41 Best Tote Bags for Commuting, Beach Trips, and Souvenir Shopping

"It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I’ve used this bag every single day since I bought it. I love the quilted design but the real selling point for me was the size; not only can I carry my daily essentials, but I’ve actually used this as a weekender."

Google
Cos has never fit me very well and other than a few tee’s I haven’t found anything that works on me. I went in to look at a bag I had seen online and decided to try on a dress and sweater that were right up my alley. They were perfect! Have my eye on a few more pieces! New design team??

Google
*Edit - also worth noting the security camera has visibility into the dressing room…which made me feel very uncomfortable. Friendly staff, but inefficient system. They checked their system to see if they had stock of an item but suggested I go look around for it because they weren’t sure where it was located in the store. Waited for 15 minutes in the waiting room for a different size of something only to be told they didn’t have it after all.

A nice everyday wear for men and women. It has a good variety of fashion forward selection of clothes. It offers good color palate and design alternatives.

The staff is very attentive, and I found everything I was looking for in the store. There are plenty of product options, and I definitely recommend their store in Soho!

The Foodie Architect

Google
This is one of my favorite clothing store since it opens first door here 2014. The style is timeless and the architecture cuts that shape your body in sculpture way. It’s subtle but sophisticated.

Alice in Wonderland

Google
This place has Amazing fashion staff that are super nice & able to put fashion looks together for me!

I often wouldn't waste my time writing a negative review but there’s a first time for everything. I went in this evening to exchange a belt for another size. Customer service here is horrible. The gentleman helping was so disconnected and came off as condescending. For this to be such a prestigious store, and in the location it’s in, on top of the money being spent, you would think you’d get proper treatment - unfortunately this wasn’t the case. A word of advice to the staff here; if you don’t have the patience or common decency to treat a customer nicely, you’re in the wrong line of business. You need to do better! Very disappointed.

Amazing people clothes and Trendy atmosphere and I enjoy their parties 🥰

Yelp
Open in this location for a year. So, super popular in the UK, above Zara in terms of price and below say J Crew. What makes Cos clothes 5 star is the fit, finish and style on offer for (relatively) low outlay. Crisp clean shapes, muted and subtle colours and finishing touches shouldn't work at this price level but they do with Cos menswear. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I ordered a coat from COS online. They sent me the wrong coat, which I returned. They sent the coat back to me stating that the garment tag was switched. I did not switch any tags, nor did I receive the coat I ordered. I spoke to a supervisor at COS customer service who was indifferent and did nothing to address my situation. I am going to return this coat in-person at the store and I am never purchasing another item from this very poorly run organization.

Paola J.

Yelp
I went on Saturday trying to look for a coat for my husband due to the cold weather and I wasn't quite sure what to get him. I kindly asked the cashier who was up front if he would be kind enough to help me out and his attitude was just disgusting and appalling. He was constantly on his phone rolling his eyes at other customers, including me. Wow what a service! I wasn't able to get his name as he refused to give it to me, but I did hear a different employee call him "gia" or gio" I wasn't really sure. Never returning!

Carol L.

Yelp
I love the clothing at COS. The workmanship is excellent, and I find their salespeople helpful and attentive. Shopping is always easy, as the store has a very calm vibe, very spacious with nice lighting. I have learned that if you don't grab something right away, it won't be there for long. While they are pricier than Zara and other stores, the quality by far makes up for it. The quality compares to stores who charge 4-5x their prices. I love the fact that they make so much clothing in purples, blues and greens. I got a fabulous purple metallic chunky oversized sweater last fall that I wore almost every day through the winter. It still looks brand new. All of their sweaters are soft and comfortable.

Gina K.

Yelp
The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. So many workers no help. Top down.

Lady K.

Yelp
Service sucks. Quality of clothing subpar. What else do you need to know? So many better stores in NYC

Yelp
Let me preface by saying I love Cos. I particularly luv the location in the Oculus at the WTC. Anyway, I had to make an online return at the Spring Street location. The associate that actually helped me was really wonderful. The problem is there is an associate there ( I've passed her before) . She gives this me this glare. ( like what am I doing in here) not the first time either. Never greets me ,just glares at me. It's okay though. Maybe she has chronic "Resting b#%ch face....

Nomiko J.

Yelp
Terrible customer service! Could not get decent help over phone. Just bad attitude and tone.

Yelp
I don´t want to write this review. I love clothes by COS. I would dare say almost half of my wardrobe is by them. BUT... I placed many orders in the last few weeks. About six orders. And out of these 6, 3 have been faulty. Wrong size dress, items missing from my package, and today totally wrong item that I didn´t order. First mistake I considered a human error, happens. The second one frustrated me and I wrote a complaint, but still returned the item and basically thought "these times can be challenging, mistakes happen, let it go". But today, after I had taken a 1.5-hour bike ride from my country house to get the package, opened it and saw what was in it, I wanted to cry. I wrote to customer service saying that I wasn´t going to order from them ever again and that I expect a compensation. Their answer was to ask if I wanted a 20% discount and after I answered that this is insulting to suggest that spending more money at their store would diminish my inconceniences, they sent a coupon anyway. The golden phrase from the customer service: "This definitely is not meeting the extremely high standard we aim to provide". High standards are just formalities, just words on paper if you don´t live up to them. COS, do you think that your clients are unintelligent and gullible people or you just don´t care?

Yelp
I was introduced to COS via good friend. went to the 5th Ave store, loved the clothes. Ordered a beautiful dress online since they didnt have my size in store. It came in record time but the zipper was sewn almost shut save for 3 inches. Cant even try it on to see if it fits. Almost sold out and I need to purchase it again, spend more money, call in for my discount again and wait several weeks for a refund, go all the way into Manhattan from Brooklyn to the Soho Store to return and waist a big chunk of my valuable time since I am a busy straight commission Brooklyn Realtor for a top firm. And I wanted to wear this ASAP. I am an expert seamstress as well who has previously worked on Broadway Shows and film. There is no excuse for this awful quality control. I want this dress but this was not a good first experience. You need to do way better.

John C.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. No sales associates were willing to help or were friendly.

Yelp
Came in and the "were accepting returns or exchanges" that day. Asked when they will be again and they said they didn't know. I work near this store so i'm not going to go to a different location just to make a return. Tried calling the number listed for their store today to see if they are accepting returns now, and it just sends me to their corporate automated voice system and i've been on hold for 30 minutes to talk to someone? I don't even know who. I simply want to find out if they'retaking returns before i walk there again.

Yelp
Do not support this store. As you can see from reviews their customer service and the way they do business is a scam. I wanted to return merchandise and I didn't have the actual receipt in front of me, but had the transactions from my card. I had bought over $800 on a work trip 2 weeks prior with no time to try them on, had planned on bringing them back. I spent 90minutes in the store and was in hold with customer service for 25min on hold until they hung up on me without ever getting to talk to someone. The store manager said to email customer service, but they told me they don't deal with stores and sent me back to the store. Long story short, the store took back my merchandise but never gave me store credit or my money back. Is that legal? Yes the clothes are beautiful at a great price, but all they want is your money and don't care about screwing customers over.

Yelp
Finally, now you can shop at the store rather than going online and trying to figure out if that dress will fit properly. It is an upscale version of H&M, since they are the same company. I am really happy they opened up a brick and mortar here in the U.S. They took over Maje's old space, so it is not that big of a store.

Yelp
I was so happy when finally COS opened a store in NY. Unfortunately, my experience with their NYC location was far from good. Not only they are much more expensive, than in Europe (which I can understand - shipping, rent, taxes, bla bla... but still), but also have a horrible customer service. None of the staff I was trying to talk to knows the inventory, they do not want to help even if you ask them, they are rude. I came there knowing exactly which items I want because I checked the US (!!) website first. Half of the items I was looking for was not in the shop, because "it haven't arrived yet and nobody knows when it will arrive". When I asked a clerk if it's possible to give me a call when a skirt that I want comes in, she said that they are very busy, they "actually have a job here and if I want this skirt I will be calling them myself". Well, maybe they do have a job, but they definitely do not have me as a customer anymore. Besides, many clothes are in bad condition - covered with lipstick, makeup and greasy stains. I'm a COS fan for many years. I lived in Europe before I moved to NY and I've seen many of their stores in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and so on. I feel like the NYC location is an embarrassment for this beautiful brand and spoils the reputation of the company.

Yelp
I love the clothes but the customer service sucks!! I bought a dress from the store in NYC and it had a huge problem. They told me that they are gonna refund me but I have to travel to NYC to the store!!! I live in Rochester and it is 6hrs driving to NYC! I told them I cannot travel for 6hrs for a dress and they said this is the only way we can do it!

Eliezer S.

Yelp
Nice store at a good location. Friendly staff, cool Environment. Would recommend if looking for simple, clean, minimalist style clothing. Something for everyone here.

Dustin S.

Yelp
Unless you Iove being bombarded by daily emails, don't subscribe or buy anything online! I've tried unsubscribing 6 times and I still get emails from them. Their product is subpar quality and not worth the trouble

Yelp
Awful customer service. I bought a bag for my gf for $190, she loved it, knew she was going to keep it and threw away the receipt. a week or two later there was a price adjustment on the bag, and it was now selling for $90. We took the bag to the store, and they let us know that regardless that I had a credit card statement with the exact price of the bag, regardless that its the only store in the city, and regardless that it was only 2 weeks since we purchased, they wouldn't price adjust the bag. We aren't trying to trick the store, we just want our fair price adjustment.

Linda V.

Yelp
What happened? Two seasons in a row. The ugliest collection they have every done. Who will buy that god awful yellow and blue? Didn't they learn from the last collection which lingered on sale all summer? No European or New Yorker would be caught dead in those colors. And the fabrications? Someone should do their research and see what people are actually wearing. So sad. I need this store to be great again!!
google avatar

Lily A.

Yelp
A chic, Alexander Wang-inspired retailer with Zara-like prices. The clothing is minimalist and modern, a refreshing assortment compared to the craziness of most fast fashion retailers. Lots of navy, black, and white solids in interesting cuts and silhouettes. My only issue was the COS changing room situation and staff. There are 3 dressing rooms on the 2nd floor and more on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately a line snaked around the floor and the staff had a hard time managing the crowd and keeping things moving. I recommend checking it out, but try to avoid weekends when Soho is bombarded with tourists and places like COS get slammed.

Zaeem S.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever. I bought a $100 shirt, wore it once, the material was so bad that it was a waste for me. I went to their store and they totally refused to do anything. I left the shirt at the store.

Yin Mei L.

Yelp
The bag I bought torn at the join with the shoulder strap in 3 weeks from the date of purchase with very little pressure put on it

Kat K.

Yelp
Terrible quality merchandise and even worse luck returning it! I ordered on-line, the clothes were delivered by FedEx. To return any, I have to take box to FedEx office. I am disabled and cannot get to FedEx drop-off, but COS would not send me a pre-paid return label and wouldn't pick up the shipment for return. In addition, the clothes are of a very poor quality in both fabrics and workmanship. Enticing photos, but no more ordering for me.

Yelp
Decent clothes for 9-6 office setting, not expensive especially on sale, I bought many shirts from them and they are great. It is not like I always found their clothes are super cool but there are always a few pieces make me like I want this in the past couple seasons. BTW I found the staff at this location and WTC were helpful enough.

Yelp
It has finally opened. I didn't know much about this brand until a show that I was following had some of their clothing featured. This place is clean and neat; the clothings carried are definitely much higher end than their sister brand - H&M. I love the whole concept, except that since its a newer store, there are some room for improvement. Associates in the store are not proactive with the clients, I definitely saw a couple of ladies wanting help and couldn't grab the attentions of the associates. I do love the brand, but the quality of the fabrication of some of the pieces sometimes doesn't really justify the price.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place. Great aesthetic. Incredible pricing. There's so much good stuff I can say about this store. Everything is prim and proper with an edge. You can find your basic essentials here or a great staple piece. I've bought bags, shoes, and clothes from here and the quality is better than topshop and zara. Pros: sales, price, trendy Cons:

Yelp
I really, really liked Cos. I would equate it to a nicer Zara than an upscale H&M. Lots of the clothes here are made out of interesting materials like neoprene and other stretchy fabrics which I liked (comfy!) but the tailoring and lines are still really neat. There are multiple floors, only one for men. I would say that the full price clothes are probably over-priced but when I was there there was a sale where most things were half price which made them affordable. Service was not super solicitious but wasn't terrible. Overall, I really liked it and I can't wait to head back.

Cara M.

Yelp
Great store for non-traditional fashion but customer service does not exist. People at cash registers can't answer questions about stock in other stores because they don't have iPads, they can't find stain wipes although someone else found one right away. This is not the only store where the customer service is bad. Not sure if this is their business model but it is terrible. Thought of asking for a manager but don't think that would have done anything. It is not a store where transactions are under $50. People are spending money here and treated like they are nothing. Then the cashier (not a friendly term to use but that's all they are able to do) asked if I wanted a bag. So straThe Gap has better customer service for a fraction of the prices. Very unfortunate.

Zuri S.

Yelp
Very chic. Not my usual type of store but I did find a lovely shirt upstairs. There clearance rack is well stocked and affordable. The associate who completed my purchase was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful--I will definitely be back.

marnie f.

Yelp
The customer service is the WORST & in addition the clothes especially the tops around the neck are SOILED with MAKEUP. Buyer beware. The staff is not knowledgeable & the sizing is way off here.
google avatar

Erica L.

Yelp
This is for the WTC location. I like this brand and their aesthetics, but I could see why their customer service is lacking. Came for an interview at 8:30am, no one answered the door. I tried calling and knocked on their door. No answer. No one bother to look at the window and maybe they're deaf. I had to wait till I was late for the interview for them to answer their door. The interview end up not happening. A waste of my time. I guess you can't expect more from retail.

Anonymous T.

Yelp
if you order anything online, they will not let you return it to the store. There is absolutely no reason for this rule other than to discourage you to return. customer service = make life more difficult, not worth it.
google avatar

Shahrzad A.

Yelp
Their stuff is nice, however they have terrible customer service. I had the worst experience with their service! NEVER buy anything from them online. I purchased a dress in size 4 from their website, and 3 days later they sent me an email that size 4 is out of stock. A few days later, I saw that the dress was available on their website. I purchased it again, but they sent me a different dress... THIS TIME IN SIZE 12!! Also, I returned 2 items to them and they just refunded me after 2 AND A HALF WEEKS for 1 item. I called them and they told me it would take 48 hours to get me back to see what happened with the second item, and I am not sure if they will even refund my money!!!

Mark N.

Yelp
I love cos clothing, but this location has noticeably higher prices than those in London, Germany, Hong Kong and even Australia.
google avatar

Freya-Loki O.

Yelp
on a busy street in soho area. elevator up & down between floors. good selection but a bit crowd due to narrow space

Laura D.

Yelp
I go to COS all the time and have never had a bad experience until today. Gloria (Spring Street Location) was very rude! Not sure if she was having a bad day but it was totally unacceptable. She didn't want to hold my clothes for me while I kept shopping nor check for a different size on a jacket (she ended up holding the clothes but never checked for sizes). Then when I went in the fitting room -- she didn't want to give me the clothes I asked her to hold (2 items) -- she said I have too much clothes. I asked her what's the max that I can bring in the fitting room? She said 7. I only had 5 and asked her to give me the 2 items she was holding. Weird and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I will not go back to that store!

Yelp
Clean lines and interesting fabrics :) I discovered COS in Hong Kong a few years ago and instantly fell in love. The interesting shapes and cuts make the simple pieces fun to mix and match. I was uber excited when I found out that a location had opened up in SOHO. The store is multiple levels which is great, I only got a chance to peek at the main level and second floor because I was in a rush but great selection and nice sale section as well. I would compare the style as a softer version of Zara. Youthful and Clean :)

Yelp
after months of baited breath, COS has finally landed on this side of the ocean. having only been in one location prior (in antwerp), I do have to say this location seems pretty in line with what the stores look like over yonder. smart move picking a first/flagship (?) american location in soho. easy enough to find store, but the minimalistic COS sign outside was betrayed by the crowd indoors. COS clothing overall is fine; as others have said, it's comparable to zara, jcrew, etc. a whole huge section for sales near the register. I checked out the european e-store after my visit and it seems like the american location is getting a fair share of new merchandise, so no fear getting the short end of the COS stick. the sales associates were all friendly enough but definitely stressed out, frazzled, and a little short. I can only guess it comes from helping out all the people who came for the hype. hope the crowd dies down eventually so coming here is a more relaxing experience.

Jordan J.

Yelp
Celine, & Prada meets affordable fashion. So happy to see COS in the United States! I found great pieces (more than I anticipated). The rails were merchandised to where the product could be easily shopped and sales associates were friendly and willing to help! Happy store, Happy customer :)

Yelp
We love the stuff here. The place looks well organized. The first, second, & third floors are all for women. There is an original well from the 1800's in the basement which is also the men section. The prices were decent. The staff were friendly & polite. This place definitely worth stopping by.

Yelp
I ordered over $500 of clothing from this retailer online. When I returned much of it for different sizes (as the sizing was seemingly arbitrary based on each piece), they kept my clothes and my money. No one ever reached out to say that they had even received my return package... not even an automated email! When I called in, it took me at least 25 minutes to get to a manager. After (3) weeks of back and forth, their sale 'ended' and they were unable to exchange any of my sizes. They acted like I was problematic for requesting my returns. I said to them... ' the clothing WAS available THREE WEEKS AGO when you received my returns!' One associate even said, "i sorry our solution doesn't make you happy." After several hours of me calling in to Cos customer service, they just refunded my money and let me know via email that they weren't sending my clothes. Gee thanks. Not patronizing this store again.

Shari G.

Yelp
I have no idea what is going on in this store. Yes, they have some cool stuff well priced but the sales associates don't seem very familiar with the inventory and were not particularly inclined to assist. I was here on 4/7 and there was almost no warm weather clothing out yet. I was told it was coming soon. My impression after trying on a few things was that they look better on the hanger than on your body. Dresses were large and tent-like with no shape. T-shirts fit well as well as trousers. I think I'll shop on line for this brand.
