"Joaquim José Cortiço spent some 30 years salvaging discontinued azulejos from manufacturers, amassing an enviable hoard. In 1979 he established a hardware shop and soon made a name for himself as the go-to man for tile repairs, often receiving letters from people looking for rare replacement pieces. Today, Joaquim’s netos (grandsons) – João, Pedro, Tiago and Ricardo Cortiço – have injected new life into the business with this smart retail space. Displayed on simple pine shelves in a pixelated patchwork, the ever-expanding collection now includes more than 300 different patterns and millions of square metres of tiles. Designs range from blocky mid-century geometrics to kitsch floral motifs and are sold both individually and in batches."
My experience here was truly amazing. We wanted a real souvenir from Portugal and it was definitly this place that fulfilled this wish. 🇵🇹
There was so many patterns to chose from. The employee there was so kind and was really helpful in our search and understanding the shop’s purpose and the provenance of the tiles. We are now exposing a handmade piece in our home. ❤️🦊
We wish they could ship in Canada so we could buy more whenever we feel the need! 🇨🇦

A wonderful shop in Lisbon! They have a beautiful selection of traditional Portuguese tiles, perfect as decoration or souvenirs. The quality is excellent, with both classic and modern designs to choose from. The staff is welcoming and very knowledgeable, happy to explain the history and styles. A must-visit if you’re looking for something authentic to take home.

My friends and I were vacationing in Portugal from Canada. One of the main things we wanted to do was to come to Cortico &Netos and buy some tile. After walking around for awhile to find it , we realized it was closed but the owner was there and let us in his beautiful shop to buy. The pieces I chose will be going into my kitchen tile. I just love it. The owner was so kind and wonderful. Such beautiful tile! Beautiful store

Visited this shop today with my daughter on the search for gifts for ourselves and for friends back home. There was a wide selection to choose from and we spent quite some time deciding. Had cork put on the back so they could be used for hot plates. Staff were very nice. Would love to be able to buy boxes of these tiles to redo a bathroom. 😀

Walked here from town after seeing the rave on Google, and saw someone actually buying a big stack of tiles for some projects at home. While we tried our best to find a souvenir to bring home, we can’t find any that appealed to us and hence left empty handed. The selection whilst seemingly huge, didn’t cater to folks who are here for souvenirs, which we actually shouldn’t be anyways - but definitely looks great if you are shopping for some home renovation projects.

We ran to catch this shop before closing time on our last night in Lisbon and what a delightful decision that turned out to be. Absolutely lovely shop! They were so helpful in finding the perfect tile for us, and their patience with our indecisiveness was also greatly appreciated.

Beautiful shop, amazing collection of unique and stunning tiles. The owner is so lovely, friendly and is very passionate about the shop. We found it very interestingto hear about the history behind the shop. They also have amazing attention to detail when it came to packaging for travelling and gifting, and it was very well priced. It was also a very fun activity to pick out tiles, and I'd recommend this shop to anyone looking for a unique activity and souvenir from Lisbon. It was a great end to our last day in Lisbon.

If you are looking for tiles in the city (presumably for souvenirs) this is probably your best bet. The shop sells old stock from 50 odd years ago. The space is small and charming and full of boxes of tiles, neatly stacked so you can see what's what. The brothers running the place are really friendly! The tiles we bought cost us 15 euros for 4. (They have tiles for a little under 2 euros each, and fancier once a that are a little over 5.) The store itself is a cool spot to see. They done a nice job with everything.
