I'm a Marriott Gold Elite member because I travel on business and prefer to stay at Marriott hotels. There are nicer Marriott hotels in the area, including a Residence Inn that just opened up a few years ago. However, our corporate travel policy restricts us to a certain price point to which only this Marriott location satisfies.
The only thing nice about this place is the lobby. They don't offer complimentary breakfast. The rest of the building (i.e., the rooms, the elevators, etc.) is pretty outdated compared to other places.
Even the Hunt Valley Inn (a Wyndham hotel), located across the street, has recently undergone a massive renovation. I recently stayed there against my will because the 2 previous times were very UNPLEASANT because of the filthy, bug-infested accommodations. Plus, our company has a corporate rate. I was pleasantly surprised because of the upgrades they've done...the place even smelled new. But this review is about the Marriott Courtyard.
OK, I get it. It's a Courtyard. But I've stayed in nicer Courtyards...much nicer.
PRICE: You get what you paid for, I suppose. For less than $150, you get a room with 2 queen beds. Nothing fancy...nothing special.
FRONT DESK STAFF: Friendly as they come. I've been coming to this dump periodically for 2 years and the crew has been very friendly 100% of the time. Seriously, I've stayed at the Embassy Suites (next door, which includes a complimentary breakfast) and the Hunt Valley Inn (across the street) - but the staff was just OK.
As outdated as this hovel may be, I'll likely keep coming back because the price is right...the beds are clean [for the most part]...and I need to keep my Elite status.
