I stayed in the Courtyard in late June 2025. The hotel was clean & all of the staff very friendly, accommodating & professional. They were kind to facilitate us with a late check out. |The location, close to Yale & other shops was ideal for us. I would definitely stay there again.|

We stopped here for a quick night rest driving from Pittsburgh to Boston. The noise from the road was a bit much, but I was still able to get a good night's sleep. Was neat to see Yale's campus. Easy check in and parking. Nice convenient location

Michelle was incredible at check in. We came during a heat wave for some AC and relief. She was friendly, humorous, and helped us figure out a room rate issue. This is huge for business travelers and expense reports!! If it weren’t for Michelle we may have had to cancel. Thank you for having us!!

Had a perfect experience here for Valentine's day. The front desk was great and moved us to the right room when we showed up and there was no pull out couch. Beautiful view and close location to nightlife. Very safe and very good food downstairs and across the way. Would absolutely recommend and be happy to go again.

Google
Fantastic location. Close to everything and the hotel is newly renovated. You can walk to all the tourist spots from this location. They did not have makeup remover wipes but Michelle at the front desk and gave me one of her personal ones!! She was wonderful and really made us feel welcome and taken care of!

One of the best courtyards I’ve stayed in. Good staff and friendly service. Rooms were VERY clean and updated. I had guests in rooms on either side and it was noisy early in the mornings and late at night but that’s not the hotel’s fault. My one gripe is that they really don’t need to charge $25 for parking: It’s New Haven - not New York - something they also seem to forget with their claims about pizza!!

Google
Poor house cleaning and no towels. On the morning of my departure there were no clean towels in my room.I went to the front desk and was told that it was too early in the morning and they had no access to towels. I have a flight to catch and could not get a towel. The person also stated they had no supervisor to resolve the problem.

Had a great stay here in the winter. The staff was very sweet and I loved the hot chocolate bar in the lobby. There were renovations going on but it didn’t really affect my stay too much. The location is great if you’re trying to stay close to Yale - you can easily walk to the bookstore and other iconic places in the area.

Yelp
What a Christmas nightmare! Upon checking in, I was given a room for my stay. I sensed the room smelled of marijuana and asked for a new room. They complied, giving me a different room instead. After one night, I noticed there was a brownish stain on the sheets, and asked the front desk to rectify this. They complied. But that was not the end of it. The final night of my stay I noticed stains on the pillowcase, and then the morning of my checkout was when problems really started to emerge. The shower water never got hot. It only got lukewarm and never fully seemed to warm up completely. Also, the toilet did not seem to flush at times and I know it was not backed up. I also saw stains on a towel that I never used. I brought these concerns to the front desk and they felt very indifferent on these matters. As someone who stayed in this hotel previously and had a good stay, this was a nightmare of one.

Yelp
They didn't tell me it was under construction and loud drilling 7-7. One elevator out of order and zero sound proofing. There were people partying in the parking lot opposite my bedroom. The noise was crazy. The room was very nice and has been refurbished but they should have invested in soundproofing. Because of the noise I went out and also checked out earlier than planned. When I returned in the evening by taxi the entrance door would not open so I rang the bell. There was also a guest on the other side of the door locked in. The lady via the intercom told me that the door is broken. All in all not Marriott quality. I'm still waiting for my stay to be credited to my account

Kelly T.

Yelp
This hotel is being renovated, so beware. This slows down access to one of the elevators, currently has part of the lobby blocked off, and reduces the size of the restaurant/bar area - not to mention noise and workers from 7a-7p each day. We were in a renovated room on the 7th floor. It was nice and clean, but the bathroom was SO small. I was surprised that there was little counter space and no storage in the bathroom. Under the sink was open, and shelves could have been installed there. Seemed like poor planning. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable, and staff were very nice.

Yelp
What a disappointment! We always stay at Marriotts and this one was awful! We couldn't make the heating/air conditioning stop blowing cold air! It was freezing outside and inside as well. The front desk said they were all cold too but they couldn't fix it since the recent renovation!! We couldn't get housekeeping despite asking early in the morning and were eventually told we had declined housekeeping. Absolutely not! I would never stay there again!!

Yelp
I am still having issues with this hotel. I checked out and canceled my reservation on July 23rd, yet I am still seeing the reservation as active. I have reached out to the hotel via phone and the bonvoy app several times, and each time I am told that the reservation is canceled and that I will receive a receipt. I called again this morning after checking the app and seeing that the reservation is STILL showing as active, but they have removed my ability to chat with the hotel. The representative I spoke with over the phone stated that he will cancel the reservation and gave me a case number. I have to emailed back and forth with Steven Matiatos several times (view photos), but it's literally just the hotel not taking any sort of responsibility and basically not caring. I don't understand why this is so hard? I already had a horrible experience. Why does it seem impossible to cancel this room on the date that I actually turned in my keys and left the hotel (July 23rd)? I don't even care about the cell phone anymore, I just want this nightmare to end and I don't want to deal with this hotel anymore. At this point I am going to discuss with my employer possible legal routes because the incompetence is next level and ridiculous.

Yelp
Dirty, smelly, premium priced for this sub-par hotel. Parking in their own deck is $25/night extra. Free bad-tasting water in the lobby. Right next to Yale university, but it feels like plain old downtown New Haven. 15 min/5 miles from the airport. JW would (and should) be embarrassed.

Joseph K.

Yelp
Unsustainable practices - like replacing every piece of furniture regularly, and the place is a mess during the construction. In particular, the back parking lot is a massive pile of styrofoam and trash, blowing away in the wind! Shame on you.

Tara M.

Yelp
Hotel is under renovation - noise all day so loud it sounded like there was a jack hammer in the next room. Our room was one of the renovated rooms and bed was very uncomfortable. Water pressure horrible in shower. We came to visit Yale - would not stay here again.

Grace N.

Yelp
This hotel is clean, centrally located, and always reliable. Every time I book here, I know exactly what I'm getting, and I'm always pleased with the service, staff, and quality. There's nothing bad to say about this hotel.

Jess R.

Yelp
Long drives and sooo much traffic call for an overnight! Called Marriott and was able to book a room at this property. The property was easily found just off the highway by Yale. Parking was easy and the room was ready when we arrived. The space was clean and staff were very friendly. There was a large group checking in at the same time, but staff were not distracted. I'd recommend this location!

Yelp
The Courtyard Marriott New Haven is one of the more reasonably priced hotels in Downtown New Haven and located within a short walk of the Shops at Yale and Yale University. The rooms are clean, modestly appointed, with a fridge, coffee maker, safe, hair dryer, and ironing board. There is also a sitting area (larger in rooms with a King sized bed) and decent sized desk area. My main complaint is that noise travels easily across the door linking adjoining rooms, such as when our neighbour was singing loudly at 1am on a Saturday night. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lounge/restaurant area, and a 24h fitness centre on the main floor. Complimentary coffee is available every morning, and a hot chocolate station is offered every evening. There is a mini convenience/food area with a microwave where you can purchase snacks, frozen meals, bottled water, toothpaste and other such items you might have forgotten to pack. Parking is available on site for a fee but be warned that the ramps to enter and exit the parking garage are quite tight. Overall we enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Courtyard Marriott and would definitely stay here again when visiting New Haven.

Yelp
Nice lodging, just nothing to do nearby. Stayed here for one night. Everything went very well. Comfortable bed, nicely appointed room, great location near Yale. Hard to imagine anything which might have made the stay better. Very friendly welcoming service in a wonderful location right at Yale's doorstep. The room was certainly not fancy, but was clean and comfortable. The parking is very convenient.

Yelp
This is my second stay at this hotel and I enjoyed both of them. The staff go above and beyond! I was greeted today with a bag of water, candy, and a hand written thank you note. For Halloween they had a pumpkin carving contest (I think) in the lobby to vote on and candy of course. This time they had candy and a hot chocolate bar too.

Andrew K.

Yelp
I think this hotel was fine! I really liked the employee who checked me in. She was really nice! I also really liked the fruit flavored water they had available. I wish it was available in the mornings. In the mornings they only had coffee. Not everyone drinks coffee! Some people (me) would love access to fruit water all day. I also thought my room was plenty clean and spacious. The bathroom was nice. But as always I'd love if a hotel actually had liquid soap. Who wants only bar soap?

Ali N.

Yelp
I've stayed here a number of times and have found it to be consistently mediocre. The rooms seems clean, but have a rather funny smell. The furniture is fine--although the comforters have sometimes been lumpy and/or thin. On one visit, the air conditioning was extremely loud. The thing we like most is the courtyard--it has big tables, lounging chairs, pretty seasonal flowers, and a gas fireplace in the winter. It is a pretty nice and convenient place to have take out pizza. They also always have cold fruit-infused water in the lobby. We will inevitably return here next time we are in town.

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Courtyard while dropping our son for his freshman year. The staff in particular is STELLAR. Everyone we met was warm and kind and upbeat, from holding an elevator door to greeting us at check-in with genuine smiles. I want to particularly call out STEPHANIE, who helped us make our reservation a few weeks ago and was there to check us in when we arrived. She went above and beyond with us, making sure we had the best rate, the right schedule, and every detail tucked in. A great person. (And the hotel itself is lovely. Rooms are good sized, everything works, and it's a super easy walk to campus.) We'll be back for sure.

Richard W.

Yelp
As a fan of Marriot hotels forever, this was one of the poorest ones we've stayed in. Room was facing the street and windows were anything but soundproof...we could hear every loud motorcycle and car. Also the AC unit was so dated, made loud noise and would turn on/off every 10 mins. All contributed to a poor night of sleep. At least the receptionist was nice.

Ilsa K.

Yelp
Great location to see the Yale campus, obviously! The rooms could use some updating and the air conditioning unit would n our room could not keep up. To be fair, it was July when we were here, so dreadful humidity. Also the rooms are pretty tiny. But the staff were really friendly and tons of great, local restaurants within easy walking distance!

Yelp
I stayed here awhile back, prior to a Connecticut marathon. The stay was great! The place was immaculately clean, had complimentary hot cider in the lobby in the evening time, and coffee and food available in their little shop during limited hours. There was a grocery story conveniently close, and since the hotel was close to Yale, there were things to do and things to see, conveniently close. I had the opportunity to explore the vibrant, college area during my short stay. Lots of book stores nearby, coffee shops, restaurants, museums and a few other things to keep you occupied, if you choose to go out to wander about. Rooms were the ordinary Mariott type: clean, simple and predictable. Security was great. I think there may even have been a key card required for evening time, to keep all the crazies away. Beds were comfortable. Complimentary tea and coffee in the room. The only weird thing I saw was an African-American woman trying to check in and being told that the only rooms available were over $700/night. I've traveled so much, domestically, that I felt inclined to think that seemed a bit inaccurate and checked online, and as I expected, the rates for the room were not nearly what this woman was told. In other words, for whatever reason, she was prohibited from checking in. Other than that weird observation, the place was great, and only about 15 minutes from my marathon start line. The place had what seemed like a professional gathering during the evening of my stay, professional people mingling. Everything seemed safe and clean.

Sandi C.

Yelp
The hotel is very clean and modern. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and there were plenty of towels. There was a small coffee maker, and free shampoo/conditioner/body wash. It is right near Yale, and all of the small restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again.

Kel V.

Yelp
Im only here for work, typically 3 months a year or more. The hotel itself is nothing fancy, it is in a college area. There's a lot of homeless people around here, just be careful, I haven't seen any aggressiveness from them yet. I've seen security escort them away from the hotel though. Most importantly, talk to TYLO or Michelle, they have fantastic customer service! Ask for them only! I came late due to a delay in flight and one of their staff - not Tylo Or Michelle - cancelled my stay! I even messaged them through the Marriott chat, informing I will be arriving late and yet the room was cancelled without any notification. Matter of fact I assisted the hotel staff with chinese translation as well, the hotel had native speaking customers and I had to intervene to assist with their needs. Thank you Tylo for going above and beyond and understanding the quality of life, you deserve a promotion! Tylo called me back 10 minutes and worked it out with management and got me room! I was put on hold for over 20mins by another staff member and I had to call back, Tylo picked up the phone was the savor! This is not the first time Tylo provided me fantastic customer service! Rock on Tylo!

Brian W.

Yelp
The place looked fine in the common areas but there was mold in the tub and blobs of some sort of green goo on the walls of the shower. There was no bottle filling station as most decent hotels and airports now offer. No table service for breakfast, and the quality of the food was on par with McDonalds, yet the eggs and hash browns with an OJ and coffee cost $25. "Multigrain" turned out to be stale white bread. The staff were nice but it didn't save this shockingly sub par hotel experience.

Amanda M.

Yelp
The parking garage is a nightmare. We made a joke about how they must have so many reported accidents and the girl at the front desk said "never". Those parking spots are tighter than spanx when you're sweating at an Outdoor wedding in August. However, when you're paying $25 a night for parking and the upper deck is closed- it makes you wonder what you're paying for. We used this hotel to prepare for a wedding the following day. The suite was smaller than some of the other suites and executive suites we have stayed in. The queen size bed was a pull out from a semi round chair and barely fit into the space that it was placed in. Aesthetically the chair was nice, practicality wise it just didn't fit. The check in and check out process was easy enough. The room was semi clean- we did have to get a few dead bugs out of the shower. The water pressure was excellent though. Definitely a highlight in the middle of June when you have a wedding to attend as a bridesmaid.

Heidi W.

Yelp
The employees here are super friendly. I was offered restaurant recommendations and a New Haven map at check-in! Housekeeping always smiled and said hello when I passed them in the hall. The hotel has been recently remodeled. Its location is very convenient to Yale. The wifi is free, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I appreciated the complimentary infused water in the lobby. I also appreciated having a fridge in my room. Their gym is super tiny, but it has a few cardio machines and free weights. When open, you can obtain a pass from the front desk to use Yale's gym (It just so happened they were closed the weekend I was there). I did not particularly care for the bed or the pillows. The pillows are small and not very soft. I also was not thrilled about the $20 parking a night. I thought it was a bit steep for a lot that was never near full while I was there.

Erica T.

Yelp
This hotel was the highlight of my trip to Connecticut. Second to seeing my daughter of course. It is very conveniently located in the town of New Haven next to Yale. Walking distance to restaurants and campus or an in expensive Uber ride a little further out. Unfortunately, the price was pretty high when I stayed as Yale was hosting the Ivy League Track and Field Outdoor Heps, but any other time their prices looked fine. The room was clean and a decent sized except for the bathroom. It was painfully small. Also, they did not have the smart TVs with Netflix and whatnot. Customer service was OUTSTANDING!!! Every person I came in contact with in the hotel was amazing. The Front desk workers, food service workers, housekeepers, everyone!!! I got the room rate package that came with one breakfast for one person per morning. Loved it! I actually saved a few dollars going that route.

Marina S.

Yelp
If you need a hotel near Yale, the Courtyard New Haven is a pretty good option. It's located within a 10 minute walk of the main campus and many bars/restaurants, albeit on the side of a busy highway. Pros: spacious, clean, and recently renovated rooms. The bed was comfy enough and housekeeping was great. Convenient location and really helpful staff. Complementary hot apple cider in the lobby during the winter months, which was a treat! Could be improved: the gym is horrifically small (like smaller than my single-bed hotel room). Several times, I wanted to workout but found every cardio machine taken. Avoid peak workout hours or get a pass for Yale's gym, which I unfortunately did not take advantage of. Walls were also a bit thin/noisy, and my toilet never stopped running the entire time I was there. Free wifi is also a bonus, but it was SO SLOW when I was there. I didn't want to upgrade my wifi, but it also took me 5+ minutes to load a page in the evenings. Besides that, I had a great stay and I wouldn't mind coming here again!

Tony P.

Yelp
What??? Such a clean, new, fancy beautiful hotel and they don't have a pool?? That's my only complain - but a big one. They have really used every inch of this property on a busy lot in New Haven - I'll stay here again.

Heather W.

Yelp
Such a good place to stay! The location is extremely convenient (I was working for a couple of days at Yale New Haven Hospital). The front desk staff was friendly and professional, the bed was very comfy, and the room was clean. My room was on the second floor and faced the street, but I didn't find it noisy. I had a great stay. I was a little annoyed by the 25.00 parking fee. It seems pretty high for New Haven-- there's plenty of room for parking in their garage and attached lot, and I think they should just raise their nightly rate and have "free parking," rather than advertising a lower fee and then charging an excessive parking fee. Everyone who is complaining about the neighborhood-- I think they just aren't used to cities? I walked (alone, in the evening) down to Stop and Shop, and while it is definitely a crowded urban area, I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. I was happy to find so many restaurants and shops within two blocks.

Jan B.

Yelp
Our circumstances for staying here are not ideal.. we have a pipe leak in our basement but our stay here for the last two nights has been very comforting in our time of need. Our first night was Christmas night and to say my daughter and I were frazzled with our situation at home is an understatement. We found our room at the Courtyard to be clean and comfortable. We were happy to be there considering our situation at home. Our second night (which was last night) was even better than the first. The woman at the front desk was very kind and personable ( I wish I had her name) she understood our dilemma. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needed it and I am glad we chose it to stay there.

Steve K.

Yelp
Stayed on 8/6/16 This hotel showed how good a Courtyard can be. The rooms were clean with free wifi, but what really made it nice were the employees that work there. Everyone had a smile on there face with a friendly greeting for all clientele. They were more than accommodating throughout our brief stay. The Starbucks personel were equally as gracious when we had breakfast there. Nick the cashier/ server was top notch. We will definitely stay there again when traveling through New Haven

Kristi R.

Yelp
We only stayed for one night but it was excellent! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The best part was how friendly and helpful the staff was. Daisy and V were amazing and put the H in hospitality. I hope Courtyard knows how lucky they are to have these ladies on their team.

Anthony D.

Yelp
Great room and location but no wifi and was told i needed to call an outside company to resolve. Not ideal for a Sunday morning when i needed to do some work on the road.

Michael Y.

Yelp
The wifi speed at this hotel is very slow. Even for elite members the speed is less than 1mpbs, even opening Google map is difficult. Hotel also miss standard items such as slippers.

Anna F.

Yelp
My daughter just moved out her belongings from her dorm room at Yale 3 months after the Covid lockdown. I made the reservation online and then called the hotel to see if they could give her a late checkout. She was only given two hours to move out of her dorm so she had to take her items out quickly, put most in storage and some to bring back on her flight. The manager Steve was at the hotel when I called and he assured me that they would allow her to check out later. Steve was very kind and professional. He told us that his staff were there if we needed any other assistance and referrals. We only stay at the Courtyard when we are at Yale. The hotel is nicely done but the staff is what stands out. There is everything you need right there at the Courtyard. Get some New Haven pizza at Pepe's and you are all set.

Lauren F.

Yelp
This was an amazing hotel and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The lobby was pleasantly surprising with a lot of seating, a restaurant, bar, and convenience store. It was very clean. When the front desk attendant saw that my boyfriend and I were staying for Valentine's day, she upgraded our room free of charge. The bar was great, and even though they were missing a couple of ingredients due to a pending delivery, the bartender was compassionate and gave us a drink on the house for being understanding. The drinks were delicious! The bed was so comfortable and the view was great. I would absolutely stay here again! My only complaint is that the parking garage is very cramped.

K E.

Yelp
Hotel was unkempt and felt unclean. Rooms were not cleaned or ready for new guests at 5pm. Floors were filled with bags of dirty linen and housekeeping carts that were obviously overwhelmed. Hand sanitizers were empty and even the self help food areas needed to be re stocked. Not up to Marriott standards.

Leslie H.

Yelp
Free wifi, but no free breakfast. They do have a Starbucks/cafe/bar area downstairs, but the food and drinks are nothing to write home about. I spent the night on a pullout, which was mostly springs, not enough cushion, but the regular bed seemed comfy enough. Be warned, you'll definitely need extra blankets in the winter. When we called for extra sheets and towels, the housekeeping personnel who came by was extremely polite and soft-spoken, which was much appreciated at the late hour. Pretty close to the Yale campus, so that's a plus. Also within walking distance of a nice variety of restaurants and bars. And if you're looking for something quick, every single fast food restaurant can be found across the street and along the same main drag.

Rob P.

Yelp
Wow, this stay could not have been any better. Was just passing through town for a night to catch a show at Toad's, and was able to snag Courtyard for an insanely low rate on Priceline. I had a box shipped to the hotel from Amazon, and it was waiting for me at check-in along with a fax I had sent over. No charge. Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful as we chatted about why I was in town. They were nice enough to give me a 12:30pm late check-out and I'm still sitting in the room at 1:30pm without them bothering me. Coffeemaker & fridge in the room, those are always nice. Amazingly comfortable bed. Every hotel should try to be like this Courtyard!

Ziyan C.

Yelp
My non-profit has stayed here for many years in a row for a big conference we host at Yale. For the location, they have a good price point. They have good service (they hold a lot of our materials in their office and were very organized about separating it out from other events going on). Their whole staff had also communicated well about my group's needs, including gift bags we prepared to hand out to a subset of our group upon their arrival. Their cafe/restaurant by the lobby has really good service. I ordered a yogurt/granola for breakfast and went to the business center to print something quickly - they brought me my yogurt there, which I didn't ask for or expect! They also made it fresh. I asked if there was a microwave somewhere one day to heat up some leftover pizza I had, and they offered to use their toaster oven to heat up my pizza for me! They have a gym with a big TV as well as small TVs on each of the machines, and a few weight options. The big balls a little deflated. The channels between the big TV and the individual machine ones are all off from each other, and on the machine it skips a bunch of channels that exist, though you can manually put in the number. The channel numbers are all also different from the ones in your room! So if you start a movie in the gym and want to finish it back in your room, you have to do a bit of surfing to find the right channel.

Chris P.

Yelp
Terrific location, warm and cozy inside. The hotel is a bit long in the tooth but hey, how often do you have a window that brings in natural light in the bathroom? I loved that! The people working in the main floor Starbucks are terrific. Two individuals in particular, Victor and Rebecca, were particularly pleasant and put a smile on my face. For example, when I asked Victor for decaffeinated coffee, he reassured me stating he had just brewed a pot himself. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the fact they serve decaf! So many other Starbucks, especially in hotels, do not have it available unless it's the espresso (which they turn into an Americano coffee, NOT what I desire!) Thank you @Starbucks!

K S.

Yelp
Staff are good. However, the room we had was musty. The bathroom tiny and outdated. Several electrical plugs were loose. Finally, the doors are very, very heavy-- and loud. You can hear doors closely from far down the hall. This is close to campus but we'll find other options in the future.

S C.

Yelp
Wonderful stay in New Haven. The front desk staff was SO personable. Enjoyed learning about the city and they gave perfect recommendations for where to dine, walk and shop. Lovely room on the 8th floor - peaceful nights rest and very cozy. Will stay there again if back in New Haven. Thank you!

Krista S.

Yelp
Only real plus is that this hotel isn't dirty and the location isn't bad for anyone with a purpose at Yale. Otherwise, it's a very frustrating place to stay. We frequent this hotel as my husband does a lot of work at Yale's Hospital and seriously... I am always disappointed. 1.) Even when you pay for upgraded internet (or it's waved for platinum members) you only get to connect 3 devices in a single stay. So if you want to connect 2 cells phones and 2 laptops (a normal couple's stay)- you're SOL. If you want to drop and switch devices they require you to connect, wait on hold, and speak directly with the wifi provider... which is ridiculous. 2.) Guests AND platinum members don't get any water bottles in their room- not for the coffee, nothing. Be sure to bring your own and fill it in the gym (which is really just a small room with 2 treadmills, a bike, a bench, and a few hand weights in it). Plus side- they will let you use Yale's gym if you request it. 3.) I asked for wine glasses at the bar downstairs to take up to our room- the woman behind the bar handed me 2 glasses; 1 was dirty and the other was filthy. Clearly they had been through a washer but were still stained and spotted to the point where I could tell there was red wine in the one glass prior to being cleaned. When I mentioned getting at least 1 of the 2 replaced she told me "oh, they're all going to be like that, the washer isn't great" ... WHAT?! - how about you do what any hospitality personnel would do and apologize and take them both back and hand clean them to any normal persons standards if 'they're all like that'? I had to bring them to the front desk to tell them I needed a new one or something to clean it with myself (which I did nicely might I add). It's not that she was rude it was just really a bizarre response- no solution offered or attempted. Just because they're 'all like that' doesn't mean its acceptable. 4.) The beds are not comfortable in my opinion- perhaps not uncomfortable but not comfortable. The pillows are also not those lush hotel pillows either- they feel grungy and old. Renovations in the lobby look nice but still a below average - average hotel overall. Anywho, this place has the area monopolized if you are a loyal Marriott or SPG goer so, unfortunately, we will be back. There are a few good places to eat within walking distance which we really like, and my husband can get to work quickly from here. The area isn't super safe I wouldn't say- there is a soup kitchen almost immediately next door and a decent amount of homeless people loitering at night. No one has ever bothered us though.

Yelp
If I could give this hotel a negative 10 I would. If your room is on the front side facing the road don't expect any sleep. The road noise is extremely loud. The staff is extremely rude. I called the general manager on his cell phone and left numerous messages and he never returned a phone call. If the general manager does not return call it shows to bot the customers and employees that he does not care so why should the staff care. Therefore they can be rude to the customers because the general manager does not care. Over the next four years I will be traveling a lot to new Haven and I will never stay at this hotel again. I would rather sleep in my car than this hotel. Suggestion save your money and don't stay at this hotel. I would not stay here if it was free One more thing, the boiler for the hot water went out thirty minutes before I checked in and they never mentioned it to me. When I was on locking the door to enter my room for the first time somebody handed me a note stating that they will not be any hot water due to the boiler being out. This should've been mentioned to me prior to me checking in at the front desk

Yelp
Recently stayed at Courtyard New Haven and it is an old property. Parking is $24/night and if your room is facing Whalley Avenue you better have earplugs. I'm a platinum member but would not recommend this property as I've gotten allergies from bad room service. Disappointed from this Marriott property. Will not return. Their are few more hotel options around that look better.

Yelp
DO NOT TURN LEFT!! DO NOT TURN LEFT!! If you do, you will instantly find yourself in the scary ass hood. You will be hanging out with gangsters and pimps and you can also buy yourself some Popeyes right across the street if your little heart desires. Just don't get your eyes popped though! If you do get into trouble, fear not. There is a lawyer working in a van with tinted window in the hood also! I'm not kidding! Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights when I went to Yale for a week long training. The hotel is situated in a very interesting neighborhood. I got here around 10pm on a Sunday night. I was like shoot what did I get myself into. I always read Yelp reviews before I decide to patronize a place. But for some reason, I didn't read the reviews this time before I booked my room. One thing to keep in mind is that DO NOT TURN LEFT when you exist the front door. Or you will be in a sketchy and rough neighborhood. I saw lots of questionable peeps just hanging out. And I was told by a local friend not to walk in the neighborhood at night. Apparently people got robbed at the Bank of America ATM just a few blocks away. That being said, the hotel itself isn't too bad. It is on the edge of Yale campus so it was convenient to walk to the university. My training was at the law school and it only took me 10 minutes to get there. Yale bookstore, a 24 hour connivence store and several restaurants are all close by. The hotel room is pretty basic and a bit outdated. They have a fridge in the room but it only turns on every few hours. What's the point of having a fridge then if it turns itself off from time to time?! I put a couple of left over pizza slices in there and they turned limp and wet the next day b/c the fridge shut itself off at night. Face palm! And they charge $20 a day for parking? Seriously? It is New Haven not New Heaven! Just park on the street! There are plenty of street parkings nearby. The hotel staff were friendly and they actually had complimentary sangria and refreshments on one of the evenings during my stay. Pleasant surprise! Free wifi is also a plus. I am glad I didn't have to pay much b/c I got a F&F rate from a friend who works for Marriott. Otherwise I would not have chosen to stay here! Maybe the Swing dorm would have been better, I'll never know.

Yelp
Plenty nice. I stayed at this Courtyard Marriot repeatedly in the spring of 2007. Each time, I was happy with the cleanliness of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the basic amenities - parking (an extra 12$), free wireless, and a little workout room. It all makes for a pleasant and easy stay. But the best thing about this hotel is the location, near Yale (it is closer to the academic campus than the hospital) and the restaurants, diners and shops on Broadway, Whalley, York and Howe. If you arrive by car, you can park once and (most likely) get everywhere you need to be in New Haven on foot.

Yelp
The Ivy League hotel with community college wireless. Nice rooms and lobby was revamped, but I cannot get over how bad the wireless is in this place. Neighborhood is borderline sketchy. Don't go left out of the front door.

Yelp
This was one of two choices for a conference I was attending at Yale. While location is fine vis a vis the campus, it is WAY overpriced, and as others have indicated the neighborhood towards the left of the hotel looks like it gets dodgy very quickly. The "restaurant" is a mini-Starbucks, plus microwaving food. I had a microwaved breakfast sandwich the first day which was truly barely edible. Unfortunately little nearby for an early breakfast. If I come to New Haven again, I'll stay elsewhere.
