Stopped here on the way back from the Cape May Zoo. The place is small but they seem to turn tables over quickly. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our party. The food was very good and came out quickly. The prices are reasonable and you get a decent amount of food with your order. I would recommend eating here if you're in the area. My kids got a kick out of an actual payphone in the lobby lol

We came in for a roughly 6:30ish dinner on a Saturday. There was no wait, we were seated quickly (less than 5 mins). Then, we proceeded to sit for about 10-15 mins looking over the menu and never bring approached by a server. My parents said this was unusual, but then laughed about how this had happened to them before, too. Eventually, my mom made eye contact with the hostess, and we were waited on by a very friendly server. No apologies about being essentially forgotten about (people who were seated after us were being waited on before us) or anything like that which I guess is fine, but then after taking our orders it took over 30 mins to get the food. No one has anything involved it was wrap, salad, chili, burger, omelette, so something that shouldn't have taken over a half hour. Also, as we sat, the diner slowly dwindled in activity so it's also not like the kitchen was slammed. My dad made a comment about it taking an unusually long time for the food to come out. Eventually we were able to get boxes and packed our food. My husband, son and I left to the parking lot while my parents hung back for the check. After a few mins my dad joins us, and after several more minutes I go back inside to see if my mom's gotten the check yet. No. I want to say something to the hostess bc it seems like she's also management, but I can't because she's deep in conversation with customers who are paying and leaving. So deep in conversation that after another several minutes my mom is able to wave down the server and request the check. Never once did the hostess say "I'm sorry I'll be right with you" or anything like that. Quite honestly, the food was great, but the service sucked so bad you couldn't pay me to continue patronizing this establishment. Most any diner can make a decent wrap and burger. It's the people, the atmosphere that keep you coming back and if I'm going to be ignored and forgotten about for an hour and expected to leave good tips and keep coming back for more, then I'm the only one losing out here. We sat down sometime between 6:15-6:30 and I started this review at 7:45 complete exasperated with this diner. So save yourself the headache and hit another diner. Or get take-out, or roll the dice and maybe have a decent experience.

This was our first visit here this year while vacationing. We normally dine at our traditional stop further north on a Saturday night but a friend recommended the Court House Diner and they were right! This place is really good. Starting with our server who was very sweet and attentive, then the food which came out quickly and was delicious. The clams and linguini had fresh clams, the chicken Marsala was made with all fresh ingredients including loads of chopped garlic. Our son enjoys a good panini and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. This may be our new spot when we are in the area!

I hate leaving bad reviews and was really hoping this diner would be as good as it used to be years ago! We brought a family member here for a quick birthday dinner. Ordered cheese steaks, chicken cheese steaks kids Alfredo and kids tenders. The sandwiches were all roll literally no meat at all. Tasted good though. Now the Alfredo, I’m not sure if it’s because it was a kids or what but my daughter is a teen and always get Alfredo everywhere and she said it wasn’t great, I tried it and she wasn’t lying….what is the Alfredo? It’s more like a butter noodles… and the tenders for kids was so tiny! It never used to be like there. Our plates were so empty besides the Alfredo was a decent size. I always thought the kids were offered ice cream at the end? Used to be that way? Sadly…this place has went down hill.

Yelp
You know you're in a different part of New Jersey when you spot not one pay phone but TWO! Does the first one have so much traffic that you need two? These are things I need to find out at the Court House Diner. The place was bustling when we came in. We were seated quickly. The waitress was friendly and took our order in a timely manner. I ordered a Chicken Fajita wrap and upgraded from chips to fries for $2. My wife ordered the french toast (yes, breakfast is still an option here at 1:25 pm on a Thursday). The order came within 10 minutes. That's a win! My wrap was very good. It wasn't spicy, which I prefer. There were an appropriate number of fries and they were crunchy. We would stop here again if we were in the area.

Yelp
Had brunch at Court House Diner and it was nice. The diner has a visible location, at the corner of busy Rt. 9., and plenty of parking. The diner has many booths/tables, kept clean, and the staff is friendly and attentive. All of what we ordered was very good, made with fresh ingredients, and the portions were large. Western Omelet, with home fries and Buttermilk Pancakes, with Turkey Sausage Patties. The coffee was very good, as well. Four refills later, I was pleasantly wide awake for the remainder of the day. I'm going to add the Court House Diner to my Cape May itinerary and I recommend it to every Yelper.

Yelp
This was a very good diner for good 'down the shore' diner food. Fellow Yelpers Dee M and Phil joined me for a good diner breakfast while we were all on vacation. The diner is in a great location, on the mainland, very easy to get in and out. We were greeted promptly and seated in a big comfy booth. As with most diners, we were handed giant menus with about 400 options. I opted for the dinner-plate sized pancakes with crispy scrapple. It was delicious, fluffy, not too heavy, and yummy. The scrapple was probably the only soft spot, as it was mushy. Service was efficient and friendly. Overall a solid diner experience. I'd go again.

Yelp
This place is a tourist trap, food is just not good. Forget about take out, if you call they have to get a server to take the order and something is always wrong. The turkey dinner is like a thick sliced lunch meat.

Lunch with a co worker. Ordered a grilled chicken salad. Large filling salad. Plenty of flavor from fresh ingredients. Only bummer No Coke, Pepsi....

Yelp
Hasn't changed in all the years we have been eating there. Prices still reasonable, and those tots!!!

Yelp
A diner that feels like it was preserved from 1982. The inside is immaculately clean and the staff are as nice as can be. We came for dinner and expected a traditional diner experience. This was a bit different. The place felt like a throwback from the 80's combined with a roadside stop off of I-95 down south. I ordered the broiled tilapia and my wife ordered the broiled flounder. The entrees came with 2 sides and a choice of soup or salad. My wife chose the soup of the day which was seafood bisque and I asked for the French onion. The waitress told me there would be an extra charge for the French onion soup because it was not included. Ok that's understandable. However, I didn't realize until we got the check that they charged me the full price of a French onion soup and not an up-charge. Oh well. We were served a few soft rolls with butter before the meal that were reminiscent of slider buns. I believe these rolls were also the bread in my French onion soup which was just ok. I guess my biggest gripe was that the cheese on top was barely melted and not charred at all. Anyway, on to the main entrees. The choice of sides was a bit bizarre. The choices were mac and cheese, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Typically diners include coleslaw and offer actual vegetables and a baked potato at least, but this was not the case. We both chose the mashed and coleslaw. The coleslaw was fresh but the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and the gravy was a strange yellowish cream that didn't really taste like a typical gravy. I was not a fan. The fish, however, was very good. A generous portion cooked perfectly in a delicious garlic, lemon butter sauce. All in all dinner was decent but not the traditional diner experience we were anticipating. Courthouse "diner" seems to attract a lot of loyal locals and probably a good crowd for lunch from the hospital across the street. I'm sure there are plenty of delicious menu items if you know what to order but it's unlikely I'll be back to try them.

Yelp
The Cuban Rice bowl is one of the best dishes I have ever had anywhere. It is so unique and super savory. I hope they never get rid of it because I don't think I'd be able to find the same dish anywhere else. I've never had a bad meal here.

Yelp
Stopped here for late lunch after a visit to Cape May. My wife and I got club sandwiches. One was roast beef and cheese, mine was turkey and bacon. Both were huge and tasty. Came with crisp, delicious fries and cole slaw. I got navy bean soup also. It had a homemade taste, probably the best navy bean I've had. Menu is extensive and prices are reasonable. Our waitress was perky and attentive. We will definitely be back here.

Yelp
When i walked in i was greeted and sat down with no silverware or anything and took about ten minutes for the waiter to get our drinks. Once he got our drinks i was drinking mine and i sucked up something in the straw, it was a seed. I had root beer so there was no way that there was a lemon on it. After that we ordered our food i was with my bf and i asked for NO SAUCE on my ravioli and it came with extra sauce. My bf calls over the waiter for a second time the first was for the seed and he says something about the sauce. The waiter took the food back and came back about two minutes later with them washed off, literally they washed off the sauce with water. never go here go to the McDonald's across the street.

Yelp
Always a good go to when on vacation. The pirogies and kielbasa have always been a favorite of mine. My boyfriend enjoyed his gyro which was extra saucy. We have been here for breakfast and lunch before as well and have enjoyed that too. No frills, just good Jersey diner.

Yelp
Stop by on our way to the zoo. WOW !!!!! What an amazing place . The second we walked in we were treated like family. Hospitality over the top. I can't begin to say enough about how friendly and polite our server was. Food was amazing. Can't wait to go back. True classic Greek American diner. We need more places like this.

Yelp
My wife eat here every time we are in town. Quick seating. Wait staff very pleasant and food comes out quickly. Food is good and and reasonably priced. We will continue to patronize this restaurant

Nevaeh H.

Yelp
No hello or any type of greeting from waitress or hostess. Was given dirty napkins. Food was not good, service was terrible.

Beth D.

Yelp
Just had a roast beef club at this diner and it was delicious Everything from the roast beef to the lettuce and tomato was very fresh Sat at the counter "with" myself and everyone made me feel welcome, especially Joanna- a truly great experience I will be back!!!

Joey G.

Yelp
Never a complaint with the quality of the food or welcoming atmosphere. Consistently good! Service, however, can be a bit haphazard and distracted, and there seems to be repeatedly confusion about table assignments. That, however, would not stop me from continuing my patronage of this quality diner.
google avatar

Veronica K.

Yelp
No complaints about this place, it's typical Jersey diner fare. I liked my open face reuben, it was large and tasty. My dining companions liked their meals as well. Not a bad spot.

Yelp
We were seated immediately upon arrival and the service was quick (we had to make it to a tee time, so we asked for rapid service). Coffee refills were on point, but the coffee tasted like steel. However, the breakfast was delicious and much better than expected. Our orders arrived at the table in about 10 minutes. The fastest I've ever got my eggs and bacon in my entire life!

Yelp
My mom was in the hospital and it was Easter, didn't have many options for take out, so we decided to try here. I ordered a chicken bruschetta sandwich. It was awful. The bruschetta had olives in it which I have never in my life heard of putting olives in it. I looked back at the menu to see if it stated there would be olives because if so I would have never ordered it. No olives were listed. Service for pick up was not great either. I asked if we could have plastic knives and forks and she said they were in the bag already. I asked for extra napkins and she said they also were in the bag but she'd give us extra. She threw 2 napkins in the bag. Got back to the hospital and no silverware at all, and the only napkins in there were the "extra" ones she threw in there. I had tipped her extra because it was Easter and she didn't really deserve it. She was also miserable.

Yelp
Tried out the court house diner a few times while staying in the area. The food is consistent. It's diner food, but quite decent. The eggs were always cooked as we requested, the omelette yummy and the portions hearty. Maria our waitress was lovely with us and our kids. And they were able to accommodate large groups.
google avatar

Jacqueline G.

Yelp
My husband and I love diners and liked the looks and menu we saw posted on Yelp. The greeting was so friendly and looking around the room there was a lot of good looking and fragrant smelling foods. We were seated almost immediately. The waitress came right away to get us started on drinks and see if we were ready to order. Lots of options on the menu. I narrowed it down and asked the waitress if she'd recommend anything. She chose one of the two I had narrowed it to. The food came starting with salad and it was delicious. Nice, fresh salad and food. We liked it so much we went there the next week.

Yelp
Good breakfast, nice service, yum coffee. Totally enjoyed our decision to stop here for a vacation breakfast. We always drive by but never stop and today we did. Enjoyed my omelette, Nutella banana French toast def could have used more bananas and Nutella!

Yelp
Excellent food for the price .. Huge shout-out to our waiter Shawn who gave us excellent service. Very friendly cashier. We will be back

Yelp
The wait staff is a group of lovely ladies. The menu has a great selection and the prices are quite reasonable. Plenty of parking in their private lot. It's a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Antonio D.

Yelp
Old school diner but worth it. We go here a lot for breakfast and I really like their Chicken Francaise. It's not as good as Lobster House but it works in a pinch. Their carrot cake which is 6 thin layers is very good to Round off your meal.

Yelp
Recently I got take out at the Court House Diner in Cape May Court House).  It's somewhat confusing, but Cape May Court House is a town in New Jersey just north of Cape May. Court House Diner Atmosphere: Since New Jersey restaurants are closed until June 15th, everything was take out. The exterior of the Court House Diner is cobblestone. You aren't allowed inside, and everything was handled safely. Court House Diner Food: The Court House Diner is operating off a limited menu. There were plenty of items on the Court House Diner, including tilapia, Ruebens, a few salads, and breakfast.  I decided to order the tilapia, which came with two sides.  I chose double french fries. The meal came with a giant loaf of bread. I've never had a restaurant include the bread basket in take out so that was awesome.  The tilapia was cooked well and not soggy, and there were plenty of fries. I can't remember the last time I had tilapia and I don't know if I've had it at a diner before (which is crazy with the amount of diners I've been too). Court House Diner Service: The waitress at the Court House Diner was friendly and everything was handled safely. All food came right to the door. No one was allowed inside and I felt comfortable with how everything was being handled. As I dine at various restaurants during the pandemic, I can't help but think how staff making me feel comfortable as they hand food over is now the biggest thing I think about. Would I Come Back? I enjoyed the Court House Diner and it was good. I'll be back, even just for take out. I appreciate how safe the staff handled everything and the food was just good.

Yelp
This is a great place to come anytime of year! The diner was very clean and decorated for fall! The staff was very friendly and attentive! I got the tuna club which was huge and tasty! I ordered the kiddie combo for my niece and it was a fun variety of kid friendly food! Court house looses a star because it was supposed to come with icecream or jello and we never got any!

Brian M.

Yelp
This place deserved a gabillion stars. This was my 2nd or 3rd time going and it was gosh darn delectable. The service was fast and the waitress was very nice. I got the chicken noodle soup and the chicken alfredo. The chicken noodle was very homestyle and it was hot but not burning. The chicken alfredo was absolutely amazing, very creamy and tastes similar to olive garden but personally I'd say it's better by a long shot.I had tried some of my family's food like the pancakes which were very fluffy and buttery and the french fries which tastes just like a french fry but still yummy. The lights are super cool and I like the scene and stuff of the place. They also have a cool working pay phone in the lobby which I thought was pretty neataleato. The drink selection was average with fountain sodas and stuff like chocolate milk and water, not much to say about it. I got the raspberry Brisk iced tea and it was super good, would 100% recommend. They also had this super good cinnamon sugar bread they brought out with the soup and salad.

Yelp
Waffle sandwich. Sub bacon with scrapple. Trust me on this one. It makes for a glorious mess. Yeah, I only had breakfast here, and there wasn't a lot of variety with what my friends ordered either, but we all agreed it had to have scrapple. There are some interesting juices involved (POG, for example), but then I looked over and they all come out of a juice machine. It should not cost $4 for 16 oz of concentrated juice machine orange. That dampened my enthusiasm a little bit. Service was friendly, the atmosphere is nice, and it's a good place whenever you may want breakfast. I also have to account for not being the biggest fan of diners, so I'll round up to 4 stars overall, even if it's only predicated on one helluva sandwich.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Dinner at the diner. It was empty but kind of late, some patrons from the hospital ordered over the phone as I sat at the bar. I wasn't super hungry so I tried something new, the Waldorf Cheese Melt. It was SOS if I've ever seen it. Taste was a little bland, not sure what I was expecting but that's why I got a side of fries. The service was good and they kept my water glass full.

Yelp
Perennial favorite for Avalon/Stone Harbor area dining. Classic NJ diner fare plus high end extras. Family owned and managed.
google avatar

Jackie T.

Yelp
This place is a great breakfast spot. It's always pretty filled when I go. Our service this morning was great and the food is average diner food but still good. Highly recommend the spicy Italian sausage and tater tots. Everything is a little outdated and could probably use a deep clean, but it's not that bad. Food is reasonably priced and it's a wholesome family atmosphere.

Yelp
Visit #2 Food was really good. Waitress was great. Only complaint was the hostess upon leaving. While she processed my credit card, she was on the phone yelling something in Greek to the other party. Put the damn phone down and properly treat your customers. Bad enough when customers do this but the hostess definitely not! Two stars for unprofessional behavior.
google avatar

Yelp
People were sat on top of each other in restaurant. I have photos of a table of 9 that were sat very close to us. So much for social distancing rules for restaurants. Server freaked out when asked to put condiments on the side and not on the sandwich. Raised her voice and said she wasn't waiting on us she was too busy and would get another server. She then proceeded to throw and slam stuff behind the counter. We were also told that fries did not come with the sandwich. The menu shows that fries do come with the sandwich is ordered before 3 pm, it was in 2:30 pm. A manager never came over to apologize. No customer service skills whatsoever. The server that took over was a sweetheart and very nice. Food was just okay. Grilled chicken in Waldorf Salad was dry as wood.

Andrea R.

Yelp
My husband and I had our grand children for the first time and came to our favorite area Cape May Courthouse. After a day at the zoo and pool - my husband ran out for takeout and ended up here. They waited on him as if he was sitting at a table. He came back with stuffed local flounder with fresh crispy broccoli, bread, salad and dessert for $15. He had the lamb and fried eggplant and that was also awesome. I wasn't even hungry but downed all of the fish and broccoli! Our grand kids are young and had leftover chicken tenders. This was awesome, delicious and fresh clean food!!

Yelp
New Jersey is famous for our diners. This one has been here a long time. Many faces are familiar at each visit. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. The food is good. Basic diner food, which everyone loves. Big menu with a good variety. They have something for everyone, so you are sure to find some favorites.
google avatar

Tania H.

Yelp
Gave this place a try this weekend. I was completely underwhelmed. I was shocked this place got such good ratings... how? Food was ok... I was not feeling the service however. We were seated and the hostess mumbled where the childrens menu was. Apparently it's on the back of the place mat.... after searching a while I finally found it. The waitress requested twice for our table "to be set up" by other staff. Which meant an extra set of utinsels and crayons for our child. It was not a very welcoming feel or vibe in there. Our son never got his jello or ice cream that was supposed to go with his meal. We got burgers. The meat was good but I ordered a tex mex burger which was supposed to have cajun spices. I literally got a plain burger not cajun in the slightest. First time we tried this place and will likely be our last.

Yelp
Food was not great place wasn't cleaned well. Owners daughter was eating at the register ignoring customer standing there to pay. She also was talking negative about other employees to working employees which made them visibly uncomfortable. This was my first in this restaurant and I don't think it's worth a round two with so many issues.

Frank B.

Yelp
I visit the Court House Diner quite frequently. The food is great and the cost is reasonable. The waitresses and waiters are exceptional, always attending to my needs and constantly inquire if everything is alright. The atmosphere is terrific, I never feel rushed and the staff members are sociable and pleasant. Joanne and Helen the Hostesses/Cashiers are always very nice to customers when entering or leaving. I must commend the owner for running a nice establishment. I would have no reservations in recommending the Court House Diner to my family or friends. Frank B. Philadelphia

Yelp
The Court House Diner is an awesome, family-owened restaurant in Cape May Court House. The chicken augie is amazing. And so is the orange teriyaki salmon. Service is super great. And the owners treat customers like family. We live 2 hrs away and come down for the food. Absolutely worth the drive!

Yelp
Frequent customer of the CHD - Tonight I wanted to share the goodness with my family - I ordered the Family Meal Special which consisted of Bean Soup/salad / wonderful Bread / as well as Bread pudding for desert - Our Main course was 4 LARGE Chicken Croquettes sitting over a huge bed of homemade mashed potatoes with a chicken gravy topping it all off. Everyone enjoyed it all - They run different family specials each nite and this one is on the rotation at least once a week - If you are in the area, please stop by and order some takeout - I don't think you will be disappointed - Great Value as well.

Yelp
Dined here on a Sunday morning the week after Memorial Day for breakfast. It was the first diner we encountered driving down Rt9 from our campground in Ocean View. The lot was almost full so we figured it was a good place to eat. Inside we didn't need to wait as there was immediate seating. The huge portions caught our eye as we were escorted to our seat. The breakfast menu had a wide variety of basic and signature breakfast items. Prices were a little higher but in line for a resort town. I was excited to see an eggs benedict Florentine on the menu as I was missing my veggies and that's what I ordered. We had a toddler in our party and were supplied with some crayons to keep her entertained, as well as a booster but they had no kids breakfast offerings. Why would a "diner" that caters to families not have a kids breakfast menu?!? Our waitress seemed condescending at first but did warm up eventually. Our food came out rather quick and portion sizes were as generous as we expected. My eggs benedict was rather bland, and lacking salt and seasoning. The poached egg however was cooked well. I had paid extra for the addition of grilled onions and was glad that I did, otherwise the home fries would have been very bland. Even with the onions it was again lacking salt and seasoning. Clean-ish from what we could see when our toddler granddaughter dropped something under the table we were appalled at the dirt, grease, and grim under the table. It seems like they clean the exposed areas but leave what you can't see alone. It was an ok experience. Definitely not a place I would recommend or go out of my way to frequent again.

Yelp
The only reason i rated it 5 stars is because i couldn't rate it 6 stars me and my family ate hear we love it i got some scrapple which was very juicy then i got cinnamon buns which had a special sweet sauce they put in it it just added to the flavor this place is great!!! What a good experience fast survice and our waitress was verry nice i love this place and well be comming back.

Yelp
This was a great place to stop and eat. Our service was quick and the prices were excellent. Food was tasty.

Joe D.

Yelp
Don't go here! They wouldn't substitute a biscuit for toast and wanted to charge me for both. There was hair in my eggs and the silverware was dirty. Poor customer service. I'd serve my customers if I owned a food service business. Instead of no, they should do everything they can to make customers happy. I'll NEVER be back.

Rob M.

Yelp
Ordered a bacon & egg on a roll. The waitress said it comes with home fries or a choice of another potatoe. I told her I didn't want any potatoes. The sandwich came on a long sub roll and it way too dry, as the filling only covered a part of the roll with only a a little bit of bacon. Perhaps I ordered the wrong item in this diner, but it had to be the worst breakfast sandwich I had in my entire life (I'M IN THE MID 60's) I was shocked when I got the bill as it was near $13. Ten for the sandwich & 2 and change for a coffee. They also didn't deduct anything fir omitting the potatoes. When I complained about the price to the owner at the register, all she told me was " Welcome to Cape May."

Jay C.

Yelp
Came down to the area with my family for a day trip. We decided to give it a try & boy were we not disappointed!!! Our waitress was very friendly & professional! The food was simply great! We'll be visiting this diner again!

Yelp
This place is great for a quick lunch or dinner, the prices are reasonable and the service is usually very good. We had a gyro platter and the open face turkey special and both were very good.
