We stumbled across this place on Google maps while we were in the area running errands. Best stumble ever! The salsa is the best I ever had, and I asked if they sell it, which they do. The menu is great, the portion sizes are huge, and we will be back again and again! I had the migas, which were great, and my son had a big breakfast platter where everything was cooked perfectly

Google
This place is so good I had to come back to find something wrong. I failed miserably. I ate here twice 2 different dishes same result. Great food great service and great atsmophere. What really got me was that no matter what table comes open they will seat you if you are next in line. These people want your business. The county fried steak rivals any I have had in my life. The beef enchiladas were great if not the best I have ever had. Check them out. It's worth the trip

Usually it’s a good experience if you can ignore and get around the rudeness and shortness of some of the employees. This place would be perfect if the friendliness went up and you if they made you feel more welcomed. Food is decent for the most part so you won’t mind the food. I just wish they were more friendly.

Google
This place was yummy, country cooking! I had Albondigas soup, hubby had an omelet and pancakes! This is a down-home Texas kind of place! So many great options on the menu!

Google
Good food and service, however this place needs to be better at being clean! Sure they wipe the tables in between clients but geez sweep the floor. I’m here eating and there’s trash all over floor the along with half a burger patty some kid threw on the floor and no one cares to it pick up? Not sure about coming back, I like the food but I don’t like to eat in trashy spaces. Not the first time I’ve seen this either, been here many times…

Google
The menudo is better than most. What a cute little dinner. Chips and hot sauce was fantastic. They use yellow corn tortillas. Love it

Google
Great place to eat. Breakfast was good. One of our party had the pot roast, a generous portion. We will be back. The only negative is that there were a couple of napkins in the service area on the floor that the staff could have easily swept up, but didn't seem to notice.

Google
They have togo boxes but you won't need them if you come hungry! Most tables around us were only empty plates as families left. Our food came out in 20 minutes piping hot and delicious. We ordered the country fried steak, pancakes, and chile reanos, churros, and coffee. All excellent! Highly reccomend churros for breakfast with coffee as a sweet treat, coffee was hot and fresh. My wife and I finished every bite.

Yelp
There was a variety of food choices including Mexican and American. Don't think you will go away hungry here. We went after church there was not a long wait. Two of us had breakfast and neither disappointed. One had the pot roast, she said it was delicious. It was a large portion. We had our coffee filled twice and drinks twice. Very efficient staff. The only negative I could give, was the area in the kitchen where the wait staff walked had a couple of napkins on the floor. They could have swept it up to keep up a clean appearance. We will return.

Yelp
Came in on a Wednesday for late breakfast, 11 am. Ordered the simple breakfast, (2 eggs over medium, 2 pancakes, 2 strip bacon and hashbrowns.) Eggs, hashbrowns and pancakes were hot. Bacon was obviously cooked HOURS ago with cold bacon grease caked on it. Pancake syrup was room temperature. Most places do this these days. I've never understood why serve breakfast with cold syrup. Overall Food was average except the bacon was terrible. Waitress was average as well but friendly. She did offer to top off my coffee twice. Coffee was nothing special. Some have said the place needs an update. I felt it was just fine for a place called Country Diner. I enjoyed it's cleanliness and simple charm. Price was CHEAP compared to other local breakfast places. I won't be back for breakfast but the aroma of their Mexican dishes makes me promise myself to come back and try some Mexican food for dinner some evening. I give it 3 stars for breakfast.

Yelp
When it comes to a restaurant like this it's all about expectations, right? This is essentially a greasy spoon ran by Mexicans. I'm from Mexico City, and I know real Mexican food, but breakfast is what I got at Country Diner Cafe. There was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the stuff we got. Service was quite nice, in Spanish, and that's awesome. I know some of the folks in the restaurant didn't speak Spanish, but some of the ladies working were speaking English too. Definitely the best part was the price. Hard to get a full sit-down meal for cheap nowadays, but they have it. And they serve it with pride and love. Good for them! I'll definitely come back and eat here time and again. Is it an amazing restaurant? No, but it's not trying to be that. It's trying to serve you honest food for honest prices with a smile. They do that very well!

Patty P.

Yelp
Food is delicious, service is good and prices are decent. I usually go for their pozole or breakfast, never been disappointed.

Yelp
We drove across two towns to eat here on Sunday. The restaurant states that they close at three on Sunday. We arrived almost 30 minutes before closing and they would not seat us even though there were many people at tables seated inside. If you're closing time is at three you should seat people until three. If you don't want to seat people after 2:30 PM, then you should state that your closing time is at 2:30 PM. It creates ill will for people who drive all the way over to you and be turned away.
google avatar

Shunte E.

Yelp
Walking in it was busy a there is very limited seating to wait. We stood by the wall until people were called to there table. The wait was not long at all maybe 10 minutes. It's small on the inside as if it was a fast food restaurant. Normally you receive complimentary chips and salsa but they ran out by time we got there. The prices for the food is reasonable and the food was great. You get good portions for the amount you ate spending. The only thing I did not like was them leaving trash in the middle of the walkway in front of the cash register. I understand they were closing however you still have guests. Either sweep an put it in the dust pan as you go along or wait until the customers have left.

Yelp
Food is great I will recommend this Restaurant to anyone the service excellent Prices that can be beat they are generous with the food
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
Avoid at all costs. Prices and pictures on menu are wrong. Don't expect anything other than Sysco crap thrown together and served by waitstaff who couldn't care less. Awful
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
This place is legit. Old school vibe, old school prices. Service can be a little slow but the food is worth it. Love coming here every time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick lunch with my CFO, aka wife, and had a great breakfast. The staff were so welcoming and prompt. I had the Huevos Rancheros and she had the Chilequiles. Both dishes were seasoned very well. The Ranchero sauce was delicious. She thought that the Chilequiles were too spicy, but that's the white girl in her, I thought they were just right, but that's the Mexican in me. Well definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Good portions, good prices, friendly service. My favorite meal is the sopes. I eat here often and enjoy it every time.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little diner. I've taken my friends there and my mother. They all enjoyed the food and understood the hype i give them. Friendly servers too

Danny B.

Yelp
Old school diner, absolutely fantastic food! I had the divorced eggs, and some of the best salsa I have found here in Texas. They are making the best out of the older building they are in, but the price on everything does not reflect the inflation we are all experiencing. 3 people for 36 bucks is a value in anyone's book! Make sure you get potatoes, sooo good!
google avatar

Melody T.

Yelp
Customer service is great. Mexican food is great. American food is ok. Menudo was great. Suggest sticking to the Mexican options for the yummiest choices. It's conveniently located and we will definitely frequent and try more menu items!
google avatar

Frank B.

Yelp
It was a great breakfast. Just a plain 2 egg breakfast with 4 sausage links and 2 pancakes. It was like six bucks out the door plus tip Everything was hot and tasted great I couldn't ask for more we'll be coming back
google avatar

Evelyn V.

Yelp
Service was quick, our coffees cups did not go empty and the people there were pleasant. Very yummy food! I ordered the Migas with toast, hubby ordered the steak omelette with pancakes and it was very good. The pancakes were more on the dry side, potatoes lacked seasoning, but other than that the food was delicious!

Briana B.

Yelp
I love this place and regularly eat here. Their menu is very well priced (for example a breakfast sandwich at jack in the box is $4-6 and this place has multiple full blown breakfast meals for around $6) I will say don't ever ever ever order flautas if you're a fan! I eat flautas all the time and this place has the worst!!!! Everything else I've eaten has been great tho so please check them out and make your own opinion

Brian G.

Yelp
Was in corpus for work and went for lunch and breakfast the following day. Very good down home comfort food and great prices.

Colleen T.

Yelp
Food, service and atmosphere were great. The size of the breakfast omelet meal was more than my husband could eat in one sitting & it was perfectly prepared. I got the crepes breakfast and it was perfect. The amount of food for the price was amazing! This meal would have cost twice as much at IHOP.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
Classic breakfast joint, favoring Mexican food. Busy, but quick service. Good coffee and pretty good breakfast. Two sauces served, red and green. Both tasty. My "Mesquite" scramble was full of veggies and eggs were fluffy and not dried out. Good stuff. Reasonable prices. Would definitely dine here again.

Yelp
Love this cute local spot, great food amazing staff. The owner is fabulous and I love how he's kept things consistent even through Covid impact.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Food is spectacular and the service is great. It is always busy, but they get you in fast.

Yelp
I really hate to put such a bad review on this place, especially given that in the past it has always been amazing food at an amazing price but this is an unforgivable mistake in any restaurant or establishment in the food industry. When I took the 2nd cup up to the register to point out the disgusting issues,, the ladies s who told me to my, "It's okay, we fix, it's ok" no it's not okay. When someone sends a plate or dish back because it has something fornicating disgusting like somebody else's lipstick, a booger, just plain bad food, even a rat turd! You change that out, whole new thing, you do not just dump it wipe it off or simply take it back and just tell the person okay we get you new one. 'You didn't get me a new cup of coffee, you brought me the exact same cup of coffee you just wiped it off with a table wrag and you missed the lipstick! It was the same cup, the same crack in the cup, same level of contents, that lipstick was in the exact same spot! This place to be turned into the health department and shut down until they go through there and clean everything. If they just told me we don't have any clean cups, we don't have any clean dishes, styrofoam okay, yeah we'll probably wind up taking some of it home with us anyway. My wife could see literally hundreds of Styrofoam cups stacked up but they could have brought me a cup of coffee in. No I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill on this, think about the times we are in with covid, nasty people with weird diseases, STDs, things like that that can be transmitted by bodily fluids. Again this place should be closed down by the health department and they go through there with a fine-tooth comb. Something is wrong at this restaurant!

Yelp
Food was decent and service was on point, this is a hidden jewel with great prices and def not small proportions but rather Texas size worthy. Will def be going back! Tea was also fresh and that's a BIG PLUS For ME! Will be taking others here and recommend to all

Yelp
We stopped in and weren't sure - read the reviews and went for the chilaquiles and the French toast. Great choices. Green chilaquiles were out of this world. The French toast had a creamy crispy taste.- it didn't even need syrup. So good. Coffee was good and great prices. Very busy and I see why. One star off because it's not very clean in the restroom.

Yelp
This is a great spot for breakfast/brunch! I love a tasty holeinthewall and this is that! They have a great mix of classic American and Mexican breakfast and all is yummy. I love how they toast their biscuits. Very affordable! Only complaints are the gravy doesn't have a lot of flavor and sometimes I feel like the eggs are over cooked, especially on their omelets.
google avatar

Brad U.

Yelp
Good food with modest prices. The cafe is frequently busy with people that work hard. Here they get filled up with a reasonably priced breakfast menu. The food comes out hot and quick. If it's raining the Resturant is usually even busier. The menu has some traditional American cuisine and rest of the menu leans more Tex-Mex. Someone from our party always has quite a bit of leftovers when coming for lunch or dinner. You will not find a better dining bargain.

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Great service! Delicious food, chilaquiles are to die for Spicy but really good. Highly recommended. Busy but got our food fast, definitely coming back and highly recommended

Yelp
Well I'll be ... I thought I'd reviewed the Country Diner Cafe in Garland. Better late than never, as the saying goes. Let me start with; Maybe a 4 star? I wobble on this one. Let me explain; a 3 is an OK restaurant in my way of looking at things. I will return to a 3 and in this case I know I'll consider it for breakfast in the future. Everything we've ordered has been good and they have a salsa that I think is really, really tasty. I've had better Huevos Rancheros. What I got was good-good enough that I don't feel the need to drive down to El Patio, in Presidio, Texas, to get the best I've ever had. (insert smiley face thingy here --- :)). I'll give you an example; I'm used to a corn tortilla under the eggs with the salsa covering the eggs. I couldn't find that tortilla anywhere. It isn't a huge problem and the meal was tasty on its own. Country Diner Café serves in the classic café style. The place is neat and clean. The wait staff is prompt. I did have to send my meal back as I ordered grits instead of refried beans as I'm on a keto diet and beans are a no-no. It was done graciously and quickly. Mistakes happen. ** side note ** this was the second time eating there and I ordered the Machacas, not the Huevos shown in the attached picture. Tish loved the steak omelet and I have sworn I'll go back to give it a try. Tish is not easily impressed. I loves me some good steak omelets. Wrap up - a nice cafe that is clean, priced right, and tasty salsa with chips (do love the chips). Go ahead and give it a try. Let me know what you think.

Yelp
Hole in the wall - great service, great food, decent prices! Can't go wrong with a torta, largest I've ever seen. It can feed 2 people!

Yelp
To be honest I was a bit skeptical about going in upon arriving in the parking lot. However my niece highly recommended I give this place a try. That being said it does have the old country feel inside but the food is definitely authentic mexican! They bring you pork rinds aka chicharrones y chips with both green and red salsa. The chicharrones and green salsa are DELICIOUS! Then we ordered menudo and tbh I haven't had menudo this good since my mom used to make it. The menudo here was real close to tasting like my moms which says a lot! Next is the tortillas... I can't say that I've had tortillas this good again since my mommas. The tortillas de harina are a must. Lastly, the only bad thing I have to say is that the coffee was ok but again it's hard to find a good cup of coffee so I gave them a full five stars because the coffee wasn't bad it was the same as any other place.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
The staff was very nice. We went during the evening and it was almost empty. I ordered French toast and scrambled eggs with cheese - both came out lukewarm and the eggs were dry and crumbly, the toast tasted like microwaved leftovers. My dining partner got pork chops that were FILLED with bone shards - perhaps they butchered it at the restaurant? If not - they need a better butcher. We read good things and wanted to try a small restaurant and give them a chance. The prices were fantastic. But the food just wasn't good - and they weren't busy at all. The only other table there while we were there ordered some huge Tortas that looked amazing- so perhaps those are the items they do better with. I don't write this to trash them - just to give them a chance to try harder. Scrambled eggs and French toast should be easy to get right - at least up to Denny's or iHOP level quality would be an improvement. And serving food hot (especially when not busy) is a minimum level of service expected.

Yelp
we went for Father's day for the first time and it was a pretty quick wait time, which we appreciated and the service from both the hostess and server was great. The food though was not the greatest, and we didn't order anything wild just eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. On top of that, one of the little creamer packets was expired and chunky, which had me questioning the quality of their ingredients.

Anna R.

Yelp
As good as it once was unfortunately I will not be returning. I had a second encounter with a hair in the food. Not returning.

Emily H.

Yelp
I'm from West Texas, and this is one of the closest things I've tasted to home. The service was great! We went on a Sunday, and everyone from the churches had that place PACKED!! The morning coffee was amazing! It tasted like those good ol home style cafes that all the elders meet at! Everyone was so sweet! I highly recommend!!!

Gilberto L.

Yelp
This place is a jem though and though few now about it but those who know know . Service is on point and the food never disappoints

Christine B.

Yelp
Their food is amazing I've tried several plates and none of them disappointed. Their staff is friendly and go above and beyond. They are local and parking is easy.

Yelp
Love this place. Great mix of classic diner food and delicious Mexican food. Huevos rancheros are excellent and I also enjoy the biscuits gravy and sausage. Good food, very reasonably priced.

Yelp
Food was delicious ! Came during rush hour got sat down in 10 minutes and my food was served quick. Service was friendly and made sure I had everything I needed

Yelp
Rarely does Yelp get something Wrong however this is one of those times. My experience was nowhere close to four-star or three stars! truth be told it was probably actually closer to a one star. The food to myself and the people I was with her was mediocre at best.
google avatar

Daniel Y.

Yelp
Hey guys good morning. I'm making this review for all breakfast lovers lol you can stop by and get your quality good meals. Don't stress to thank me after visiting them! You'll surely like it!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
It look like it was a good place to get Ribs. We ordered the chips and queso. The queso was good but the chips were hard the Ribs old and dry they try though that by drowning them in BBQ they will be ok. They try to give me a hard dry old baked potato I send it Really who is the kitchen Manager that let food like that come out of the kitchen. The Margaritas and the mashed potatoes were the only good thing in the restaurant. Oh a a really nice waitress. She kept apologizing for their food.

L C W.

Yelp
Best breakfast deal around. Great food. Service is always the best, plus a lot of smiles. Happy place.

J C.

Yelp
Food was decent. Good portions but noting to write home about. There is a lot of competion in dfw but I would give them Another try. Maybe I didn't get the right thing. I had 3 tacos de fajita and rice and beans. Staff was courteous and place was clean.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Meh food. Slow and inattentive service. Been there three times. Always the same. Never again. Not worth the trip.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
I think this a great restaurant, good staff and great food for cheap prices. Yes they have bad days like any other restaurant but overall 9/10 service

Raul M.

Yelp
I was tremendously surprised buy this restaurant. Came in not expecting much but through all the family's meals we left happy. Everyone was satisfied!

Esme P.

Yelp
This was my first visit. Came Sunday after church with group of 24. Waitresses were accommodating & helpful. The chips were thick & crispy. The salsa was decent. The tortillas and gorditas can use a little more oil or lard. The machacado was not great - needs more meat & dash of salt. Churros were yummy!!! Overall, I'd come back again.
