A lovely, large hotel: clean, classy in parts, good ambience and decor; and 2 nice and helpful staff in Rhiannon and Austin 🤗(an exception was a receptionist, who didn't know where the tourist information centre was nor how to direct us! We had to help her😐). ||Our room was spacious (as we'd paid for / requested); albeit with 2 large beds for a double room! ||The hotel is well situated, making it relatively easy to walk to various places of interest, restaurants, shops, etc. It has an external swimming pool and sitting area (inside and out). There is also a biggish library, and 2 PCs to use. Furthermore, it was 'refreshingly' lovely to have easy access to chilled water (although surely providing water in the room for new arrivals isn't too much to ask; especially given the heat!). ||In terms of negatives:||1. The 'complimentary' wifi' was problematic. We finally got this resolved, with the help of Austin; getting in touch with the hotel's internet provider and they connected us externally. However, it meant 3 days without any connection on our phones (which worked fine around the rest of Charleston!);||2. Housekeeping staff were VERY slow to make up the room (mostly done late afternoon)! Once they forgot to dress the bed! ||3 It was disappointing to have 2 large beds, with the side tables between the two. Consequently, regardless of our bed choice, only one of us had access to a table!||4. Curiously there is no safe in rooms (but safe deposit type of facility at the reception desk; but not very private and, presumably, one would have staff standing alongside, as it's also the receptionist spot!||5. The sun beds were uncomfortable; and management should try them: I'm sure replacements will be soon ordered thereafter!||6. No recycling bins: the manager advised everything was sorted out eventually, but I advised doing it at source would be much better for core messaging, customers, and housekeeping staff: he didn't agree and I'm unconvinced!||7. It was frustrating that while coffee is well catered for, there was no kettle in the room or indeed hotel, surprisingly! Surely breakfast t-bags are not a stretch to provide, alongside a kettle for tea- drinkers; even from reception. On occasion, staff were able to procure some teabags and hot water; albeit separately. This was a cumbersome process and experience for them and us!||Tip: It's easy to get a Carta (public transport) bus from the airport, especially as it's only $3 each! Look for the semi-covered Carta bus stop; and Route 11.
