On the Grid : Cosmos Books

"In a city where English bookstores are on the decline, Cosmos is a bit of a godsend. The large shop on Johnston Road has been here for almost four decades, and has a little bit of everything on its shelves, but it is perhaps most noteworthy for a decent selection of Hong Kong books." - Isabel Foo

It is quiet and underground of a very bustling area. Sufficient air conditioning. 50 meter from it is Five Guys, close to Wan Chai station.

The English section is small but there are the usual classics plus best sellers like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and a lot of Agatha Christie.

Great offer of books and stationary and a fantastic resource for students, homeschooling parents or in general anyone who loves books. Will visit again. Getting there with the Ding-ding (the world's only double dekker trams that is one of HK's intangible heritages) makes it even more special. Thank you.

A lovely hidden gem. It was our first time visiting Cosmos Books, despite living in Wan Chai. The basement is bright and the selection of children's book is large. I love it that they have board games from SmartIQ, a wide selection of puzzles and paint arts. The variety of Chinese children's books is interesting. They have educational books that I haven't seen in other bookstores before. The adult English section is quite limited though. We will for sure visit more often, it is a great place to find gifts too.

I came because the website displayed they have a specific Singapore math book. Not only they didn't have it, but the staff is quite rude and unhelpful at all.

There is a good selection of English fiction, non fiction as well as academic and technical books on the upper level. It’s the kind of bookstore that was common twenty years ago. There’s a decent size stationery section as well as cards and gifts. Worth a browse.

The store has significantly downsized but still retains a unique 'vibe'. The English language section is now -- mostly -- limited to text books, study aids, classic literature, self-help guides. In addition to books there have a comprehensive stationery section. It's a pleasant place to visit even when I don't find what I am seeking!
