Five of us stayed in three rooms at the Costina Hotel, whose impressive lobby outshines its merely adequate rooms. Leaky toilets were a widespread problem. Water stopped running at around 8am, although whenever water was available, it was available hot. The hotel restaurant’s menu looked extensive, but almost nothing on it was actually available. || Toilet problems were chronic—ours leaked continuously, wetting the floor, and its outlet valve often failed to close, preventing the tank from filling and therefore the toilet from flushing. The bathroom had a strong swampy smell, suggesting that the plumbing lacked the requisite traps. Breakfast consisted of an omelet, one roll, and one cup of tea or coffee; anything else cost extra. There's no Wi-Fi. Electrical outlets in our room were all dead, so the TV was useless (not that we cared). Sleeping was difficult because of an all-night party.|| Getting our rooms sorted out took some time. The one assigned to two of us turned out to be already occupied, and they had to try five others before finding one with a working toilet.
