Country Style Donuts

This is one of those places if you know you know! I am sure I have done a reviewer before but they are some of the best donuts I've ever had! The people are always nice and ready to help. The donuts are delicious soft and fluffy. The atmosphere is a nostalgic vibe that is worth your time.

Absolutely incredible local donut spot. I had business in the area and drove by the location on Williamsburg Rd a few times. I finally stopped in one morning and was absolutely blown away. I got an old fashioned donut (because I grew up eating them in the Midwest) it was great, huge, and full of flavor. It has the signature crispy cracks on the top and was outstanding. I also tried a blueberry filled donut and it was delicious as well. Light fluffy, full of flavor. I also got my PERSONAL favorite donut an apple fritter. It was bigger than my own hand. It must have weighed close to a pound. It has all the right flavors and layers that a great apple fritter has. The inside was soft and fluffy and filled with this apple cinnamon mixture.

We stopped by on our way, heading out of town (back to SC) based on how early they opened. Everything after that was a pleasant surprise. The donuts are made fresh in-house, delicious, and very generous in size. The price was the biggest surprise of all. We make it a habit to find and support a local donut or pastry shop whenever we visit another city. We have had our fair share of niche or artisanal donuts that would break the bank. The Country Style Donuts prices had us doing a double-take to make sure we had actually paid for everything that we ordered. Let's recap: 1. Fresh 2. Homemade 3. Delicious 4. Huge 5. VERY VERY reasonably priced.

I was led here by reviews for blueberry donuts in particular, but I was disappointed to find that my blueberry donut was pretty dry, although the flavor itself was good. I appreciated the variety of their other donuts such as the apple crumb and toasted coconut. The apple crumb donut was very good. If you’re nearby and need a donut, this is a good option. However, it is not worth going out of your way for like I did.

Country Style has been my family’s go to donut spot since we first moved here 20 years ago. We still pick up a box for every birthday and it’s always a huge hit!

Update: after coming back and trying more items I'm definitely putting a 5 star....that apple crumble donut is EVERYTHING! Needed something sweet after dinner and searched a shop and this lovely small donut shop popped up. The customer service is great and there's plenty of donut options to pick from. I tried a couple donut holes and a powdered donut. Meh, wasn't the best, but not the worst I've had. I expected better due to the great reviews. I'll go back just to try a couple more items and update my review after that. For the donuts themselves I give a ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

This is my favorite donut shop and in my opinion the best donuts in Richmond AND Virginia! I love stopping in to get 2 dozen donuts for my office coworkers. They have other pastries which are also amazing! Other than the donuts my other favorite is the Giant Cinnamon Roll.

Best donuts around! We look forward to stopping in whenever we are in the area. Pumpkin donuts were delicious! My family loves the lemon filled best. Generous size donuts with a lot of filling. Many great flavor choices. If you want a good old fashioned style delicious donut this is the only place to go. They hustle behind the counter! Wish we had one closer to Williamsburg!

Some of the best donuts around and they have an amazing selection of fresh baked donuts so glad they are only about 10 minutes away from my house. Always stop by when I am near by to bro g home some treats for the fam.

The Good: Delicious donuts! They are HUGE and always soft and fresh. The staff is always kind and fast. The Bad: They sell out of donuts pretty quickly it seems. This most recent time I went at 4pm on a Sunday and all of the donut holes and many flavors were sold out. The Honest: Despite having low inventory sometimes, I will still always swing by Country Style whenever I'm in town. These are the best donuts you're gonna find in Richmond, hands down.

Sweet baby rays! I moved out of Virginia 3 years ago, but I always make sure to stop by Country Style for some donuts to take back home to NC when I'm in town up there. I swear these donuts will change your life! Krispy Kreme who?! Dunkin Donuts?! Nah. Country Style is the best. AND, they're open 24 hours at the original location. They have all different styles and flavors of donuts, but the best??? Well, that's the giant glazed twisty donut they have. ITS A BEAST. I love this place. You will too!!!

The quality of product is absolutely above anything else available in the area. The staff is so friendly and willing to help you decide what decadent treat might work for you. The ambiance reminds me of my great grandmothers house who use to bake all day long. The different smells definitely takes me back 60 years.

What I think is most special about Country Style Donuts is the nostalgia. Upon visiting last week we spoke with who I believe was the manager who gave us a brief history of the building. This location has been in operation since 1968 and still has the old counter in place. This location is also open until 12am for those wanting a late night treat or place to stop by if you're not ready to end your date just yet. There is a wide variety of both cake and yeasted donuts as well as a basic coffee selection.

Something about this donut shops gives me major home town vibes, even though I didn't grow up in Richmond. The feeling of instant nostalgia when you walk in is like no other. There is a huge assortment of donuts on the wall and other pastries in the case. I chose an assortment of six donuts but had a hard time picking which ones I wanted. The glazed Bavarian cream was the winner of the bunch. The donuts were soft, not greasy and had a good amount of filling! Their giant pastries were tempting but I will have to try one on my next visit. Would highly recommend this little donut shop!

Friday 3/22/2024 Quick and friendly service. I got an apple fritter $5, Apple turnover $5, Apple crumb donut $2.19, and a glazed donut $2.19. - Apple fritter * a huge pastry that has apple filling in some parts of the pastry and it was pretty good. - Apple turnover * another huge & tasty pastry that is FILLED with apple filling through the entire pastry and covered with white icing on the top. - Apple crumb donut * an apple filling filled donut with powdered sugar on the top and it was pretty decent. - Glazed donut * a pretty standard glazed donut that was decent. Overall, this donut spot sells massive & tasty donuts and they are open pretty late (close at 12 am). This is a spot that I would recommend and return to.

I was visiting from out of town. I heard how amazing these donuts are. The coconut donut is the best donut I have had in my life. This is a must go place.

There is not a day that goes by I don't want a Country's donut.. My old coworker used to mention this place a lot since he knew I was a donut fan and I had to make my way here. It's been years now and when i'm on this side of town I immediately stop and grab me at least 2-4 donuts. My favorite is the old fashioned then the glaze. I also love the double chocolate one I tend to keep it basic when it comes to Sugar foods lol . The service is always quick and the workers are always genuine. I'd highly recommend anyone I bring a donut to or referred here has always been fulfilled.

The way donuts should be! Best described as an old fashioned donut shop. As soon as you walk into Country Style Donuts, not only are you greeted by friendly staff but, also by the wall and case of a large variety of specialty and traditional donuts. Raised donuts, cake donuts, beer claws, coffee rolls, frosted, I frosted, etc.. I've been going to this donut shop for years although not as frequently as I used to due to the distance I live from the shop. Any time I'm going into Richmond or dropping someone off at the airport, I make it a point to stop by and grab a donut. The donuts are always fresh and delicious. The only downside is side is if you get there too late, they might be out of your favorite.

Before I go into this let me start by saying I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!! My daughter and I just landed at the Richmond International Airport, got our rental car and headed for our hotel. We wanted some donuts so I pulled up my trusty app (thanks Yelp) and found Country Style Donuts. Walked in and was totally wowed! The donuts were/are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and the service provided was beyond exceptional. Do your self a favor and swing by. You won't regret your decision. *thanks for everything Mrs Sue!

I am very thankful Country style donuts open at 5am!! I was greeted with the most professional service! My order was made quickly and accurately. The prices are standard donut shop prices (might be a few dollars more than Dunkin') The donuts are fresh and tasty and there is a nice variety to choose from .

Amazing doughnuts along with a phenomenal family friendly customer service. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a good sweet treat. Great ambiance.

I love Country Style- these are honestly some of the best donuts I've had in my life, and I have had many! My go-to is the classic buttermilk donut but they do have a large variety here. Fun and friendly place, great place to grab a coffee and donut and sit at the old-school bar with the locals. I go by here regularly to get boxes of donuts for the office and everyone always freaks out when they see the box! :)

Do not be deterred by the outdated storefront and interior. These doughnuts are so much better than the commercial chains. They have the best and freshest custard ones. The most gigantic coffee rolls, apple fritters, twists and eclairs I've seen. It's too bad there aren't more locations. This one is not far from the airport.

The service always great but donut taste is 5. I love those donuts. Old fashion donuts and vanilla crème ones too. Always fresh and tastes delicious. Great hours for service and you can't go wrong with those donuts no doubts.

I have absolutely ADOREDCountry style donuts since I was a kid!We would always take trips in the middle of the night to get donuts and see the same familiar old couple serving us donuts for years!The service is great and they always make you feel like family!The atmosphere feels like you're in your grandmas house and she's cooking from scratch and punching your cheeks!You feel right at home as soon as you walk in!Theres never any long lines and the donuts are always amazing and fresh!

Went by for the first time on Thursday. If it wasn't an hour from my house I'd be there every day. The doughnuts are AMAZING! And the service was great.

Great service and you guessed it.. best donut you will ever eat. Soft, warm and delicious donuts. A must if you are in the Richmond Airport area. There is a seating area inside and the place is pretty quiet. I can't wait for my next trip to the airport just to make a stop here!

I have been here before and thought they had the best donuts I had ever tasted but when I visited this week , I was hugely disappointe! they donuts that I got were very stale and the worst I've ever had! What happened!!? I was very dissatisfied and will not return.

Not cool to close at 8:45 on a Saturday night when it's supposed to be open until midnight. The guy inside was just laughing at while I tried to open the doors. You lost my business, pal.

OMG I've driven by this place but have never stopped in. Boy oh boy have I been missing out on something great. Had lunch here on a Tuesday because I wanted something sweet and a little coffee. Everything looked so good it was had to decide what to get. Loved the strawberry glazed with sprinkles. The powdered jelly was a little crisp which was great. And the Apple crum tasted like Apple pie. I was here for about an hour and there were people coming in and out the entire time. There was one woman working but the line went nice and quick. Inside there are tables to sit at as well as a counter with a few stools. The place looks a little run down but they were some of the best donuts I've had. They have an Apple fritter and Coffee roll that are no joke as big as your head. I don't know if you could eat them without a knife and a fork. The hours have changed according to the sign on the door. Looks like they are open to midnight most nights.

Stopped in recently for a dozen. Overall, the donuts were pretty good, but nothing out of this world/extraordinary (only loved one flavor). Got a dozen and would rate them as follows: Apple crumb - the best!!! . Buttermilk - solid, straightforward donut. Basically just a glazed option. Peanut - good, but a little weird? Get this if you love peanuts. . . . Toasted coconut - fell apart. Pumpkin spice - was hoping this would be more pumpkin, but it's just a spiced donut. Raised chocolate - too sweet. Would I go again if I were nearby? Sure. Is it worth a trip out of my way to get them? Probably not.

[Coronavirus review] This shop was eminently convenient, with parking you could just drive straight into and out of off of the main road and 24 hours of the day during which you could do it. I found the selection dizzying, and ordered a half dozen to share. The "raised" were the most impressive. The maple topping is of course delicious, but the dough itself was as fluffy and flavorful as any donut I can recall having. It's not a special diet place; the best I could figure out online is that they probably have egg-based dough. But the taste is there.

These are good quality donuts at such reasonable prices! The apple fritters are HUGE. They have a ton of flavors to choose from, some of which are more flavorful than others, but all of them are satisfying. I will continue to stop here when in Richmond.

Its not the prettiest place, but the donuts were good ( better than Dunkin' Donuts) and they had some ridiculously sized cinnamon rolls. I got a glazed and a jelly donut. Not bad at all

Y'alllll! If you have a sweet tooth and a big craving- this is the spot! Open 24 hours with the exception of Mondays (closed). Old looking building with a counter and some booths! Locals sitting and enjoying coffee and the goods! Sweet ladies who work there, help you with your order and serve up deliciousness! 38 varieties...and don't forget the $4 pastries literally the size of your head! I have never seen things so large in my entire life! We got a 1/2 dozen and they were all amazing. The cinnamon remind me of "fried cakes" which you can get in the fall back home where I'm from in Western NY. We were in town and saw this via Yelp and so glad we did! It will not disappoint, and you'll enjoy for sure!

So glad to have found this little specialty donut spot. I am not sure what country style is, but must include soft, fresh, and delicious. They have a colored dot system so you know which donuts have fillings and which are cake. The old fashioned and the glazed old fashioned (called buttermilk) are ridiculous. They have a crazy moist inside with a light crunchy exterior on the edges. The donuts aren't perfect circles or ovals, and the misshapen little pillows of amazing add to the charm. I know I get in places like this and go for all the fancy and special donuts. Make sure you add a couple regular glazed donuts to your dozen. Sometimes the classics are the best. It is hard to tell from the pictures but the pastries in the front counter are massive. The coffee rolls are as big as my head, literally, and I have a pretty big head. Literally and figuratively. The glazed twist is the size of a child's arm. Ridiculous gluttony and I am here for it! While we waited for them to make a fresh pot of coffee for us, high mountain arabica, there was a steady stream of customers with about 3 to 4 parties waiting consistently. Still, they get through serving people fast and friendly. A smaller point that I really like is the dozen boxes are also oversized. So nice when you get a donut later and everything isn't smashed and stuck together. The place is great. If you live in Richmond, or are passing through, make it a point to get here.

This place has been here for as long as I can remember. It had been years since I have been here. There are a lot of great memories going here and getting donuts with my late sister. The cinnamon crullers are always our favorite. They do not disappoint!

My wife and I just returned home with a half dozen donuts we bought at Country Style Donuts East; and, the vanilla cream with chocolate icing was as delicious as ever! Donut is my favorite; and, it is always wonderful. When my wife told me the tray was almost full, I knew I was in for a treat; because, that indicated to me they had just put them out. We have been going there for almost 4 years now; and, anticipate enjoying their delicious donuts for many more!

There are tons of options and the service is great. I love that they're open 24/6. When I visited, there were no vanilla sprinkled donuts and they insisted on making me one! They also have massive fritters, turnovers, and coffee rolls to share with the family.
