Great place, friendly staff. Quick service (it was bbq should be quick). Great food from Joe's BBQ. I thought I would go easy and only get a half slab. Boy this was enough. Huge ribs and a huge portion. The hot bbq sauce was definitely hot. It was best mixing it with the regular. Huge portion of fries. Highly recommend.

*Please see attached video* Aside from being walking distance to many places I’m not sure I’d recommend this to anyone. We arrives and the hosts looked less than enthused to end their convo and give us attention to seat us. After being sat we waited about 10 minutes before even getting drinks ordered or seeing our server. There were maybe 4-5 other tables sat at this point. Once we ordered the food came out speedy fast so I will say high regards for that! However, the cold brisket, and the rock hard corn bread - you’d have better luck breaking a window with this sorry piece of gluten and waste of calories than you would eating it. When explaining to the server he seemed clueless, and being a server myself I just pointed out that I’d talk to the kitchen to ensure they don’t continue to serve them. He looked dumbfounded and I literally tapped the rock hard cornbread muffin onto the counter - see video - to which he still just nodded and then left. Very VERY mediocre. Looks good, tastes bland. I’d avoid. Pricy.

Google
This is a good location and restaurant if you are looking for basic bbq. The food is coming out quickly, and offers a basic bbq experience. There is definitely room to move this up. My food was warm and tasted ok. The Kansas City flavor profile that I was expecting, was definitely not there. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The location is great, in walking distance to most of the major hotels in downtown, and right next to KC Live. My score is 4.1.

Google
A nice Bar b q place. Good service with friendly staff Can get loud as it fills up Main entrance has a lot of steps. There might be a side entrance, but I didn't see it. Getting in was hard. Food was good. Friends had rhe burnt ends that were tasty I had the sausage and brisket. Both taste good. The food came out quick. Some of my sausage was not very warm. Good sauce. Fries were plentiful and taste good but nothing special.

Google
Loaded Mac and cheese was amazing!!!! Everyone in my party loved our food. Waitress was attentive and personable! Highly recommend this place for Kansas BBQ!

Google
I was walking past this place when the smell of bbq stopped me in my tracks. I turned and saw the front door with the menu posted and took a look. The offerings were typical bbq, and I was hungry. I ordered the brisket plate with coleslaw. When it arrived, it looked smaller than I expected, but there was enough to leave me filled and satisfied. The meat was tender and had a good smoky taste. The coleslaw had a little kick to it, but it was good. The prices were reasonable, and the service was prompt and friendly. This is a place that I would recommend for trying some Kansas City bbq. Check them out if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Our bartender was very friendly and we enjoyed her service very much! The food was okay! The tacos were good, nothing over the top exceptional as far as taste goes. They were a little dry. Hower, the prices are out of this world!! Luckily we got here during happy hour and it was $7 instead of the regular price on some drinks. I suppose it’s all about the location of where you’re eating but dang!! We probably won’t be back based on the prices alone. Everything else was what you’d expect!

Google
I had the Ribs and One meat, sliced brisket, with the spicy Cole slaw side. The ribs were solid- lots of meat on each, tender, very good flavor without needing to be drowned in sauce. The brisket was good too. Sliced thin with a little sauce, had plenty of flavor. The Cole slaw was above average as well. I was still a little hungry so I ordered a side of Mac and cheese. Fantastic. Worth going back just for that. And the staff kept my sweet tea full the whole time. Well worth the trip, and I’ll certainly be back.

Yelp
The beers are very good. Spacechaser is a good one. KC BBQ is decent, nothing to rave about. Lots of TV's and spacious seating. I watched 3 different MLB games going on. Huge plus!!! Service was also good. Great place to chill and watch a game.

Yelp
Food was OK. Ribs were better than anything else I tried. The fires were good though. Our waiter was very good, and the restaurant was modern and open. The amount of BBQ we paid for wasn't on par with other places I've tried in KC.

John C.

Yelp
Went there and ate some barbecue. The brisket came out gray. It was tender, but it wasn't KC barbecue by any means. My wife got a two meat platter as well and neither one of us were impressed. I do not believe we'll be back. They were busy, but service was very slow. We waited between 10 to 15 minutes before our server ever even came to our table. If you like mediocre barbecue, this is the place for you. If not, I wouldn't suggest it.

Yelp
If you can't make it to the OG Joe's for KC BBQ this is the next best choice in P&L district. I was skeptical that it would be as good but quickly proven wrong. The Smokey Joe BBQ sandwich was incredible, I was truly shocked how much meat was packed inside the bun. The brisket and pork mixture is A+++! They also have a handful of different BBQ sauce options you can try on the side- I liked the spicy. Our waitress was so kind and helpful to everyone in and around our section. I overheard her giving multiple recommendations and accommodations to the surrounding patrons.
google avatar

Tamia L.

Yelp
Looking for a good chicken sandwich.. well try here! Onion rings with chipotle sauce = winner Fried chicken sandwich with fries= double winner Smoked chicken nachos ( instead of brisket) = double winner Plus our drinks Black berry and Frozrn mule.. both good just the blackberry is pretty sweet!
google avatar

Susanne M.

Yelp
The food is great - no doubt! Brisket so tender - wow! They have a great BBQ sauce (I like KC masterpiece style) plus Mac & cheese was YUMMY! The downfall is that there was not much food. Probably 1/4 lb of brisket (maybe less) 1 side $18. But Beer was cold! The atmosphere is loud - very party meets sports bar. It was a Saturday night at Xmas so it was very crowded, so it might not be like that normally. The hostess was so nice but waitress was just ok. She didn't look at us, greet or smile - just a lump. No refills or return visit to check - she saved us money, I guess.

Yelp
I came here for dinner while in town for a conference. It was not busy on a Wednesday night. The server was friendly and helpful. I started with the frozen rose drink which outside of a brain freeze, was yummy! I order the two meat meal with brisket and burnt ends. I am not a fan of the thinly sliced brisket as it seemed more like roast beef with bbq sauce. The burnt ends were not as crispy as I would have preferred. I had the fries as a side. They gave me a huge portion but they were just okay. They are seasoned.
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
We thought this was the original joes because I don't pay attention and get to excited the food here was better than alot of places we visited in Kansas City. They have the best burnt ends here sadly all the food was lukewarm I wish it was hot ! But the taste was so good. We had an amazing waiter Sam I would absolutely ask for him if you ever come. He offered us two different types of Bbq sauce and I was obsessed with the spicy one but the original was amazing as well. It was sweet but not too sweet literally perfect. They have great options for beer and it comes in a variety of sizes as well. The ribs were delicious falling off the bone and the brisket was omggg sliced thinly no sauce needed full of perfection. I didn't love the pulled pork it was a bit dry and needed to be smothered in sauce. I loved their pickles as well.
google avatar

Ellie B.

Yelp
Decent food. Our server was very nice but they sat a large table right before us so the service was relatively slow. I thought the food was overpriced and not all that great. We had a pulled pork sandwich with fries and nachos. Touristy restaurant in the Power and Lights District. Would definitely try a different restaurant when we visit KC again!
google avatar

Victor F.

Yelp
Great bbq. Good service. No rush. Great smells. Easy to get to from AC Hotel Downtown.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Nice location in Power & Light and option to get Joe's BBQ on a Sunday when Joe's is closed. Airy, lots of seating. As for the bbq, the ribs were good (surprised they weren't better?), but the burnt ends were quite tasty. Of course it may have been that they had a decent amount of fat which of course makes it taste even better. Both the regular and spicy bbq sauce were very good. Solid choice, though there are some better options in KC.

Yelp
Ambiance and service were good. But the food was lacking a lot. Nearly no meat on the brisket nachos, but they did add a lot of beans instead. To expensive for about 2 ounces of tiny cubed brisket pieces. Not cool. Corn bread was dry if you like it like that. Brisket tacos were also lacking. I think they might get their brisket out of a bag. Nothing like the photos. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Location: Power and light Kansas City. Ambiance: sports bar. Outdoor and indoor service. Food: it was ok. Ribs were delicious. Fries were too spiced the serve was too small. Chicken wings ok. Service: it was ok. However we went also looking for a place to watch a soccer game. They were showing it on ESPN. When I asked to put it on one of the tvs, she told me that they didnt have the soccer channels, without even asking which game. I didnt say anything but that didnt make sense to me.
google avatar

Kriti S.

Yelp
Ambiance was great, very country. I've never seen more cowboy boots in my life. Our server was friendly and attentive. As for the food, I loved the mac and cheese especially with the spicy BBQ sauce. The corn was just okay, I wished it had more seasoning.

Yelp
While I was in Kansas City, I was determined to try all the best BBQ spots. Everyone said KC Joe's was the place to go, but it was a bit out of the way for me, so I came here instead. It's nice that it's located downtown and there's plenty of seating, which sounded more appealing to me than the gas station at KC Joe's... although that has to be an interesting vibe for sure. I sat at the bar and the service was great! This would be a great spot if you're already downtown for an event and want to grab some food or a drink. In terms of the BBQ, I didn't think it quite lived up to the hype. I wonder if it's a bit better cooked at the original location. I had the Pulled Pork and the Joe's KC Sausage, both of which were tasty, but nothing out of this world, if you ask me. If I'm ever in town again, I'd try out the real deal.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! This was a bummer...in town with my sales team, decided to drop it on CR Ice House as it looked lively & cool...immediately met with "you can't sit here" with perhaps the absolute rudest server ever... We responded..."well based upon the fact that all these table are open and we have a party of 9 paying customers, can we sit down?" Nope...so we left. Wasn't that we couldn't sit...it was the attitude. Blah. Looked like a cool place, disappointing the server was so rude!!
google avatar

Korey W.

Yelp
This is a phenomenal place to eat ribs. Believe it's the same thing as Joes BBQ, just in a different location under different name. The sign said BbQ by joes. Anyways, it was awesome and I can't wait to go back again. The two sides were great as well.
google avatar

Yelp
You can't go wrong with BBQ in KC. The food was good and this was the perfect spot downtown we could walk to. The only problem we had was when we walked in the entire place smelled like sewage. It was very off putting and I'm not sure if it was an off day but it smelt bad. We sat on the opposite side of the restaurant as the smell which seemed to help. My friend I went with is also gluten sensitive and they didn't have enough options for her. Overall, service was fine and I'd like to give it another shot to see if the smell is what was so off putting to me.
google avatar

Yelp
You guys! We came here before the Pink concert. We ended up scoring a corner spot at the bar and ordered drinks within 10 minutes of being there. A wait for a table was 45+ mins. The bartenders were super quick and made wonderful suggestions for food. We got our food in less than 5 minutes and were completely satisfied. Two of us got brisket, 1 of us got burnt ends, and 1 of us got brisket mac n cheese. All of it was so delicious! The Mac n cheese is on the spicier side, so if that's not your palate type, get the fries. There is music playing, but it's a perfect volume where you can still hold a conversation.

Yelp
"Country Road Ice House" is located in the Power & Light District. Our hotel staff recommended this restaurant-bar when we inquired about a place to watch football games. The place is very nice. We sat at the bar, and I feel we received an appropriate level of service. The bartender let us watch our games and checked in when it looked like we could use more food or drink. Food and drink prices are reasonable, considering that this venue is within the KC Live complex. I also want to point out that this restaurant is a collaboration with "Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que". The menu is different than Joe's KC BBQ; the eating experience is different than Joe's KC BBQ; but the preparation of meat products is the same. (I've eaten at both restaurants.)

Yelp
My hubby and I ventured out here last night. They have tons of employees but very poor service. The inside is nice and clean but they did have an unhoused person sitting on the stoop of the entrance. Which I guess is to be expected now downtown anywhere. It took at least 10 minutes for a server to come to us after we were seated. Once we ordered the food came out quickly but then it took what felt like 30 minutes to get our check once we were done. We were in town for a concert and were wanting to get in and out quickly. If the service was better that would have been easy. They weren't terribly busy. I was super surprised to see that this is a brother company to the famous Joe's because it definitely didn't live up to all the hype! It's definitely sweet KC bbq which Texans laugh at due to them thinking bbq shouldn't be sweet. I love sweet bbq but this was definitely blah. The quality of meat was sub par, taste was good but nothing close to amazing. My hubby got the big Joe that I was able to sample. Fries were pretty good with good seasoning. I ordered the taquitos because I had to see what it was like to have chipotle mashed potatoes with bbq fried! They were good but nothing I'd go back for. I think the idea of bbq mashed potatoes would be good on its own. 3 stars is actually pretty generous for our experience.

Yelp
This restaurant is located downtown in the power light district and came highly recommended by other Yelpers. The seating is more bar style than for comfort. The service was decent, bringing our drinks quickly and taking our orders. I had the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich and it came with fries. The fries were a bit on the stale side, not even very crunchy. The sandwich was decent, had a minor bite to it but I didn't add any additional sauce to the sandwich. Our waters were refilled quickly and plates were removed in a timely manner. The food wasn't the best I had in KC but the service was decent and the atmosphere was good for a large group gathering.

Yelp
Love the food I ordered ribs and one meat which burnt ends. I got corn veggies muffins. I got Bloody Mary ( it was awesome!!! ). Service was great they helped me to get the WiFi (it was hard to put the WiFi but all good ). Cool place. Relaxing joint. Big space. Check it out

Yelp
We tried this place for lunch today. My guest got the macaroni bowl and I got the ribs and meat plate with macaroni which was $2 upgrade for a side (not worth it). All of our macaroni was room temp not even warm. Tasted like powdered cheese. I would not recommend the mac and cheese. The ribs were hot and tender, flavor was good. The pork was very good and the bbq sauce was alright, yet pretty standard. Service was good. The location was nice and close to everything.
google avatar

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Plenty of seating 9pm Friday. Seated quickly. The fries were the best. Seasoned. Hot. Plentiful. The nachos were not great. The shredded cheese was not melted and it needed sour cream and other items. The Z brisket was good. Needed the sauce for certain. All the NCAA games were in the TVs so that is a plus.
google avatar

Stan G.

Yelp
This is not the original gas station OK Joe's but is a good location and close replicate. Had the ribs and brisket sandwich. Food arrived quickly and was good, but nothing to celebrate. Food was Luke warm and lacked some of the flavor expected from OK Joe's. I did like the location, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Jaci S.

Yelp
Food was firrrrrrrrrre Brisket off the two meat was really good. Service was great - despite being really busy, they had our food out in a decent time. Other services got us water too. Great job Little loud but great for a sports bar. TVs everywhere. Def coming back here!

Lance B.

Yelp
I had the Burnt end brisket tacos, the "burnt ends" looked like chunks of meow mix on a taco shell drowned in a sauce. Definitely not an actual burnt ends of a brisket.
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Nice treat here in Kansas City. This places had Burnt Ends, my favorite BBQ item to eat. Came with three baby back ribs. Burnt ends had a real nice smoke flavor but still enjoyed the meat flavor. But since I am sauce guy, had to dip them into the their original sauce. Great addition to my ends. Very tasty, not to sweet and slight kick hiding in there. Very good. The ribs were tight and meaty. They pulled clean off the rib but you need a little pull to them, which to me was perfect. I not a complete fall of the bone when you pick them up. I want the meat to stay put til I bite into it then pull off clean. Which it did. Nicely down folks. The bake beans had a nice flavor and of course came with bits of meat hanging the sauce as well. I wanted a little more flavor so I added some of their original bbq sauce to them. Ow that was good!!! Also a side of toast to help mop up any left overs drippings or sauce. Nice touch. Wash it down with a Jack & Coke tall. Nice joint with awesome service from Maya and the staff.

Dexie D.

Yelp
This had to be the worst BBQ that I have ever ate! It's not grilled or smoked, seems to be boiled and baked. Highly disappointed!!! BBQ Sauce is good, without any good meat it's useless. We had Pork Ribs, Burnt Ends, and Sausage with side of Mac n Cheese. Also loaded Mac n Cheese with Sausage... My mixed cocktail, FROZE was the best part of my whole purchase! Group of 20, and we all agreed!!! Stomachs were all hurting the next day!!!

Yelp
Great place located in the power and light district near KC Live. The place is clean and the food along with the service was great. Serving staff was awesome and took the time to refill drinks without having to ask for them. Price was on par for want you wanted. Well worth the stop and they have food for any taste.
google avatar

Kyle K.

Yelp
Fast and correct every time I order togo. The two meat rib combo is probably the best value
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
My first BBQ stop in KC. It was a busy Friday with the NCAA tournament happening just a few blocks away. I was seated fairly quickly and my server was prompt. The food was decent, not as warm as it should be but tasted good. They had TVs all over the place with sports on. If you're looking for a BBQ spot in downtown/Light district area to watch sports, this is a good option.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
A trip to Kansas City nearly always includes a stop to the Ice House. It has great ambiance and you can usually find one or two sports broadcast on the many televisions. But, I mainly come for the BBQ. Joe's KC BBQ to be more precise. Pork. Ribs. Chicken. Brisket. Burnt ends. Sausage. The madness goes on with the sides. All the food is excellent and reasonably priced. They also have a sizable list of beer. Some draft, but mostly cans. Well worth the stop.
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
Everyone enjoyed their food, it came quickly. (It was lunch time so fairly empty) chill vibe. Service was quick and server was nice
google avatar

Justin J.

Yelp
I got a 2 meat platter burnt ends (which were great) and brisket which was mediocre. Side of fries that were fresh and crispy like I ordered. Service was attentive and friendly. In my opinion the only reason for not 5 stars was the brisket. I think it was sliced early in the day and was thin and a little dry from sitting around (more so than a freshly sliced fatty cut which I order at any BBQ place I go) All said my experience warrants a solid meal and I would recommend it!
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
Loved this place on our visit in Kansas City. Our server, Bri, was awesome! She's hilarious and cool to talk to. Very down to earth type of person. We tried the brisket nachos. Good toppings but the highlight was the type of chips. These weren't store bought chips, but legit ones that you'd expect from a local taqueria. Very surprising! We also tried the 3 meat platter. Ribs, sausage and pulled pork. This was also tasty but got dwarfed by the nachos in our opinion. Lots of beer selections and Bri wasn't shy in letting us try samples before committing to the glasses. Most bars seem to discourage samples or rush you. She made the experience great! Prices are also fair and it's walking distance to this loud plaza behind it (with giant tvs, a DJ and bars outside, fun!) And also an ice cream place down the street. Think it's called Cookie Insomnia or something. So if you're looking to stocking up on delicious protein in your belly and copious amounts of beer, then want to wander around town like a fool, this is the spot!
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
Service was great from the time we were seated to the time we left. We ordered the brisket nachos. They had a nice kick but lacked brisket. The cheese wasn't completed melted when brought to the table. We ate it because we were hungry but it wasn't something I'd get again. The loaded Mac & cheese with sausage was mediocre. For the 2 meat plate I had brisket and sausage. The brisket was great. Loved that it was thin sliced and tender. The sausage was dry & tough. The plating lacked presentation but there was enough space to add sides or cut the meat. The onion rings were great and the baked beans were good too. I had a hard cider but it tasted more like beer than cider and didn't drink it all. Good place to go with a group. I'd give this place another 1/2 star if I could.
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Solid BBQ choice if you happen to be in the area. I was downtown for a convention and wanted to try something new. Not super cheap, but not particularly expensive either. I had the loaded Mac and cheese with brisket, which was quite tasty. I tried a bit of their spicy sauce as well as the original, and while the spicy wasn't bad, you've gotta stick with the original. Solid sauce. Seemed like a good place to stop by before or after an event. I wouldn't make a special trip just for it, but if you're in the area, it's a good option.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
So relaxing and fun! The BBQ was absolutely delicious! The staff was excellent! A go to place anytime in the area!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
If you come with a group you can expect them to be unable to split the bill even if you ask in advance of ordering and they say they can. Incredibly disappointing and, quite frankly, unacceptable. Food 8/10 Service 0/10
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
Now this was a BBQ place. It's located in the light district, so I was worried it was just overrated BBQ, but this was some of the best BBQ I've had. We had the burnt ends taquitos for an appetizer and man we're they good! I then got the two meat platter with ribs and burnt ends. Wow! The burnt ends were absolutely amazing! Make sure you try these because once they're out, they're out for the day and they were the best part! Now the cornbread - the BEST cornbread I've had! Hands down, you need to order these. They're life changing.
google avatar

Jennie L.

Yelp
Chill atmosphere, good service, great BBQ. Since this was actually KC Joe's bbq we already had favorite dishes that we knew were going to get. First we started with the brisket nachos - the brisket was chopped up and mixed in with the cheese, jalepenos, tomatoes, crema and a side of salsa. I thought the best bites were the ones with tomatoes cause it added a fresh taste in every bite. Then we got the ZMAN sandwich which is a must try It consisted of brisket, cheese, onions rings, bbq sauce and pickles. The sandwich is hands down an all time favorite - do yourself a favor and just get it. You won't regret it. No picture cause I was hungry and ate it.

AJ G.

Yelp
Here from denver to watch the chiefs game for my bday and we had alfonso as our server-hands down the best experience ever. He came with the best energy and recommend the best food. come and ask for alfonso! thanks for the experience my guy!

Yelp
Consider County Road Ice House for your next private dining event. We had our rehearsal dinner at County Road Ice House and we had a great time and were well taken care of. They have a great indoor/outdoor space in the KC Live! block with your own private bar. Their service is excellent. Their food is Joe's BBQ, so you know it's good. Since we had 20 people, they allowed us to order straight off the menu. However, if you have a larger group you may need to order one of their pre-fixe or buffet packages.
google avatar

Zara T.

Yelp
Solid wait staff, lots of space and great drink options. I ordered the lake water frozen drink, and I would say if you like coconut at all, this is a must!!! They had drink specials, even on the weekends, which was nice to see. Would definitely recommend for a happy hour or if you have some time to spend in between events.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
The food was good, but we were sitting directly under two speakers blaring sports and we asked if they could turn it down so we could hear each other. Waitress said she would ask the manager to turn it down over us. Five minutes later, the volume was turned UP. There is a singing convention in town and there were about 20 paying customers who wanted to sing a quick song... as soon as they started singing, the volume went UP again. Whoever is in charge of the volume should know they lost about 30 customers forever. Well done.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good ribs and cheap beer if you're in a hotel, would skip the brisket if you're tempted

Yelp
Mannnnnn! This place right here!!!..... ooouufff!!!!the food was there. Delivery was there. Presentation was there and the atmosphere is very nice. They have a selection of meats and man I'm from Houston but now I know why they say what they say about KC! Y'all really did it over here at this venue! The service was top notch and I love the decor! Wait time was not bad being here for the nfl draft and make sure you make your way over to insomnia cookies for the snack and dessert which is right across the street. The meat ...... let's talk about how you need NO SAUCE! Yes you heard me right! NO! SAUCE! It just falls off the bone and it's so tender! The max and cheese was packed with flavor! I almost had to take a nap. I can't wait to come back to kc... love y'all!
