Fantastic dining experience – safe, thoughtful, and delicious We dined at Courgette for my birthday dinner with my husband and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Both of us are anaphylactic to seafood, and the kitchen’s strict no–cross contamination policy immediately put us at ease. The staff were knowledgeable, confident, and clearly took food safety very seriously, which made us feel completely comfortable dining here — something that isn’t always easy when you have severe allergies. The food was outstanding. We chose the three-course dinner and paired wines with each course, and every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The wine pairings were excellent and complemented the food perfectly. We did have a short wait to be seated despite having a booking, the staff handled everything professionally. Getting there and back was easy, we caught an Uber on the 27th of December and only waited around three minutes each way, including the return trip to our hotel. Payment at the table by card was also very convenient. The chairs were surprisingly comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and all staff were polite and attentive. Overall, we had a fantastic evening and wouldn’t hesitate to return — especially for anyone with serious food allergies looking for a place they can truly trust. Highly recommended.

We came to Courgette for our New Year’s Eve dinner on 31/12/2025. We have been here for dinner twice two years ago which were all good services and good food. But we were very disappointed with this time. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:40pm but after more than a hour we were able to order our food. And the waiter forgot to serve us the oysters that we have ordered. Until two hours later the waiter served our entrees, we asked him why the oysters were not served yet? And then he took the oysters to our table… We had to eat them with entrees together… The food was served so slowly and one of the main meal was almost cold… At last, we finished our dinner around 8:30pm that was almost 3 hour long we stayed at the restaurant… Just hope more staffs can take orders for customers but not only waiting for one person. And the waiters should serve the dishes according to the sequence of the customers’ reservation time and arrival time. At last, the food can be served in a normal time frame but not waiting for more than two hours…

I won a bet with my husband. The wager: lunch at the swankiest restaurant in Canberra! As it had to be between Christmas and New Year, and accessible by public transport, we chose Courgette. We are so glad we did. It was almost like we were meant to dine here. I was pleasantly surprised by the patronage on a Saturday after Christmas. There were four couples, two tables of three and a table of four. In another room, there was a large group. The service was so respectful and efficient. When I saw the meals arriving at tables in various shaped plates, colourful and abundant, I thought there must be an artist in the kitchen! When you feel positive and slightly special even before your food has arrived, it gives you the best perspective and great expectation. We opted for the 3 courses for $75. I usually don't choose dessert but I just had to try the deep fried Camembert. To start, I had the tuna followed by the lamb for main. My partner chose the duck, salmon and creme brulee. As he said, you couldn't find fault with anything. James and his staff provided impeccable service. Thank you.

Our son & his fiancè booked our family for a birthday dinner surprise here. It was a truly delightful 6-course fine dining experience! We were seated in a private room; service was superb and we even had the honour of James Mussillon himself coming to our table and chatted with us. Thank you for the lovely experience, James and staff!

Google
Amazing experience with the 5 course degustation for my mothers birthday. The staff there had made sure it was a special occasion for her and arranged accordingly. Food and service top-notch, highly recommend!

Google
We had an extremely good birthday lunch here today. I thought the beef cheek, the scallops and the lamb dishes were extremely tasty and well cooked but really everything was very good. There was ample food in the 3 course degustation. I had two wonderful glasses of wine: a 2020 Sergi ‘seductive’ basket pressed Shiraz and a 2023 Juniper Three Fields Chardonnay. It was a horrible day but we felt toasty-warm inside. The staff were lovely. I think James Mussillon served us himself - which was a treat. We are coming again!

Google
Delicious restaurant with 3 courses menu at 85$. The started with john Dori was exceptional, the lumb sous vide simply awesome, and the lemon tarte so delicious. I strongly recommend this french restaurant in canberra !

Google
The food was average — not sure how they earned the Chef’s Hat title. The staff were responsive, but the overall service felt a bit disjointed. There was also some yelling between the kitchen and server staff. A whole room of people was waiting for food; we had the degustation menu, and it took 2.5 hours to complete.

Yelp
We had a group dinner event here and all was fabulous! The presentation and flavors were delicious and everyone was happy with their selections. Highly recommend!

Yelp
It is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. There were not enough waiters and it took forever to be served. I had been waiting for ages before he kept serving the throngs of people sitting next to me. The food is ok but for this price, it is not acceptable. "Bad" is not suitable to describe this restaurant, "awful" is a better word. This is a dreadful restaurant, don't know why it has four stars, terrible service and such awful food quality mean I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK.

Yelp
Perfect food. That's the two words to describe Courgette. For entree, the most delicious fish in the world, fresh and exploding flavour but not overbearing. Perfectly balanced with a sweet but tangy sauce. For main the lamb chops were juicy and tender but didn't quite have the delicious flair that entree had. I would recommend a stronger wine based sauce and possibly some vegetables. Still, the best cooked lamb chops I have ever had. Dessert was very nice as well, leaning towards the sweeter side on the cheesecake spectrum but all together fabulous and a great way to finish the meal. The whipped butter with bread was absolutely gorgeous but with a slightly commercially ham taste incorporated with the butter. Superb meal with great service with friendly but not overbearing wait staff. Definitely returning. Expensive but completely worth it.

Yelp
This was my third birthday dinner at Courgette in three years and I will keep coming back. The flavours and presentation are always first rate. There may have been a change of staff during the past year as the service seemed a bit disorganised this time. This time I let the new somelier pair wines with the courses and I think I will go back to single bottles in the future. Several of the wine offerings were not to my personal taste. My previous two visits I had a different somelier who actually remembered me between my yearly visits and he truly understood my tastes and always selected perfectly for me.

Yelp
So overrated Food is not good. That's all I can say for it, not good. Bad sauce. Not a good menu. It's not so much the chefs fault, more the produce is bad. Wine list is also about $150 for a bottle that costs $14 at dan Murphys. Only reason it's not 2 stars is because it's nice decoration

Yelp
Hi, We have been to Courgette a couple of times. Last week we went to Sage on Friday and then Courgette on Saturday (due to out of town guests). Wow, what a difference in the service. The service at Courgette was cold, impersonal and ineffective. At no point did the servers even ask if we enjoyed the meal. In comparison the service at Sage was just brilliant. They were personable, fun, engaging and described the meals when served. These are both well respected restaurants but the difference was staggering when it came to the service level. As for the food, Courgette was good but again, compared to the Sage, it fell short. Sage had their five course test menu but in fact, they provided about 8 dishes in total and they were all great. I can't say we will be going back to Courgette but will definitely be going back to Sage.

Yelp
Near flawless. The food is divine, the venue is very nice, the staff are perfect. The best food I've eaten in Canberra, except maybe Chairman and Yip.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning. Romantic setting with great food. Not too expensive either (except the drinks). Excellent wait staff. Highly recommended for that romantic evening, to impress visitors to Canberra and for anyone looking for an experience with their meal.

Yelp
I have eaten at Courgette a couple of times in the past 6 months and the first time I couldn't fault it but the second time, regrettably, I was left a tad disappointed. I had the set four course menu on both occasions and I didn't leave hungry on either if those nights. However, if you had a big appetite I reckon you'd be swinging by Maccas on the way home, they are not huge portions. Where they lack in quantity they more than make up for in quality and this was particularly true during my first visit. The desert stands out in my mind as bring one if the most memorable dishes I've eaten but sadly this couldn't be said for my second visit. In fact, I was bitterly disappointed with my 'cheesecake' which was from the specials menu as it lacked the smooth creamy texture that you've come to expect from a cheesecake. I was also really disappointed with the wine menu, I felt it lacked choice and didn't offer some of the more commonly favoured wines like Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. They had an Australian Sav Blanc but in my humble opinion it paled by comparison. Now I love fine dining but not when there's style over substance and I feel this was the case with my second and most recent visit. I'm going to give them the benefit if the doubt and say they (or maybe I) were having an off night because the memories if my first visit are enough to get me back there again soon.

Yelp
can't believe it took us so long to discover this place, (think it used to be home to fringe benefits back in the early nineties which is when i was there last!) The set menu provides fantastic value and everything was superb
