"Arriving on Mexico’s East Cape sometime this spring, the newest outpost from the famed, rarefied Aman brand introduces a new level of restrained luxury to Baja California Sur. With only 18 keys at Costa Palmas, the architecture by Elastic Architects all but disappears into the terrain of sand, stone, and sea. Expect destination-defining dining, an ultra-tranquil Aman Spa inspired by regional traditions, and access to pristine beaches, marine life, and even a Robert Trent Jones II–designed golf course." - Liam Hess, Anna Grace Lee, Nick Remsen
"“Tucked within the 1,500-acre Costa Palmas community—with organic orchards, three miles of swimmable beach, and a yacht-friendly marina—Amanvari brings Aman’s signature ultra-luxe serenity to Baja’s East Cape. With just 18 keys and an exclusive collection of branded residences, the hotel follow’s its brand’s dedication to merging nature with architecture. Resting at the meeting point of beach, desert and a river estuary, the resort is thoughtfully positioned to celebrate a landscape which so many other resorts in this area just build on top of. Elevated casitas blur the line between indoors and out, capturing expansive views of the Sea of Cortéz and the Sierra de la Laguna. As with any Aman, you can expect intentional design, dining venues that range from Italian to Japanese, and an Aman Spa steeped in the brand’s longevity-focused approach, as well as a contemporary interpretation of a Mesoamerican temazcal sweat lodge and an awe-inspiring open-air yoga pavilion.”" - Todd Plummer
"A luxury resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, with a spa and multiple dining venues overlooking the Sea of Cortés."
"Set to open in 2020 on the East Cape of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula about 45 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport within the Costa Palmas development, this boutique Aman resort and private-residence collection sits on the shores of the Sea of Cortez with views of the Sierra de la Laguna. Designed by Heah & Co with a “habitat as art” aesthetic and a low-impact approach, the property will feature 20 contemporary bilevel pavilions—each perched on stilts with bedrooms, living spaces, wrap-around decks and cantilevered private pools above, and indoor/outdoor ground-floor lounges with hammocks and fire pits that meld into surrounding estuaries and sand dunes. On-site amenities include three food-and-beverage outlets, a hot tub–ringed infinity pool, a breezy library and a spa pavilion, while the broader Costa Palmas master plan adds a marina, golf course, organic farms and nearly two miles of swimmable white-sand beach. Programming will emphasize the wild, remote setting and local culture, offering visits to ranches, tours with resident biologists, fishing expeditions and the chance to dive with migrating whales, all delivered with tailored service and a premium on privacy. The resort’s name is derived from Sanskrit words meaning “peace” and “water.”" - Sandra Ramani
