"Rings a Bell Italian-born architect, artist, philosopher, and ceramicist Paolo Soleri originally came to Arizona tostudy with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin West. His legacy is seen all over Scottsdale, notably at the Soleri Bridge and Plaza in downtown, which spotlights his signature hand-casted ceramic and bronze wind bells. The bells are still hand-poured at Cosanti, Soleri’s studio and former home, where bells of all shapes and sizes can be bought."

Nice place to check out if you are in the area. Great to see a working studio tucked in the middle of a fully developed residential area. Friendly staff, interesting architecture/studio, if you time it right you can see them pouring into the castings, etc, which I did not see. You can also purchase from the huge selection displayed through the compound. Free parking, no pressure to buy anything.

Google
Nice outdoor art gallery where they create wind chimes on site. They have some spectacular pieces, and all are for sale.

Google
It's a cool experience if you're passing through the area. Spent maybe 25 minutes roaming around. It's quite small. The architecture was very intriguing. There are some good photo op areas. If you person appreciate either art or architecture, I'd give it a go!

Google
This was such an interesting place to visit. I enjoyed scoping out the architecture, and I adored the sound of the bells. I was so fortunate to see bell's being poured the day I visited. It was fascinating to watch. Molten metal was poured into the molds...so exciting. It was a grand adventure.

Returned to view the wind bells after many years away. Large selection of very unique items. We were there to pick up a bell for shipping overseas to family. Found the staff to be very helpful. Clerk knew where each bell was located and went to various locations to show us. We were able to pick the one we liked the best out of the same style bell. Nice shady location. Interesting how they are made. Very nice sound. Looking forward to the response we get when the bell is received. We have the AZ bell and when the wind blows the sound is music to our ears. Our bell was taken over by a Hummingbird who hatched two eggs on it.

Google
Arizona Registry of Historical places. What an extremely interesting place to visit. The concrete domed buildings were cool today while 90 degrees out. Work shop areas are visible for both metal foundry and ceramic kiln. Retail area is full of all types of wind chimes.

Google
A one of a kind space right out of a Star Wars movie. The artisan wind bells are as beautiful as they sound. There is a range of prices. We are super happy with purchase we made.

Google
Lovely design; I’ve always been a super fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and learned this place was designed by a former student. We didn’t have much time but I wish I took a tour. The pieces were so pretty and the sounds they made were mesmerizing.

Yelp
My coworker told me about a place that sold amazing handmade bells and I immediately bookmarked it. This was the studio of Paolo Soleri, a student of FLW and I love how different his ideas and architecture was from the standard FLW clones. The shop is a destination by itself, the concrete structures are organic and feel like they grew from the earth. You'll feel like you are on another planet or in a movie and if you go during a hot day you'll notice how cool these structures keep you. A little past the store you can see the shop area were the bells are casted and made. It's a great behind the scenes area where you can see just how hand-made the bells are. The bell selection is much better here than at Arcosanti so if you see something interesting I would pick it up here and not wait. You can also order online if you don't want to carry them around: https://cosanti.com/

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere that's worth the journey even if you find nothing to take home with you. We loved the structures and the art, and we appreciated the ample, shaded parking. The woman at the counter was welcoming, informative, and wrapped our chime with care and skill. I loved my time here and hope to return on an artist work day when I can see more of the process behind their beautiful art.
google avatar

Annette A.

Yelp
Didn't really know what this was, but it was a free place to go and see some art. I ended up loving this place! Even bought some pieces to bring home.

Yelp
A beautiful drive to Paradise Valley to this cute and historic archeological shop of Paoli Soleri called Costani that still has the remnants of Paoli's works and dwellings. We hopped on the 1 hour tour since we were unable to book online since limited to 15 but noticed they had 11 on tour and probably wouldn't notice an extra 2 . Cody, our guide, walked us through and gave a beautiful explanation of how 2200 degrees of molten bronze is made into bells. They do demonstrations at10:30 am. and was fascinated by their skill of the artisans. The prices were high, I initially thought until I saw the process , dedication, and skill it takes to make their craft. It's worth a view if you have time while in Scottsdale and / or want to take a step back in time.

Yelp
Fantastic bronze gem that will delight locals and visitors of all ages. Great prices on truly exceptional pieces of art. Ringing is encouraged, showcasing the unique sound of each bell. Add to this a terrific staff, happy to help. I have two bells that were recently inherited with no history. The staff helped fill in the blanks with their own excitement. They also instructed me towards adjusting the bells when needed.

Yelp
Came by here to check the place out on a rainy day. It was such a unique establishment, and the bells are beautiful. Everything about this place has a uniquely Arizona flavor - super earthy, organic, hearty, and mystical. We didn't do a tour, but I'm sure that would be a great way to spend your time here if you like history and art! Spent about 40 minutes snooping around, appreciating the different rings of different bells, and guessing the prices of the various pieces

Yelp
Found this hidden gem while searching for something unique to do my last day in Scottsdale. The bells and wind chimes they create are truly amazing works of art. We went on a Sunday so we weren't able to see them pour the bronze or take a guided tour but the visit was well worth it anyways. If you're traveling and find a special piece to purchase it is good to know they ship within the continental US.
google avatar

Yelp
I have visited the Arcosanti Project in the past and wanted to add to my bell collection. This is a perfect place to stop by to check out if you don't have the time and want to see the process. We went in the evening and unfortunately we didn't see anyone working on the bells. I would call ahead to get the schedule if you want to see it. The staff was very helpful and wrapped everything well for travel. Cute gift boxes are also available if you are buying for someone else.
google avatar

Yelp
Unique Arizona find...beautiful architecture and various pieces of bronze and ceramic hand crafted bells, pots and even jewelry.

Yelp
If you've got some time to fill while in Scottsdale this place is worth it. Time your visit to see them filling the bell molds with the liquid bronze live. Great for kids too. Very pretty and artsy thing to do.

Yelp
This past weekend we were part of the Cosanti Tile Workshop. Although the bells and art sold here are amazing, you miss so much if you don't sign up for one of the experience classes they offer. We have taken the Ceramic Bell Workshop in Arcosanti (Amazing!); so the tile class at Cosanti was a natural for us. Cosanti is conveniently located in the center of the Phoenix metroplex (Paradise Valley), and the tiles are easier to work with than the bells for someone like me with absolutely no artistic aptitude or skill. It also helps that C J the instructor has experience working with grammar school children; so she can meet you wherever your abilities take you. She's a rare combination of talented artist and capable teacher. Taylor is the Education Manager and helped out in the class and is responsible for the many hands-on experiences offered at both Cosanti and Arcosanti. He also gave us the best and most comprehensive tour of Cosanti that I've ever had. When you go to Cosanti, come for the bells, but stay for the experiences.

Yelp
Attention All Hippies...Have I got a place for you. Nothing says Arizona like Cosanti Bells. I've been to and purchased many bronze bells for myself and gifts. They are beautifully crafted, sound and look beautiful. The studio/gallery/grounds are so cool. Tours are available and years ago, during a visit, I watched the bells being poured and formed. The staff is great! I want to have them over for drinks. Definitely worth a visit and purchase.

Craig W.

Yelp
It is no longer possible to connect by telephone with either the Cosanti Galley in Paradise Valley or Arcosanti in Mayer. Repeatedly get a "call cannot be completed at this time" message at both locations. I've got an in-stock order pending shipment that I'd like to learn if it will be sent in the near future. UPDATE: email is working.
google avatar

Howard H.

Yelp
Very interesting working-art studio. The architecture is organic and interesting and the artists enjoy sharing their activities. Highly recommended. No entrance fee, reasonable charge for tours and beautiful art in the store.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
Wanted to do something different and quirky, so checked this out. It's essentially an art gallery and shop of Cosanti bells. There are a couple plaques about their history, plus they're available for sale, with prices ranging from $50-$750,000! You get to touch the bells and hear the different sounds they make, which is cute. I didn't find anything that I had to have (or else, I would've bought the 700K chandelier one, believe you me!), but it was cool to peruse. It's something to do for 20-30 minutes, because on top of that, you can go see where they are made by their production team, but it's not something that would take much longer than that. If you like bells, check it out.

Yelp
Always a favorite to visit when I am in Phoenix, and if you have a chance, take the drive to Arcosanti also. Excellent customer service. They will pack and ship if you need that service.

Yelp
I've wanted to visit Cosanti for a while, so when a friend told me that she wanted to see the bells being made we scheduled the trip! We signed up to take the tour which really added to the experience. We learned about Soleri, the making of Cosanti, and even saw them make the bells. It's a place that I will be taking some friends and family when they come to visit. Note to mention stop by to pick up some bells or jewelry for gifts in the coming months.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
I love love love this place! Planters, tiles, jewelry inspired by Soleri's sculptures, and beautiful natural wind-bells. (Each set is unique) I enjoy picking up gifts from here. Such a great place to go as a tourist. My last purchase here was a wind-bell and some tiles for a friend in Canada. We had family in town from Alaska and they wanted to stop here for a unique gift for their neighbors as thr enjoyed what we had purchased for them in the past. I have also taken my auntie here after touring a local garden in the area. So unique and beautiful architecture. Up for an adventure? You can even call and a schedule a tour of their working studio!

Yelp
AZ is home to an abundance of well known and talented artists, but none have had as much of a profound impact on art history as Paolo Soleri has. The Cosanti compound allows the viewer to receive a glimpse into how Soleri created his iconic multi colored bronze bells. His protégés continue to create at his compound, where he also resided. The gift store sells bells, bowls, and wind chimes, all which make a great gift for someone.

Pinks A.

Yelp
Beautiful Arizona Artwork! The chimes are more calming than others sold in nurseries, furniture stores, or tourist shops.

Rick G.

Yelp
I had the rare opportunity to visit here yesterday at the very moment they were pouring the bronze. As an owner of a bronze foundry, I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship and attention to detail that the Cosanti artisans embody. The setting was almost surreal. It's so refreshing to see that an "old world" craft is not just being kept alive but thriving.

Yelp
Yay! So happy to stop in here to buy my favorite Arizona gift for East Coast friends. Love the "new" (as in January 2020) design: rain chains created w/ a combo of colored glass & geodes with bell hanging at the bottom. CV-19 Safety Protocols: masks required inside shop. Social distancing enforced but very easy b/c of wide open space & few people there. I highly recommend this as a fun field trip, tucked away in a neighborhood, especially if you can't make it to Arcosanti
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Cosanti would be perfect place to get Gifts/souvenirs unique from Arizona. They have unique bells prices ranging from $50 to $6000. The bell I picked up today is on one end of the price range. Guess which end. I want to return to purchase some more as gifts during holidays or special occasions. We really enjoyed wandering around listening to different sounds each bell made. Enjoy!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
I visited Cosanti Originals during my last trip to the area and loved it so much that I planned to return in December. Unfortunately the day that I scheduled a visit they were closed. Don't make that mistake because you will miss out on a truly enjoyable afternoon. I loved the bells the most....The designs and the sounds. It's fun to pick out one to bring home. In addition to the bells they have jewelry and pottery. Everything is priced reasonable for the quality that you receive. You have the option of making purchases online.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Amazing place, full of creative assortment of bells and glass. I really didn't know what to expect but this is something you should take your time and enjoy! I recommend bringing people from the valley and out of state here. Unique experience and various priced items everyone can afford!
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
I visited Cosanti about 20 years ago so was surprised to see how much the area had developed around it in that time. The art-studio and foundry seemed unchanged. We missed the tour but was a treat for us to get there in time to watch the bells get poured Tuesday morning with the artists listening to the Traveling Wilburys during. Fun and nostalgic for many reasons.
google avatar

Alexandria S.

Yelp
So pretty and the bells are beautiful! You can watch them pour the molten copper and the buildings are amazing to walk through!
google avatar

Ngozi O.

Yelp
Tour itself was cool- the guide was super passionate, I wish we had more time to roam.. I felt like we didn't have much time to take in our surroundings due to the constant talking . Note that this tour is loads of walking so prepare with comfy shoes and breathable clothes. Nonetheless time well spent.

Yelp
How did I not hear more hype about this place before visiting Scottsdale?? I saw one passing comment about it on a blog post and somehow miraculously still decided to go. Wow is it amazing. The bells were beautiful and truly each a unique work of art, but they wouldn't be quite as striking if it weren't for the environment. The grounds are other worldly and intriguing. Because I didn't know what I was getting into when I visited, I went at a time when there weren't any tours. I would love to return and learn more on a tour someday. We were able to meet one of the artisans who had actually made our bell and it made it such a special experience for us! I will always feel such joy and fondness whenever I look at the bell we got because of the lovely time I had here. Please visit and support these wonderful people.

Debi A.

Yelp
Cosanti Originals is a must see if visiting Scottsdale. The studio and building structure is amazing and the bells are works of art. Highly recommend!

Juliane K.

Yelp
What a unique experience! The buildings and landscape were just beautiful, like nothing we have ever seen before. However, we went on the tour, and I truly believe that the tour guide needs to be trained. She was far too long-winded, wasn't reading the group, and drag things on for quite a long time. Members of the tour group, not with us, we're also rolling their eyes and complaining. I enjoyed the information, but truly think she needs to be well trained. We went on several tours during our visit to Arizona, and unfortunately this was by far the worst. The artisans however are remarkable, we bought a beautiful bell that we will always treasure, and I'm glad we had the experience.
google avatar

Jill E.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We were in Arizona and a friend said, try this place. So many lovely pieces of art, and yes the bells are art, hanging where you can see and touch. Each one is unique and they have tours if you're interested. There is a spot where one can also watch them work and create these amazing chimes. Bought one for my daughter in law for her birthday and was so excited since she's difficult to buy for. Well worth the stop.
google avatar

Channon H.

Yelp
It's a unique place and kind of a cool place to check out. I didn't find anything that I had to have. I went thinking I'd get a bell because I like wind chimes, but I just didn't really care for any of them.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
This place is incredible! Unfortunately we got there an hour after they did their daily pouring. I was told they do not have a set schedule for the pouring, but I would recommend calling when they open and I imagine they can give you an idea at that time for the day so you can watch the artisans work. While it was incredibly hot the day we went, it really wasn't so bad as the structures they have built into the landscape seem to do a good job with the temperatures. There isn't much to see if the pourings are not happening, so you do not need much time here; I would guess that we spent no more than 30 minutes here, but I do recommend checking it out. We bought a large chime and were pleased that not only did they ship it home for us, but the shipping was much cheaper than we anticipated. And the woman helping us was very nice and helpful.

Bob Y.

Yelp
This is a great place to purchase a different type of gift. Very nice collection of wind chimes. Unfortunately, they have increased prices quit a bit.
google avatar

Brandi N.

Yelp
This place is truly a little gem hidden in the middle of a neighborhood. My neighbor suggested we go. The property in itself is a little treasure with cute bells of all sizes, shapes and designs with unique and individual tones. I couldn't help but buy, at least a starter one. I foresee myself making several more trips here. Now, walking around my neighborhood, i notice all of the bells from this particular foundry, it makes my heart sing!
google avatar

Yelp
Having lived in the Valley of the Sun for almost 40 years, we've visited Cosanti and Arcosanti enough times to think that one more time would be too much, but it's not. Today, we returned just to visit the on site gift shop in order to purchase a bell (similar to the one we purchased for ourselves 30-plus years ago.) This one is a gift for our son for his first home. it's a perfect gift for a "native" Arizonan as it is for someone new to the Valley or someone just visiting. We lingered on the property long enough to watch them pour the bronze into the casts (again.) It never gets old. It is Arizona. (A trip to Arcosanti is recommended to residents who haven't been there and tourists alike. It is VERY interesting to learn about the philosophy behind the art.)
google avatar

Keo N.

Yelp
Soleri was a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright. Trained at Taliesin he continued the tradition of organic architecture here at Cosancti. Distinctive and unique this place ends up looking like a Klingon village from Star Trek. It's quite possible Star Trek designers may have borrowed the design idiom from Soleri. Lol. At any rate, I loved the uniqueness of this place with its gutsy skeletal and bony elements of the pendulous bells and the skylight in the gift store. A definite landmark and a place of pilgrimage for architectural groupies.

Dawn J.

Yelp
What a gorgeous morning for a tour AND a beautiful and interesting place. Take your time, listen, and look. Kelly was an awesome guide and very informative. She took her time and let look and take pictures. We'll definitely be taking visitors with us again.

Brian S.

Yelp
My aunt took us here & it was interesting to look at all of the bells. What was een more interesting is that you got to see a bit of the factory & how the bells are formed with their impression process. The grounds themselves have such old world archetecture. Their stuff is pricy, but they definitely put a lot of emphasis on quality. Everyone there is very friendly & will answer any questions. Keep up the good work guys.
google avatar

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Go on "pouring day"!!! The foundry in the back of the complex pours bells, pots and tiles on site. Call ahead for pouring times. Too bad the old boy (Palo Soleri) died 5 yrs ago. Heard him speak 45 yrs ago at Univ of Florida... Very committed & inspiring. If you have the time; check out "Arcosanti" about 1 hr north of town, off of I-17 at Cortez Junction... his city of the future.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband gifted a beautiful wind chime for my birthday. After hearing his description of the gallery I had to see it for myself. The chimes are beguiling. I could picture many in and around my home. Of course my eye was drawn to the chimes in the thousands. If you are visiting Phoenix and want to take home a memory this is the place to go.

Susan M.

Yelp
I signed up for the 10:45am tour today and was delighted by my experience. There is easy parking in their lot for starters. I was warmly greeted by 3 people upon entry and Tony found my reservation right away. He ended up being our knowledgeable tour guide as well. A one hour fascinating tour of a local treasure. We even got to see a bronze pour! Beautiful items for sale.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
A must see if you appreciate art. Beautiful breathtaking uniqueness is all in the architect here. Also pretty ceramics and chimes to buy. Wish it was more bigger and let us explore more of it a lot was blocked off reserved for employees.
google avatar

Yelp
Cosanti is a designated Arizona historic site, designed by world-renowned architectural innovator Paolo Soleri, featuring terraced landscaping with experimental earth-formed concrete structures. Hear the tones of bronze and ceramic wind-bells strikingly suspended amidst courtyards and visitor paths. There were workshops in progress as we strolled among the "forest" of peaceful bells. The smooth architecture all around us felt very soothing and calming. Inside the store, there are more bronze and ceramic bells also available for purchase. I thought prices were very fair, starting at $30 for a small bronze hanging bell. I don't need to add a bell or a chime to my current collection but l will certainly consider buying from Cosanti in the future and l highly recommend this visit to learn more about the Soleri architectural concept and numerous creations including massive bridges that he built around the world.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit Acrosanti, but it about 2 hours away and I haven't had the opportunity to go yet. However, I recently found out about a much closer Cosanti, a gallery and studio by the same founder of Acrosanti. The structures are very interesting and fun to wonder through. Soleri bells are hanging everywhere and they are all for sale. The bells range in price from $45 to $300ish. Workers are creating bells on the same property and you can watch them pour the liquid bronze into the molds. The hot liquid bronze emits heat so I was sweating standing there watching. I can only imagine how hot the guys pouring the bronze must have been. I would suggest visiting in the cooler months if you want to walk around and explore. Otherwise, there is an air-conditioned shop to purchase bells.

Yelp
We visited Arcosanti (5 stars! So fascinating) and then had to check out Cosanti. It did not disappoint! We only had 30-40 mins, which was enough time to explore the compound and buy a bell (I was surprised that I couldn't resist the bell. I'm not into them, but they are such a great souvenir. I took home a metal one with chain/tax/etc. for just under $100.) The staff was really nice and surprisingly tolerant of my six-year-old (and me!) climbing around and exploring this working place. Really quite a unique place and story. If you are in Phoenix, it would be a shame to miss this world-famous creative spot.
google avatar

Arzoo H.

Yelp
Neat place. Wasn't really wheelchair accessible at all. It was free so I can't really complain. It was neat to see them pour the brass into molds

Yelp
It has been several years since we visited Paolo Soleri's final home here in Phoenix area. I am enamoured with my Cosanti Bells. I have a stash that I carefully selected for tone and style, but currently... shamefully... set aside, waiting to be put in my back yard for the day it finally gets landscaped. Still not done, I think of all that music I have missed. I really must get them hung. This place has a very peaceful, almost spiritual presence and is a place to put on your must-see list when in Phoenix. Odd architecture, shaded paths, hidden sculptures. You will appreciate watching artisans making the bells, and who can resist reaching out and making them chime in passing? Many sizes, there are lots for sale, but you can visit for free. It is a magical spot. Honor his creative genius and visit.
