We have stayed many times at the RV park and it is our favorite! Everything is well kept and beautiful. We love the Pine Tent, especially with live bands. We also enjoy the loop hiking trail just inland from the main area. We went for the first time a few months ago since the new owners took over. We were devastated to see the garden had to be removed. We really really hope a new one is put in. We love that the goats are still there but hope the horses can come back. We worked with Trish on check in and she was great!

This is our third stay at Costanoa, and once again, it is a wonderful experience. We arrived late at 10 PM with tired kids, and Oscar and Roman were incredibly kind and thoughtful. They helped us find our cabin and made sure we were settled in comfortably, which meant so much after traveling with young children. We absolutely love everything this beautiful place has to offer—from the peaceful surroundings to the consistently excellent service. Costanoa continues to be a favorite getaway for our family, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

I’ve never been to this place before, and the drive-up entrance is absolutely stunning! I arrived when it was dark, so I was a bit lost. But then I met this really friendly guy named Oscar who helped me and my wife find our spot. The bathrooms were spotless, and the park was super quiet and peaceful. It was a great experience!

A serene coastal escape with adventure at every turn! From the moment we arrived at Costanoa, nestled between the rugged coast and rolling hills, we were absolutely enchanted. Our glamping tent bungalow offered cozy comfort—warm blankets, plush bedding, and a private fire pit—yet felt wonderfully connected to nature. The on‑site Cascade Restaurant and Pine Tent bar delivered delightful, farm‑to‑table cuisine and cocktails by the fire under the stars. It’s clear they pride themselves on fresh, local ingredients and excellent service Top marks for having clean, spacious accommodations (cabins, tents, lodge rooms all felt well‑appointed), friendly staff, and thoughtful amenities like a hot tub, sauna, general store, and free parking.

We stayed at Costanoa in Pescadero for two nights with another family in a double lodge cabin, and unfortunately, we were disappointed with our stay—especially given the price. The property was not well maintained. There was trash on the ground, and all the garbage cans were overflowing, which made the place feel neglected. The shared showers were also unclean, with used band-aids stuck to the walls and dirty cloths hanging inside. It felt like the staff were playing catch-up the entire time—maybe there had been a big event before we arrived—but it didn’t feel ready for guests. There was also a general lack of management or staff presence. It felt like no one was really overseeing the grounds. Guests were abusing the shared lawn games and the dog area, stealing firewood from common spaces. The whole atmosphere was a bit “each person for themselves.” On our first day, our friend tripped on uneven pavement near the main area and severely sprained her ankle. A maintenance or landscaping employee saw it happen and kindly asked if we needed medical help. He even said he’d bring a small basket or gesture from Costanoa as an apology, but nothing ever came, and no one followed up. For the price, I really wouldn’t recommend staying here during the week. There were no kids’ activities available, and even the general store was frustrating to navigate because it was mostly blocked off by pallets and boxes being restocked. The location itself is beautiful, but the combination of poor cleanliness, lack of hospitality, and no family-friendly offerings made our stay feel like a missed opportunity. We wouldn’t return unless there were significant improvements.

My boyfriend and I stayed at one of the single cabins and it was a lovely stay. Shout out to Bruno for giving great service late at night really saved our trip! My only issue with the stay was that the hot tube was out service and was really looking forward to using that amenity. Also the girls in the gift shop were super sweet and helpful!

Google
Beautiful location, and a choice of accommodations: you can bring an RV, camp, or book their rooms in the lodge. A short gorgeous walk from Franklin Point Overlook, and near a bunch of nice beaches. Weather is chilly, even in the summer. Good restaurant, with an excellent steak.

Trish greeted us with kind energy and was exceptionally helpful in helping us find the perfect spot! Every employee was engaging, helpful and happy! There were fun events and the people running the events were great at getting everyone “into it”. Beautiful clean grounds. Already booked our next trip!

Yelp
Stayed here a couple times - once at the KOA camping site, where unfortunately what sounded like a bunch of frat boys in the tents near us decided to have a raucous party well into the night in spite of quiet hours, which made for pretty poor sleep. Another time, we came as a large school group - kids had a great time biking around the whole site. The availability of different sleeping options made this great for folks with a range of budgets, camping comfort levels, and physical needs. We've also eaten at the restaurant several times. All in all, Costanoa feels expensive for the quality - for example, the bungalows were dingier and less comfortable than other glamping spots we've been at (for example, Wildhaven), the food pricier than it is good, and the service is uneven - nothing terrible but nothing great, a 3/5 experience based solely on its merits and not a great value for the price. However, it's close by and offers a range of camping options, which means we will be back. If I were looking for a premium glamping experience for the price, I would go elsewhere. However, if you're arranging a group camp out and you want to stay local, this is a good "compromise" spot for groups with varied physical and economic constraints / desires in a campsite.

Yelp
I grew up coming here with my family. I think that it has definitely seen better days. The cabin that we stayed in was cute but definitely dingy. Our bedding looked worse for where and the carpet in the cabin wasn't that clean. We ended up needing to clean the bathroom ourselves because it didn't look like they had done a thorough job. With that sad it's a beautiful property and it was nice to be able to walk to the beach or walk around the property and really be immersed in nature. We ate at the restaurant, but the restaurant was really bizarre. It seemed like it was a mix of people staying at Costanoa and then locals there to watch sports at the bar. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The staff are mostly kind, but the woman at the front desk was incredibly rude to me after I forgot my toiletry bag in the room and needed to come back and pick it up and she did not make it easy. I don't think that I'll be going back as it's very pricey and really not that luxurious.

Yelp
It pains me to write this, I love Costanoa but we had a serious issue there and the lack of attention to it is why I give them one star. We made a campfire in one of their concrete block fire pits in the camper area. We were standing around the fire, after the fire was burning for about four hours and something deep in the sand exploded causing hot embers to fall on my friend and my boyfriend. There were burn marks every where. One of the chairs was destroyed, my friend had a serious second degree burn about 3 inches wide that blistered and the next day it peeled off leaving a nasty wound. My boyfriend had a minor burn on his foot, and it put a damper on the evening. In the morning we told four different people all who said they would report it to management, no one did. A maintenance person came and took the burned up chair and cleaned the area. No one called, I contacted them after the fact and my friends have contacted them multiple times. NO RESPONSE! It was a lovely time except for those burns... we didn't use the fire pit again because we were afraid of it happening again! I could get past this happening what I can't get past is the lack of attention to a person who was seriously injured.

Yelp
Friends and acquaintances have talked about Costanoa for years, and feedback was frankly a bit over the map over their level of satisfaction. I think most of what I heard about were about the individual cabins and cottages which came in different styles and sizes. Now Jamie W and I have already tried glamping at Treebones Resort down in Big Sur, and while the yurt was impressively decked out, it wasn't an experience we were looking to repeat (review: https://yelp.to/ahbPZQoPKs). That's why we liked the idea of the lodge accommodations in their main building for our first visit here. Only a little over an hour's drive from our home, Costanoa is nestled in the woods off Hwy One and required a minimum two-night stay which worked out just fine for a weekender. We arrived on early Friday evening and even though the registration desk was busy, it didn't take long for us to check into our second floor room. I don't know why I expected it to be rustic and worn at $250 per night, but it wasn't at all. There was a comfy King-size bed and a patio overlooking mostly trees and a bit of the parking lot. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious with an Australian rain shower head. No TV (on purpose), but you'd hardly call it roughing it. We took advantage of the on-site restaurant, the surprisingly good Cascade but mostly for their espresso martinis with campfire marshmallows. We're not really outdoorsmen, but we did manage the easy hike around Franklin Point on our first evening. On our second evening, we walked around the grounds to see what the campgrounds were like. Hectic with lots of kids running around. Good thing we didn't go down that rabbit hole. BTW Jamie and I managed to win second place in the trivia contest though they made us change our team name. They didn't think 'Dos Homos' was family friendly. RELATED - Exploring the Pacific side of the SF peninsula? Here's my collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/3aiDR9I

Yelp
Costanoa is fun for the whole family! We just got back from a big family trip and we were pleased to find that there were accommodations for everyone. Older family members enjoyed the comfort of the cabins, and many of us enjoyed the outdoor structured tents. My husband and I shared a tent with our toddler, and we found that the full bed + twin bed setup was the best for us. Costanoa provided the perfect "glamping" experience with their communal bathrooms and shower set up. My husband was so excited to find that there was a sauna as well. There are several things for young kids to do (arts and crafts activities led by Costanoa, a nice outdoor playground, etc.) and there's 2 different restaurants on site. We ate at the Cascade restaurant on our last night and we were happy with our service and the amazing drinks from the bar. The food was tasty, but nothing spectacular. The hiking we did at Costanoa was the perfect level of difficulty for us, and we liked that we didn't have to travel far to get a hike in with a beautiful view. Keep an eye out for poison oak, because it can be found along the trails! Overall, Costanoa was a great spot for our family to come together and spend some time outdoors. The amenities are everything you need for a "glamping" experience, but I do think some upgrades could be put in place since it's advertised as "luxury camping". With all of that being said, we'd love to return someday!

Yelp
This place is so peaceful. The lodge to stay in is absolutely stunning. The only thing they need to work on the food and worker situation. Really bad

Yelp
4-5 star potential operating at a 2-3 star level. If you're entirely self sufficient and have low expectations, this place is beautiful and may deliver a casual, hands-off experience. But they bill themselves as a luxury destination and have price points to match. So much of the service level of the operation may leave you wanting. Internet? Sometimes. Bottled water? They're out. Coffee? They make it so slowly there's a parade of 6-8 disappointed visitors between empty carafes. Questions? You'll get shrugs and wrong information from staff that seem way too compartmentalized in their jobs and knowledge of the property. A comfortable place to sit, work, and plug-in? Those are hard to find and their lobby has three lounge chairs. They very much need a lounge or additional gathering space. The Cascade restaurant was a highlight. We showed up at a late lunch hour before the dinner menu was in effect. We asked if we could order something we knew they had at dinner at they accommodated. The Impossible burger was seasoned by someone who cared about making it taste a bit different. Great flavor. I sent an email with my feedback and got no response.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! Been coming here for the past 10 years. Cannot stress enough that we have the best experience every time. Beautiful scenery and lush grounds. The Cascade restaurant is so good. Quiet, peaceful and serene. Highly recommend

Yelp
We loved our stay here! What a gem. We rv camped. Bathrooms were clean and nice. There were even sonas and fireplaces in each bathroom. The cascade restaurant was good and my kids loved the general store. Walk to beach was pretty easy and I got to see sunsets every night. Also really great running and hiking paths from the camp. We will be back!

Yelp
I have stayed at Costanoa many times over the past 10 years in all different areas of the resort. It is a unique and special place. The location is stunning and the various accommodations provide something for every price point and every person. I have also been working with them for professional events and can't speak highly enough about the events and catering staff led by Rachel Borick. They are helpful, kind, and hard working. This is a full 5 star review for the resort and their expert staff.

Yelp
RV campground is so nice and grassy and clean. Lots of activities to keep busy. Bike ride along the ocean to Half moon bay was outstanding

Yelp
I am currently on my second night of my 2-day stay and I must say my review would be 2 and 1/2 Stars. The cabin would receive 4 Stars but the cabin support receives a half a star. The cabin itself is very nice and we were told would be fully stocked. When we arrived, the refrigerator had been turned off, either by the last person staying there or housekeeping to save on electricity. Typically not a problem, however, turning on the fridge took over 7 hours to cool down. Considering that we had stopped in Half Moon Bay and spent close to $300 on groceries, refrigeration was desperately needed. A lot of the meat and dairy products were beginning to become warm and luckily we had saved the ice packs, so we put everything back in the cooler for the overnight. There is an emphasis on being green here and they have separate trash and recycle bins, which I think is a great idea. However, Our trash bin became full and I called housekeeping to ask for more trash bags. We left for the day to Santa Cruz and upon our return, the trash was picked up but a new trash bag was not replaced. I have since called the front desk and asked for replacement trash and recycled bags, as the recycle bin will fill up shortly and I have yet to have them delivered; 2 hours and counting. $1,100 for a two-night stay is definitely not something I would recommend. For example, our family took a trip to Universal Studios for 5 days and hotel, Park admission and gas was only $1,500 and we were staying in a suite in Burbank; just 4 MI from universal studios.
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
I had highly rated them on Google Maps, but now they have just raised their prices, which is fine, inflation and all. When we get there to spend the night, there is an extra $10/night for non-electric cars. No information about this until you get there!~|| What an A#$%% move. This is our last overnight stay while this inane policy is in force.

Yelp
So I have a disability which requires a $30 device to be installed in the room. Something while on stays at other hotels, been more than happy to accommodate. Prior to booking at Coastanoa I tried to reach out to them to find out if they could accommodate me. No answer. With the clock ticking and my wife and I's 27th anniversary looming, I booked one of the duplex cottages. In the special notes section I asked again if they could accomidate me. They did answer, and the answer was, "We can't take liability for that" Liability? I asked them to explain further, and to give them a copy of my disability note from Kaiser. No response. I commented, "I wish you would have told me this prior to taking my money" Due to this one small detail, I knew my overall stay at Coastanoa would be uncomfortable, but it got worse. The room next to us held a rowdy group of people. While these duplex cabins only have a single bed, somehow our neighbors crammed 5 or 6 people in there. I don't know if they were sleeping in there, but I do know that they were up till 11:30 at night. While my wife and I live nearby in San Jose, we both WFH with east coast schedules, and are out around 10pm at night. This is a stark contrast to other KOA's I've been to, where security does a good job of telling people to quiet down. Combined with the skylights that have no shade, the sun blares into your room at an ungodly hour in the morning forcing you to rise and shine with the birds. That being said though, it was a nice location, but nearby for the same price I could have gotten a VBRO that would have been a lot more compassionate towards my disability. My final morning here, I woke up to shower and found the communal bathroom/shower locked. I tried calling the front desk from my room phone, and got no answer. My wife who had been watching how the service here works said, "They see the call coming from the room, and think there's a problem, let me call from a cell and watch them pick it up because they'll think it's a reservation!" Sure enough.. It worked, and that pretty fairly summarizes the service here at Coastanoa. Employees will only service what they feel like isn't a bother, and will not pick up a phone or reply to an email. A former employer got hit by one of those drive by disability law firms. I still remember their name, I might reach out to them to see if they can straighten this place out. Let's see how they like the liability of not giving a $30 reasonable accommodation. Not a handi-friendly place.

Yelp
awesome wonderful place. Rvs, lodge, resteraunt, gift shop, ect. I recommend that you stop off here off hwy 1 in pescadero . Lots to look at. I have never stayed here but heard a lot of good things about it I have ate at cascades which I reviewed here on yelp and I recommend

Yelp
Beautiful place but extremely loud at night. Large groups of kids just roaming around at night screaming after quiet hours, parents do nothing, no one does anything. I booked my cabin a year in advance for Halloween time and I regret that now. If you go best to do it in the off season or not at all. Unfortunately a lot of rudeness too. Stayed at the south Santa Cruz koa last year and while it's not as pretty people were much nicer.
google avatar

Christy K.

Yelp
I have stayed her at least 5 times over many years, but our last trip with 11 teen boys and 11 moms was probably the best! It's the perfect place for kids to roam safely and explore on their own terms. The mom freely roamed too and we all had two amazing dinners at Pine Tent. We had originally been booked for Cascade but the outdoor atmosphere was a better fit for our group . Chloe helped us preorder and reserve tables for our large party and the staff was helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The food was great too! We will be back again!

Yelp
Horrible place. Dirty, rundown, tired, terrible customer service. Not worth the money. Not at all high end.

Yelp
We came here in May 2023 for the long Memorial Day weekend and stayed 3 nights in the Cypress bungalow/tent. This is a really awesome place for glamping. There are areas for RVs, ground space for campers that want to pitch their own tents, a village of bungalow tents with beds, and nicer cabins. This is a kid friendly place, so there were a lot of kids running around playing and riding bikes all over the campgrounds. Cypress tent: It had a queen size bed, electric heating blanket, a space heater, 1 nightstand, 2 small lights, and just enough space to walk around the bed, so there's just enough room to sleep and change in the tent. This was perfect for what we were looking for and the blanket and space heater kept us plenty warm. We were even too toasty at one point so we shut off the heating blankets in the middle of the night. You're relatively close to other tents and since they're not real walls, you hear your neighbors' conversations and loud birds. In our case, there was also a baby in the tent next to us so I woke up to a baby crying a couple of times the first night, but I solved this by getting complimentary ear plugs from the front desk lobby for the other nights and slept just fine. Bathroom & Showers: Staying in the cypress village/bungalow tent, we were a short walking distance to the shared bathrooms and showers that they call comfort stations. The bathrooms also have a central fireplace area with chairs where folks can come gather and hangout around a fire. The showers are outdoors (although there was one shower inside the bathroom as well) and the water gets really hot and they also supplied shampoo, conditioner, and body wash inside the showers. I recommend bringing water shoes or some sort of shower shoes since you wouldn't want to go barefoot in the showers, but other than that the showers and bathroom are pretty well-maintained. In our tent, they supplied metal shower caddies with towels, little shampoos and soap, and robes. Food options: - They have Casacde which is their nicer restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We made a reservation for dinner on a Friday night and it was pretty good, just the pricer option for food - Pine and Tent is their more casual spot for food and drinks. We ate almost all our meals here on Saturday and Sunday. We got coffee and breakfast burritos in the morning and for lunch and dinner had their pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and other salad and sandwiches they had - A small general store for snacks and food items that you can grill or cook if you're opting to make something yourself at your campsite. I saw a fridge with bacon, eggs, etc. so they have all the necessities to allow campers to cook their own food without having to leave Costanoa to look for a grocery store. They also had beer and wine. Hikes: **recommend wearing long pants and long sleeves due to poison ivy & ticks in the area** - For a costal scenic hike, my favorite hike was Franklin point which is about 3 miles. You do have to cross the Highway 1 but the hike was very rewarding to hike along the coast and see the beach and the terrain felt diverse. We started on dirt then we were walking on small rocks, then crossed the highway road, I remember there being grassy parts, sandy parts, and also parts where there were wooden planks to pave the path. Overall this was my favorite hike because of how beautiful the coastal view was. I would definitely do this hike again. - Ohlone Ridge hike was also about 3 miles and this is on the more forest-y side of Costanoa. Lots of greenery and trees. We spotted a lot of poison ivy on this trail so we were careful about not touching anything at all. We saw a lot of rabbits hopping around on this hike and it was worth getting to the top to see the overlook, even though it was a bit foggy and overcast when we went. We found a tick on my sweater after this hike (dog ticks are known to be common here), so I highly recommend checking all your clothes after any of the hikes and changing immediately after into a new set of clothes if possible. - Whitehouse creek beach was about 2 miles and we also had to cross the highway for this trek. The stairs down to the beach were pretty steep but was worth getting down where we found lots of tidepools. We spent some time looking at little crabs, shells, and cool rocks. I would come return again and think this would be a great glamping place to do with friends.

Yelp
We go here a lot in our RV. So I will give you an honest review. It is what I would call, upscale rustic. lol. I mean let's be honest, it's still a place where RVs and lodgers come to relax. The grounds themselves are amazing. It's well maintained, the Seascape and Whalers loops are really amazing. And often booked far in advance. As far as amenities, it's pretty awesome! Depending on where you stay, you'll have a gas grill, a lovely fire ring, and ridiculously comfortable Adirondack chairs that are actually Amish made (IYKYK - the quality is top notch). I'll get to the restaurant in a second, but the little general store is okay. I wish they'd be able to offer more in the way of local meats and cheeses, but they pretty much have everything you forgot or broke on your trip. The Pine Box bar is OUTSTANDING... when it's open. I'm always sad they don't open it during the week. They have lots of fun crafts and games for little people. Suuuuper dog friendly. There is absolutely nothing surrounding it except for beach and trails. This is the rustic part. Unless you have Starlink, plan on NO WIRELESS, unless you walk to the conference area or the restaurant. Beach is a hike but unbelievably worth it. Remember we are NorCal. Very rarely do we have hot days. There will ALWAYS be wind there. The upside is, you can have a beach pretty much to yourself! And the selfies are spectacular! So the restaurant. I love it. Best restaurant I have been to in any RV type place. And it is really good even if it weren't in an RV type place. Picky eaters may have a hard time here. They offer many selections and recipes featuring their own grown gardens (which you can visit but not pick). Their Bolognese is a true Sunday Suca sauce. It will make your tummy happy. As will their wine selection. The staff is stupidly cool, nice, laid back. Especially the gal at the bar, I'll get her name the next time we go. (Her name is Erin!) Coastanoa is a gem for KOA. Expensive as far as RV parks go. Perfect for glampers. Happy to answer any questions. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not five is because of WiFi. I'd give them 4.5 but Yelp doesn't offer that. Which is stupid. Oh! You MUST have a water regulator when plugging in. Yes they sell them.

Yelp
Take your pick! Choose how you want to camp here. Hotel Room Cabin RV Yurt Tent ... On the ground (?) Amazing location with an easy to see view of the ocean. Clean and beautiful grounds. Playground for the littles. Bikes for the older kids. Outdoor games for all. General store for snacks and dranks. - PRO TIP - taste the maple at the register! The cinnamon maple so GOOD! And there is just so many more things I can write about Casanoa. But let me just say, I highly recommend staying here and disconnecting to reconnect with nature. Last note cons - The website is terrible and needs to be updated to make it easier to book. A con to some - little to know reception and highly limited wifi.... But let's be honest, we all need to disconnect from the world and sometimes it has to be forcefully done.

Yelp
Stayed her 4 nights with wife and friends. This place has good and bad but definitely feel the bad is not that big of a deal. The good- this place is in a really nice park across highway 1 from the beach. Most sites will have a view of the ocean. There are hiking trails both in mountains and down to the beach. There is a nice store on site as well as a restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. There is also security 24-7. They also have a bbq restaurant that opens on weekends and they have live music at times. There is a playground dog park and bike rental. So it offers a lot. The bad- the sites are very tight unless you get the most expensive premium ones. It's not bad if you have a back in because you get a large area behind your site with grass and tent deck. The pull throughs however have basically no room outside your Rv. Now the real bad. There is basically no phone service and WiFi is almost unusable unless at restaurant so this is a get off the internet and phone type of place. Also there is no pool or hot tub which was a bummer. The back in site rate wasn't bad. I think $102 but the prices go up from there. All in all we had a nice time and all said would go back.

Yelp
We have stayed in the campground three times in the past five months. We love it here. Large dog park with good grass. Campsites are large and all have views of the Pacific. We like the bar and restaurant. There is a lot to do in the area. Yesterday we found the off leash dog beach in Santa Cruz near the surf museum. A perfect dog beach. Half Moon Bay is a quaint town with good window shopping.

Yelp
I'm shocked this place only has three stars. Before reading on, this review is for parents with small kids. We stayed in the tent home and came here on a Thursday evening and left on Friday afternoon. Two big variables to consider when reading my review. First, they have a general store in from of the site that can get you most necessities. The restaurant on site by the general store is AMAZING! We ate dinner and breakfast there and they did not disappoint. Now the site itself is HUGE. We rented this bike that sat 5 and the kids loved it. You can bring your own bikes / scooters if you want. The playground, open nature space, crafts, and the fresh air and trees was just wonderful. Even the darn drive up was nice. The tent homes are just big enough for sleeping so don't expect your kids to bring toys and play on the floor. They have blanket warmers that pay dividends at night bc it gets COLD. There is a fire pit by the tents to have your midnight s'mores camp fire. Each tent has two chairs in from and a picnic table/ bench. The site gave us one flashlight but I recommend you bring a few bright ones. The tents don't have bathrooms but there is a big main bathroom that's really nice and clean for all to use but you will have to walk there in the middle of the night for a potty break. We brought a portable potty for our kids. This was an ideal escape from the Bay for the adults and a nice way of letting our kids enjoy nature. So glad our friends invited us. This will be a go-to escape for our family for many years.

Yelp
Recently, my family stayed at this location for our big family summer camping trip. We had to plan and budget this very carefully because in addition to my wife working 12 hours a day at the hospital, we also own a business and have only half time custody of our son.  Last year, we stayed here after an exhausting, unrestful trip to a large and loud RV park in Pismo that left us desperately searching for a quieter, more regulated and monitored place for next year's trip. We tried Costonoa and it was the most peaceful place on the planet, where noise and baking dogs were not an issue. We loved it so much that we skipped our Weezer concert in Berkeley to hang out at the campground and even added an extra night.  This year, when we arrived, we were excited for the same amazing, restful campground.  Over the five miserable days we spent there, we called on three different occasions about the many MANY nonstop barking, howling and SCREAMING dogs that were on every side of us, and received zero response. It began at 6am, right beside us, and lasted for hours every day that we were there. The saddest factor of this, besides the fact that our calls went completely unaddressed the entirety of the trip, was that almost every day we had new neighbors, each of them with dogs they left alone to bark straight into our camper for hours. Our son, who is on the spectrum, was sleeping in a tent, and while he's reluctant to complain about anything and has a sunny disposition, he was very worn down even when we took him to celebrate a year of straight A's, to the boardwalk.  The staff was as kind as they were last time on the few occasions we saw them, but beyond that, we heard nothing except barking all five days we were there and the trip was more miserable than the campground in Pismo that was such a party and dog-abandonment hub we sought out Costanoa to find peace. We carefully planned and budgeted this trip. We looked forward to it all year long. It was a massive massive disappointment, and while it was a waste of A LOT of money, we also can't get our time back. We would never come back after this visit and this will be reflected in any online review we can post. With the cost of literally everything constantly rising and the world growing more and more chaotic, it's tremendously disappointing that even camping is an environment of paying hand over fist only to then pay the consequences of copious horrible dog owners that walk off with their drinks in hand to party while their dogs are left unattended for hours to disrupt the peaceful space we paid a lot to stay in. Even as these folks were at their sites, and there were SEVEN different yapping-dog campsites along Eucalyptus alone, they allowed their dogs to do this without batting an eye.  This was called about repeatedly and messages were left.  We had to spend extra money just to find extra things to do to get out of the campground and be away from the constant EXTREMELY LOUD, UNCHECKED noise.  Our family is very saddened by this experience and there is only so much time available to book something else to make up for a bad camping trip.

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights at their yurts. We had a queen bed and 2 twins (bunk beds). The drive to this spot was laidback and scenic. Pros - If you're from the bay, this spot isn't too far away and makes a great getaway from the city life. You can take a drive out to Santa Cruz/Capitola if you wanted to shop and eat out. The beach is right across the main road and totally vacant during our time there. The grounds are well kept. They have an outdoor restaurant and community tables for you to kick it. May want to make rezzies in advance though. The bathrooms were clean but somewhat dated and dark. Cons; You're next to the water so it's pretty cold. We stayed in the month of March (end of the month) and it was 40 degrees at night and super windy. Thankfully they provided extra goose-down blankets to make the nights bearable. They also provided robes. When I booked our spot, I emailed staff about questions I had regarding our stay. No one got back to me. Not cool. Other than that, we had a great time!

Yelp
I booked a "cabin" but did not realize it did not include a private shower, only a private toilet and sink. I contacted Expedia which then claimed to have called Costanoa but was unable to get a hold of them. I had just spoken to them but was directed to Expedia as I had made my booking on there. Costanoa had told me the new room was "only $9 more" which was great. Expedia told me they would have to file for a waiver in order to get me a refund for the previous room. I agreed and paid for this new room. However, Expedia has now said the property (which makes my review relevant here) rejected to waive my fee for canceling the other room to book the new one. So now I paid $258.17 for the first booking and $267.15 for the new one. Both bookings were for the same night. Costanoa is nice but not $525 nice. If waivers are bound to be rejected than Expedia/Costanoa should just refuse refunds/changes after their deadline altogether. I was tricked with false promises. All the staff I interacted with at Costanoa were great during my stay. However, the (potential) refund process used by Expedia/this property left me disappointed.

Yelp
We've been camping here for years and apparently they got all new staff. We were very disappointed with the new staff. One of new staff came over and told our neighbor to lower his American flag 6" because it couldn't be higher than the roof on Independence Day. OK the new young staff that work the kiosk are extremely rude and not friendly. We are in site s20 if any of you would like to come and talk to us. We booked last year and when we showed up, they had moved our sites to a different spot and split up the group we camp with..

Yelp
This is a little slice of heaven. There's nothing like it. Not in the Bay Area or Northern California there isn't. I've stayed in the lodge, the cabins, pine village and cypress bungalows. I prefer the pine village bungalows because they have fire pits. #42 is my fav. It's right next to a comfort station which comes in handy in the middle of the night if you have to go to the bathroom or take a shower etc. There's a restaurant with a bar called Cascades that is always a great time. Love love love this place.

Yelp
This place was the WORST glamping site I've been too. The security was off the chain when it came to rules (not disclosed/or written) about noise, music, and the overall experience. We lost power (which by the way not their fault) but did I get an apology... did we get any decent service... If I was in locked up or an encampment, then yes. Treated like I was child and spoken to as if it was a homeland security threat. I highly suggest you avoid this place if you are black, Hispanic, Asian or not white. This was miserable......

Yelp
Unfortunately accurate about not being able to reach a live person repeatedly before arrival. We tried calling well over 12x between two phones (at separate times) and couldn't reach anyone to make dinner reservations at the restaurant. We drove out anyways and made the reservations in person only to find a full abundance of staff (to our complete surprise) and yet no one could answer the phone... we told 2 separate people we were there because we couldn't get any one on the phone and one chuckled and said well we are soo busy today. Unacceptable, if I'm not mistaken this is a hospitality business. We have been told the owners have 6+ properties so I would imagine they just aren't aware of what the staff are doing and how they might be losing a tremendous amount of business these days due to that exact treatment. The bungalows (have now stayed a few separate times) are a treat and you should know immediately upon arrival in cooler months to plug in and turn on the space heater in the room. About 1 hour before bed turn on the heated blanket in the room and then turn down low while you sleep or you'll wake in puddles of your own sweat lol. Community bathroom areas have a fireplace seating in between the girls and guys separated bathrooms. During normal times theres a collective sauna room offered as well. A bit unfortunate that to sit by the fire you have to hear strangers using the bathroom. Wish they had community pits around the property just not near the bathrooms. General store is full of local and organic treats and love the great finds, be warned you might get hooked on a new product or two stepping into that little store. Staff in-person are great and friendly but the last two times we drove up to the entrance the security station staff weren't wearing masks, so I guess the property has made that choice. Overall great outdoors location with a little luxury too, but don't have your hopes high as a lot has now changed on this property and not for the better at this time.

Yelp
I've been coming to Costanoa (KOA) every year with my family, friends, and relatives since I was toddler. I'm in my early twenties now and I'd have to say, almost every experience I've had here, was nothing but great things. There have been countless of memories kept here with my family and friends and some pretty funny stories that occurred here. This place is truly remarkable to visit. I have seen a lot of negative reviews here and on Google, but from my point of view, all of the Staff and Groundskeepers are respectful, the people here are great to interact with, and the restaurant food is quite good. You might have a different experience from the RV camping experience compared to the Bungalow/Tent camping experience. But from my understanding, the bungalow camping experience has always been positive for myself and others. I've heard great things about the RV experience being positive, but personally, I wouldn't fully know answer. Throughout the years, there really hasn't been any service here and the WiFi back then used to only be in the restaurant and front lodge. But now, almost every spot at this Camping Ground has WiFi, though it can be iffy at times. I wouldn't rely on your electronics out here if you were planning on doing job-related work. You'll face a lot of network issues, unless you carry a personal hotspot or go to the Front Lodge or Restaurant. This place has gained popularity throughout the years, which looks like the business here is finding great success. The beach is always a great destination to hit. Plenty of hiking opportunities and things to explore (I recommend hitting Pigeon Point). On top of that, it gets really COLD at night. The Weather can be foggy & misty one day, then blazing hot the next. So, even during the summer, you should bring a lot of gear. On top of this review, I would definitely recommend anyone or a family to visit here for the weekend. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I would give zero stars if I could: Terrible customer service. Target people intentionally and will add charges to your site that they can't prove (like charging us for trash that we didn't leave at our site and have pictures to prove it). Customer service is terrible. Aaron is rude and hung up on me three times when I tried to respectfully dispute the charge. They want to charge hotel prices but you feel like you're being watched ALL THE TIME! This is NOT the same wonderful place we're used to visiting for years, really down hill now! Do not come here. We've been coming for years but will not return. We called KOA and they told us because this is now a privately owned campsite, there's nothing they can do.

Yelp
Beautiful setting Commenting on the restaurant Definitely needing to work on their service. Waited for placing food order, arriving once it was cold and not with the others in my group. Food was passable but definitely not worth being a destination for the food. I had the turkey burger with the fries, both arrived cold and bland. Ate half of the food and decided to stop by Pescadero to get some baked goods to fill up before going back over the hill. Paying for the meal took longer than being seated and being served the food. Went up to pay at the counter and was told the server would be with us - 10 mins later. OK place to go for a drink, maybe but not worth going for the food. Beautiful area to hike around, but don't really need to go to Costenoa for that , esp while already on the coast

Yelp
Best RV park Ive stayed at since we've had an RV ( 2004). Big restaurant, great general store with organic veggies from the Koa's huge gardens on the grounds. Beautiful grounds, view of the ocean, narrow space but big area behind the RV with fireplace and a deck. Reasonable pricing. Dog park was great.. big. Walking the park was delightful. We will be returning often.

Yelp
This KOA was just simply beautiful. Our experience was top notch from the reservation process to checkout. The grounds are simply perfect! Beautiful manicured lawns and the Club K-9 area was unmatched by any other campground/resort we've ever been to (if you have larger dogs you know how gross some of the dog relief areas can be). I will say, for the people that have yet to come here, that it is not "beachfront" but they have spectacular ocean views and are only a short walk down to the beach areas. If you've come across this KOA and you're thinking to yourself; "should we?", YES YOU SHOULD!

Yelp
We stayed at Costanoa KOA Friday-Sunday in the Coast Village loop, site C45. It was FHU, basic cable and minor leveling needed. The free WiFi was garbage. I got better service with 1 bar of AT&T. The site was clean, had a wood fire pit and a deck to the rear for hammocks, chairs or whatever. The foliage between the sites is beautiful in the Coast Village loop. The Pine-Tent bar and grill was great. Loved the live music on Saturday night, the food was good, staff was friendly and the cocktails were reasonably priced. Just a good relaxing vibe. The kids activities were pricey but so worth it! My little one loved making a tie dye shirt ($30) and walking stick ($30). If you bring your own white 100% cotton shirt, it's only $15 but it won't say Costanoa on the front. The staff were super helpful, patient and friendly. On Sunday morning, the campground hosted a free Falconing Event and a local professional brought his trained hawk, giving an excellent presentation for the kids and adults. The hike to the beach is fun and rewarding once you get there. It's definitely not a swimming beach, but it's nice to watch. The only downside is having to cross a very active Hwy 1 with kids and no crosswalk. This is a relaxing, family friendly, pet friendly KOA. The General Store on the property has a lot of dry goods, some wine and grocery items and a lot of nicknack things you probably do not need. The Cascade Restaurant is also onsite. We went on Sunday morning for breakfast. They said it'd be a 15 minute wait when we walked up. Fifty five minutes later, they said our table was ready. We saw an older couple walking out and they said that they had been waiting 20 minutes at the table for service and no one ever came, so they were leaving. So rather than subject my family to another large waste of time with a lack of service, we left too. The employees clearly didn't care. I would NEVER recommend the Cascade Restaurant for Sunday breakfast unless you have a few hours to kill. We ended up just getting coffee and breakfast burritos at Pine-Tent with only a 7 minute wait and they were very good. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
Costanoa is absolutely amazing period!! I heard so many wonderful things about this place. I was not sure what to expect because I do not really care for camping. However I love going to luxury resorts and staying at really nice hotels. Well this resort has it all!! There is something for everybody. You want to bring your RV that's cool . There is a whole area just for motorhomes . They have tent bungalows for 2 or for a family of 6. They have Douglas Fir Cabins , campground cabins , coastal studio rv that accommodates up to 5 people. If tent camping is your thing they have a spot where you can pitch your tent .You can also stay in the lodge if you prefer. I stayed in the lodge . I had a king room with a view . It was so damn nice!! I wanted a lodge premium that has a shower ,deep soak tub & a fireplace but they were all booked. I was not mad because my room was gorgeous!! Beds were comfortable & the bathroom was amazing. It was a nice big size, very spacious. I loved the walk-in shower . First off it was so beautiful!! The temperature & water pressure was perfect. They had toiletries for you to use . We loved the soap !! The room had keurig with coffee & tea. There was also 2 really nice plush robes hanging in the closet. So comfortable , perfect for lounging & relaxing. And my view was absolutely stunning!! You have double patio doors that open up . And there was 2 really comfortable chairs to sit on . I loved having my coffee there in the morning just soaking up that view. All of the employees were extremely friendly and super accommodating. If you needed fresh towels or champagne glasses they would bring to your room or you could pick up at the front desk. The guy who checked me in let me know that the hot tub was not available due to COVID-19. I had my grandmas dog with me that I was bringing to my mom who was staying in her RV. He informed me I could not have the dog in my room. I loved how everything was so close. They have a cute store on property that you can get snacks , champagne & souvenirs. They have a take & go restaurant called Pine Tent that you can get a morning coffee & a breakfast burrito Togo. Or you can grab a beer or glass of wine & eat on their limited menu and listen to music. They have a live band at night . Super chill . They also have a really nice restaurant that you can dine in with your family called Cascade. Food was so bomb!! Costanoa offers many activities every day such as making tie dye shirts. They also have horseback riding for 12 and under . There is a beautiful hiking trails and a beach across the street to go check out the waves. What I loved most about this place is how safe I felt!! I always felt safe . Kids can ride around on their bikes by themselves. And you don't have to worry. We could leave our bikes wherever and didn't have to worry about someone stealing them . I left my patio doors open the entire time I didn't have to worry . As far as COVID-19 safety & precautions all employees wore masks and were constantly cleaning. Campgrounds were kept extremely clean. And they have limited seating in the restaurant. I can not stress enough how great this place is!! I can not wait to go back!!!!

Yelp
KOA here did not disappoint. Great views of the ocean. Quiet campsites. Nice hike and biking trails. On-site store is well stocked with a good variety of options. Cascade restaurant was delicious and fresh!! There are lots of site options for different type of camping. Was enjoyable to watch retreats doing activities all over the campground. Nice area for dogs to run around. Plenty of wild life to enjoy. Fire pits provided at sites. Maintenance crew was on top of keeping grounds clean. Definitely a regular place to camp. expect to have no internet access while being here. It's spotty as much of the coast is. I was rather happy for this as I wanted to family to disconnect and get outside and do things.

Yelp
KOA RV park with other accommodations such as cabins, tent cabins, tent sites, and lodge on property with many amenities. Located approximately halfway between Santa Cruz and San Francisco, this is an excellent option for rustic camping in a beautiful, peaceful location. The property sits across highway 1 from the beach. You can see water in the distance. I'd guesstimate the water is about a mile from the property, across highway 1 and then it's a long walk over sand to get to the water. Beautiful clean, remote beaches in the area. One side of the property leads to sandy beach. The other side past the main entrance has a easier hike over packed earth to a tide pool beach. The resort offers a restaurant, weekend cafe, and small market. There is also a spa that is closed due to COVID. Horse stables are there for viewing, no petting or riding offered. An off-leash dog park is available too. The best thing about this location is that you could take day trips to both Santa Cruz one day (under 30 miles away) and another day to visit San Francisco which is 44 miles away. It was perfect for us to visit the cities but drive back to this campsite each evening. The bathhouses are clean and the most upscale that I've seen at any RV park. They offer blow dryers, private toilet stalls, private shower stalls, and a nice stone vanity with plenty of mirrors. Outside between the bathrooms is a stone fireplace for lounging. One laundry room is available but it is very small, only 3 washers and 4 dryers. It only takes quarters and costs $2 to wash, $1.75 to dry. I did not see a change machine. There are various maintained lawns around the property with a nice main lawn with seating between the restaurant and market. Other than the lawns, there are lots of dry, yellow patchy areas with weeds between lawns and all around the RV sites. We picked up ticks just outside of our trailer where we had our campfire. The amount of foxtails all over the place is also a hazard to pets. So the main negative is the weeds, ticks, and foxtails. This KOA has NO Pool and no activities for kids. There is a small playground. I saw bike rentals for $75 per day. No jumping pillow, no banana bikes, no climbing wall. The signs marking this as a KOA are brown instead of yellow. KOA is underplayed here. Overall this is a nice secluded, rustic, but refined place to visit. Highly recommended for those liking to stay out of the city and near the ocean off PCH. Price for sites reflects that this is the only RV park in the general area.

Yelp
The youth group I volunteer with stayed in the tent area, near the RVs. The campsite was nice. Weather (late July) was pleasantly chilly. Within a couple hundred feet of the tent site was a "comfort station," with men's and women's restrooms, which were clean and well stocked, included hair dryers, and had a rustic feel. Unfortunately, there was only one shower in each restroom, but I suspect that was because it was near the RV site, and the RVs obviously have their own showers. I heard there were comfort stations with more showers elsewhere. The comfort station also had a nice fireplace, and the KOA provided wood for guests to use in that fireplace. There was also a dry sauna (which I didn't use, but peeked in, and it looked nice) as well as a laundry room with three washers and dryers. The machines are coin operated, OR (the option I used) could be paid for using an app, accessible by the QR code on the machine. On that note, wifi is spotty. I changed my wifi settings to allow mobile data, and was able to connect to site wifi that way. As for the campsite, it had a sink to wash dishes in the "common area." There were outlets by the sink, which I used to charge my phone. Camping spots were designated in squares. Beware: You cannot set up hammocks in the trees. Two of our staff did, and Security was quick to address it. As for the area, the trees and herb garden flanking the campsite made it a pleasant place to be. The entire KOA looked nice. I'd be interested in getting a cabin in the future, and trying out the two restaurants. Aside from only one shower in the comfort station near our site, and spotty wifi, I enjoyed my visit.

Yelp
This place may look nice with its manicured spots and gas grills at each site. However the rogue security team and lack of management left me with ptsd. While camping w a large group we were stalked by security to the point where we are apparently not allowed back. Our numerous offenses below (apparently equal to over 11 disturbances claimed by management who never once said anything and rebooked everyone happily.) Not moving our car immediately after we unloaded at our site Playing music at 5pm Kids (mostly toddlers) running and playing too loudly Taking too large a group picture ??? These were the only issues where security interacted with us directly. However the security guards were constantly circling our area like we were criminals and even sneaking up between campsites to try and catch us doing something they could complain about. Honestly the sketchy stalker vibes were so high I did not sleep well at all. More so than the horrific stalking was the approach when they did speak up. It was very aggressive and combative. Literally walking up yelling and cursing when there are kids 7 and under all around you. Not sure how or why security or management think that is appropriate behavior but I found it ridiculous not to mention traumatizing for the kids. I just don't understand what they expect when they have a group of over 20 sites. Is everyone supposed to whisper? This was a group of young families catching up playing soccer, throwing footballs and trying to enjoy time with their families and decompress. Unfortunately at Costanoa the only people allowed to make any noise are the rude security guards and the band that plays from their restaurant which echoed through the park. Honestly this place needs to take a good look at its morals and vision. Save your money and go anywhere else unless you plan on sitting in absolute silence on your visit. 1 star because yelp won't let you give less.

Yelp
Came here for a wedding celebration and the place was great! Beware there is terrible internet connection (hence 4 starts) but otherwise a beautiful place! We stayed in the main lodge but there was camping, glamping, and some cabins for folks. Food was good but service at the restaurant was slow.

T H.

Yelp
While the tent cabins are pretty nice and comfortable, their support staff is absolutely ridiculous. I have been trying to get a hold of them for more than 2 weeks to get a confirmation receipt of an upcoming stay. Phones not getting answered and emails are not getting returned. Stay away

Yelp
Almost hesitant to write this review because I don't want to blow this place up anymore... love how quiet and peaceful it is. They really have everything for a nice little get away. We have stayed in the "glamping" tents / bungalows , the lodge rooms, a cabin and camped! Our favorite experience was the cabin by far . Loved the fireplace in the room and quiet patio overlooking the ridge, definitely worth it . Bathroom in the room but no shower . The comfort stations are nice though and they keep them very well maintained. The grounds landscaping is absolutely gorgeous... so many beautiful flowers and trees. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Too many rolls not friendly and very expensive place to stay No cable and very busy place
