Okay, so it's not a total dive or anything. There is an IHOP and a mini-Applebee's in the lobby, if that is your type of thing. And, the employees were friendly and eager to please, so no complaints there. Basically, the missus was here on work over Thanksgiving, and we couldn't get a room with a second bed for the boyo anywhere last minute except here for the week we were there. It was a downgrade from the hotel the business was keeping her in for three weeks. The view was okay. You could see Canada from the windows by the elevators. However, there were a couple of things. Minor - two of the four elevators were broken the entire time we were there. Also, why does a hotel have two dining/bar places in their lobby and both close at like 10pm? People want to come down for a drink late. Most importantly, and this was the real reason I cannot recommend coming here... according to the desk clerks, it is an "old-fashioned" building. What does this mean? Well, the first night, the thermostat hit 77, despite it only being about 50 something during the day. We could not turn it down in the room, as they informed us the entire building ran off a boiler, so the air is not made up to work separately in every single room. We were told to shut it off if it was too hot, which it was (boiling hot). The temperature at that point went to 78. So we opened the window the one inch you can open a window that high (for obviously liability reasons in case someone decided to jump). The temperature then went to 81. They said that the problem is even with the heat off and the window open, that if the neighboring rooms are turning up their heat, its gonna cook your room regardless. I was miserable from the heat the entire time I was there. Go where you can control your room temperature. It's important.
