I first came to Country Life - a food court style veggie place - in 2008, when - as far as I know - it was the only vegetarian option in town. Me and my wife were kind of tired of all the meat and just wanted to explore other options. This was mentioned in our guide book, and it was tucked into a corner right near the old square. We found it tasty and refreshing then, and it's not changed much since.
A couple of days ago, I decided to go full vegetarian. I could probably have timed it better as Prague still doesn't quite "get" vegetarians. If you don't go to a dedicated vegetarian place, your options are mostly "something with cheese all over it" and people are not aware of calf rennet, so you have to assume that if it's got cheese, it ain't truly vegetarian.
SO! Nice to come to Country Life! Where all the options are vegetarian, and quite a few are vegan! You get a tray and some plates and start loading up, anything from beetroot chunks to buckwheat roast via tofu casseroles and veggie pizzas. Most things are simply weighed at the till and off you pop to s table to eat it all. It couldn't be much simpler, though it's sometimes a bit difficult to know exactly what you're eating.
They have a good variety of food, and even if you take small portions, you'd be hard pressed to try everything in one sitting, unless you're insanely hungry.
The food court style isn't for everyone, and it's not an inviting place to sit for a long time and enjoy yourself, but for a quick lunch it's tasty, reasonable and fully vegetarian!
