Yelp
Don't sleep on this one. I'm loving that another new, good urban winery has popped up. Take a few steps outside of Jack London Square for some QUALITY wine and at amazing price points. Feeling random on this past Saturday, I decided to text "wine tasting" in yelp; "Cote" (sorry, I don't know how to put the house on my letter o) popped up. It's over off of Embarcadero in that area by Coast Guard Island, not far from Jack London Square. The owner/wine maker Bret was pouring. Really cool guy that shared a lot about his wine making experience and the business that he and his wife have started. Got to hear a bit about their "Cote" story and got a tour of the facility and some welcome wine making education. Wine tasting is much more fun when the wine makers and winery staff share and educate us while enjoying the product. Speaking of the product.. $10 tasting fee waived with a bottle purchase. Tasted 5 of the 6 current releases. I don't typically like all of the wine in a winery but damn.. All 5 wines are stellar. The Sauvignon Blanc wasn't over citrusy, very well balanced and full of flavor, then the Rose with this interesting amber color made from a grape that I had never heard of "cougnouse" I think that was the spelling (not at home to look at the 2 bottles I purchased), well one left since I drank one last night with my chicken.. haha.. Now, the Chardonnay is something very special had a hint of spices in it that just gave it that extra "hello, how you doin?".. The 4th wine was a grenache, so smooth and fruit forward and interestingly very refreshing as in, i could sit out on a hot day and drink this in the sun and feel great.. We ended on the Pinot Noir.. This Pinot was/is delicious and ready to drink right after popping the cork.. Oh, and the tasting room is set up really nice, with a nice bar but also a casual sitting area, actually 2, one by the window and the other kind of like a little lounge area.. And peep the wallpaper in the bathroom, even if you don't need to go.. clever, cool wallpaper that shares a bit of Bay Area History.. So, I jumped on the club membership.. they have 2 options.. I did the 6 bottle, twice a year but am thinking I may need to move that to the 12 bottle twice a year soon..
