Couples Sans Souci

We rate all the hotel staff 100%. We could not fault them at all. 4 in particular stood out- Miguel, Alex and ‘Captain’ Christopher from the beach and Tashiba from the restaurant. All really lovely, friendly people who made us feel welcome and at home there. ||Housekeeping was brilliant and also the hotel nurse. Sorry, we don’t have their names.||I suffered an injury towards the end of our holiday and i was looked after by all. Everyone was caring and friendly. They could not do enough to help. I would like to thank everyone for being so attentive and helpful. Even the guys on the beach who came over and chatted, making me laugh helped towards my recovery 😊||The food and drinks were excellent. The meals we had in Casanova were the best we have ever eaten in an all inclusive hotel. It was fine dining at its best. It was refreshing to be able book restaurants of our choice more than once during our stay. ||Hotel room was the biggest we have ever stayed in and we had a great sea view. ||Hotel, rooms and outdoor areas were spotlessly clean and well maintained.||We would not hesitate to visit again, as we loved every second of our holiday.

We had a great experience at Couples San Souci as first timers at a Couples resort. Even though Jamaica had recently had the cat 5 hurricane, you wouldn't have known it at the resort. They did an awesome clean up. Service was excellent and the food was very good. We spent all our days at the au natural pool and beach and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My only suggestion to Couples would be to take better control of the activities at the au natural pool as there were several repeaters as a group that played pool volleyball all afternoon essentially taking up most of the pool when pool volleyball was only supposed to be for an hour. Some folks would also prefer to float in the pool or just socialize and it was more difficult with volleyball going on all afternoon. . Also if you were laying on the pool chairs on the pool deck you were at risk of being hit with the ball. The resort could also come up with some more creative activities or contests for couples rather than just trivia and have resort merch. as prizes. Overall we had a great experience and will return.

Couples Sans Souci is a gorgeous resort with a lush, tropical feel that immediately puts you at ease. The striking blue sea mixed with vibrant green foliage creates a picture-perfect setting throughout the property. From many locations around the resort and from numerous room balconies there are sweeping ocean views that are truly breathtaking.||The food is consistently excellent, offering a variety of well-prepared, flavorful options that make every meal something to look forward to. One standout feature is the amazing martini bar, which provides a stylish, relaxed atmosphere and expertly crafted cocktails and it is perfect for unwinding in the evening.||For those who enjoy activities, the resort offers sailing and snorkeling, and you can even get scuba certified if you’d like. If you enjoy walking, this resort is especially appealing because there are quite a few stairs and oop that allows you to walk around the property and up a very large hill. ||Couples Sans Souci is also an ideal place to relax, with peaceful spaces designed for comfort and tranquility. The facilities are clean and well maintained, adding to the overall sense of quality and care that makes this resort such a special getaway.

Where do I start? This resort is advertised as a 5 star property and it would be generous giving it a 3. The resort is old and tired and badly in need of upgrades. To start with a few positives: airport pick up was organized with no issues.(be prepared for a 2 hour drive in traffic). Check in was very welcoming and organized including luggage delivery to our room. Our king size bed was very comfortable. The grounds are absolutely spectacular and well kept. For the most part staff were wonderful. Carol who makes the breakfast omelettes is a joy! New Year’s Eve celebrations were fabulous and very well done. The cocktail party, main event and entertainment were extraordinary despite the weather not cooperating. The Bella Vista restaurant was consistently good with wonderful service. Now for the negatives: we expected so much more of the buildings, pools, beach and food after looking at the pics on their website. The buildings are tired and in need of renovations. Our room needed a deep clean right down to mildew in the shower. When you reserve you get an email as to what you would like stocked in your complimentary mini bar. When we arrived our choices were not present. We reached out to the front desk, we used their app, we spoke to beverage staff and finally the day before we left we were able to get some of what we requested. Unfortunately some of the bottles had been previously opened so therefore we did not consume them for obvious reasons. We mostly used the AN pool and beach. The pool and hot tub maintenance were lacking. Most days you could not see through the cloudy water to the bottom of the hot tub. The lounge chairs are equipped with floatie type pads. They were filthy and covered in mildew. The pool bar always ran out of plastic glasses. By mid day everything was served in a tumbler including wine. The selection of drinks were limited when they ran out of stock and there were no non alcohol beers to be had. The beach was intermittently raked but garbage persisted in the sand. Food: breakfast is served buffet style with an omelette station in Palazzina. It is repetitious and unless you get an omelette items in the chafing dishes are lukewarm at best. It is the same food daily. Staff don’t work as a team. You may get a coffee cup when you sit down but getting it filled with coffee is another story. The higher end Casanova restaurant was a total disappointment. The menu is fabulous and the food is tasty; however, the food was consistently cold and the service was either slow or non existent. The restaurant was consistently obviously short staffed. The gym is small and cramped due to it being relocated as the original facility has structural damage. This is understandable however the equipment is very dated and needs to be replaced. Most of the issues we encountered were brought up to senior staff yet after an 8 day stay we noticed no improvement to even the basic issues. This resort was a very expensive 3 star experience. Overall it is a one and done for us.

I was really close to giving this resort 5 stars. The positive reviews are correct. This is a lovely hideaway. The food was mostly good, and a few times great. The boutique nature of the resort is much appreciated. The room was awesome. The evening entertainment on most nights was great. Again, I was “this close” (holding fingers closely together) to giving CSS five stars. ||I gave it 4 stars because a huge selling point for us was that they (according to other reviews and their own website) service you while you are sitting on the beach (regularly bring you drinks, etc). That did not happen. Other reviewers spoke about a flag system to let them know that you needed a drink. The official website of CSS even talks about this service. That was a big reason why we stayed there. Bottom line, there was no flag or any other system to call for a drink. The staff came around sporadically. Example, if we were at the beach from 9 am to 5 pm, someone would come around maybe 3 times over that 8 hour period to ask if we wanted a drink. There was no way to signal that we wanted another drink. We picked this resort because of that supposed feature. The resort failed in this regard. We could have stayed at several other resorts that were a lot less expensive simply because they also do not do a great job providing you with drink service at the beach. ||Also, most of the “bartenders” did not even know how to make even the cocktails that were on the resort’s own “featured cocktails” menu. They couldn’t bartend their way out of a wet paper bag. Typically, the “bartender” would have to look at the menu to see the ingredients. They would then “guess” how much of each ingredient to use. It was like “cocktail roulette”. But in a bad and disappointing way. A couple of times it was great (read: accurate) but most of the time the proportions of the ingredients were so out of whack, that it did not taste right. Some were downright horrible. Some were|undrinkable. The only exception to this was the Balloon Bar. The main bartender there (an older Gentleman) is a great bartender. He knows his stuff! He was the only talented bartender at the resort. Also, I would ask for basic cocktails that every bartender should know. When he was not there, or if I was at any other bar except the Balloon Bar, they were confused. They had no idea how to make even basic, classic cocktails. I had to google it and tell them the ingredients and amounts. ||By day 3, I had given up and I had limited my “cocktail” to only be a rum a Coke, knowing that they could not mess that up. ||Other than that, it was great. I sincerely hope that the management takes this seriously. If someone is going to be a bartender, they need to know how to make, at a minimum, your resort’s signature cocktails and the basic, classic cocktails. You should have a book for the with the exact ratios of the ingredients to ensure they get it right.

I have very mixed feelings about this resort, as it has a lot of potential but is unfortunately mismanaged and you notice it mostly in the staff’s behaviour. Positive: the setting is beautiful and I loved that the resort is small and broken up into different parts so people are not crammed together in one space. I actually thought the food was good, maybe it was a bit repetitive but it was always fresh and plenty of options and very good quality at both restaurants (Bella Vista and Casanova). The ladies in the SPA were amazing and we went for three massages while we were there. There’s plenty of activities. People complaint about the small beach but I thought it was completely fine for the size of the resort. We were also happy with the daily cleaning and turn down service. Another very positive person was the lady at the omelette station (Carol) and the ladies at the Java Cafe - they made my day every morning. Super positive was also Zuki the tennis coach. Negative: most of the staff were lazy, inattentive, seemed unbothered and almost annoyed they had to be there. If they spoke to you it was with attitude, many never smiled and especially at the restaurants they were speaking at you and not to you. In general service at the Palazzina restaurant was so slow - multiple times we had to wait for two cappuccinos for over 30 minutes despite repeatedly reminding the staff. At the Casanova restaurant some of the staff were just rude and why doesn’t anybody ever smile? I don’t know if that’s an attitude problem or if they have never been trained in proper service. The drinks at the pool bar were poor and inconsistent - depending on the person mixing them you could get two completely different drinks when ordering the same thing. The room had a musty smell and our clothes started smelling funny as well. AC gave up on the last day. And the best thing that happened was when they decided to spray a chemical against mosquitos that is as heavy as smoke from a fire and smells very badly and they decided to start spraying at 6pm while guests were walking around the resort - we had to run away from the fog not to inhale it and all reception had to say was “it’s fine”. It’s not fine, my eyes started burning and this could cause a major attack in people who suffer from asthma. I understand you need to spray but INFORM your guests beforehand or spray at midnight not when guests are out and about for sunset drinks. In general whenever interacting with most of the staff it just felt like we were a burden to them and they couldn’t be bothered. Of course this doesn’t apply to all the staff, there was some hard working and attentive individuals who seemed to take pride in their job. We still enjoyed our stay but mostly because of the scenery, the weather, the food and the nice people we met there but we definitely wouldn’t come back and under these circumstances I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anybody as it doesn’t live up to a 5 star resort.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. We did not care for this place at all. The rooms are minimalistic and lack detail and design. Our air conditioning went out twice and we almost didn’t get into another room. There was nothing quick about the service or sense of urgency of moving us. Cups and dishes were left throughout the campus during our stay with lack of attention to cleanliness on the property. The attendant at the bar at the upstairs pool overlooking the ocean was hardly to be found. The all inclusive meals were very basic and did not seem fresh. I had mold on the bread of my hamburger at the food cafe down by the private beach area. The tables around the beach chairs sat with empty drink cups stacked with no one tending to clean up. We will not be back and I do not recommend. The only good thing about this place was the beautiful outside structure of the resort and the views of the ocean.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (6/10) This hotel has the potential to be amazing, but it falls short in several areas. The property itself is beautiful, with lush landscaping and well-kept grounds, but be prepared for a lot of walking. The rooms are very spread out, and some buildings are quite far from the restaurants, pools, and main amenities, which can get frustrating in the heat. This resort is definitely more suited for older couples than younger travelers. There’s very little entertainment, and the overall vibe is very quiet. If you’re looking for a lively atmosphere or activities, this isn’t the place. One of the biggest disappointments was the beach, it wasn’t swimmable at all because of the heavy seaweed buildup. Unfortunately, the pools weren’t much better. Most of them had insects, leaves, and debris floating around, and they just didn’t feel clean or inviting. Food-wise, I’d give it another 6/10. The grill was the best restaurant on the property, but avoid the hotdog. They do offer an international night with dishes from different countries, which was actually a fun experience and one of the highlights of the stay. The staff was a mixed bag. I encountered a few rude employees, but overall, most of the staff were friendly. The housekeepers especially were outstanding, definitely a 10/10. They were kind, attentive, and consistently did a great job. This hotel could be a lovely getaway for the right kind of traveler, but for me, it was just okay. With cleaner pools, a swimmable beach, and more entertainment options, it would be much more enjoyable
