I stayed here awhile back, prior to a Connecticut marathon. The stay was great!
The place was immaculately clean, had complimentary hot cider in the lobby in the evening time, and coffee and food available in their little shop during limited hours. There was a grocery story conveniently close, and since the hotel was close to Yale, there were things to do and things to see, conveniently close.
I had the opportunity to explore the vibrant, college area during my short stay. Lots of book stores nearby, coffee shops, restaurants, museums and a few other things to keep you occupied, if you choose to go out to wander about.
Rooms were the ordinary Mariott type: clean, simple and predictable. Security was great. I think there may even have been a key card required for evening time, to keep all the crazies away. Beds were comfortable. Complimentary tea and coffee in the room.
The only weird thing I saw was an African-American woman trying to check in and being told that the only rooms available were over $700/night. I've traveled so much, domestically, that I felt inclined to think that seemed a bit inaccurate and checked online, and as I expected, the rates for the room were not nearly what this woman was told. In other words, for whatever reason, she was prohibited from checking in.
Other than that weird observation, the place was great, and only about 15 minutes from my marathon start line. The place had what seemed like a professional gathering during the evening of my stay, professional people mingling. Everything seemed safe and clean.
