Where to Stay in Boston When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"This Brookline Marriott offers a standard upscale experience with airy, bright rooms that include a work desk, a seating area with a sofa, and a coffee maker, plus a fitness center with cardio machines and free weights — not fancy, but comfortable and reliable." - Matthew Kepnes

I have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years. Whenever I come to Boston, I plan on staying here as relatives and friends live in Brookline, and generally the vibe is pleasant (though the rooms are super-dark!). |This will be my last stay here. |We were unable to check in the first night (of a planned 5-night stay) due to an area black-out. Not the fault of the hotel, for sure, but they failed to follow through and call me when the electricity was up and running again and we were forced to find (and pay for!) another hotel 20 minutes away. When we heard the hotel was functioning again in the AM, we returned, ready to check in but were told that the nicer room we had booked wasn't yet available- we would have to wait until 4 to check in unless we were willing to pay an early check-in charge of $50(!). Eventually, we capitulated and paid the $50 extra charge (which they later waived after my discussion with the manager) and we were given a similar room on a low-level floor. |I alerted them that our room hadn't been cleaned by early afternoon one day, and then put in a special "don't forget" request early morning the next, but my room has still not been cleaned 6 hours later (even after I repeatedly begged them to do so). Plus, there is only one functioning elevator and it is very ,very, very slow. |Our friends opted to stay in the hotel next door from the start, claiming that it was so much nicer than this Courtyard Boston Brookline. I wish we had followed their recommendation, We will be checking in there for our next visit in one month. Definitely not coming back here.|Yuck!!!

This location is very convenient to Coolidge Corner with nice shops and restaurants. The day we checked in, the power went out. (This clearly is not the fault of the hotel ) The elevator being out for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and almost all of Sunday was something I do blame on the hotel. When I asked the front desk if they knew when it would be back on the answer I got was “it’s not something I have anything to do with, and I have no idea.” I didn’t complain, and I wasn’t rude, but was treated as though I was. |We stayed here in a two queen room with our family of four. The room was large enough for this, but many parts weren’t set up for an easy stay for four people. The rooms are dark, and if you need to do your hair or makeup, the only place to do that is in the bathroom, which makes getting four people ready a challenge. If they had a mirror in the room where one could do that it would have been a big help. (One full length mirror- nothing to set anything on nearby, and one round mirror that was too high to be usable. )|We needed 6 bath towels for showering. Our room was stocked with three on check in, and despite asking for three extra bath towels we would get one extra and more washcloths or hand towels. I wasn’t sure what the issue was until I walked by the housekeeping closet that had very few clean towels stocked (less than 5)|The management needs to purchase more towels, that should not be a struggle for a guest. When we checked out, we had to remind them to give us the refund for the power outage night that we were told every guest from that night would automatically get. Basically, the hotel was a struggle every day all day. May be fine for 1 or 2 people, but I would never go back nor would I recommend. Also only one nightstand - not three.

Great location. Accommodating and friendly staff. Clean hotel. |One are of improvement…..Staff could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the local restaurants. |All in all a good hotel. We will book here again.

The location of this hotel is great and the staff was courteous but for the price point it felt like management is cutting all the corners. There were 2-3 tiny threadbare towels, the drain stopper in the tub didn’t work, the plastic cutlery in the restaurant is almost unusable, we had to order an extra pillow from the front desk because there was only two on the bed (had a kid with us). Downtown prices, Motel 6 amenities.

Great location in Brookline. The driver to the medical campus was so kind!!! The room was fine, but the towels did not look overly clean, and the hallway was loud. Not as good as my typical Marriott chain experience, but still good.

Been here before and it never really improves. Very helpful staff. The exit at the garage never seems to work. The price equals a 4 or 5 star hotel, but the rooms are not at that level. Good neighorbood.

This Courtyard has seen better days, unfortunately age has caught up with her and a remodel of the guest rooms is badly needed. The service is good, no complaints there. My room was a king and had an odd useless space, see pic, the pillows are small, worn and one was not clean. There is no art on the walls, off brand eco bulbs in lamps give off a bright cheap light, mattress is hard as a rock and uncomfortable. Luckily only 2 nights here. Avoid this hotel despite the location. 😵

***Edit*** I'm happy to report Meaghan is the General Manager! Well done Courtyard!!! We stayed here for one night over a holiday and were genuinely impressed. Right from the start, we were welcomed by Meaghan Murphy, who was incredibly warm, professional, and genuinely engaging. If she isn’t already in a leadership role, she absolutely should be—her hospitality set the tone for the entire stay. The hotel itself was spotless, with a welcoming lobby and plenty of well-lit parking. Our room was clean and comfortable, with cozy bedding, a spotless bathroom, and thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and smart TV. The view from our window was absolutely stunning—easily one of the highlights of the trip. Every part of the stay felt well-managed and intentional. Clean, quiet, and comfortable—this hotel exceeded expectations, and we’d happily return.
