clear. The room had ants and bugs everywhere. The shower floor was filthy. Sometimes there wasn't hot water. Other times the water would turn scalding hot. The carpet was nasty. I felt like I was staying in a mobile home. There is only about 10 parking space. A can of soda was $1.25 from the office. I would never stay here again. Now I have to go wash everything I had with me to try and get that awful smell out.

Wendy L.

Yelp
This place is where I usually stay when I'll be in town for one or two nights. The price of hotels on the island is really expensive and this place is usually the second cheapest one. I don't know if they have Internet but they have decent size rooms with showers and bathrooms. Nothing super frilly, but will certainly get you by and not burn out your pocketbook while staying on Coronado Island

Mike C.

Yelp
Loved my stay at the Coronado Inn. Caesar at the front desk is a great guy who more than helped when my TV remote wasn't working. The place is clean as a whistle and quiet as a church mouse. The only thing I can tell you is the showers are small, other than that everyone was polite, the neighborhood is fantastic and the location is central to everything wonderful about Coronado Island. I will definitely stay here again. Can't beat the price and why would you try?

Karla C.

Yelp
It was such a cute quiet little place. My room looked exactly like the pictures and the staff is really nice. I will be coming back here again, such a great price for a nice get away.
