December 25th - 2025 I give 3 stars Pros: ——— - free coffee and tea - accept debt/ credit / Apple Pay Cons: ———- - The Dorm room (6 beds) was small and smells mold.(not good air circulation) - NO HOT WATER IN THE DORMS BUILDING. You have to shower in the other building across the street - the above head electric power in the bed cabinet does not work properly, I couldn’t charge my phone overnight!

I was a little skeptical because of the affordable price, but I have definitely spent more in San Jose for less impressive accommodations. Firstly, the housekeeping staff keep this place spotless!! Everything is so clean! The staff is very nice and the location is supreme. Just a minute or 2 walk to La California bar district and lots of great restaurants. 15 minute walk to downtown. You also get access to the amenities at CR backpackers inn next door; pool, bar, restaurant. There are lots of shared bathrooms so you don't have to wait. They are big private bathrooms with nice hot water. The internet is strong and there is workspace available. Coffee is also free and available. The beds are extra comfy and the full size bed sleeps more like a queen. Definitely the best value I have found in my many trips to San Jose. Will stay again!

This and the backpackers are one of the same. We just did one night and I’d recommend. Good kitchen and pool and warm shower!!!! It’s about a 20 min walk to the trapoca bus stop and a 35 min walk to the mepe stop. Area was one of the safer ones and you’re only one block off the main road. San Jose isn’t super great but if I was to come back I’d stay here again!

The worst hotel i have ever been to. Dirty smelly room, swet smell on pillows and bed in general. The shower water you either get burning hot or cold. The towels they gave me were for garbage. I regent I didn't take pictures to show. ||The local people from desk are not that kind .. only Constanz from Argentina. ||The last day me staying there I shower with cold water...no hot water.

A surprisingly excellent hostel considering the price. MASSIVE private rooms, with a decent kitchen and bar across the street. Much easier to get free parking here than I anticipated.

Great hostel with clean shared spaces. The rooms are quite spacious and have a fan. The location is quite good - seems a very safe area!

I had my own room, the king sized bed room, and it was just perfect. Very clean. Some noise but that is to be expected in the area. Situated near the great neighborhood of Escalante which has a lot of cool spots and is nice to walk around.

Twin guesthouse on opposite side of the street. The restaurant is slow, one hour for the food. The rooms are very different standard. Cozy backpack atmosphere.
