Corte San Pietro sure knows how to pamper its visitors, and we enjoyed being spoilt. Beautiful 16th century buildings, including amazing interconnected cisterns underneath the hotel-complex itself, spacious rooms with private bathrooms, a luxurious breakfast with live music, and very kind and professional staff all around. Location is right in the middle of the Sassi areas of Matera, so everything you might want to see is at easy walking distance. Finally, getting there by the perfectly organised shuttle service from the Sant'Isodoro car park was another luxury not to be missed! Thanks to you all for two amazing days!

Wonderful experience sleeping in a cave- Room was spacious as it had a separate sitting area-- hotel is extremely convenient to the cave portion of Matera and Matera is a must see if you are anywhere near the area. Close to a number of good restaurants-- excellent breakfast. Bed was a little soft and the bathrooms are small ( understandable given it is a cave) . Lovely open courtyard to relax in the afternoon with some snacks and wine that you can order from the hotel. Mini fridges in room. Only negative was the challenge with parking at the specified garage and relying on the third party shuttle service to the hotel, 3 separate groups arrived around the same time so was a long wait and the shuttle service was running behind the day we left so give yourself ample time -- parking is an issue in town and ||I would not let the parking/shuttle deter from staying in this lovely setting. Matera was on of our highlights in the Puglia region

Corte san Pietro offers a unique experience!|The rooms are limestone caves, elegant yet warm. The staff provided excellent service and made you feel very welcome. Angela greeted us at breakfast, a piano was played during and the food was delicious. Reception staff provided suggestions for restaurants and guidance for exploring Matera. Would highly recommend and use the service from the car park instead of dragging suitcases… lots of stairs!

Corte San Pietro is the most memorable hotel we have ever stayed at. There is something magical about staying in the Sassi and specifically in Corte San Pietro. The hotel and its amenities itself were amazing but the hospitality of the staff made it a perfect stay. The location of the hotel was very ideal, and close to many sights & restaurants in the Sassi. Table service breakfast was the best we’ve had. We are so happy we decided to stay in Corte San Pietro. I very highly recommend to stay here! Grazie, Fernando!

We were traveling around Southern Italy and we thought of visiting Matera. When it was time to choose our hotel. My husband and some chose Corte San Pietro for several reasons. Entrance was near the road - no need to climb steep stairs to reach the front desk. They had reserved parking slots in a parking garage with transfers (for a fee) to and from it. But the hotel offers more - The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms kept the integrity of the cave theme but were modern and cozy. There was constant hot water for showers. The bed was large and firm. Breakfast was plentiful and yummy. ||We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. I highly recommend you stay here if you are in Matera

Corte San Pietro, for my wife and I, is and will always be the most magical and perfect experience we have ever had in our lives. We have been to many incredible places, but nothing compares to the magical Corte San Pietro. Matera is incredible, of course, but without the Hotel it would not be the same.|It is like being in a movie where every detail has been carefully thought out. And they did.|And it was by chance. The universe took us there. We arrived in Matera, in the upper part of the city and, after leaving our car in the parking lot, we went down by transfer to the historic city. When we arrived in front of a highly rated hotel that we had selected, we did not feel well. It was as if there was no connection. My wife went with the driver to see other options that he said he knew of in the village. She came back delighted! She was met by the incredible Giuseppe who, from the beginning, won her over. We immediately moved into the magical world. At check-in, we met the incredible and smiling Fernando Pontes who, upon learning that it was my wife's birthday, gave us an upgrade to an even more incredible room.|The hotel is the most charming villa I have ever seen, with rooms in the city's old cisterns, as if we were in the middle of a romantic Italian film. Everyone's smiles and joy in serving were inexplicable.|The cleanliness is extraordinary, the breakfast is wonderful, with gluten-free and lactose-free options, and for more than one day, we enjoyed an incredible performance by a guest pianist. The decor is incredible. In every corner, there is a detail, an incredible historical piece, a book, an armchair. As I said, every detail is incredible.|Giuseppe provided us with all the tips and restaurant reservations, all of which were incredible and all of them treated us with great care as their guests. We will always remember one particular evening when we came back with half a bottle of rosé and decided to sit outside the room to enjoy the moonlight. When the staff saw us arriving, even though it was almost midnight, they brought us warm bread with butter and fruit to accompany our drink.|In addition, they recommended cities to visit, hotels, guesthouses and restaurants in various parts of Puglia, all the way to Lecce.|Another very important point. When we left, the parking van was not available and Fernando, in his own car, took us there with our bags. Another incredible kindness we received.|One particular episode for which I would like to thank them for their patience and even apologize. The rooms are unique and historic, as are their keys. Unfortunately, in the rush to pack our things, we took the room key without realizing it had happened. We realized it on the road and immediately stopped in Altamura to look for a post office to send it to them (this really upset us because we realized later that they had called us on WhatsApp but we were not online to notice). At the post office, the staff introduced us to a resident of Matera who promised to take the key back free of charge and he did. Grazie Mille Antonelo!!|For me, who has worked in services for over 20 years, it was like being in a place where everything was an example that I wanted to take and reflect on for the companies where I worked.|We hope to return soon! We talk practically every day about returning to Corte San Pietro soon and we hope to find the same smiles and friends we made there.|Thank you all, Fernando Pontes, dear Giuseppe! We recommend it to everyone who wants to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we will see you again soon!

This was one of the most unique and beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. The attention to detail with every item that is placed throughout is truly artistic. We had a beautiful breakfast and the owner came down and introduced himself and explained that it was his goal that his guest felt like family. Matera is some place that should never be missed. It was the highlight of my Italian holiday

Yelp
Corte san Pietro is a beautiful modern hotel in a perfect location near the base of Sasso Caveoso in Matera. Each room in the hotel is unique, and most are located in the old caves ("sassi") that give this section of Matera it's timeless character. But the hotel amenities all are modern and up-to-date. You're literally right across the street from entrances to famous sites such as San Pietro Caveoso, Madonna D'dris, and San Giovanni in Monterrone, and steps away from numerous alleyways and streets leading through the Sasso Caveoso district. Hotel staff are cordial and incredibly attentive. They made us feel very welcome indeed; their introduction to the Sassi district upon arrival is particularly helpful for newcomers. The breakfast was sumptuous Lucanian feast. (Don't miss the ancient cisterns they discovered underneath the property when building the hotel...entrance located in the breakfast area.) All in all, a really magical place. One note on parking: because of its location in the traffic-limited Sassi district, the hotel doesn't have adjacent parking. However, they suggest several local garages; we'd recommend Damasco on Recinto XX Settembre; nice attentive people, and for a small charge they'll shuttle you to the hotel door.
