Cottage Mews Motel

Was bliss to be able to relax and unwind after 6 days on the road different places different motels. Was wonderful to sleep in wake shower and head off not wake up shower and get ready for our next stage of racing or driving ex amount of km's to get to next stage.. However Cottage Mews is lovely clean and peaceful.. Thank your for the wonderful stay . Highly recommend

We had a spacious room with a jacuzzi bath. The room was spotless with all the facilities which you could need. The lake front is less than a minutes walk away. Check in was convenient with an email for the code to the lock box to get in. Highly recommended.

Our stay was sadly mediocre. Unfortunately, our suite was in poor shape: peeling wall paper, smelly air freshener, mildew/mold, and aged furniture. The heat pump was in bad condition and was smelly when running. On the positive, the kitchen is well appointed.

Stayed there on the 18th October 25.Beautifully clean and tge room was very nice,we had our little dog with us she’s blind and there was a lovely little courtyard off our room where she could wander around.A very cosy place.

A great dog friendly motel at a reasonable price situated close to the beach. Older rooms but clean and tidy. Certainly recommend.

I chose this property as a quick stopover on my drive to Auckland. I stayed in the larger apartment toward the back which may differ from the other rooms. The property is cute and well maintained on the outside. It's right and I mean RIGHT on the lake which is probably much of it's appeal. The staff was friendly, however their was a smell of pet urine in the lobby which didn't give the greatest first impression. The room itself was spacious and clean where it counts, however, it's dated and lacking upkeep which showed in the wallpaper, blinds, and rusting of light fixtures. At $200 NZD for the night it felt like a property I'd pay $60 USD for back home. I wouldn't say I had a bad experience, but didn't feel like it was a good value.

Fabulous stay. The rooms were immensely clean and well-kept. Being located near Lake Taupo, the location is also perfect for a quick stroll or to sunbathe when the weather's good. If you're into kayaking, kayaks are also available for rent. If I had to pick an issue with the accomodation, it would be that it's a little far from the centre and if you're not driving, Ubers can be pretty hard to find in Taupo. That said, the hotel reception is more than happy to assist you with finding a taxi!

Lovely spacious room with private courtyard. Large in room spa bath. Well equipped kitchen. Great pressured shower. Good access to lakefront. Lovely stay.
