Cotton Tree Service

I wish I could give Cotton Tree Service more than five stars. They have removed 5 trees from our property on two separate occasions. Four were over 30 feet tall. All the trees were removed carefully and professionally with heavy equipment and yet our lawn was not damaged. The hard working crew was very polite, professional and knowledgeable. The owner Tom was on site to operate the large crane and his skill was amazing to watch. There will be more tree removal in our future and Cotton Tree Service will be the only one we will call. I highly recommend them.

Dave Cotton and his team did such a fabulous job with an incredibly technical and challenging removal of a 150+ year old tree that was dangling over our home. They did their best to keep the majestic tree healthy and alive for many years—but our concerns around safety led to the need to take it down. Over the course of a few days, Dave and his team took on the job that most all others would shy away from. I was so impressed with their skills, reasonable pricing, and Dave’s genuine kindness and love for the art of what he does. He is a true icon in this space and the area is fortunate to have him. I’m also grateful for their desire to only remove trees that need to be taken down—recognizing their importance in our world. Additionally, high praise to Scott and Kim for their support and kindness throughout.

Removed some downed trees in the yard. Fair price, showed up in person to consult, got it done faster than scheduled, and left the area cleaned up with no lawn damage. Wish I found them sooner.

These guys showed up to work on my neighbor's tree and for some reason they drove a huge truck right onto my lawn to do it, totally tearing up the grass as they parked on my property. They completely destroyed the bulbs my wife had planted there, and nearly hit our rose bush. Only AFTER they saw me taking pictures of the damage did a guy run over and offer to "pound the dirt flat." So now instead of blooming bulbs in a healthy green lawn, we have a dead patch of dirt in the torn-up front yard. I would recommend literally ANY other tree service, unless maybe you hate your neighbor and want to unnecessarily destroy their yard.

Cotton Tree Services did some work for us this year on the side of the house. It’s absolutely beautiful the way it came out! They have sent the same man each year! Mr. Cotton and his team were fast, friendly and fun when I used their services to remove a tree that fell on my roof in a winter storm. Not only did they remove the tree, but they truly went above and beyond by patching my roof, shoveling the snow off of it and entertaining my five-year-old with their spectacular machinery and feats of daring. I cannot recommend this company highly enough, and will never use anyone else!

I have used cotton tree service for tree removal and a large bark mulch application. The tree removal was smooth and under budget. When finished it was like they were not even there. They charged over fifteen thousand dollars above their original quote for a nonprofit. Other companies approached the owner with less cost. He turned them away because he gave them his word that they had the job. They didn't even finish the job they agreed to do. This is disgusting, Taking advantage of the elderly And would not recommend them to anybody.

Absolutely Amazing Company! Dave Cotton is truly a nice guy and an expert in his craft! They came on a Sunday to look at a dangerous and dead ash tree. Even though his schedule is booked up, he decided to take care of that tree the same day. We're talking a monstrous ash tree that was a hazard to my family and my house. They dropped the tree with precision and into the stream and dragged it out. 5 other companies turned down this job. But not Dave! I cannot recommend them enough!

Jeremy and the crew showed up today to remove two big pine trees in a very precarious spot near telephone and electric wires. They completed the job in four hours cleaned up and we're gone very good job can't say enough about the service I would hire them again.

When a tree falls on your house you want someone like Dave Cotton and his crew to be there. They were super responsive and supportive through the whole traumatic process. Their expertise and dedication to excellent customer service is very much appreciated.

I can't recommend this crew more highly. I've worked with other tree companies in the area, and been satisfied with their work, but Dave's knowledge and expertise was on a whole different level. When he first looked up at our lightning-struck tree, he said, "Oh, looks as if that branch has been struck before, probably in the October 29 storm of 2012." (I'm probably remembering the date the wrong, but HE wasn't.) He came around back and gave some quick advice on our other trees -- action we should take in five years or so -- and offhandedly gave a helpful perspective on a small home renovation we'd been considering. And then he and his team took care of our original problem quickly and efficiently, with lots of friendly conversation along the way. I'd hire them any day of the week.

Exceptionally skilled, professional, and kind operation with a stunning level of expertise and pure New England character- the kind Frost wrote about and Rockwell painted down to a person from the folks in the office to Mr. Cotton himself whose father was a legend in this area. I stake my entire Yelp reputation on the claim that there is absolutely no better tree service in the area nor company in America. Perfect in an emergency- like a sappy Duracell commercial or for a routine clean-up. They love trees and people.

An incredible outfit. They did a magnificent job on a very complicated project at our home, result of a huge oak limb shearing off a 150 year old tree. Brought in the right equipment, emphasized safety, raked up the sawdust and cleaned the whole upper driveway and even the wooded area around the fallen branch. Extremely impressive workmanship and customer service. Would recommend them 110%.

I've used Cotton Tree service on a few occasions, most recently was for a huge oak in my parents yard. It was completely fenced in but they were able to use their crane over the house. I can't say enough good things about Dave and the entire team. The whole experience was perfection. From the kind woman I speak to on the phone, to Scott who usually you meet first for the estimate, to Dave the owner who is top notch and I have so much respect for. You just know you're dealing with professionals that are knowledgeable and do not cut corners. The whole crew was fantastic. It's the kind of experience you hope for when you hire a service but don't often get! Based on my multiple positive experiences I would not hire anyone else but Cotton!

Of all the estimates to remove a 2' diameter pine tree that was in a tricky place leaning over the house, Cotton removed it for considerably less than other local bids that proved to be questionably expensive. The team is very efficient and they did an impressive job of taking down the tree and removing it. Hindsight: my biggest regret is not asking them to remove a log that had fallen a few weeks ago not far from the tree they took down that probably would have taken them about 15-20 minutes to cut up and load in their truck, if that. Though I did email and ask for an estimate of how much it will cost to have them remove that log, there has been no response. For some reason, though a small issue, that is really a disappointment. I saved my pennies for a few years to have that tree removed. It was a big deal to finally see that project completed. It would not have taken much for them to have taken that log away. Also, though they put rubber mats down underneath their crane, it did leave large splotches of oil in the pavement driveway. Moral to the story; know exactly what you need from them before they finish the job. I really regret not asking Mr. Cotton immediately about removing that fallen log. Disappointing. Nevertheless, they do a really good job. Hope this helps.

I have used Cotton Tree Service in the past and was satisfied with the service. However, this year I had a large limb partially tear from a big tree after a storm. The limb was hanging off the tree going down to the ground. The crew that came appeared inexperienced and uncertain of how to address the damage. They decided to climb up a ladder and sever the limb with a pole saw where it was partially attached. This left a large, ragged trunk. The remaining stump will likely develop rot. I complained that they should have professionally cut the limb to leave a smooth surface to reduce the chance of future rot. Despite calling the company several times, the estimator declined to call me back to address my dissatisfaction. I will not use them in the future.

We needed to have a hundred-year-old, 100+ foot tall, 40,000 lb. black locust removed from our tiny backyard. Dave Cotton and his crew somehow got their big crane into position and got it done in a day and a half. They dug up some of our flowering plants to make room for the crane, laid down padding so our lawn wasn't wrecked, and when they were finished they replanted the flowers and watered them! When they left, you would never know they'd been there except for the remaining gigantic stump. Absolutely fantastic job.

I had 12+ trees removed, with stump grinding, chip removal, loam and seeding. Cotton Tree did a fantastic job. They used a crane to lift every tree to a cutting area so no limbs or trunks ever came down on the lawn itself. They were mindful of sprinkler head locations and very thorough in everything they did. All the workers were pleasant and professional. I would definitely use them again.
