Sunday Jazz was an incredible first impression of Providence. Food, drinks, and service were flawless, feat. possibly the best chicken tenders we had ever had, and the music was a great time. Space is intimate and warm and everyone seemed happy to be there

Google
Bartender is amazing and the service is that of a classy speakeasy. Reminds me of Yvonne's in Boston but more boutique and harder to find but well worth the effort. Seafood is literally brought in fresh that morning, if they have a special ceviche definitely get that. You won't be disappointed. Menu is small but all the items are delicious, and pear really well with the entire wine list and cocktail menu. And if you don't see something on the menu in terms of drinks that you like, the bartender is very skilled to make something off menu.

Google
Amazing venue! Visited the club for a private event. We didn't have the food, but the drinks were amazing. The bartenders are top-notch, and the DJ was fantastic. Highly recommend!!

Such a gem. Great for a cocktail or live jazz on Sundays. Nikhil makes great food as well. Love this spot.

Absolutely HORRIBLE. Went for my partners birthday tonight. She was so excited to try this place and we will never be back. The waiter came over only once in the 45 minutes we were there we couldn't even get water. We would have gladly ordered a few rounds of drinks and tried the food but the server was awful. He bent over to check on the table next to us sticking his but in my partners face twice but couldn't be bothered to turn and see if we needed anything or wanted a beverage. We basically came here to sit. We were extremely uncomfortable and the service alone would keep us from coming back. A shame because the inside is extremely cute and the DJ who was mixing music was very good.

Google
Awesome spot. Will definitely be back. Nimki food was delicious and Sunday jazz is great. Would also come just for the unique cocktails

Google
The food from Nimki kitchen (at Cortland club) is exceptional. The chicken sandwiches should not be missed. Ideally go in a group large enough to order the whole menu, no regrets. Edit: chicken tenders should also be enjoyed! Live Jazz Sunday nights is popular, arrive early and get an outdoor spot, or.*book in advance*.

We came here late Friday night for a couple drinks & apps. My friend had been here before but this was my first visit. It is deceiving from the outside, I was like are you sure that's a bar?? But once we got inside it was wonderful! Live music, with a DJ. Vibes were on point, drinks and food were good. Bartenders were lovely as well. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
I had to get back to Courtland Club after hearing how great the food was under Nimki Kitchen. In fact, Nikhil Naiker was just named a semifinalist for Emerging Chef. We had the lentil and kale fritters with a tamarind chutney to start and then I had the daal with charred cabbage. As promised, the food was fantastic! The cocktails were just as good as I remembered, and on a Friday night the DJ was spinning just the right mix. Great food, drinks, music, and vibe!

Yelp
Cool little swanky spot. Went to see a jazz performance. Bought tickets and they sat us along the perimeter in the front stage area. Our seats were a little too close for comfort to the people next to us but it looked like some folks got better more spacious seats. Not entirely sure how they decided who sat where. Food and drink was decent. I was told the sandwich was really good that came from the pop-up hosting.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Providence! I will always recommend this place, they have it all: Service, Ambience, Amazing food and drink. Recently, Nimki has taken over the Courtland kitchen and continues to offer new, fresh dishes each week. My favorite dishes so far have been the Saina, wings, and truthfully, anything fish! Which is surprising because I do not particularly like fish. Chef Nimki knows how to pack a powerful flavor punch in his dishes. The Aguachile Fluke fish was certainly a beautifully presented dish with amazing taste and texture! I didn't get a photo of the smoked blue fish because frankly, I scarfed it all down before realizing. Just know, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the dish was, only having been served with griddled broccolini, it still had complex flavor that mingled perfectly in my mouth. The cocktails have always been why I come here, each bartender gets to showcase their own creations which keeps the menu fun and ever changing! I got to enjoy the Gemini cocktail which is a "choose your own adventure", I decided to mix them and enjoyed thoroughly. The pineapple mocktail was also very good and an awesome choice for those who do not consume alcohol. Come here and enjoy! You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Dark bookstore, vinyl, while I'm the wall bar aesthetic ~ it was a small location where you would least aspect it, not necessarily marked out, but you walk im, and are surprised to find a bar in an apartment looking building! Dim lights and cool drinks was the vibe. Staff were attentive, and ready to clear our table from dishes. I highly recommend the sweet potato ice cream. I want a tub filled with that! It's a chill bar, and I would go back soon. I loved the speakeasy look on the outside!

Yelp
Imagine once loving a space --this fun, very relaxed little hidden gem in providence- I used to bring all my out of town guest here- movie nights Monday/jazz Sundays... well.. after my experience Sunday at jazz night...I likely won't be back. I was excited for my 8pm reservation--which I planned 2weeks before. I'd been struggling away on a book manuscript all weekend so a little social hang and some jazz is just what I needed-- wrong--when I got there I had to sit through not one but two lectures about how Sunday night jazz was a quiet space-no talking above a whisper...ok that's fine..so I kept my socializing to a whisper--or so I thought. at one point The drummer goes on and gives another lecture about how he can't drum and listen to ppl at the same time--in fairness my table was inches away from the saxophone so idk... i felt like the first announcement should have more accurately told us to not speak at all-- otherwise we might break the rules. my overall sense was that this black music art form was to appreciated silently by a largely non-black audience. Kinda gave me as a black dissident of jazz musicians the absolute ick. I left feeling so upset I passed on my ride so I could walk home in the dark to blow off steam. I'd say if youve been working all day don't come here for jazz cause it will feel like more work--working to stay quiet. Actually imagine working all day and then spending the night at the library --for fun..I felt at my grown age-- like a delinquent for whispering too loudly ‍.At one point someone in my party cut her chicken with the knife too loudly and we all froze uncomfortably. I did very much enjoy my wine and I found the server to be the only relaxed person in this place. Anyways won't be bringing anymore out of towners here to get yelled at like we did on Sunday. Happy Juneteenth

Yelp
Went here for some drinks after work with coworkers and we had a great time. Very cool vibe inside, and the drinks were delicious. We also had a pepperoni and peppers pizza that was very good. Lastly the bartenders were great and we would definitely return.

Yelp
I visited this place before dinner during a weekend bachelorette party, and it was one of the highlights of the whole trip! We went down the driveway by mistake when we first arrived but when we found the front door I was so very surprised to see the speakeasy on the first floor of the building. I don't drink, but the folks I was with enjoyed their drinks. I ordered this pepper and cherries chocolate chip cookie creation. It was delicious!

Yelp
I am still disgusted by my experience at Sunday Jazz. I've been there before but not at the start of the set. And never so close to the artists.  My eyebrows were up with the staff announcement on bullhorn that patrons should speak loud enough for the person next to them to hear, but not loud enough to be heard across the bar because no one wants to hear about your Aunt Sharon's kidney stones. It just seemed like something adults shouldn't have to hear.  Into the set and after a few questions amongst our party, an artist on the bullhorn indicated that it was hard to do what they do while people are speaking loudly, that there is seating on the patio if people wanted to talk and that it is like having a conversation with someone while another is loud-talking over. It felt apparent that the message was directed at us and we looked at each other confused because we weren't talking loudly (but may have been perceived to be because we were seated almost on top of the artists). I listened carefully for almost the rest of the set (not to the music - but) to determine if anyone in the audience was speaking and thus learned that the expectation is almost complete silence. To say it was uncomfortable was an understatement. I don't mind following the culture of any space, but there are a few things I'd recommend that the business can prepare patrons for:  First, let people know that the expectation is not quiet talk, but silence, at least if you reserve a table. This can easily be noted at the reservation stage. Remove tables in earshot of artists or let those people know before they put down their money what the expectation is. Alternatively, let people know at the reservation stage that if they might be asking people how their food and drink is or anything else that they should reserve a patio seat. Have enough food for the reserved tables (I reserved these seats 10 days in advance). I was shocked not to be able to order what our table wanted (maybe 4-5 dishes were left) and the glass of wine I ordered was substituted (I'm so glad the server gave me a sample and checked first). Last, be clear about the culture of your space and how a respectful way to protect it (e.g. if anyone was too loud, it would be easy enough for a server or other staff to whisper to or send a note to a table).  I've never been humiliated in a room of strangers (and don't recommend it to anyone - especially the night before it's time to go back to work). No one person there or a collective was more important that me or my party. Nobody needs to pay almost $20 a plate and drink to be disrespected - it's not 'exclusive or hip' it's more like cliquey and wrong-spirited.

Yelp
Courtland is a low key and friendly cocktail bar to grab drinks and simple bites. It could easily be mistaken for a dungeon you'd see in a movie like Hostel or Saw where you are never seen or heard of again, but that's the charm of it all. So if you're going here for a first date just now you are in safe hands. We sat in the outside patio area which didn't have much decor, but it doesn't need it. The patio did close at 11pm because it's in a mostly residential area. We got here on Friday night and it was young, down to earth looking crowd. Busy, but not overwhelming. Our server was stylish and friendly and made sure to check in on us frequently. Their menu is fairly simple--they offer goldfish crackers, beans, olives, potatoes, broccoli, shrimp, ice cream, cookies and pizza. That's most of their menu right there. I ordered the Margarita Pizza and it was medium sized and got pretty luke warm pretty quickly. However It was salivating, juicy and crispy. Overall it's a cool little spot and I highly recommend if you're looking for a chill bar to hang with friends.

Yelp
Really relaxing bar that's just perfectly dimly lit accented by the light shining in through a stained glass window. It's got a good amount of seating. Staff are friendly. The drinks are phenomenal, some of the best I've had in Providence. They're just really well balanced, not too strong and full of flavorful, fresh ingredients. We got a couple food items and while I loved the wings, I was NOT a fan of the pizza. However I liked everything else so much I'm not even deducting a star. The drinks were that damn good.

Yelp
Love this speakeasy! Happy to see it has expanded a bit in the recent years. The ambience is perfect for night caps with friends or a date. Service was great and the staff are awesome. Drinks are made well and they always change up the menu. Haven't eaten there yet but will next time I visit!

Yelp
I went on a Sunday Jazz night and it was really nice. The parking situation was a bit odd just due to its in a neighborhood so I had to park a couple blocks away. Since it's winter, it's a bit cold and inconvenient. This place is a bit on the pricey side and the portions aren't that big, but sometimes you have to pay for the vibe and I loved the vibe. Our server wasn't too attentive but that's okay, we understand. The jazz musicians were amazing (leland baker quartet). We're excited to come back in the future, but definitely not an every weekend type of place, just to spare my wallet a bit.

Yelp
Update 2021: Was lucky enough to land a few seats for Jazz Night featuring the Leland Baker Trio. Score. I was shocked when the bartender Laura said " you are the guy that wrote that nice review". Talk about an amazing memory. Matches her skill sets behind the bar. She was new when we met her but not anyone. Seasoned vet. That Gal can sling it with the best of anyone I've run across in the City. She is that good! The whole place makes you feel warm and welcome. Everyone on staff is just so attentive and nice. And I love it when someone remembers you almost TWO years after you last were in their place. Snacks. Cocktails. Music. What the F more could you want on a Sunday night? Go there and you will see what I see.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here. I was looking forward to checking this place out since I just moved to the area. I walk in, it's half empty and the hostess said she can't seat us because we didn't have a reservation. Instead, we had to sit outside where it's below 30. Needless to say, we went somewhere else. Probably not coming back!

Yelp
Probably one of the best kept secrets in Providence. Hoping it doesn't get too crowded or change anytime soon. Love this speakeasy, its close to Federal hill but in an unsuspecting neighborhood. Love the ambiance, decor and old brick wall with the weird movie that's usually playing. Cocktails are amazing here, the most popular is Mother Theresa but their King gimlet is equally good. I have tried the Japanese julep which was so so and also Lupini martini which is usually somewhat frozen and very strong and comes with a side of Lupini beans. They do have a wine and beer selection as well. Their food menu changes, wasn't impressed with their initial menu except for the Chourico. Summer bread wasn't great. But recently visited again and loved their pork shoulder and rice with pigeon peas. Totally heavenly. Service is usually pretty good. Its not that big of a space and parking is what's available around the neighborhood. Overall great place. Cocktails are somewhat pricey (around 14$) but really good.

Yelp
Great place to stop on a date night for a app and drink little pricey but atmosphere and service were great good music around nine!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place for dinner/drinks! My friend and I tried 3 drinks and all were strong and uniquely flavored. The furikake pizza was a bit too salty for my taste (but makes sense since there were anchovies on every slice). The crab/polenta cake was delicious though! They also were playing a movie projected onto their back wall so definitely a cute ambiance. Heads up that the restaurant is unmarked so you can enter through the patio if you're confused, otherwise the front door is pretty discreet.

Yelp
This place is like a speakeasy, there's no sign outside and it's in a neighborhood of similar looking buildings, so you should know what you're looking for! The inside has a hipster vibe - they were projecting obscure movies on the back wall (without sound) - but the patrons were really varied, definitely not all hipsters. I like that there's table service, and our waitress was also a bartender, so she knew a lot of detail about each drink and was able to make suggestions for cocktails we might like. The cocktails are upscale and adventurous, I ordered a vodka lemonade but they didn't have lemonade so the bartender created a unique drink for me that ended up being more delicious than my original order! This was a great place to go with a small group of people who wanted to talk to each other and enjoy a cocktail!

Yelp
My girlfriends and I came to Courtland Club to start off our dirty 30 birthday bash. We started off with a round of why seemed like really thought out and carefully crafted cocktails. One of the girls got the mezcal cocktail and she was having a really hard time drinking it. The server graciously exchanged her drink for the Gemini cocktail. I had the Wimbledon which is made with gin and a lot of other tasty flavors. We tried all of the appetizers on the right hand side of the menu. The kimchi potato skins were were unanimously chosen as the favorite. I probably wouldn't order the calamari again tho - they were dry and lacking flavor. Even tho the food and drinks were very close to 5 stars I had to give four because there are some parts of the restaurant that didn't seem totally thought out. Maybe the outdoor area is new but it was blasé with no ambiance. The inside of the bar is very dark - I get that it's a speakeasy vibe but I wouldn't have been able to sit inside and enjoy myself with such low light. The bathroom was also extremely dark which makes it hard to tell whether or not it's clean.

Yelp
The mystery is revealed. Brilliant interior. Classy, cool. Vintage Crugnale bakery ovens line the back wall. This place has a story of an original bakery, an Italian social club turned 21st century hipster bar and eatery. The cocktails created by Laura are liquid perfection. I started with the Leo, then tried the mother Theresa. The charred broccoli and lamb meatballs are delicious. Lupini beans are a different salty snack. Dallas the bartender was friendly for a hipster. Welcoming Vibes. And I'll bring visiting friends here for a cocktail and a story...

Yelp
I had a great experience here and will be a regular here as it's in my neighborhood! Came here on a random Wednesday night for some fancy cocktails on my birthday and was not disappointed. ITS HARD TO FIND. Because of the speak easy theme you actually feel like you're breaking into someone's home but then it turns into this awesome hipster bar set up. Drinks are great and food is delicious, on the pricey side for a reason all of it is really well crafted. It's an intimate scene that I'd compare to the dean hotel bar or the Avery but a little bigger and more accommodating for a group. Great date spot for real conversation and a nice drink option. I wouldn't go hungry but you can get a small snack for sure. Place on providence to check out for sure!!!

Yelp
So this place is pretty cool. You have to know it's there or you will never find it so write down the address. We got there 45 minutes after opening time and the door was locked. They had forgotten to unlock the door but luckily they did answer the phone. We loved the interior and the drinks. The pistachios were also good. The staff was nice. This would be a cool date spot. It was not busy by the time we left around 7 on Saturday.

Yelp
Been here a few times for drinks. The atmosphere inside is what you'd expect of a speak easy. Most recently we visited on a Sunday and sat on the patio. The place was hopping. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Fair selection of beers. While we didn't have food, a few tables around us did and it looked good. I

Yelp
I can't recommend Courtland Club enough. As much as I'd like to keep this special place a secret, I can't help but recommend it to everyone I know who lives in or is visiting Providence. The food and cocktail menu changes frequently but I've never had a bad dish or drink. The staff makes you feel extra welcome with their fantastic recommendations and the wonderful array of music that plays throughout the space. Please do yourself a favor and check our Courtland Club as soon as possible.

Yelp
This place has it all. The cocktails. The pizza. The vibe. When I want to feel super badass, or show off my city, or have a drink that's as beautiful as it is delicious, I'm going to go to Courtland Club. Built inside an old Crugnale bakery, you can still see where the old brick ovens used to be in the back. Then it was overtaken by a slew of clubs, and that's the scene they've painted inside. There are drink lockers for paying club members, special events, and privileges (like reserving a table), but it's by no means exclusive. Don't let the keypad on the door fool you. I've had every cocktail so far except the King's gimlet (it's next on my list). The Mother Theresa is the much acclaimed drink with stars in it--it's the most beautiful drink I've ever had. If I liked tequila I'd get it every time. I love the sweet potato mule and the celery sidecar, both very refreshing. The menu has a Portuguese and Japanese influence, and the dishes change seasonally. (I wouldn't come starving because it's a small menu, but you can definitely share some small plates). If you can snag the Courtland Clams app or a POW (pizza of the week), I highly recommend it! I'll be back, and I'll be bringing the gang with me!

Yelp
Charming bar with high quality drinks. Love the seasonal menu and rustic decor. Great place for cocktails.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. Why you ask? Because if you read my other reviews I don't half ass this. I routinely recommend this place to friends, out of town guests and business associates. Keep up the amazing work. Don't change baby.

Yelp
UPDATE: Card issue was fixed. UPDATE: Called the manager to get this settled, she was concerned and is looking into it. Changed my 1-star to 3 stars. Hoping it's fixed soon, if not I will bring the matter to my bank. Me and two friends went to Courtland Club last night. The interior looks super cool. Our waitress was nice, and I definitely appreciated the outdoor seating. Didn't much like my cocktail, which was well-made but didn't agree with me- I didn't send it back because that choice was on me and my partner liked it so he finished it. My meatball sub was okay, mostly scoring points because it wasn't coated in tomato sauce and had just the right amount of cheese. The bread was pretty heckin' burnt though, which was disappointing because the menu said it was made in-house and I was looking forward to it. My partner's cookie didn't come until my other friend and I were at a stopping point with our snacks, and it was indeed homemade but honestly kinda small and underwhelming. The tab came to $71, which was fine for our first real night out in a while, except the waitress ran my card for $128 and I am so glad I caught it and asked her to make the correction. It was taking a while for her to come back w my card, so we went inside by the bar to wait so she would t have to come all the way back out to find us. I *think* the mistake was taken care of but I took pictures of the receipts anyway just in case I have to go to the bank to correct it. The waitress was nice enough but kept pulling her mask down to talk to the customers, which is hella unnerving. I don't think I will be back. Maybe at a less busy time, but too much about that place was too stressful. I looked at my bank app this morning, and I was charged the $128 and the $71!!! I will be calling the club when they open, and am hoping that I can change the stars on this review should they decide to fix the mistake themselves without issue. Maybe it was just an off night with not enough help. Fingers crossed!

Yelp
I sort of want to give this 3.5 stars, but I would lean more towards 4 then 3 so here we are! First off - my drink had edible gold stars in it - fancy as all heck. Secondly, my companion ate pretty much her entire pizza of the day sans one slice, so the food is definitely delicious. Not much of a full menu, but enough snacks and picky things to entice. I am not sure I understand the members aspect to this place, but I definitely felt a little out of place as a "non-member". We had to wait a particularly long time for a second drink and felt a little shafted compared to the service others were receiving. Also as a side comment for some reason the music kept changing volume from "this is a normal restaurant volume" to "WE ARE IN THE LOUDEST NIGHTCLUB EVER" volume. It was interesting to say the least :) All in all it was a fun time. The servers were very educated on their wines and everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was definitely a quirky little joint that I think would make a great date spot and absolutely worth a visit!

Yelp
Visited Courtland Club early on a Thursday afternoon and was the only couple there. Everything was just perfect!! Dominica waiter on us and was very knowledgeable about the preparation of food and attentive while not being overbearing. We had...... Drink: Celery sidecar Japanese Julep Eat: Chourico Pate Chocolate cookie The menu is simple but the flavors are definitely not. The flavor combinations are complex and well thought out. Presentation of the food was great too. Every component of each dish served a purpose on the plate and complimented the dish perfectly Must try chocolate cookie with cherry and black pepper topped with a creme fraiche ice cream! Cozy vibe. Great menu. Must try!!

Yelp
Cool, Dee the bartender A little secret speakeasy style craft cocktails bar. Featuring cool New Age music and small plate top quality apps. They frequently play old classic movies on the brick walls to entertain. Our bartender was spot on and crafted up a few of her favs for us. All top quality ingredients. Delicious, you can really tell the difference. Now, you pay for this difference, about 10-13 bucks for a cocktail. However, your not stopping here to get drunk. The point is relax, enjoy a great cocktail, a small app, and talk. A lost art these days. Hidden gem Thanks

Dina K.

Yelp
Courtland Club is a great place with a special vibe and great cocktails. However, I was really disappointed on their 'Thanks Taco' dinner event when we arrived for our scheduled booking only to find out the food menu had already been sold out! For a reservation that was difficult to find and a popular event, you'd think the kitchen would be prepared for the number of guests expected throughout the night. Why offer bookings in the later hours without preparing for it? The service has also been very slow on recent visits.

Yelp
A cool unique speak easy setting off of Broadway. There is only street parking, but once you found a spot to park the rest is a breeze. There is a small bar and there are also tables set up to kick back and relax. The drinks were all fantastic and it the food was incredible. I wasn't expecting the food menu to be so small, but since it was, I was forced to try several options that I probably wouldn't have. My favorite was the Raw Fish Bowl. Shockingly, this was better than any Poke Bowl I've ever had. Everything was fresh and cooked to order in the little kitchen passed as you walk in. There was a movie playing on in the background projected onto the wall. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and prompt. This is a great spot for a date since it is quiet and offers unique options that are great conversation pieces...especially the notebook that comes out with the bill. Cocktail and food options are mainly $10 and up.

Yelp
The drinks were sooooo yummy and omg the food!!!!! I went for my bday with my bday twin and we were so pleased. Staff is friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and the fooood was to die for. The shrimp cocktail and the potatoes fingerlings

Caroleena V.

Yelp
Love the drinks, and I have enjoyed the food before. I went a few days ago and the food was salty. The kitchen can be a hit or miss sometimes. We usually order the wings, broccoli and pasta - and it's always amazing but so salty. Pasta was mushy. Food from earlier this summer was spot on tho!

Yelp
What a pleasure. Fantastic cocktails in a unique space, great background music and cartoons. You have to go just to see the place! Good to very good food, but a little pricey. I think the ingredients were top notch but I'd like to see some cheaper options, even if less exquisite.

Yelp
Such a lovely, intimate space run by friendly, community minded folks. Full disclosure that I met Jason long before the space opened and we collaborated on film screenings. Good for snacks and they make stellar, well presented cocktails. Have been by for ice cream since the pandemic started and planning to go by before they close down for a few month hiatus. Definitely a place I'm thrilled to support.

Yelp
I love this place. A great cozy little spot where a reservation is pretty much necessary. A little outdoor patio area with another on the way. Jazz music twice in Sundays!! a brief but excellent menu and the cocktails are fantastic. These aren't run-of-the-mill drinks but carefully crafted cocktails that are reasonably priced and tasty -- worth savoring. I moved to RI a few months ago and this will become a new favorite spot of mine!

Yelp
Courtland Club, the west side pvd semi-secret cocktail bar, at the current moment may or may not become a members-only club, but it DEFinitely it has some of the best stinkin' cocktails in the city. Combined with a dapper dandy for host (hi Ignacio!), good bar snacks and pizza, comfy seating, and being in a quieter less crowded neighborhood so you can actually hear conversation you're having, it all equals out to be a higher than average probability of good times to be had. Enjoy it now before the growing crowds make it impossible to get a really well made stiff drink, especially cocktails. The only thing keeping this bar being the perfect hangout for me is the missing french fries to soak up all the tasty cocktails. Did I mention the really really really good cocktails? COCKTAILS!!!

Yelp
Such a unique place! Saw it online and knew I wanted to visit right away. It's tucked away on a side street in the middle of a bunch of houses so you would never know it's there. This just adds to the mystery of the place. When you walk in, it's dark and intimate. There's a small bar, some tables, and a lounge area. They bring over damp hot hand towels when you first sit down to keep you warm - cool idea! There's candles lit everywhere, stained glass windows, and you get vibes of being in a secret club that no one knows about. Everyone inside was super friendly and inviting. They have awesome cocktails, some beer, and lots of wines and spirits (also food which we didn't try). The cocktails were all very different sounding. I tried the Mother Theresa cocktail which was made with beet juice complete with edible stars. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Finally tried this place and it wasn't disappointing or overhyped! Definitely super loud inside though. Initially I was annoyed with the table next to us because they were yelling but I totally understood why they were 10 minutes later. They were probably also a little drunk. The drinks are definitely strong but go down like juice. We came here after a movie for a night cap. Still ordered the double chocolate chip cookie with black pepper, cherries and vanilla ice cream. Honestly, I didn't read the menu before hand and just wanted dessert so I got that. I was super shocked when I bit into and got a mouthful of black pepper. It tasted like a normal delicious hot chocolate chip cookie then out of no where, bam, hit with spicy black pepper. I would probably look at the menu more and try different things. I didn't catch any of the servers names but we got hot towels to start which was super nice and refreshing. Then I had the mother Theresa which had mezcal, beet juice and gold stars. It tasted like juice with a hint of smoke from the mezcal. It wasn't too smoky. Also had a Japanese julep. It was made with Japanese whiskey (prolly suntory) and a shiso leaf. I think I drank this wrong. I took a bite of the shiso garnish which was covered in furikake and was like why is this so salty. Didn't realize I had to muddle my own leaf in. So I probably just had a glass of whiskey in ice.... Overall the service is nice and the drinks are great. It's just a tad too loud to have a conversation. I also don't like a lot of ice in my drinks. The price is kind of high but it's small and cute. Would probably go back to try the food. It's also too dark to take photos and I didn't want to embarrass myself with flash.

Yelp
Is it a house? Is it a bar? Is it a little of both? The Courtland is an awesome hidden gem on the West Side of Providence that is the perfect spot to grab a delicious and creative cocktail and a light snack or dessert. The bar is on a side street and is basically smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood. When you pull up to the bar you will think you are about to walk into someone's house unannounced, but do not fear you are in the right place my friend. When I walked in I was thrown off because the setup of the bar is not what you would expect. There is a small bad in the middle a few tables and then lounge like seating in the back. There is no TV, but they have a projector for what I assume gets used from time to time. They do serve food and have a tiny kitchen that you can look into when you walk in. The service is extremely polite and attentive. They actually provided us with warm wash clothes for our hands and face, which I've never had before at a bar and now I feel like I need to have this all the time. The drink menu is short and sweet and they offer a variety of beers as well. They have cool purple and pink lighting that sets a relaxed and laid back ambiance throughout the bar. The bartenders were engaging and funny and were always willing to explain the drinks as well and offer recommendations. I had a basil and rum type drink that was so refreshing. When you take a sip of the drink and smell the fresh basil at the same time it is amazing. My girlfriend had some sort of sweet potato drink. It sounds odd, but it was delicious and went down like water. We did not try any food, but some of our friends had some sort of chocolate dessert that they enjoyed. The Courtland is definitely for small groups I would say four is the max amount of people you want to bring because seating is limited. I would say it's a better pre-game or late night drink place to go to. It is not really a bar to spend hours upon hours at for the night. I had a great experience and will certainly be coming back.

Yelp
I'm going to begin this with a usual caveat that I do not mind higher prices as long as the workers are being paid well. I hope they are, and I'd probably bump my review up to a 5 if I could verify. That being said, I had a great experience here with friendly service, a tasty but expensive ($14) drink, and great food. Came here specifically for their El Rancho Grande collaboration night, so the food I ate isn't what they normally have, but now I want to come back to try the usual offerings because what we ate was SO GOOD. ... Next paycheck. I'm definitely not the target audience here. It's a little more expensive and a little more fancy than what I'm used to. It's not exactly comfy what with the awkward situation where you can tell some people are members/regulars and it made me feel a little out of place. NOT the fault of the people working here, they were super friendly regardless. Just kind of a weird dynamic. All in all, a great place to come on a night where I want to go someplace swanky and splurge on carefully crafted drinks. (I have to try their sweet potato cocktail, I'm so curious)

Yelp
I never knew this place existed until I walked past it a few weeks ago and saw they were serving ice cream. It wasn't a good day for it when I walked past, but today I went by after a long bike ride in the sun. I got the peach lemongrass sorbet and the chocolate miso caramel swirl. Both were really good, and the peach sorbet was exactly the refreshing fruity cold treat I wanted after biking. A silver lining of COVID is that this place is serving ice cream and that I discovered it.

Yelp
Amazing menu and decor.* Highly recommend. *Don't order chorizo. It's $5 store bought kielbasa that is dressed up with a fire plate thing that totally doesn't fit the otherwise amazing venue and menu.

Yelp
I really like this spot. It's bigger and has more room than most speakeasys. We sat at the bar and then moved on to a quiet corner. I had the watermelon frozen margarita, and although I'm not a fan of watermelon, it was good. 1 is def my max though. I liked the fact that the staff/bartenders were very nice and attentive, which is more than I can say for a lot of the places around. We will def be back to try food.

Yelp
Wow this place is a hidden gem in Providence...Great great cocktails..Gotta have the mother Teresa...Also the Japanese Julep..mesmerizing cocktails! The service is outstanding... They give you a hot towel whenever you enter....what? I know right...hot towels like the airlines...pretty cool...the staff are super courteous. They pair the weirdest things on the menu and guess what it tastes awesome... Dont hold back on trying something that doesn't sound right, you'll be surprised. Great place will go back for a rotational menu.

Yelp
I met a group of my friends here on a Saturday night and the server and manager were incredibly rude to one of us. They cut my friend off and then grabbed his drink out of his hand while he was sitting at the table about to drink it. They called him obnoxious which is incredibly rude and obnoxious of them. Just because someone is having a good time, laughing, and joking doesn't mean he's drunk and you should be unprofessional to him. The actions of the staff were completely unwarranted and an apology is owed to us.

Yelp
Tucked away from the city of Providence, a small little speakeasy, minimal food menu but fun drink selection. Cool little surprises through- worth checking out if you're looking for something different.
