Yelp
This is, by far, not worth $500 a night! There is no restaurant, only a "bistro" with very minimal items on the menu, there is no "M Club", no VIP Lounge, the shampoo/conditioner is in small bottles like at a cheap motel, no robes in the rooms and the rooms are very dusty and dirty, ( I mean VERY dirty and dusty, as in it has NEVER had a deep cleaning).
When we checked in, there were no hangers in the closet, no complimentary nor any water bottles for purchase in the room. (The waterfront Marriott gives you complimentary water and Charleston chews in your room). Also, again, what kind of hotel still has the sample size shampoo and conditioner in it? Not any that rents for $500 a night.
The rooms look like they have never been deep cleaned. The baseboards are VERY dusty and dirty, the threshold going from room to balcony was disgusting, the blinds outside that separate the balcony rooms were inch thick in dust. The chairs inside the room were not wiped down....... it's like housekeeping came in, changed the bedding, half way cleaned the bathroom and left.
The only reason I didn't ask for a refund is because of the staff. The staff there are the best ever! Amari and Darrell are the sweetest! They went above and beyond the normal customer care service! I would expect customer service like that at the Ritz-Carlton, (where the rooms ARE $500 a night but WORTH $500 a night). Those guys deserve a raise, a vacation and whatever else they can get. You can't even get that kind of customer service at Chick-fil-A!
I am loyal to the Marriott brand, but I really wish I would have looked at reviews on this one! Yes, the rooms are decent, but extremely dusty and unkept, especially for a newly renovated hotel. I was also told by locals that this hotel was once a Holiday Inn. It is definitely Holiday Inn standards, still. Read reviews before staying here.
