Had a great meal and had a few beers with our guides. Pizza was delicious and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. The staff was amazing and very accommodating when some of our group were running late. Will certainly be back on our next visit. Awesome!

Facilities need maintenance. Roof leaks, pillows are lumpy, mattresses are bad. Poor breakfast and food is bad (raw hash browns, raw pancakes, over salted eggs and etc.). Beach is dirty as there is no one to clean it. Unfriendly staff.

Incredibly friendly and made our vacation. One of the owners Ilana was so nice to us. XTC and Flying Cloud which is a scam and where we had our bookings had not said they were closed down for business and stolen our money. ||Luckily Ilana was quick to help us. Beside offering us accomodation she was so nice and kind to us. She handled everything we needed during our stay and even drove us to the next town when we had to leave.||Ilana really saved us on the worst day of our vacation.

We spent a couple of great days at Costa de Cocos. The cabañas are simple, but seem to have been recently updated and had everything we needed. The staff was wonderful: friendly, funny, and obviously interested in making sure we were happy. The food was really good, and so nice just to roll out of bed and have a delicious breakfast made to order. We were not in Xcalak to fish, but to hang around, enjoying the quiet and beautiful place. Cocos is a perfect spot for that.

November 2023 we were guests at the Costa de Cocos resort in Xcalak. Upon arrival, after a long hesitation, we were welcomed by the manager, who initially just left us waiting. He assigned us a worn out, not cleaned cottage. Direct next to the house were ruins of other houses. After having complaind to the owner, we were assigned a better accommodation. The resort clearly suffered from the Covidperiod. During our stay of several days, we were impressed by the laziness of the manager, who was virtually invisible and almost did not get up from his couch inside the restaurant. Fortunately, much was made up for by the restaurant bartender/waiter …. He shows everything what makes him to become a good successor to the current manager.|Ultimately, he ensured that we look back on our stay at Cosa de Cocos with a good feeling. Joost and Marion

Do not be fooled by their website. This might have been a nice place 15 years ago, but is now in serious disrepair. When the wind came up at night we tried to close the storm shutters and they fell off in my hands. By morning the entire room was covered in sand, including the bed. No hot water in the bathroom. There is no craft beer or spirits as advertised, and the menu is completely different than the one online. Incredibly overpriced for what is offered. We had planned to be there for a week, but fled after 1 night. Talked to 2 other couple that week that had done the same thing. Can't recommend anything about this place.

Xcalak is a quiet fishing village away from the touristy areas. I enjoyed my stay here the most opposed to other places in Mexico. Costa de Cocos has a great restaurant and very nice and comfortable places to stay for a reasonable price. The one thing I didn't like was that the water to shower is salty and not so clean. If you want to clean diving equipment I recommend doing this at the nearby dive center, where you'll probably do your diving as well. The reason I am giving five stars is also because of the amazing and kind staff. People say that all the time about a lot of places and I feel they are often not able to distinguish between people seeming friendly because they want to cash in their tips or people who genuinely appreciate you. The staff of Costa de Cocos definitely made a good impression on me as did most people in Xcalak. Really a little paradise to be in and very suited for diving and fly fishing.

We didn’t stay at the hotel (although may in a future trip, it looked nice), but we did a guided fly fishing trip with Reuben and he was fantastic. He definitely knows the water and can spot the fish. He’s a great guide. We caught four tarpons and many bonefish. You can tell he cares about catching fish and was as happy as we were to get them. Thanks Reuben!
