The 48 Best Things to Do in Paris

"Originally known as the Promenade Plantée, the Coulée Verte René-Dumont is an elevated park built atop a revitalized railway structure. Opened in the late 1980s, the lush garden path stretches for three miles, with landscapes ranging from modern and manicured to wild and natural. This greenway, which for many will recall New York City's High Line, provides an unusual panoramic view over the 12th arrondissement—and since this crosses through less-touristy neighborhoods, you'll get a sense of the real quotidian Paris." - Melissa Liebling-Goldberg, Julia Eskins

If you have the time, this is an amazing experience to see Paris neighborhoods from a different angle, beyond the amazing public transport and busy sidewalks. Think a designated bike path meets a more quaint highline in an elevated public green space

Very beautiful! Maybe about 1.5 miles long from start to finish? I visited around 3pm and it wasn't crowded at all. It's prly in my top 3 fave "parks" out of all the other ones I've been to in Paris (about 10 in total). Highly recommended on a sunny day esp

Lovely walk that inspired the NYC high line. Lots of golden foliage and tons of views on old Paris building facades. A few joggers and lots of walkers. Nice way to spend an hour relaxing always from the bustle of the city.

Stretching through the 12th arrondissement of Paris, the Coulée Verte René-Dumont (formerly known as the Promenade Plantée) is a unique elevated park that offers a serene escape from the city’s bustling streets. Starting near the Bastille and passing through the Daumesnil and Reuilly-Diderot areas, this lush greenway is a hidden gem perfect for walking and photography. Built on an old railway viaduct, the 4.7-kilometer-long path meanders through beautifully landscaped gardens, vine-covered arches, and peaceful shaded areas. Its elevation provides stunning views of Parisian rooftops and charming glimpses into everyday neighborhood life. The mix of wildflowers, manicured hedges, and modern design creates a harmonious setting that changes with the seasons, making it a delightful destination year-round. In the Daumesnil area, visitors can enjoy quiet pathways and elegant bridges, while the Reuilly-Diderot section boasts charming tunnels and tree-lined boulevards. Both areas are filled with opportunities to capture picturesque scenes, from vibrant blossoms to unique architectural perspectives. Whether you're a casual stroller, a fitness enthusiast, or a photography lover, the Coulée Verte René-Dumont offers a peaceful and inspiring experience. It’s a perfect way to see Paris from a new angle while immersing yourself in nature’s beauty.

One of the best park experiences in this city. Well cared for, quiet, narrow passage for walking and picnics, much of it above shops and restaurants (west end). Benches and views along the way, joins the more rustic Petite Ceinture belt walkway on the east end.

It reminds me of the high line in New York Almost 1.2 km walk enjoyable between green lush leaves. Hidden Gems away from tourists mainly frequented by locals. So enjoyable with an overdose of oxygen Beware of slippery areas due to rainfall
