Couch's Great House

Wow, we had what we called the best meal we have ever had last Friday. The most amazing meal. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. The Amouse Bouche was so full of flavour as was the dressed Crab and Roasted Scallops. The cod was very very good and the Hake was amazing with what I called the ring of flavour Salsa Verde.... the chocolate bonbon was my favourite of the dessert trio although all good. A very very nice bottle of Pinot washed it all down nicely. Couldn't recommend it enough.

We absolutely love this place. We've been returning customers now for nearly 7 years and try to travel up specially once a year. Fantastic food, great ambience and the staff are great. Richard is so down to earth and accomodating, Phil is a real asset, really making the customers welcome and you can't help but love his bubbly, happy character. And head chef Ricky does a fabulous job. We've never had a dish we haven't loved and have plenty of wonderful memories from our visits. Highly recommended.

A completely perfect dining and social experience. The customer service was second to none. The ambience was exactly right, from the intimate vibe, to the lighting and table layout, and very unexpectedly, the music. The songs were mostly well established popular songs, but performed in a totally different way to the originals, which in turn reflected Richard's culinary blend of traditional ingredients, with a creative interpretation, which just so worked! We had the most marvellous time, and the food was incredible. Thanks you!

Had an amazing meal here last night. Its a beautiful restaurant, welcoming, friendly, with amazing food and service. I really liked the range of the menu and the wine list has been thoughfully put together. I cannot recommend highly enough and I look forward to returning.

We had such a lovely evening, the staff where very attentative, funny and courteous made us feel at home. The food was exceptional. It was one of the best meals we have had, will be definitely be going back next year.

Fantastic food and great service. The presentation of the food was beautiful, the elements of each dish complimented each other very well and it was a well thought out menu. Both the owner and waiter were friendly and helpful and a great value add to the experience. Would strongly recommend. Only slight tweak would be an option for smaller portions as they were very generously sized.

Wonderful meal, and evening here. Very relaxed, quality ingredients and cooking. Fine dining, but you leave feeling have had a proper meal :) Will definitely come back , for the quality it is outstanding value for money compared to others in Cornwall. My husband and I had dinner here and it was so freaking good. Every course was top notch. Highly recommend a visit when in Polperro.
