Essential Guide to Annecy, the 'Venice of the Alps'

"A family-run sister property to the famed lakeside inn, spread across three houses with 36 rooms and panoramic dining on Les Terrasses; it balances a small-hotel feel with resort amenities like a Boat Bar popular at sunset and a spa featuring an infrared sauna and body wrap treatments." - Lane Nieset Lane Nieset Lane Nieset is a travel writer from Miami who has lived in France for the past decade. We stayed at Cottage Bise a couple of times before, the last time being 12 years ago and always loved it. We decided to return this summer and it was the best decision. We travel all over the world, Japan, Singapore, Bali and always use very particular hotels based on our experiences and reviews. From the moment we drove into the car park, we were in heaven. Peace and tranquility reigns here....nothing much has changed which is lovely....the view is still drop dead gorgeous and the gardens are fabulous....we stayed in a junior suite (19) and it was incredible....lovely sitting area with a sofa and also a desk for my husband to work at...bathroom huge and stunning....the balcony was our favourite bit, shaded in the evening and in the morning....we had breakfast on it every morning which always arrived on time!...we had dinner on two nights and this was such an experience, the staff are faultless, charming and friendly....food is wonderful..and on both nights we had a table beside the lake....||the staff are what makes this hotel special....they stay for years ...the chef is there 10 years and the pastry chef 9 years so that is why this place is so special.. one particular member of staff who we would like to point out is Murphy in the bar area....she was an absolute joy, always remembered what wine we liked and had time to chat....please pass on our comments to her!.||The pool area is superb and the little bungalow where you can get food and drinks is fantastic..||the only thing I would suggest that the hotel do is put up signs asking for people to cover up whilst walking to and from the pool...you have to walk thru the outside dining area to get to the pool and some people think its appropriate to wear bikinis......I was really taken aback by this....||All in all, a superb stay and we will be back in August....thank you for a wonderful stay.

Rooms are ok, location is exquisite what brings it down is a service. Apart from a very pleasant and professional lady at check in any other encounter with staff was a bit troublesome. Waited for ages to get a drink first time I sat on the terrace. Second time I was completely ignored until I called waiter. On the checkout they wanted to charge dinner that I paid already evening before and when I told them that they came back with charge for breakfast that I did not have. I am sure all is honest mistake but overall my feeling was that it is a very nonchalant and unorganized team servicing much better hotel than they deserve to.

We were in a side/mountain-facing room on the top floor that was super spacious (two TVs and sitting areas, with room-long balcony) and comfortable. The bed was massive and comfortable, the bathroom clean and stylish, and the view from the seating on the balcony was sublime. The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was good quality and couldn’t be in a greater setting on the lake. Overall, the location is perfect, the hotel super comfortable and the treatment was top notch. Would love to stay again!

The room was kind of OK, not fantastic but not bad either. No kettle in the room, a real downside. No ventilation in the bathroom and a bit smelly. They closed down the pool when we came, a real bummer. The food was horrible. I do not know where to start. Badly cooked, no flavour, so seasoning, it takes for ever to be served. Do not eat there and the waiters are realy unfriendly. Not worth the money.

Just had a stunningly good 3-day work meeting at Le Cottage Bise. I only wish I'd stayed longer to make the most of this glorious venue! From start to end, the service was impeccable, and the food outstanding - to serve perfect steak to 67 people simultaneously was a remarkable feat, and the hotel team also catered very well for the group's various dietary issues at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's a shame I didn't have time to go swimming as the pool looked and felt very inviting (only had time to dip my hand in). My room was excellent, with a lovely view of the lake, and the bed was very comfortable; the bathroom included robes, slippers and very tasteful toiletries, and everywhere was extremely clean. The conference rooms were in an amazing 11th century priory a couple of minutes on foot from the main hotel and was perfect for our needs. Very highly recommended!

What an amazing immaculate place. My husband and I loved everything about Le Cottage. This is the kind of luxury that I love, it's subtle, unpretentious, and absolute perfection. And that view! So unique. Staff is so efficient yet friendly, breakfasts are sublime, dinner is a must. This place is a treasure. We were celebrating our anniversary and they remembered, often not the case in establishments these days. One of the best places we stayed in our 3 month tour of this part of France.

Upon arrival we weren’t able to find parking anywhere, but were greeted by a friendly young staff member who kindly parked our car for us. The lunch we had was exceptional, with delicious food and professional service. Overall, it was a stunning dining experience in a magnificent setting. We would definitely return as we absolutely loved it.
