This is a longer review than I normally leave, but it’s well deserved.
We stayed at Cotton Gin Village for two nights (Jan 30–31) to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary, and it was just about perfect.
We stayed in the Upper Frio Cottage, and the ambiance—inside and out—was wonderful. Cozy, quiet, and beautifully maintained. The large stone electric fireplace made the evenings especially relaxing, and the entire property has a calm, thoughtful feel that’s hard to find.
Breakfast was excellent—fresh, generous, and clearly made with care. We also really appreciated the granola and snacks left in the room, along with a gift bottle of wine labeled with our names and anniversary years. That personal touch meant a lot.
Right outside the cottage and just across the sidewalk is the Gin Mill Lounge, which is a great spot for a pre- or post-dinner cocktail, wine, or beer. Super convenient and a great atmosphere.
Dinner at the onsite Cabernet Grill was, as always, outstanding. It’s the best restaurant in town, in my opinion. We’ve been going there for our anniversary dinners for the past 10 years—it never disappoints.
The staff deserves special mention. Everyone we encountered—from check-in to housekeeping to checkout—was friendly, helpful, and professional. You really feel welcomed here.
We’re already looking forward to coming back next year. Cotton Gin Village is truly one of our favorite places we’ve traveled to, and it continues to set the bar for a relaxing, special getaway.
