Couch's Great House

My wife and I had a meal here as my birthday treat. I would say this is as perfect as it gets. The food is too die for, perfect in every way. I've put some photos below but they don't really do it justice. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are very attentive without being over powering. Richard the owner is a nice guy, very friendly and the waiter ( sorry I didn't get his name) is also very professional and friendly. We couldn't fault this Restaurant which is made all the more special as it is in the heart of Polperro village. But don't take my word for it, you must try it for yourself

If you are in Polperro, a visit to Couch's Great House is an absolute must! The food is absolutely incredible and the service is some of the best I've ever experienced. We ended up at Couch's by accident when our dinner plans fell through. It was already 9pm and understandably, most restaurants in Polperro had closed their kitchens. We stopped by Couch's just to ask if anything was still open. Despite being completely full, they insisted they would not let us go hungry and served us a beautiful meal of soups, cheeses, and even dessert! Everything was absolutely delicious and we felt so grateful to be served such a satisfying and tasty meal when we expected to not have anything to eat that night. Everyone working here was so kind, which only made it better. We hope to come back and sit down for a less impromptu dinner sometime!

Had an amazing meal here last night. Its a beautiful restaurant, welcoming, friendly, with amazing food and service. I really liked the range of the menu and the wine list has been thoughfully put together. I cannot recommend highly enough and I look forward to returning.

Fantastic food and great service. The presentation of the food was beautiful, the elements of each dish complimented each other very well and it was a well thought out menu. Both the owner and waiter were friendly and helpful and a great value add to the experience. Would strongly recommend. Only slight tweak would be an option for smaller portions as they were very generously sized.

Always a culinary treat and the reason we return to Polperro every year. The delightful Phil and wonderful Richard make you feel so very welcome and relaxed. The food is excellent, the surroundings are very tasteful and your table is yours for the whole evening, so make yourself at home and enjoy. Cannot fault it and always leave looking forward to our next visit.

Visited in October last year (this was our fourth visit). Food was again amazing and wine choices were excellent and very well priced. Richard is an excellent host and his team always delivers a great experience!

We had dinner at Couch's on Thursday. The food was fantastic - a fixed price four course menu with a delicious amuse bouche, perfectly cooked scallops, cured salmon and hake, and a trio of deserts. It was a quiet night for the restaurant but the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. A great place to eat in the heart of Polperro
