Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"This Brookline Marriott offers a standard upscale experience with airy, bright rooms that include a work desk, a seating area with a sofa, and a coffee maker, plus a fitness center with cardio machines and free weights — not fancy, but comfortable and reliable." - Matthew Kepnes

The main advantage of this hotel is the location: shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The hotel itself is gloomy, the service inadequate, and the breakfast poor, low quality, yet rather expensive. The “avocado toast, as an example, is really just two slices of bread, with a thin layer of commercial guacamole, which has very little avocado in it, yet the total price, with the tax and tip, ends up being close to $20. The rooms are very dark. Natural light is poor, and the lighting consists of a couple of bed lights and you find yourself using the phone to find things in your suitcase. Service was extremely slow. We had no soap in the shower. It took an hour and a half, and a couple of reminders to get the liquid soap up to our room in the morning, while e were waiting to take a shower. We then found out that the shampoo and conditioner containers are also empty, and we just didn’t bother to notify them about it. The bed sheet was also laid inside-out. We asked for it to be replaced only to hear in length about their policy of replacing the sheets only every three days (but they did replace it in the end). Not clear how this happens, and why there is a need to negotiate to get it right.

Can’t beat the location — right in the heart of Coolidge Corner! I stayed in the 1 Bedroom Signature Suite (1 King with separate living room), and it was spacious, clean, and had a great view. The hotel itself was spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Perfect spot for a comfortable and convenient Boston getaway.

Google
Not sure but the lift always out of order. At one night both the elevators were out so I had to climb 8 floors to my room at night and down in the morning. Not so convenient if you are checking out Location wise is great so close to tram, restaurants and shops.

Google
The location of this hotel is great and the staff was courteous but for the price point it felt like management is cutting all the corners. There were 2-3 tiny threadbare towels, the drain stopper in the tub didn’t work, the plastic cutlery in the restaurant is almost unusable, we had to order an extra pillow from the front desk because there was only two on the bed (had a kid with us). Downtown prices, Motel 6 amenities.

Google
The facilities are noticeably outdated, and the staff appeared extremely disorganized when handling our reservation. The hallway and room both felt very old, with a low ceiling that created a sense of pressure. The room had very poor natural light, and the artificial lighting was so inadequate that my companion and I had to use our phone flashlights just to find items in our luggage — truly unbelievable. There were visible mold stains in the bathroom, and even the clothes we hand-washed remained damp the next day (something we never experienced at other accommodations in the U.S.). Even in the morning, the room stayed dim and gloomy. Overall, the stay felt oppressive and was completely inconsistent with the price we paid.

Google
This Courtyard has seen better days, unfortunately age has caught up with her and a remodel of the guest rooms is badly needed. The service is good, no complaints there. My room was a king and had an odd useless space, see pic, the pillows are small, worn and one was not clean. There is no art on the walls, off brand eco bulbs in lamps give off a bright cheap light, mattress is hard as a rock and uncomfortable. Luckily only 2 nights here. Avoid this hotel despite the location. 😵

Google
This location is very convenient to Coolidge Corner with nice shops and restaurants. The day we checked in, the power went out. (This clearly is not the fault of the hotel ) The elevator being out for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and almost all of Sunday was something I do blame on the hotel. When I asked the front desk if they knew when it would be back on the answer I got was “it’s not something I have anything to do with, and I have no idea.” I didn’t complain, and I wasn’t rude, but was treated as though I was. |We stayed here in a two queen room with our family of four. The room was large enough for this, but many parts weren’t set up for an easy stay for four people. The rooms are dark, and if you need to do your hair or makeup, the only place to do that is in the bathroom, which makes getting four people ready a challenge. If they had a mirror in the room where one could do that it would have been a big help. (One full length mirror- nothing to set anything on nearby, and one round mirror that was too high to be usable. )|We needed 6 bath towels for showering. Our room was stocked with three on check in, and despite asking for three extra bath towels we would get one extra and more washcloths or hand towels. I wasn’t sure what the issue was until I walked by the housekeeping closet that had very few clean towels stocked (less than 5)|The management needs to purchase more towels, that should not be a struggle for a guest. When we checked out, we had to remind them to give us the refund for the power outage night that we were told every guest from that night would automatically get. Basically, the hotel was a struggle every day all day. May be fine for 1 or 2 people, but I would never go back nor would I recommend. Also only one nightstand - not three.

Great location. Accommodating and friendly staff. Clean hotel. |One are of improvement…..Staff could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the local restaurants. |All in all a good hotel. We will book here again.

Yelp
We were in town visiting family, and wanted to stay in a cute neighborhood that was walkable since we have two littles and wouldn't have a car. The location of this Coutryard by Marriott has just about anything you could need within a 5-10 minute radius--grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores, bars, train station, and a farmer's market. Service was friendly and quick. The restaurant and Starbucks downstairs have limited hours, so if you're hungry between 10AM-4/5PM, you'll have to go grab something in town. The kiddos really enjoyed the indoor heated pool, and we appreciated that it was shallow. Rooms are spacious, but not necessarily the cleanest. We enjoyed our time at the hotel, and would consider staying here again the next time we're in Boston.

Yelp
I had a pleasant stay at this Marriott hotel. It's conveniently located just steps away from the C line, and close to lots of cool shops and restaurants! The front desk person was very helpful, especially when I needed to change my room. The hotel itself is also nice and modern. The only downside was my hotel room was right next-door to the elevator so this was a bit annoying when trying to sleep at night while the elevator was going up and down but other than that, this was a great location and I would stay here again.

Yelp
Highlights: Run-down, sub-par service, clean, and comfortable. The receptionist took no time to tell me about the site's amenities, so my visit wasn't off to a great start. The common areas are clearly recently updated, but one of the two elevators is currently broken. Outside the common spaces, it's clear that this Courtyard has seen better days. The room experience is just fine. The bed is comfortable and it has all the things I need including a desk and a safe. The windows are clearly thin because I could hear a honking horn as though I was standing next to the car. My shower ceiling was cracking and peeling away (shown in photos). Staying here because I have a nearby event to attend, but won't choose to stay here again unless I find myself in a similar situation. Note: they do have shuttles to the nearby hospital which is helpful if you are staying for that. How does this have such good reviews on Marriott's site?

Sauncy E.

Yelp
You could use upholstery clean if you are not going to remove the chair from the room.

Yelp
Hotel is beautiful and great location; However, for the amount of money we paid we were disappointed. ($857 2 nights) We couldn't control fan and thermostat, outlet by beds was loose and charger wouldn't connect, dinner in bistro was mixed up since( as we were told) chef is just learning to understand English. Last, pillows were horrible. We chose this location because it was near BID hospital and my sister needed to stay close by after surgery.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Where do I start! Room wasn't ready at 3:00, waited until 3:45. Mirrors in bathroom dirty, toilet tipped to one side. Ripped carpet & wallpaper coming off walls. Employees barely speak English. We saw our housekeeper spray chemicals into glasses that were being left for us, and then take a rag and clean them. Disgusting. I could go on and on but, in a nutshell STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE.

Yelp
Very nice, close to BU and good customer service. For students looking at BU or parents it's great.

Nancy G.

Yelp
Service in the Bistro virtually non-existent. When they do decide to wait on you feel like you have inconvenienced them. Checking out the staff member on the front desk rather rude. Pillows awful. Overpriced for the service expected at a Marriott brand hotel.
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting a family member in hospital. The location is wonderful, lots of restaurants and little shops. The check in process was easy, I was informed of all the amenities offered. Jordan at the front desk was particularly helpful in getting my shuttles rides scheduled and helping me with locating a specific shop I wanted to visit. The Bistro staff was friendly and the food was decent. My room was comfortable and spacious, and the property seemed well kept. I would absolutely stay here again when visiting.

Yelp
Great location in Coolidge Corner if you have a reason to be there. Room was clammy or dank. Had a funny smell. Just off Beacon Street so shopping and restaurants all around. Fitness Center was ok. Good water pressure in bathtub/shower. Very quiet inside. Efficient front desk staff.
google avatar

Sajjad H.

Yelp
Stayed here during 2nd week of October. Rooms were dirty. My room smelled strongly of weed. Front desk refused to change the room. I had to open the window of the room at night, while outside temp was 45. Hallways were dirty. Furniture is very dated. Customer service is hopeless. Forget about getting room turned over, they don't have courtesy to bring any supplies to your room. Front desk staff will tell you rudely to come and pick them up yourself. This is on top of horrendous and abhorrent charges that you have to pay. Every service provided by the hotel is subpar. Laundry machines don't work. The so called Pool is like a glorified bath tub, nothing more. Gym is skimpily equipped. Above all, the staff training is completely bereft of any customer service and hospitality coaching. Overall a disgusting experience

Yelp
Property was in a convenient locations, rooms were clean and put together, however the front desk attendant was what made our stay amazing! Shayla was kind, helpful and personable. Courtyard is lucky to have her on their team.

Yelp
Platinum Level Marriott goer here, went in for the night and was a great hotel. Check-in was easy, nice little arched driveway to double park and go to check in. Parking was around the back of the building to a loop under the hotel...added protection for piece of mind which is always nice. Room: Walked in and very modern, funky couch, HUGE television compared to some other locations. Modern bathroom. Comfy and clean. Saw some of the other posts, can say when you come to brookline, your not looking for a view from the hotel window. Sometimes hotels drop the ball, but overall, they stepped up their game and will 100% stay here again. Side Note: if you are looking for something close to BWHospital, this is the spot...took me 6 minutes to get there at 7am on a Friday.

Yelp
Aside from the extreme up-charge due to the weekend's massive graduation ceremonies, I could see myself with a 50/50 chance of returning to give this hotel another try. Gripe 1, having to wait an additional hour to check in due to the slow turnover of rooms. It makes me no never mind what is going on in town, hotels need to have their staff or extra staff on hand to accommodate the high occupancy of guests...principally when the room rates are tripled. Gripe 2, the need to request Housecleaning to come & reset my room around 3pm the following day. The flip side, is that the Housekeeper was very apologetic & personable & even gave me some extra in-room goodies. Gripe 3, each time I needed the front desk, no one would answer after 10 rings. Therefore, I or a family member would have to go down to the front desk in person, such an inconvenience. Non gripes, the Bistro staff was accommodating when they were open. Additionally, the late night staff was kind indeed for opening our bottles of wine & providing us with wine glasses oppose to the 'rinse your mouth after your brush your teeth' bathroom cups. The prices were not as extreme as I anticipated, same goes for the mini-market tucked in the corner by the ATM. For your grab-n-go they offered compact meals, non alcoholic beverages, snacks & personal items. Side note, don't ever waste your money on microwavable frozen pizza...if the young teenagers can't stomach it, you know it's horrible. Our rooms were modernized & comfy, with free WiFi, movable flat screen TV's, & a mini fridge. The dresser is designed as an old school trooper footlocker, a cool & retro touch. The lobby, furniture & decor was contemporary & staged well done. The property is a quick walk to various stores, eateries, the Coolidge Corner Trolley Stop, & a few miles to Fenway Park & Harvard Square. If I can get a better rate under $250 (even with my corporate code) & assurance my room will be reset without asking, & the front desk will answer the phone, the percentage in me returning could increase a tad bit.

Yelp
What a dump...they tell you everything is great....NOTHING DOES work...it isn't... Tub from shower is filled with water, remote only works if you STAND directly in front of TV, any allergies like mine to feather pillows....they are there...get ready for Hospitalization...even if it's on your Marriott Profile... Never Stay Here!!!!

Yelp
I was staying in Brookline for one night only, for a work event. I got in around 2 PM and unfortunately my room wasn't ready. The girl checking me and was so sweet and she told me she would give me a call as soon as it was ready. She said I would probably only have about a half hour wait. She was exactly right. She found me in the lobby a half-hour later and my room was ready. I received a complimentary upgrade to a king suite on a high-level. It was beautiful. It overlooked the entire city with a breathtaking view and a very spacious and accommodating room. Sometimes with a Courtyard Marriott, you end up getting a really nice property, and other times it is a tad more basic and uniform. This was an occasion of having a beautiful property. They offer a fitness center that is 24 hours. Also, an indoor pool, a small snack and beverage station, as well as a restaurant open for breakfast and for dinner that also includes a bar. Of course they have their outdoor, courtyard area as well as beautiful lounge area. The customer service was great, everybody was so kind! I loved the area, as well. I didn't know too much about Brookline, but I was excited to discover everything. I walked outside and there was so much to do. There is many bars, restaurants, shopping, and even theater and entertainment. My only issue is that I was only staying for one night! Everything seemed to be going perfect until it was time to go to sleep. At about 3 o'clock in the morning I could've sworn there was a drilling convention being hosted right outside of my room. There were power drills, hammers, and just about every annoying construction noise one could imagine. I thought to myself, this can't last for too long. What would the residents of Brookline have to say about this? I used my mobile chat to reach out to hospitality within the hotel. They got back to me and said that they went outside and couldn't hear anything but they could move my room. I thought to myself, the only thing more annoying than this drilling noise is the thought of having to pick up all of my stuff and move at 4 o'clock in the morning. I'm not exaggerating when I say this continued all the way until the morning. I wanted to sleep in but I figured I might as well wake up because I wasn't really getting sleep anyways. Aside from the lack of sleep, and annoying sounds, I was really just upset because I was having a perfect stay up until this happened. For how much money it was to stay there, it was really disappointing that that was my experience. Unfortunately, because of that nightmare of a nighttime experience, I probably wouldn't return to that property because I would never know if that situation would arise again. I do want to recognize that the customer service and property was beautiful.

Yelp
Review for parking garage only. See Sheb -- the manager -- if you need a few days overnight parking while staying in the neighborhood. We rented an apartment in nearby Brighton for a few nights where overnight parking is kinda like NYC - scarce. The Marriott was a suggested choice and I am glad we took this route. The parking is secure underground and Sheb is a gentleman. He will hook you up -- and our place was a short 10 minute tram ride away. In and out as often as you need. All good -- as are some of the neighborhood restaurants. :)

Yelp
I was staying here for 1 night.. checked in from the app.. my flight getting into Boston was delayed by 1.5 hours so I called the hotel at 9.45pm when I was in the Uber on my way to the hotel and 13 minutes away to request them to let me place an order with their in-house cafe... I was starving!!! The cafe was officially to be open until 10pm. I explained the situation and requested them to let me place my order and told them I'd pay once I reach or they could put the bill on my room/ account. But they refused and turns out the cafe had shut much before I even called!

Yelp
This review is specifically for the front desk staff, Dean and Lindsay. They did a FANTASTIC job helping my group get checked in tonight. Dean went out of his way to interact with all of our group and made them feel welcomed and special. Lindsay took charge when it turned out someone had blocked the space for our bus and handled business! I couldn't be happier with the service from both of them. Courtyard Brookline, you've got gold with Dean and Lindsay!

Yelp
I have stayed at MANY hotels due to the traveling nature of my work but this hotel was by far in the top five lists of my all time favorite hotels ever. I'll start with how we were greeted. A gentleman by the mame of Eldair greeted us and made sure we were taken care of from the moment we walked on. He was professional but easy to talk to. This being my first time in the area he took the time to share with us the layout of the area we were in and made suggestions as to where we might want to go. Then there was Michelle. She was astonishing. Her level of professionalism combined with making sure we felt at home made this trip for us. She went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our stay. WHEN I come back to Boston there's no doubt I know where I'm staying. I can only hope these two are still there. Kudos to the manager here because you obviously have done a great job. Thank you!

Yelp
Where do I start? I booked 2 rooms three months in advance online and my rooms were as far apart as you can get! I mean what do you think it means when someone books 2 rooms at once? I was annoyed by the rooms location and we got in late and since you get people who basically are stuck with whatever broom closet you hand them at 10 pm at night, they get away with disrespecting the clients. I paid a disgraceful amount for those rooms, probably a Super 8 would have been nicer not to mention half the price. I felt the rooms cleanliness was not what I'd expect from Marriott. I found a disgusting open water bottle behind the curtain, and the room was very dusty. My allergies went into overdrive. There's a lot more to cleaning rooms than emptying garbage and replenishing towels. The beds weren't very comfortable like they used to be at the Marriott. They used to have the most comfortable beds now it's like a low-grade mattress with a padded mattress pad on it. FYI....there is no disguise for a bad mattress. The shower water pressure was terrible. The Starbuck's coffee downstairs was laughable. I don't even think there was coffee in it, it was milk water. Again, disguising a LATTE with water, $8 worth. My husband tried to return it but they had closed, how convenient. Overall, I'd like to say that I got what I paid for, but that would be a lie.
google avatar

Yonnie C.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this hotel is rated so low, but our experience here was fantastic. We only stayed 1 night (using points) but had a great 2 double beds room, which was large (had sofa too!) and elevators were fast / convenient, and there was a fridge inside too. They even let us check out at 4 pm since we had a special circumstance, we are thankful.

Yelp
My company booked me on their cc. The desk asked me for a cc for incidentals and charged the entire stay on my personal credit card. Poor experience with the desk- resulting in a headache and wasted time. Stay was mediocre - not clean. Saw a mouse in the dinning area.

Yelp
Check in was easy. The staff we're very friendly. Clean, nice location a lot of restaurants within walking distance plus there is a CVS close by.

Yelp
Is a really great place for our stay in Boston. We went to see several universities for my daughter and the proximity to downtown Boston and all the universities is great. I strongly recommend this courtyard and the staff is so helpful

Yelp
Comfortable enough, and a great location, but lots of areas for improvement. I asked for an extra blanket since the blankets are paper thin and not warming at all. I got a scratchy cheap blanket that apparently they will give you if you do not ask for a better one. Sneaky, and not so cool. Why give guests a sub par experience when you have the means to give them an exceptional one? The whole two weeks I stayed here, my phone never worked properly when I tried to call the front desk. I asked them to fix it and they never did. I also asked them for something else--probably to send up that blanket--and they completely forgot so I had to go down again and ask. It happens, I know. Having a mini fridge in the room is great and the amenities in general were good. My bathroom light would sometimes go strobe on me but whatever. The pool is a joke. You can do nothing more than float in the center of it because it is so shallow and so small that you can't even swim a lap. The jacuzzi was grimy, as is visible by putting on some goggles. Yum. The desk staff was not professional: young, flustered, and overwhelmed by everything. They were only on their A-game when a guy in a suit, who was probably a manager, was hanging out by the desk in the morning, calling out hearty "good morning"s to everyone. The rest of the time, they were pretty sloppy.
google avatar

Saige M.

Yelp
Had a good experience here! The room was nicely decorated and clean and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the view from our window - an alley and a solid brick wall. The parking garage was a little pricey although convenient and you expect to pay more to park overnight in the city. This place is close to some bars and restaurants as well so there are things to do nearby.

Rae H.

Yelp
Checking in was a great experience everyone working at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. We had to have a person come to check out the ac unit and they were very nice as well. The area the hotel is at is pretty nice it is about 10-15 minute care ride to Nubury street. I got the feeling that things stop working all of the time. For example the heating/ ac in our room stopped working and the person that fixed it said it happens often. All throughout the hotel there are little things like paint chipping on furniture and dirty vents. The room was really cute but it was lacking cleanliness in my opinion. I wish I took pictures but dust was definitely seen, dirty vents, ceiling has water damage, and bed is not comfy compared to most average hotels. The worst part of the stay was the man working behind the bard in the lounge at the hotel. I do not recommend hanging there he made it very clear he did not want to be working. Made me and my mom uncomfortable even though he was a bar tender and we were ordering coffees he called us, " a lot of work" so bad experience and would not recommend the lounge area.

Yelp
I have always loved staying at Marriott and Hyatt hotels. I had a 2 days work orientation that was held at this hotel. The hotel itself is very nice and spacious. One thing I regret is purchasing from their little store within their lobby. It was definitely a small section that had chips, mainly snacks, drinks and microwavable foods. Since I was going out to eat for dinner, I only purchased chips and a 20 oz soda. After consuming more than a handful of chips and soda, I thought the chips were a bit stale but not sure if it was my taste buds but needed something to get by until I was out for dinner. The following day, my boyfriend saw the bag and it had dated "JAN 31," mind you this is the mid of June 2017. I was very disgusted at the fact their staff does not look at their inventory or check for expiration on their products. That is probably why the chips tasted stale since it has been over 6 months of the "best by/guaranteed fresh by" date! I reached out to the chips company and currently waiting on a response. Services: 3/5 Food: 3/5 Cleanliness: 4/5

Jill J.

Yelp
Very shabby, run down and overpriced. The common areas (hallways, elevators) were all very dirty. It didn't look like the elevators had been vacuumed once in the three days I was there, and the carpeting in the hallways is so far gone the only solution is to replace them. My room just felt not up to the standards of other Courtyards I've stayed in recently (chipped paint, chipped bathtub, dirty vent, etc.) Also, every single time I left my room my key stopped working so I always had to go to the desk to get it fixed. There are much nicer hotels in that area for that price.

Rob V.

Yelp
Poorly maintained property and lots of "promises" from the front desk which were never fulfilled. 1) housekeeping would be in every other day (not true), 2) supposed to have microwave sent to room (had to request 3 times), 3) shroud fell off heating / cooling unit in the middle of the first night, 4) "fixed" shroud feel off heating / cooling unit in the middle of the second night, 5) told they have gluten-free options in the on-site "restaurant" (was told by front desk during inquiry via phone prior to arrival to verify); ended up being coffee, 6) glass shower doors had metal bottoms falling off and full,of soap scum, 7) stains all over the couch, 8) toilet loose from the floor and wobbled all over, 9) I could keep going but i think you get the message. Stayed 8 nights at this place and was finally moved to a different room on the 3rd day and was accommodated by the GM with a "free" night. Nice parking garage at $35 per night.

Cecilia C.

Yelp
This hotel does not have the usual Marriott customer service. Checked in without telling me the room number or where the gym or coin laundry at. Tissue holder was broken and ceiling had a big damage that was not repaired. Definitely will not stay here anymore.

Yelp
It was fine, could have been better. I just stayed there last week, early September, so it was still warm out but they had already took cushions off their outdoor seating. So I sat on a hard seat, which was my choice to sit outside instead of inside so that's ok. My room was so dark once the sun went down. This was even with all of the lights in the whole room turned on. It could have used two more lamps, one would have even been better. Overall, not terrible but not great. Pretty average.

Yelp
After a long day of traveling, I walked into my hotel room and there was a strong smell of mildew. The floor was soaking wet with mildew water. The bed was not made and i could see the mattress. The bath tub had hairs and dirt all around it. I called the front desk and they switched me to another room. The other room had hairs in the bathtub as well. Very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Needless to say, I did not end up staying here.

Yelp
***********DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING BLOCK HERE!!!!!!!!!******* Let's see - where to even begin. Upon booking my wedding venue I was given a contact for this hotel to reach out to in regards to blocking rooms for my guests. Originally I worked with Michael who was fantastic. About 3 months into working with Michael he left the company. From there about 3 other representatives came and went. Each time there was NO CONTINUITY and I had to call and email and search and contact my venue for the correct new contact. When I received the director of sales contact information, Colin, I was unable to reach him until I threatened to call corporate. I literally called and emailed 5-6 times within a month span never once receiving a response. Once I finally reached Colin he was professional and went over the block with me as I needed to add more rooms. (In total we blocked about 25 rooms). In the midst of all of the turnover my block was incorrect and the amount of rooms reserved didn't match what I had. No big deal, they fixed it and promised me and 11am check in as I booked a suite to get ready in and an adjoining room for 2 of my bridesmaids. While checking in on my block to see how many rooms I had left etc there were days and weeks that went by before receiving responses back from the staff. Ready for this - 9:30pm THE NIGHT BEFORE MY WEDDING, I received a call from the front desk supervisor, Josh, telling me that not only did he not have the adjoining room available but that he had no note of early check in and early check in was NOT POSSIBLE for a suite. Wait what - you call me the night before my wedding to tell me you don't have the suite available. The best they could do for me was offer me a double room and have my bridesmaids on the same floor. They comped my room but at that point I could have cared less about the money. We had a hair and makeup artist coming and 10 bridesmaids. Where was everyone supposed to get ready?!?!! This was HUGE inconvenience. HUGE. We had to get ready in two separate rooms. Lastly, we made welcome bags for our guests in which I dropped off. Upon arrival I asked one of my guests if they received the bag and they said no. I called and the front desk promised to put notes in the system to assure that everyone got the bags. When my husband checked out after the wedding 3 bags were still sitting behind the desk!!!!! I met another wedding couple in the elevator on my way out and they had the same exact issues. All in all the communication between the front desk staff and the sales office is terrible. Josh was the only person that seemed to care at all. Everyone else needs to get out of customer service ASAP because it's definitely not their strong suit. Courtyard - you need to wipe out your staff and start fresh. Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE!!!

Yelp
If I could do zero I would. Jen Paro is the general manager and honestly I never am for someone losing their job but lord, that lady needs a new job..hint hint. She proceeded to yell me through the phone and demand I was speaking "aggressive" to her bc I asked her to explain why I would pay 100 dollars more a night to extend. All while yelling/complaining why I would be paying $399 a night instead of $299 bc she is understaffed and did not see my request to extend so now I must re-reserve and pay 100 bucks more and wait for it .....- also need to move to a smaller room. The stay was over two weeks and didn't get the microwave until 3 days before departure. If I was a Marriott owner I'd be embarrassed. When I asked why I am being charged extra when she was unavailable all morning and finally returned my calls at 130pm, she responded I should be grateful she doesn't have to do me the favor. I'm still trying to figure out what the favor was??? Rude, unprofessional and needs a solid customer service training.

Yelp
I had things stolen from my room. Representatives at several levels of this Courtyard franchise repeatedly told me that I must not have closed my door securely, and that "they can't be responsible for actions of a third party." They told me at least three times that their insurance company would contact me. I never heard from anyone.

Yelp
First let me start by saying the front desk staff was very helpful and polite. May I also add the cleaning lady was even very polite. Our room was very clean and the decor was really cute. Unfortunately, that is where it all ended. The rugs in the hallway were stained. We went to eat at the Bistro (in the Marriott) tonight. Our waitress/counter girl treated us as if we had just intruded on her night. She was extremely rude and when she brought our food there was no silverware or napkins. My husband had to go and ask for those items. The waitress /counter girl became offended that he interrupted her personal conversation with a female customer and her little son. The worst part about the meal was it was cold.

Yelp
I feel very qualified to review this hotel, having spent roughly two hundred nights here since 2007. I really like this hotel - I've never had any trouble with the staff and the location in Coolidge Corner is fantastic; anything you could want to do or eat is within a short walk, as is the Green Line if you want to ride into the city. I'm also a die-hard Marriott fan and have been either Gold or Platinum for the last 4 years. But I have to drop a point from my intended 4-stars. Why? Their "free" internet is no longer free - well it is, but there's a catch. I work as a medical IT consultant and come here to work at Children's. I often continue work in my room in the evening so good internet is a must. But now, they have "Premium" internet service. The difference? Their formerly free service, which I used without a hitch for years, now "freezes" for at least 5-10 seconds every minute. This is enough to send any self-respecting computer geek into a fit, which is obviously the intent. Their upgrade is $6 per night - I assume it comes without the frequent freezes. Hey Marriott - is chiseling an extra $6 a night really worth pissing off your loyal customer base? Is this a chain-wide policy or limited to this location? Seriously, get rid of it.

Yelp
This hotel is in a very congested location. When I went in to register, there were a lot of people standing around. Were they in line to check in? Or just taking up space? Also, the lobby seemed to be a little dirty. We parked our car in the basement garage, quick and easy. I thought the hallway carpets could use a little Stanley Steamer. Our room was fairly comfortable, but small. I didn't like the layout, the head of the bed was facing the same direction as the entry. I am no Feng shui expert, but it seemed that the room layout was against the universe. Also, the mattress seemed a little saggy. We were surprised to find that the hotel was just around the block from some really nice restaurants. Really liked that. Another plus was the Starbucks in the lobby. Huge negative: We made the mistake of asking for directions to Sam Adams Brewery when we checked out. We were given a pre-printed direction card that took us totally out of the way and in the wrong direction. Hello, your business is to serve travelers. Make sure you are giving correct information. Very aggravating. Not a hotel that I would ever pick again, based on that huge gaffe alone. And I truly feel this hotel needs to clean up it's act. Definitely not the usual Marriott standard.

Yelp
Really just came here to avoid the rain but I was pleasantly surprised with the service at the bar. There's a girl who works there, I think her name was Rose. She's medium height with blonde hair and dark brown eyes. Not only can she juggle doing a lot of things at once, but she's also very pleasant to boot. It was really busy but she never showed that she was overwhelmed. Her style of customer service is relaxed and genuine--she shows she cares about the experience of everyone there. She talked to me about the products they serve there, like the Starbucks offerings, in addition to the details about how they make each drink (milk, type of machine). It was great that she was able to answer all my questions while handling a busy night. EDIT: 4 stars because they don't recycle.

Yelp
Dear Courtyard Marriott, Your $30 overnight parking fee for non-guests encouraged ours to park on the street and risk the cheaper (!) parking ticket. PS - Thanks for anally pro-rating the time we spent there deciding what to do, since parking there was clearly out of the question. I'm not quite sure I equate less than 15 minutes in your garage with an $8 fee, but I'm sure you have your reasons. PPS - This whole situation could have been easily avoided if you'd picked up the phone when we called. Instead, we waited on hold for 20 minutes before checking Yelp and seeing someone else mention $18 overnight rates - but alas, this is for guests. Pick up your damn phone in the future, k?

Yelp
clarification: 3.5 - 4 but just not quite a full 4. a good option though. I used to live in the neighborhood, so now that I'm back for a visit i wanted to relive those days by staying at the Brookline Courtyard. This is a franchise, and is consistently busy which means prices are pretty high. the building is well-maintained and has a number of great perks. in the lobby you can find a self-service beer and wine station, plus "the market" where you can buy sodas or energy drinks, assorted snacks and even cup o soups and microwave popcorn. there is complementary tea and coffee served all day, free internet (3 computers) and a flat screen TV in the lounge area. The breakfast room is nice enough and offers either the continental buffet for 9.95 or the full breakfast buffet (includes omelette and waffle station) for 12.95. on the first floor there is also a small gym with tread mills, a circuit machine and free weights, a tiny pool and even smaller jacuzzi, and a beautiful yard outdoors with grass for kids to run around on, benches for canoodling and tables for catching up with friends. the rooms are good quality marriott fare, a comfy bed, a big tv, desk, nice bathroom with fun Davie's Gate toiletries. You can get parking for $18 a night which is really your only option in brookline if you come with a car.

Yelp
I have since stayed at this Courtyard two more times and have been very impressed by the customer service. During my last visit, the front desk personnel were very welcoming and friendly, and even comped me on a sports beverage post workout, and on an item from the pantry when I realized I had forgotten a grooming tool. I should also note that the workout room was fine this time around--clean and no smell. I will continue to book my stays at this Courtyard when doing business in the Brookline area.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Alex at the front desk was very friendly, professional and was a pleasure to work with during my check in. The café is closed due to COVID and there are strict rules regarding mask wearing. The rooms are large and well stocked with the necessary amenities. Housekeeping was great as my room was clean and fresh. My only issue is with the cost of the parking. 35 dollars per night is a lot of money. In fact, I think it is a real rip-off and a sleazy way to gouge customers. Marriott should be ashamed of themselves, gouging customers like that, especially during this hideous pandemic. I know the hotel industry is suffering financially, but, they have a government bailout to get financial assistance from (the PPP). But, I gave them 4 stars because the hotel is very nice and Alex did a great job.

Yelp
I see quite a few people have mentioned the $18/night for parking. Honestly though, this is pretty standard for any hotel in Boston...actually, $18 is lower than I had expected. * Free internet is always good. * Good location; Walking distance to a good number of stores and restaurants. * Doors will slam themselves shut. * No free breakfast. * Seemed a bit too "eh" for the price.

Yelp
Have stayed there before, but this time was disappointing. Electricity in the room didn't work and it took them a day to fix it, despite a very nice professional trying to fix it. There was no water in the exercise room, and it took forever for the operator to pick up the phone answer to get water in the exercise room. The people were very nice very friendly and the food bar on the first floor was excellent, but overall this hotel needs attention...

Yelp
No bar in this hotel, but they do have a pretty sweet serve yourself and pay at the front desk set up...$4 beers an $6 glasses of wine. I've never stayed here, but during the intermission of Lawerence of Arabia at the Coolidge Corner Theater, my friend and I wanted to grab a quick drink. Believe this is the only place we could find serving alcohol that we didn't have to buy food? And what a fine selection: bud, budlight, amstel, heineken, corona. Chardonnay, Pino Grigio and Merlot. Only the best at Courtyard Marriot.

Yelp
They did a great job at this hotel. It is a little pricey, but they took care of me as I am a elite member. Some of the best service I have had in a long time. T stop Coolridge corner is right around the block. It is green line stop on the C train. A little ways out of the city, but a good hotel to stay at in the area.
