Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens

We were not sure about taking the time to visit, but at the end of the day we were very happy with our choice. We were impressed with the wide avid animals from penguins to rhinoceros. The lemur enclosure which we could walk through was a highlight. Our timing was impeccable as we went in jut prior to feeding. The grounds were quite pretty and very enjoyable to walk around and even see the impressive architecture. It was week woo the time wrre.

Really good day out, helped by being very reasonable weather for the time of year. No rain, not too cold, some sunshine. It was busy, being half term, but manageable and well organised. The restaurant was very busy at midday but is was moving quickly and tables being cleaned regularly. Not too long to wait for decent hot food. The animals looked well cared for and their enclosures really well thought out. Definitely more than enough to see in one day. The Rhinos seemed to be part of a successful breeding program. Throughout my childhood there were only 3 then 2 rhinos. Now there seemed to be 7 including some very cute looking young ones. The grounds were particularly impressive considering the time of year. Clearly a lot of effort goes into maintaining it this well. All in all would definitely recommend for a day out.

my family and i went in december right before christmas and there was so much to see! i especially loved the penguin feeding, it felt very close and personal. took my camera and had a blast taking photos of the animals! a great day out.

Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Gardens in Burford is absolutely amazing and a fantastic day out. The park is very clean, extremely well set up and set within beautiful surroundings, which makes walking around a real pleasure. There’s so much space and everything feels well looked after. There are lots of animals to see and plenty to keep both adults and children entertained. Our kids, aged 4 and 1, absolutely loved it and were engaged the whole time. Highlights for us included the owls, monkeys and birds, as well as the penguin feeding, which was brilliant to watch. The goat petting area was a big hit with the children, and seeing the giraffes up close was a real treat. The noisy lions were also a memorable highlight. Overall, it’s a great place for a family day out and somewhere we’d happily visit again. Highly recommended for anyone with young children or anyone who enjoys animals and beautiful outdoor settings.

First visit and can definitely say it won't be the last. What a truly lovely place. The animal enclosures are fabulous, clean and in keeping for each creatures needs. The gardens are stunning considering it is October, there were still some lovely flowers in bloom. Their restaurant was very clean and the carrot cake and coffee a perfect snack between strolling around. The gardens are set out in a way that is interesting to look at whilst walking between enclosures. It was soo clean and tidy. Great place to see some well cared for animals and birds.

Lots of different types of animals, which you can get quite close to. Definitely good value for money. Very spacious, didn't feel too busy anywhere in the park you went. Lots of food and drink options, reasonable prices. Good play area for kids. Only improvement would be clearer signposting throughout the park.

Had a wonderful day at Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Gardens! We booked tickets online and spent over three hours happily exploring. Even though it was sunny and very cold, the experience was magical—so many beautiful animals, birds, and reptiles, set in lovely surroundings. The atmosphere was lively with lots of visitors, yet it still felt peaceful and enjoyable. Truly a memorable day out and well worth a visit!

Really good zoo! Lots of animals and lovely grounds. We managed to see everything within a few hours (but it was winter, i’d imagine in summer you could spent a lot longer here) and had a nice hot chocolate from the cafe. We really liked the mix of animals here, lots of cute fluffy mammals but also a lot of indoor sections (frogs, insects, lizards etc, as well as a nocturnal animal rooms which was cool!) And also lions and wolves! Has a bit of everything, can’t wait to come back!

I've been coming here since I was a kid and it's still one of the best wildlife parks in the south. They're dog friendly and the dogs can go in most places apart from the wolf walk-through and some of the inside buildings like the bats. Most of the animals have adequate enclosures and room to roam. My dog was fascinated by the rhinos, joeys and giant tortoises! They have a restaurant but I recommend bringing your own picnic, especially if the weather is nice. There are multiple areas to set up for lunch. They also have coffee spots and nice ice cream. There's a playground for the little ones if you're doing a family trip and it's always been fun. Plus, the gift shop is a must! Definitely recommend.

We went to this zoo on a nice warm spring day. What a great decision. Yes, there were many people, but there is plenty of space. The garden like layout makes it ideal for this time of year. In addition, this zoo visit was made by the baby animals, a rhino, a camel and a giraffe. We had 3 lovely hours.

Me and the other babies in the maternity ward were insane. Our cots were party cots. They called us "Cotswild." With good reason. I was a child when I first came to Cotswold Wildlife Park. I thought it was absolutely fascinating and amazing. Over the years I came to realize that it was very cruel and tragic, what goes on in zoos and wildlife parks all over the world. For this reason I don't have the heart to give it more than 3 stars despite all the very sweet sentimental memories from my childhood. My brother got married minutes from here, recently. He lives 10 minutes down the road. I've been here a grand total of 15 times in my life, and while one side of my brain would recommend it to anyone who wants to expose their kids to wildlife and wonderful experiences, the other side of the brain - and all of my heart - would say don't contribute to an industry that enslaves wild animals.

This is a good and convenient place to visit for the day if in the area. We had a good meal as well. All the animals were in good condition and had ok sized enclosures. The reason I have marked it down is the reptile area. Those enclosures were far too small. But mainly the anaconda enclosure I was far from impressed with the size of the enclosure as it didn't even have enough room to full stretch out! Nor was it in anyway similar to their natural habitat. Simply this is just an average zoo, but good if you are in the area.

I reckon my 18 months old nephew (aka demon child/ drool monster) would give it about 100 stars. Penguins, meercats, goats, rabbits, funny birds, that wise thingy from lion king, zebras, lions, emus and the fattest pig ever were all present. We also went on the "Choo choo" and bought some ice cream and there is plenty of green space amongst the cages arranged around a beautiful manor. It is expensive at £10.50 a pop but I guess all zoos are expensive having to feed all those animals. Especially the fattest pig. Ever.

I arrived to the park on a cold and immeasurably damp February morning, with my consumerist hat neatly nestled on my frozen forehead. I then proceeded to baulk at the lack of key animals; the white rhino's on the leaflet were not grazing on the lawn (swamp) and the small mammals were huddled together in a tiny cranny towards the back of the cage. I then took my hat off and delighted at the effort that goes in daily at this place, it only closes on christmas! (and I'm sure even then staff will traipse in after the Queens speech to feed the lions). And whilst it's an incredibly unnatural setting and temperature for the equatorial beasts the Wildlife park quite rightly trumpets the impressive conservation work that it does (the flamingos took 20 years before they decided the Cotswolds were acceptable breeding grounds). I also realised that shepherding the Rhinoceros out of their tepid lodgings and out onto the lawn (swamp) purely for my benefit was both utterly ridiculous and certainly cruel, the other option is to close the park to avoid me moaning about false advertising. Despite the baltic conditions the meerkets merrily stood around posing for pictures whilst the red pandas stared curiously at the David-Cameron-unveiled Acorn statue near the cafe. I imagine in the summer months this place must be bustling with feisty and hormonal herbivores whilst the twee little train chugs around at a sloths pace. There's a adventure/playground profligate with slides and the scones weren't bad either. A truly great day out and I'd take the kids if I had any.

This park is a lovely venue especially for younger kids. I spent a wonderful day there with my 7 year old daughter. You get close to the animals, play ground areas are well equipped, there is an animal petting area and the variety of animals is strong. In addition the food is decent, the venue lovely and crowds low. Well worth a day visit to a beautiful part of the UK

Incredibly helpful, well informed staff. We are visiting from overseas and needed to take a cab from the village of Burford to get to the Wildlife Park, and the staff was helpful enough to recommend a cab company to make sure we had transportation for our return. This is not as large of a facility as say the National Zoo in Washington DC, or the San Diego Zoo, but it makes up for scale with the proximity it lets you have to the animals, especially the lemurs, whom you are able to get pretty close to, (perhaps something to consider with very young children) but other animals like the penguins. Even my highly skeptical teenager had a wonderful time. The "play area" is pretty great, too.

Cotswold Wildlife Park is one of our Witney team's top 5 family days out. Set in 160 acres of parkland and gardens and has been open to the public since 1970. The Park is home to a fascinating and varied collection of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates from all over the world.

Good day out lots to do although feel some of the animal pens could be bigger
