"The result of a collaboration between top gastronome Rudi Kull and architect Albert Weinzierl, this small but cozy hotel features a modern, fairly Zen interior, a great restaurant, a lively bar, and intimate, friendly service. Spread over several buildings, the hotel’s 75 rooms are elegant and minimal, with sedate and earthy color schemes and fantastic use of regional materials from linen and Jura stone to bronze and bog oak. Aside from the parquet floors, kilim rugs, and custom-made furniture, there are eco-friendly bed linens, REN products in the bathroom, and big flat pillows you can crush into any shape you want. Some of the rooms and suites also come with faux fireplaces. The bar and restaurant are popular among locals, and the courtyard patio provides ample mingling opportunities."

Cortiina Hotel (Munich, Bavaria) 34 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Some high-design boutique hotels come on like your “cool” uncle, the one who’s wearing a lampshade for a hat by the end of Christmas dinner; so determined are they to be fun that it’s almost enough to put you off the very idea of fun for life. So it’s a relief when a hotel can be confident and visually striking without continually cracking jokes and trying hard to impress." - Tablet Hotels

Cortiina Hotel became one of my favourite hotels. Every single one of your staff are professional, friendly and helpful. To start off with that was my first time in Munich. They showed me which way to go and explained it nicely. Breakfasts were absolutely my favourite. Such a variety of food. Room was really nice and not to mention the location of this hotel is so convenient. Highly recommended. Definitely coming back. 10/10

What a nice welcoming: even before you park your car. Great location for shopping and culture and Munich atmosphere. Large rooms well equipped and very clean. Comfortable big beds. They are very dog-friendly: our two dogs get a toy, a goody and a nice bed each. The breakfast was great…. All typical specialties that you do wish to eat here. Well done. We'll come back

Perfect location! Excellent service from a friendly and attentive staff. The room was clean and well-maintained. CAUTION: The sahower is in a tub and the step into the tub is relatively high -- my wife and I stood by while the other entered it. That said, the location made any minor cautionary inconvenience worth it!

After reading hundreds of reviews for hotels in Munich for our family of 5, we settled on Cortiina Hotel. The location couldn’t have been better. I was worried after reading some reviews that the rooms were too small, it was too dimly lit, it was loud and the beds were hard. We were pleasantly surprised at the size and layout of the rooms! We got a Superior Double room for my husband and I, and a Cortiina Double Deluxe (plus a rollaway bed) for our 3 young adult children (ages 16, 19 and 21). The space in both rooms was more than adequate. We didn’t mind the dimly lit hallways, it added ambiance in our opinion. We were surprised to have a microwave, Nespresso maker, electric kettle, a set of dishes and utensils and a dishwasher in our Superior Double Queen room, a sofa, a desk and plenty of closet space! The same was to be said for the second room, with the addition of a cooktop. We requested toppers on our beds prior to arrival and found the beds to be comfortable. The front desk was very helpful and arranged our airport transfers for us prior to our arrival. As for noise, I didn’t find it to be out of the ordinary or bothersome. We faced the street. Our boys indicated there was a bit of noise on their side which faces a “courtyard” for lack of a better word. Simply closing the window and using the a/c took care of that. We did not utilize the breakfast but the back patio which is open to enjoy your meal (as well as inside) looked lovely. My boys used the gym and it was adequate for them. The wine bar was lovely and the staff so welcoming and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed capping off our evenings there. A wonderful wine selection as well. My boys loved the more boisterous atmosphere of the lively English pub just around the corner for their night cap and it became their regular late night hangout after a day of enjoying everything Munich has to offer. The pub held a mix of young and old and people from all over the world. If I were to have one slight “complaint” it was the shower setup was a bit annoying until you get used to it and we inadvertently flooded our bathroom twice. Also, the drains on both the shower/tub combo and the bathroom sink were slow to drain. The large bathtub was a plus to lounge in but beware if you have mobility issues as the side of the tub is quite high. All and all, we are thrilled with our choice to stay at Cortiina Hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Honestly, one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. I generally like to stay at Andazz but gave Cortiina a try this time and man, what a hotel and service. The staff were always smiling and so so helpful. The rooms are beautifully designed. The breakfast was great but having stayed for a week, would’ve been happier if they kept new dishes - good breakfast but the same everyday. We stayed in the junior suite which was big with a great view. Would come back again without thinking

I traveled with my husband and (adult) son to Munich - the Cortiina hotel did not disappoint, we all loved it! We’re from the USA, and communication was easy as the hotel staff spoke excellent English. There is an elevator to the room, and the facility has A/C that worked perfectly. Our room was completely quiet. Rooms are quite modern - the beds in some photos we saw looked small, but our queen size was a true queen sized bed. The bed is 2 mattresses placed on a single slat frame, but there was no gap in between and the bed was amazingly comfy! Pillows were really thin, but fear not - there is a pillow “menu” with descriptions of all kinds of pillows that are available - neck support, back or side sleepers, firm or soft - very cool! Just go to the desk and ask for what you want. The closet is quite large with hangers and several shelves, and the bathroom is very nice. Be aware, at least in our room, that the tub/shower is somewhat elevated so it may be difficult for some people to step into, and there were 2 steps up to get into the closet. We did not request an “accessible” room, so there may be rooms available to accommodate people with mobility issues. Also - the shower door is unusual - it covers about half the length of the tub when opened up - don’t open it all the way or you’ll SOAK the floor - open the shower door so that the part that swings open remains in the tub, sort of making a little “room” for your shower space. I know this makes zero sense as I describe it, but when you’re there you’ll see what I mean. Everything was sparkling clean, and they had DAILY room service! What a treat! The only thing I didn’t prefer was that they have refillable hand/body soap at the sink and in the shower, which I seriously dislike - seems potentially quite unsanitary as people can tamper with this - but it’s really rare now for a hotel to offer new, travel-sized products anymore. The location is great, we were close to everything! Honor bar in the room, key required to enter the building for peace of mind. We did a tour of Dachau and the Neuschwanstein Castle, but we walked to the touring facility and the only Uber we took was to the train station when we left Munich. The city (at least from the hotel area) is quite walkable, people are out at least until 10-ish when we retired for the evening and we felt completely safe. Close to restaurants, shops, everything! Recommend 10/10.

Google
Highly recommend🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟This is a magnificent hotel. The staff at the front desk are super friendly and do a great job of taking care of you as soon as you walk in. The room I had 106 overlooking the street was wonderful with a balconette and loved that doors and windows opened to the lively street. The windows and doors are incredibly sound proofing. The breakfast was so fresh, gourmet and delicious!! The staff is the best. Seriously so on top of everything and with a friendliness that is endearing. . The gym is well equipped with! Hammer Strength equipment , weights, kettle bells, and more.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel in a centralized location. Lots of bars, restaurants and shopping close by. We were even able to walk (2k) to the Oktoberfest grounds. Outstanding service and the front desk team are superstars - helping us with transportation & reservations and responding quickly to requests. Rooms are relatively small (by US standards ) but nicely appointed and very comfortable. The universal power adapter is a nice thoughtful touch. I enjoyed my week long stay there.

Yelp
This place sucks. The hotel rooms are small even the apartments or small. You have to have one key which controls your entire light system so if your spouse or partner leaves your hotel, you were left in the dark. This is ridiculous and a damn joke I will never stay here again and they're horrible.

Yelp
Really nice hotel! It was very quite and relaxing. Bathrooms were very nice as well. There is a rooftop you can go out and sit on, and it offers a nice view of the tops of the city buildings. Would recommend it!

Yelp
absolute gem right in heart of old towne 5 min walk from the clock and Marineplatz, yet on a side street therefore ur sheltered from the crowded. We had 4 people in the family and took 405/406 which are joined. These are the biggest rooms on the 4th floor with a sitting area. Beautiful herringbone wood parquet floors, lots of windows facing south. Very helpful staff, valet overnite parking for Euro 22. Awesome breakfast which u should negotiate into ur price.

Yelp
Never reviewed a hotel on Qype, so here goes: Small Hotel smack in the middle of Munich.i.e. two minutes stumble from the Hofbräuhaus, etc. The Hotel seems to pride itself on its design chops and this, along with location, seems to be the major selling point. Frankly most travelers could do with more comfort, and less esoteric design. The showers, for example, have cabinet style doors surrounding them which you can open and essentially shower in the middle of the room for all to see. This could be a nice little kinky gag if you happen to be there with a smoking hot person of the opposite sex. But weirdly, there was no soapdish anywhere, and the designer showerhead is directly over your head so you 1) have to stand there with the darned tube of soap in your hand whilst washing your unmentionables, and 2) can't stand anywhere but directly under the shower head. So it was a bit weird frankly. It looked like something out of a style magazine but was fantastically impractical. Anyway, all was forgotten when I hit the breakfast buffet since I'm a cheese fiend and they had the best selection of French cheeses you could imagine. All in allllocation = great (quiet street near the tourist spots), good place for fans of design, not so much if you're into COMFORT, good buffet, have no idea what it cost.

Yelp
This is a very good hotel with an excellent location. I emailed the staff before I arrived explaining I would be on honeymoon. Hey wrote back immediately saying they would do something special. We arrived at 8am and they actually had a room for us. When we arrived in the room their were flower petals on the bed in the shape of a heart with chocolates and a very nice note from the staff. The location couldn't be any better. You are a two min walk from the glockenspeil and only a 15min walk from Munich main train station. The room was above and spacious with an awesome bathtub. Would definitely stay again

Yelp
Great value and excellent service! I love how they have a "pillow" menu on your bed for you to chose what type of pillow you want with more than 4 fancy options, the location is unbeatable, in the middle of it all in the center of Munich, their restaurant is nice, yummy hot food and the best part: they park your car in their garage and keep it there even after you check out and want to walk around town and go sight seeing. The room and bathroom are a bit tiny but it's still pretty good since we just went to the room to sleep anyways and there is this nice mist spray to make the room smell neat I am taking home w me! They also own another hotel near by called Louis which has amazing sushi restaurant. This is the place to stay in Munich a lot of bang for your buck :)

Yelp
Loved our stay at the Cortiina. We were in the annex, which was quiet and close to everything. Our small balcony looked out over the rooftops, and the space was perfect for two people. Easy 2 min walk from Marienplatz- which is a station that connects to the airport. Location is so central that we didn't take any other transportation. Staff were friendly and gracious, and remembered us by name. Breakfast is fantastic (if pricey at 24.50). We live in Italy, so I can confidently say the cappuccino was perfect. Farm fresh eggs, chia seed studded yogurt, and bavarian sausage. Amazing. Wish we had stopped in for cocktails, but we only stayed two nights. Hope to be back...

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous 3 nights at the Cortina Hotel in Munich, a stylish boutique hotel that is part of the Design Hotels group. We had a wonderful room with a cool modern bathroom. The room and bath were well-designed and, while not large, certainly larger than most hotel rooms in Europe. We even had a little seating area, that was nice. Our room was on the 4th floor in the building next door to the main hotel and had a balcony where you could see the quaint towers of the old city. The location is perfect because you can walk right into the old city and see the Glockenspiel musical clock tower (a large, historic and fanciful cuck-coo clock) or go to the famous biergartens . Cortina Hotel's staff was friendly and offered warm welcoming service. They were attentive and very helpful, including giving excellent restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. I had booked a package that included breakfast and that was awesome! The breakfast buffet was one of the finest I've seen (and we travel extensively), complete in every way from gourmet honey on the comb to cappuccinos, fresh-baked goods, high quality smoked salmon, wonderful meats as you'd expect on a charcuterie boardand fresh-sqeezed juices. Even if you do not book a breakfast package, I suggest you treat yourself to the buffet as a special treat - it's not inexpensive, but it is worth it! Across the street from the exquisite Cortina Hotel is a little Italian restaurant named Il Giro and a few blocks over is another wonderful Munich restaurant Kull. This was a really great experience and I highly recommend the Cortina Hotel!

Yelp
Awesome location- walking distance to all main attractions. One or two minute walk from the Hofbrauhaus. Clean and comfortable room, large for Europe, would definitely stay again. AC works well for August weather. Only negative- breakfast buffet is expensive (25 euros per person).

Yelp
Cortiina is one of those cool boutique hotels I want to love. Unfortunately, after spending a week here with my family in one of their two-bedroom apartments, I left feeling like it's also one of those boutique hotels that ends up suffering from "form over function" (i.e., most things here looked better than they actually were) -- and I will try somewhere else next time. Highlights of our stay: - Outstanding location in Altstadt, near everything but surprisingly quiet - Extremely friendly, English-fluent and well-meaning staff throughout the visit - Appealing modern design in rooms and lobby - The 2 bedroom apartment layout, though really more like a suite with some sliding doors, worked well for our family of 5 - In-room espresso maker with single-serving packets Issues during our stay: - The air conditioning was decidedly second rate; our room was never below 27 degrees celcius. Granted we were there during a heat wave and it was often high 30s outside, but hey, that's when you want the A/C to work properly. - One of the bathrooms smelled awful and needed a professional plumber's attention. Despite my daily conversations with staff and management to this effect, they kept coming up to pour the equivalent of Clorox down the drain, which would help for a couple hours at best. When the technical guy finally agreed with me that a plumber was needed, he also shrugged that it was Saturday, so best they could do was Monday afternoon. - Various elements of the room design were well intended but impractical. For instance, translucent bathroom doors that don't latch. Or the motion-sensing closet light that goes off 5 seconds after you open the door. - The marketed free wi-fi means one consecutive hour per day, for which you have to call the front desk for a code each day. If you want to say, check weather in the morning and email at night, you're paying $20 per day. - I was told that my rate did not include breakfast, but when I went to check-out, it turned out that I had paid for free breakfast (that we never ate) all week! Their generous handling of this? One day's breakfast fee removed from our tab. All in all, it was a disappointing experience given that it should be a top notch place. Nonetheless, we had a good week and it generally met our needs. I think the best use case for this would be a fun adult's weekend when you want to enjoy the hip bar and address but don't care as much about infrastructure.

Yelp
Location is excellent and would get a 5 from me for that alone. Rooms are spacious and the service is good. It is quite expensive for what it is and for that reason alone I would probably not return here. No other complaints about this place at all.

Wendy F.

Yelp
Loved this hotel. The location was perfect. Only 2 blocks from the Viktualienmarkt, the famous outdoor food market, about 5 blocks to Marienplatz center and 15 minute walk to Hauptbahnhof central train station. Easy walking distance to many other places, like the Royal Residence Palace. Quiet location and very good AC. It was in the 90's while we were there and since many hotels don't have central air, this was a life saver! Daily breakfast buffet was excellent and the hotel staff was very friendly. They had free bikes that we used to spend a day riding through the English Gardens. Our room was #428 and came with a mini kitchen. The only negative thing I can think of is there needs to be a towel hook on the back of the bathroom door and a bath mat is needed in the tub, as it was very slippery. I highly recommend spending a little more and staying here. Well worth the upgrade from the cheaper hotels in the grittier neighborhoods near the train station. Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the patio area, however the main street is very quiet as well.

Helen S.

Yelp
We stayed in the annex - very comfortable room and quite spacious (even bathroom). Helpful front desk staff. Love the customized pillows :) great location - 1 block to everything but on a quiet street. We stayed during hot weather (+30) and AC worked great.
