13 Things to Do With Kids in Barcelona | Condé Nast Traveler

"CosmoCaixa is a grand, attention-grabbing science museum with five floors of exploration. The star attraction is the Flooded Forest, an epic recreation of the Amazonian ecosystem. The tree roots are vast and tangling, and—warning—the museum did not scrimp on poisonous tree frogs, crocodiles, or piranhas. There’s also a ton of interactive material for kids: robots they can control, animals they can touch (not the piranhas, to be sure), a hall of mirrors, a 3D planetarium, and more." - Gemma Askham

Wow, what an amazing place, for the whole family (adults and kids will both enjoy this equally). The science experiments and exhibitions are so well thought out and explained... And so much fun! The sunken forest is one of the best displays I've ever seen in any museum. One thing to be aware of is that while there are 5 floors, the main floor is by far the biggest, the other 4 floors are more like classrooms or exhibition spaces (and the excellent planetarium) so don't feel you have to rush through the main floor because there are four more the same. Take your time on the main floor. The restaurant is fair quality, but you will pay a little more than similar quality offsite restaurants (however, I think this is to be expected). You can take a lunch break at this cafe/restaurant and re-enter the museum without a problem. We loved every second of our trip.

Just amazing. Both for me and my 3yo kid. A lot of activities you could be part of, control, create, move, hit, watch. It’s realle full day activity and day will be not enough. Special love for forest. It feels like you're in another reality after all of those scientific experiments on the main hall. This place is must to be visited especially if you have kids.

Great kid-friendly museum with loads of experiments, large aquariums with different fish and also partly natural-history oriented with fossils and the like. The kids spent the most time on the bottom floor trying the different experiments. We ate in the cafeteria which had plenty of options and was affordable. The buffet restaurant also seemed good but did not open until 1 PM. Would have appreciated some better information regarding what parts of the museum were not included in the entry, and what those contained.

Very interactive with a well done balance between learning/information, rainforest and activities. Suitable to all ages and group sizes, kept us entertained for few hours so well worth the tickets. Wasn't as expensive as zoo but much more enjoyable.

BEST MUSEUM EVER! So many fun and interactive games (intended for children but what the hell - we are all someone’s child). The -5 floor is where all the fun is at. Very very good experience, was worth the enterance fee and some more. Do get tickets in advance, if you encounter family queues you’ll wait for decades.

The best museum in Barcelona ; We spent two and a half hours here and would definitely stay more if we weren't tired. It is definitely more far away from the centre of the city but I can guarantee that you will not regret your visit here. The museum has many floors with different exhibitions that explore topics such as space, the natural environment and the story of evolution. It was very fun getting to interact with the displays and we could spend hours exploring all the scientific experiments. Our favorite part was definitely the rainforest simulation, that was so interesting and unique. Finally, don't forget to visit the gift shop as you will find science-themed souvenirs such as books, plushies, stationery and toys that you won't be able to find in any other museums in Barcelona. (Note: Don't try to enter from spinning glass doors that are exits and not entrances - you will get stuck.)

CosmoCaixa – Science, Stars, and So Much Fun 🌌🧪 We visited CosmoCaixa during Museum Night, and wow — what an experience. This place is not just for kids or families (though it is amazing for them too) it is for anyone who still has a little curiosity left in them, anyone who still looks up and says “whoa” when they see the stars. Everything was set up to make you feel welcome, inspired, and involved, from interactive exhibits to immersive installations that made us stop and stay longer than we expected. And do not even get me started on the rainforest room... magical. It is rare to find a museum that hits the sweet spot between fun and thought-provoking, playful and educational, but CosmoCaixa pulls it off with ease. Please never change, we will keep coming back again and again. And if you have not been yet: do yourself a favour and go. Science has never looked this cool😄🧬🔭

Yelp
This place is fantastic for kids and adults incredibly interactive. Highly recommend to visit. The only downfall is it is ala carte but the basic admission is plenty for toddlers. Its nice and cool inside. I will warn you the walk from the nearest 2 train stations looks close but it is a serious incline up a hill. I'd suggest a taxi if you have difficulty with inclines. We were pushing 2 strollers and it was a good workout.

Yelp
This is a kids science museum. You can sign up for activities a few days in advance by buying the tickets. They have an astronaut workshop and clik playroom which I highly recommend. The flooded rain forest is cool and so are all the exhibits which are designed beautifully and have wonderful interactive features. The cafeteria has kid friendly food and drinks.

Yelp
Magnificent and Beautiful and Educational! My husband & I took our 3.5 year old son there August 2015. We LOVED it! A marvel! - It was a science museum, touch museum, architectural wonder, art museum, and even a mini aquarium/zoo combined into one. Magnificent views of the coast. The architecture and set up of the entire museum simply relaxing, elegant, well thought out and beautiful. We spent about 3 hours which was enough time to enjoy most of it, but we and our son could have spent the entire day there! Definitely one of the highlights of our Barcelona trip. Pros: Architecturally and artistically beautiful The rain forest was breathtaking We tried the Cost - so reasonable Admission only 4 euros pp and our son was free :) The touch touch (toca toca) show was perfect for my 3 year old (cost 5 euros/adult). He touched creatures he normally wouldn't have! Chevy our instructor/guide was a gifted teacher and facilitator...thanks Chevy! Cons: None! Highly highly recommended!!

Yelp
This museum is an interesting mix between a science museum, a natural history or geology museum and even a zoo. The tropical rainforrest with living animals within the museum is fun for kids and adults. The arrangement of numerous scientific experiments seems to be orderless, but in this way there is a lot to explore and to discover. You can easily spend several hours in this museum without getting bored.

Yelp
Amazing museum! Great experience for adults and kids. We took our 1 year old daughter and even she enjoyed it. They have fascinating exhibits with countless hands-on, interactive activities. The amazon rainforest is like a mini-zoo. I highly recommend a stop at CosmoCaixa. Prices are very reasonable too.

Yelp
Great Museum, especially with kids, but interesting for the adults as well. The building is great after it's renovation with a large spiral ramp down the center of the 5 stories. Starting at the bottom, there is an enormous 2/3 story open area with exhibits, many of them taking advantage of the tall ceilings (like the pendulum slowly shifting and knocking down bars showing time). Interestingly, they also have an exhibition called toca toca, where children (and adults) can see and touch animals. It was not expected in a science museum, but well done and fit with the living tropical forrest on display. Our half day was not enough so we will be back as soon as possible.

Yelp
One of the BEST science museums I've ever been to for hands on learning. Honestly, we wouldn't have thought to go if it wasn't for the fact that we were with kids in Barcelona. There are just so many things to see and do in Barcelona, but I am SO glad that we did. The location is a bit out of the way. But it's well worth it. Here are some highlights--- The architecture was beautiful! Needed to escape from the heat with children. The buffet lunch was just fabulous! All the exhibits have great English translation. Small, but very cool rainforest section with animals.

Yelp
Near Tibidabao is the Cosmocaixa, which is well worth a visit. It has a rainforest within it showing its animals and its habitat. Excellent science displays - a mixture between the natural history museum and the science museum in London

Yelp
A real gem of a eco/science museum. This was a nice surprise after spending a week visiting sites on the usual tourist itinerary in Barcelona. Both of my kids loved the hands-on exhibits in the expansive space and peaceful setting (it was relatively quiet, perhaps due to the holiday season). The rainforest and aquatic exhibits were impressive. To top it off, admission was free for kids up to 16 and so it was the least expensive visit of the week for our family of 4.
