Best arrival experience! Corin went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and appreciated as a guest and Bonvoy member. She acknowledged me the minute I stepped into the lobby and welcomed me with a sincere hello and smile. Corin stayed one step ahead of my needs during my check in and ensure I had the best accommodations possible. She's a master of her craft and exhibited all the right qualities of a leader in this industry. |The valet attendants were great too, very responsible and professional.||Thank you Corin.

No real complaints about the hotel itself! Beautiful old building. Great staff. Nice room. The neighborhood is not great as many others have indicated. San Diego has a ton of nice unique neighborhoods but this isn't one of them. Also the building has a really bizarre layout and feels like you're in a dungeon sometimes. But honestly still 5 stars for the experience.

Nothing but great things to say about this establishment! From the moment I arrived, the service was top-notch. Noah at the front desk was incredibly helpful—he went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and even helped bring my luggage up to my room. It’s rare to find that level of hospitality and genuine kindness. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and centrally located, but the staff truly makes it stand out. Highly recommend staying here!

While it was a good value, I don’t think it’s for me. This part of downtown is just a little dicey for people with kids. This is a good place for people who want to come downtown and save some $. Had some hiccups and the staff and management specifically was really great about working to make up for it. Overall, it a cool building and the rooms are clean and well kept, but it’s a clear 3 star and that’s really on me for booking a 3 star and wanting a 4. Lots of comments about the uncomfortable beds and I have to agree. With the low cost of mattress these days that’s an oversight and should be addressed on the next update. Go for the value and be clear in your expectations … FYI on the $65 valet fee, which is standard in downtown SD

This hotel is beautiful! Clean and well maintained, and very attentive staff. However, the surrounding area has a large homeless population making it challenging to walk down the sidewalks and nearby trolley station.

Friendly and prompt service, clean and spacious rooms, and a decent proximity to most things downtown, including the harbor (20 minute walk) and Little Italy (~30 minute walk). Valet parking is $60/night but there are some garages nearby. The bar has some tasty cocktails. Coffee in the rooms isn’t bad, but the lids don’t fit the cups they provide. The building is a renovated bank and post office, historical to the downtown area. Lots of walkable restaurants and bars nearby, though some may be uncomfortable walking the downtown streets alone at night.

We stayed here for one night after our flight was unexpectedly canceled, and this was the hotel provided by the airline. I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained the property is, the room was spotless, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind. A great experience under less-than-ideal circumstances.

Stayed here before many years ago and had good enough memories to pick this hotel again for a weekend trip to San Diego. Unfortunately, things got a lot worse. Our room on the 14th floor was very outdated and worn down. Walls are extremely thin and could hear every word spoken by people partying in our neighboring room. The bathroom was so tiny that the sink was placed outside the actual bathroom. AC was loud and barely working. View outside the window covered by HVAC units or similar appliances. Cleanliness was questionable. WiFi was spotty and very slow. Less important: I’m a Marriott Titanium Elite member and got neither a room upgrade, welcome gift, or anything else you usually get a Marriott property. Would strongly recommend to not stay here.

Yelp
I had an amazing stay at the Courtyards! My room was impeccably clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. There was a lot of great decor, a bench in the entryway and a nice sink and mirror area for getting ready in the morning. The housekeeping staff clearly takes great pride in their work. The on-site restaurant and bar were fantastic--great menu options and delicious food! I decided to partake in their breakfast, which was so yummy and they even have Starbucks coffee at the bar in the morning. A special shoutout to the staff--everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to make sure I felt welcome and taken care of. From check-in to check-out, everything was seamless and stress-free. I'll definitely be staying here again next time I'm in town! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Very nice hotel- walkable area, great staff! This hotel has one of the coolest meeting rooms I've ever been in -a safe vault!

Yelp
November 2024 Nice hotel in a historic building in downtown San Diego. This was a former bank building that was built in 1928 and still retains some of the original decor. Rooms are on the small side and unfortunately no club lounge for guests with status. Had room service breakfast that was nice and all the staff was really friendly. Walking distance to many restaurants, Petco park and the convention center. I give it 3.8 stars.

Yelp
When you take a look back in time when the City of San Diego was going through the many hard times and the buildings of many large businesses and the many of the large businesses were the big banks and the many of them were located along the main street of Broadway. During the many years the city has grown, and the many historical buildings were changing, and the banking industry was one that was creating larger banks and the larger safes that most bank robbers were unable to get through there were some, yet they were gunned down. There is one building that that holds one of the largest safes in the basement when you have a large bank most the vaults were in the basement of the building. Walking through the main interior of the building it feels like you have crossed back into the 1930s and you have come to the bank to make a deposit you can feel the history and the many things that have gone inside the building just due to the size and the structure. When you walk about the building you can see the many pictures of when the building had first started the building of the bank and the many floors that it took to complete the m any floors. The many pictures on the wall some of them can't be replaced showing the true side of San Diego and the many places during the 1930s and 1940s. When you come to the Marriott Courtyard you can see the sheer size of the building and the way many buildings that had looked before with the architecture that still stands today. The many floors of the bank building must still have the many things that are up there with the long mail drop and the dumb waiters that are used by the many hotels here in the City of San Diego. The Courtyard Marriott Building is one Hotel that has so many tales and the great stories of the many shootouts that may have taken place when the place was a bank and the many spaces along the many areas were the tellers if you tried to rob the bank you were in for a big surprise. The lobby of the building it has the Hotel feel to it and the people that work behind the desk and those in the dining room has such a great story to tell of the building and the great history. As a Yelp Reviewer this is one building that has everything and the feel of the 1930s and the 1950s when you come in the marble floors and the walls tell you so much and the feel of the lighting tells you have entered one of the largest banks back in the 1930s. The location its wonderful for a hotel and the remodeling they have there is more work to be done to the main lobby and the dinni9ng and bar.

Yelp
This is the nicest Courtyard I have seen. The building was previously a bank in the 1920's and it's gorgeous. The lobby has a high ceiling, much of which appears to be original. The floor below has some of the original bank vaults and old telephone booths. The floors above are old offices converted into hotel rooms. The hotel rooms look great and the bathrooms are nicely updated. SERVICE Everyone was friendly and professional here. I felt like the level of service matched the hotel. PARKING They only offer valet parking. If you want to park on your own, there are various private lots and garages in the area. Street parking is available but it is all metered and usually 1, 2, and 4 hour limits. Most streets also have restrictions such as no parking MWF from 3am-6am or no parking TuTh 3am-6am. LOCATION The location is pretty convenient. It's close enough to the convention center to still be walkable but far enough from the loud parts of gaslamp where your stay won't be disturbed. The immediate area is fairly safe. One street over on 7th will have a noticeable increase in homeless residents. You'll find a good number of shops and restaurants on streets 4th to 6th.

Yelp
I've stayed in a lot of hotels during my lifetime (for business and pleasure); this is among the most beautiful I've ever visited. Marriott converted an old bank and wisely kept all the beautiful architectural features which made staying here feel like staying in a museum. This hotel and location were chosen by my wife's company...so I wouldn't have chosen it on a normal basis. It was honestly a treat to experience being treated by the staff as a non-Marriott loyalty member. I give the team here an A plus. We were checked in early. Also the staff noticed that we were assigned a room with on king bed (there were 4 of us) and made the change with no charge to us. Our room was well appointed with a beautiful view of downtown San Diego. Also, it's located near the "gas lamp district" and all the wonderful dining and entrainment opportunities. To my knowledge there was no pool but it does have a wonderful workout gym area. My only "negative" is that it's a "valet only " hotel. The parking is off site...and it can take around 20mins to get your car. That said, I'm not sure that any hotel in the downtown area offers self parking I'm not into valet but I think the team did a great job. I'm a fan of this specific hotel...we were treated very well by everyone despite not being a Marriott loyalty member. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone! I don't think you'll find a hotel much better. I'd even forgo my loyalty membership to another hotel to stay here and if you know me that's saying a lot!

Yelp
The staff were so friendly & helpful with everything. San Diego is my favorite staycation location with every visit being different & for once I was within a 10 minute walk/drive from entertainment & a variety of foods. Valet parking was worth every penny, just follow instructions & text 15 minutes prior. Also helps to communicate about the next time you'll need your car so they can Tetris your car accordingly. The building is stunning & being a former bank definitely provided the space to give standard sized rooms vs Manhattan style/sized rooms offered at other equally beautiful & old locations in the area (but those turned out to be the haunted hotels anyway lol true products of the their time) 10/5 stars, definitely coming back!

Yelp
The hotel itself is a beautiful old building that used to be a bank. The location is convention to just about everything - r just a couple blocks up from gas lamp, the interstate in either direction is not very far, a ton of food options being right there in down town. The area itself wasn't terrible but go a few blocks one way and the homeless population is terrible (I will say while they had a very large homeless population, none one really bothered you as I have had in other cities). Seems like it might have been newly renovated and the room was actually quite nice. The bed was hard as a rock which sucked for me, the bath tub drained really slowly, and the AC seemed to be terrible (turned it down to 55 most nights and it didn't seem to cool off much). Could have used another trash can in the room (only had one in the bathroom). It was valet only at $54 a day which seems ridiculous but the valet guys were really great - helped with luggage, opened doors when we pulled up, etc. The food at the hotel was kind of expensive but I think that is just the area honestly I'm sure all that makes it sound terrible but it really wasn't. Everyone working there was great and helpful, the rooms were clean, the building is beautiful, nice little gym for a hotel. Despite the people in the room next to me partying very loudly until 3am Monday morning, it wasn't a bad stay.

Yelp
Valet stole a sentimental keychain off my keys and were rude when I called to inquire/complain after I drove over 2 hours home. Hotel itself was dirty, trash in elevators, and the "store" was poorly stocked. Salad I got from their in-house restaurant was disappointing, also. Only tolerated the stay because it was a business trip.

Matt C.

Yelp
If you want to pay $250 to be treated poorly and stay in a dirty room, then this place is for you! The front desk staff was rude, the room was dirty and managers were unresponsive. We stayed for two days and First, the shower was gross, someone blew nasty green snot on the shower that dripped down the wall, dried and was never cleaned. There were stains on my pillowcase, broken cabinet doors, and the lobby near the elevators always smelled musky. In addition to that, the water was out from 10:30a - 4pm. We had an event that evening at 5pm, and when asking the front desk questions, they rudely advised us to prepare for our event at 9am instead. At that time, I asked for a manager to call me, they promised one would call at 11am. That never happened. I returned to the front desk the following morning and again I was met with a combative and rude front desk lady who could not comprehend why I was "bothering" her with my problems when they let us know about the water outage by sliding a note under our door in the middle of the night. Again I asked for a manger to call me, and again they never did. this was by far the worst hotel experience during not only this vacation, but the last few years of vacations. If you wish to stay near the gaslight district, do yourself a favor and find a different spot. I do not recommend.

Yelp
Can I just say, Elsa and Richard were AMAZING!!!! They made us feel at home. This historic hotel has charm for days!!! I highly recommend you stay here if you want to be near where it's all going down and if you care about comfort and convenience.

Yelp
In my view, any hotel that does not provide housekeeping at least once a day is a dump. This place does not provide daily housekeeping. What a shame that the investors chose to put a Courtyard brand in this beautiful historic building. A lovely lobby but my room was shabby. There was a bad odor near the sink in the front room. I reported this to the front desk. The windows don't open. After three attempts, the smell was mostly but not completely gone. The housekeeping manager was directly involved and spoke to me about the problem. Removing the mini-fridge and cleaning the carpet underneath would probably be required but not possible during my stay unless I wanted to change rooms. The WiFi was spotty. I often had to use a cellular connection instead. Long waits to get an elevator. One was apparently not working and another reserved for staff. Valet parking at $54 a night but no help with luggage and no self-parking. The property has dry cleaning/laundry service but clothes must be dropped off at the front desk. No one is available to pick up the items from guest rooms in time for the deadline to turn items in for cleaning. The front desk staff are incredibly nice. If they were not so wonderful, I would have given a one star rating. However, great people cannot fully make up for all the flaws in this property.

Yelp
Y'all y'all y'all! This hotel was so nice! It used to be an old bank and they have preserved a lot of the details. The lobby is magnificent! There is a conference room that used to be a vault and they preserves the mail shoot. The rooms are nice sized and they look like they have recently been renovated. The staff were all very nice and personable. The location is perfect, we walked almost everywhere, to Petco stadium, balboa park, many food places, STK.. I will say I was shocked at the number of unhoused people in this area in general but they don't bother you and we walked day and night and never felt unsafe.

Yelp
I stayed here on the eighth and I finally got my deposit back it was a pretty cool old style hotel

Oscar R.

Yelp
Stayed here for the dodger and padres series. Dodgers won and TeOscar hit a grand slam. Upon arriving it was a bit confusing. They do not offer any self park just valet services. Vanessa was the person that helped me, I think she could've been a little friendlier since I did not understand their process. I had tried to book online through the Marriott website and had gotten a confirmation number. When I was checking she just asked for my card and ID, did not ask if I had a confirmation number just a reservation. After that she charged me and told me the total. I was unsure why that was and more expensive than the online pricing I thought I paid. When I received a confirmation number and total for my stay I assumed the bill was covered. I was trying to ask questions but she seemed irritated and unhelpful. I did have dodger gear so maybe some of the rivalry spirit was there. The hallways sort of smell like cigarettes. Other than that the area is nice and retahíla close to everything. We were able to walk to petco park and back. The room is nice enough and has a comfortable bed.

Yelp
Courtyard Marriott SD is a cool old former bank building that if you look past the more modern updates to "hotelify" it, you'll find a details, architecture and relics you don't typically see in modern day hotels. Be sure to go downstairs and look at the vault which is now a conference room. It was fun to look at many of the other unique elements and imagine the building and it's history when it was a bank. The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The location is great for its proximity to being able to walk anywhere.
google avatar

Shelly M.

Yelp
Decided to stay here an extra night while in town and found it exceptionally beautiful with rich hues of historical design elements. Price was about $260 a night and overnight parking is $58 per night. Room was basic with a high end luxury feel. An additional element of security I appreciate was the simple fact that your room key will only allow you to go to your room floor and the elevator only works with your activated room key card. Appreciated how clean everything felt and would likely be back to stay when visiting gas lamp for a night on the town.
google avatar

Kaytlin K.

Yelp
Really neat hotel nestled in gas lamp. The architecture alone was fun to look at. Make sure you make it downstairs to the vault to check out the meeting space! Our room was clean and the view was great. It did seem like a hefty cost for what they offered, but, it was a very unique stay. It was a bummer that they had no one to open the door for you at the front or help with luggage. Also, there was unfortunately homeless people sleeping on the front steps of the hotel. It didn't make me uncomfortable but I could see a lot of people avoiding the front door. The rooms were a bit snug but they did a decent job updating them. Tip: if you're claustrophobic be mindful of the elevators!!

Yelp
Stayed here for a night since visiting California. The service wand room was amazing. Staff is super nice. Close to all the bars also. The only thing that was crazy was the price of breakfast. $72 for a regular breakfast for two people is crazy. Definitely not worth it.

Yelp
Try not to let the streets around this hotel get to you as the hotel is beautiful inside and holds much of it's historic design. Staff: All of the staff that I've interacted with are very pleasant and nice. I was always greeted with a smile when walking through the hotel lobby. Rooms: The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. I was surprised by the size of the room. You can see signs of wear and tear and areas that show the rooms probably need an upgrade soon but it's not too bad. The one minor issue I have is that there is a large gap underneath the room doors as they use the historic doors from the bank. Fortunately my room was designed in such a way that the front door doesn't face the bed, closet or bathroom. Hotel: I love the historic look that was kept for the interior design. The building used to be a bank and they kept the vault and redesigned it to be a conference room. Area around hotel: The only other issue I have doesn't really have to do with the hotel itself. The immediate area surrounding the hotel isn't the most attractive area. There are a lot of homeless and it doesn't necessarily seem like the safest to be walking around at night by yourself. During the day, it's fine. The hotel tries to keep the immediate area around the hotel clean as I saw people mopping the sidewalks by all the hotel entrances each morning.

Yelp
Don't get fooled by their advertisements In the media . This is a stinky, dark dungeon that they called it hotel . Place is located in Downtown SandDiego ca. near a place called gaslamp quarter . Its surrounded by transients , lots of closed businesses and dirty smelly streets. Not a secure area at all. Hotel is an old bank which the main attraction of it is a broken vault .its an smelly old building . Rooms are small , old, damp, with locked windows at all time . You feel short of fresh air all the time .it feels more like a jail room . sound of police syrons and ambulances, loud noises, smell of urine are an ongoing adventure that Marriott promises you when you are making a reservation nothing more. It's an overpriced ,old, smelly , place with $60 parking fee in the middle of transient and drug users and lowlife crowds. Strongly not recommended . This is not the only place in gaslamp quarter that has turned to a dump all courtyard Marriott in this area are very much the same . Stay away from gas lamp quarter in down town San Diego specialty courtyard Martiots.

Yelp
Shout out to Kandi who took great care of us and went above and beyond. We had a snafu and she went out of her way to make it right! Made our Friday night! She also helped me out later in the night by grabbing some plastic silverware for us, appreciated that too. She is a keeper and the hotel is lucky to have her! We thought the hotel had a lot of historical charm. Loved its bank roots. Older styling throughout, especially in the hallways, but the rooms themselves are modern and very much updated. The only complaint I can think of is that I didn't find the bed to be super comfy, but it's less an issue with the mattress and more a testament to how plush our mattress at home is - now that we are so used to it, almost any mattress elsewhere is difficult to sleep on
google avatar

Alycia H.

Yelp
I loved everything about this hotel. It's within walking distance from a lot great restaurants. The staff were really friendly, and the rooms are nice and clean. The rooms are super modern but the building itself has a historic look. The location of the hotel is extremely quite and relaxing, but I did stay on a Thursday. I would definitely stay here again

Helen I.

Yelp
Found a brown substance in the curtain and a yellow handprint in the bathroom door. Dust everywhere an, When we first checked in The lobby was very fancy but then we got to our room and then things started going downhill. No parking either and you have to pay $58 just for valet parking. If only they spent as much money on the hotel rooms then the lobby.
google avatar

Nobbi L.

Yelp
Although the building is historic and the lobby is beautiful, service is lacking. The bar was not open at 5 pm on a Saturday. One of the elevators is a service elevator, so the room key card does not work. I ended up in the basement, then went to the front desk, where I was informed of this fact. There was no warning sign. I would stay elsewhere with so many Bonvoy properties in the area.

Yelp
Our plan was to stay at this hotel for a night with the intention of visiting Balboa park the following day. This is a beautiful hotel that used to be a bank. It is located by a POPULAR blues club which lines up in front of and around the building. Great for a younger crowd. There was a big shuttle vehicle out front as we arrived at night. There were 2 vehicles parked behind and no more room. After passing 4 times circling down town a few times as you can't just circle a simple block the 5th time was a charm. Nonspace but saw the vallet guy. He motioned us to keep going and come back. So we did 3 more times. It had been over 40 minutes now so we gave up. The girls had to use the restroom and it was getting late. I wanted to share for a heads up for those who may be new like us to down town Gas Lamp District. Busy, construction and stacked! Maybe arriving earlier is easier. They park your car for you on a lot off site.

Lauren C.

Yelp
We only stayed one night here but the staff was amazingly accommodating. We had some baby gear dropped off they stored for us, allowed an early check in and stored our luggage after check out for a few hours. The room was clean, quiet and convenient to transportation. The fitness center was clean and had some great amenities.

Yelp
Our stay was pretty good overall ! Keep in mind there isn't parking on site, only valet is offered and self parking is going to be at any other Public parking lot around the building. We got upgraded to a suite and it was pretty nice and spacious. The hotel has been recently renovated so that's a plus. Michael was very helpful and attentive on our last night stay! We had a small inconvenience in our room and he tried his best at solving it , thank you so much Michael ! The location is close and a walking distance to almost everything in downtown. I would stay here again :)
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Michael from the from desk was really helpful tonight, he tried helping with our tv in the room not working. We kept calling the desk for assistance and he was friendly and fast to assist. Great job bro!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here. This property is a repurposed 1928 bank building. Marriott did an excellent job on the update. Rooms very nice and comfortable. AC worked. No room service, but restaurant/bar open. Kylah in the bar area does a fantastic job! Make sure to stop in and say hello. For historical building aficionado, this place will not disappoint. Lots of "Easter eggs" to discover. Make sure to check out the bank vault in the basement. Happy Travels.

Yelp
BE WARNED, do not stay here if you need quiet to sleep. The music from the night clubs that share the street with this hotel will be heard as if the room next door decided to bring the party to their room. Choosing this hotel to spend the weekend was a huge disappointment from the moment driving up to the front door and find out there is no parking for hotel guests besides valet at $50 per day. The sign on the curb reads valet is "optional" but your option is the public parking garage next door that is not open all night and doesn't allow in and out, that cost is $35 a day. I'm pretty sure my car is being parked there anyway by this hotel because there literally is no parking allowed on the streets and the only parking is the 2 public parking structures on each side of the building. It's a whole ass racket going down here. I will never stay here again. **The rooms are small but nice and well maintained though. TIP: after a few hours of the music I called the front desk to find out all rooms that have 2 beds face the street and you will hear that music till 330 am. So if you want quiet book a room with one bed.
google avatar

Jasmine R.

Yelp
The pictures online are very accurate. Nice clean rooms. The parking fee was $27 and at times hard to find a spot. The food at the Bistro is good, they offer starbucks drinks. We slept comfortably, except our upstairs neighbors were making loud noises at 5am and woke us all up. There wasnt a microwave in our room so we had to go downstairs to the lobby to warm up food. Theres a gap inbetween the shower door and the shower wall that causes water to leak through and caused a water puddle outside the shower. I would recommend putting a towel or rug down before showering because our young child slipped and fell. It was a pricey stay, and overall pretty average. Possibly would go back as long as we get a top floor room.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Checked in last night, the AC is set at 68, but it doesn't work. Woke up at 615, need to get ready for a meeting, no HOT WATER!,, thought I would wait a few, have a cup of coffee,, nope,, no coffee or in the room,, watch TV???? Nope it isn't working. Called the front desk, "we are working in the water, don't know why the TV doesn't work, sorry." Great, that's just great. At more than $200 a night, $55 fir parking, you would think that they could at least get the basics. I'm stuck here for three more nights Ohh. And I'm a Marriott Ambassador level, lifetime platinum,, so I've stayed at a few Marriott's in the past 30 years.. by far this is the worst All I got from the front desk, "sorry"

Yelp
Property is a beautiful work of classic architecture and nice overall but the overall downtown San Diego environment is not positive. Homeless people and drug addicts living on the front stairs of your building is a terrible look. Out my window I could see, daily, naked drug addicts doing awful things. One particular addict likes to use the 1st story windows as mirrors, peering into the lobby in varying states of undress doing strange and unsettling things. Immediately upon stepping outside one Saturday morning, we were confronted by a store owner and an addict fighting over what we assume was a bag of stolen merchandise? As he was pepper-spraying her, we got a bit of OC in our eyes ... which is not a pleasant way to kick off the weekend. More than one morning during my stay, the front steps had to be power washed (to clean off all the feces and urine) which pushed all that human waste through the seals of the foyer door and under it too. As a result, there was a large puddle of human waste in the elevator lobby which smelled as bad as it sounds. Hotel guests do not want to smell human waste as soon as they step off of an elevator, one fellow guest (a foreign national) immediately gagged and began heaving as if to vomit. Her travel companions turned to me and my business companions and said "why is America so filthy?" Indeed. That is tough to overcome. An attempt was made overall. A positive? The bar tender - he is a solid dude. Very helpful and runs his bar properly. Very impressed with his skills handling loud drunks and fools. Very knowledgeable about San Diego overall and very helpful. Solid 10/10 bartender skills. Hate to be so negative overall, but it's tough to overcome the #mood and #feelz of the area overall.

Yelp
This Courtyard San Diego stands out from a lot of the other hotels in the area since the building itself has so much history to it. In its previous life, the building was a bank. The lobby area is so beautiful with high ceilings and intricate details throughout the lobby. They have a large bar area near the entrance and even had a pool table off to the side. They have other amenities such as a large gym with several pieces of equipment, business center, meeting rooms, and a laundry room. They have valet parking for $47/night. The rooms are pretty standard here and nothing too incredible. I feel like Courtyards are pretty consistent in terms of what you'd expect. They have a mini fridge and microwave in the room which is useful if you eat out in the area and have leftovers that you want to eat late at night. Overall, I would recommend staying at this Courtyard location. The staff is friendly and I really enjoyed the gym that they have here. Plus, the location itself is pretty good. It's located a couple blocks away from Horton Plaza which is the large shopping center in the area. It's just a couple blocks north of the main area of Gaslamp and about 2 miles away from Little Italy and Balboa Park.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Told them I was double charged on an item and asked them to removed it said they were going to and they never did called about this problem multiple times!

Yelp
We arrived early around 2:30pm and check in is 3pm. They didn't have any rooms ready at the time but they called us at 3:25pm to tell us our room was ready. If you want to come early, you can leave your luggage with the front desk. They also allowed us to check out at 1pm instead of 12pm when we asked. As others have said, the only downside is the parking situation but that's an issue at any hotel in SD. Hotel charges $50 for valet. We ended up parking across the street at Ace Parking on Sixth Avenue for $40 (Google directions if you can't find it). I'm actually kind of surprised the front desk didn't suggest this parking lot when I asked about other parking options but they probably prefer guests to pay for valet at the hotel. Rooms are clean and the view was pretty. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. There's 7-Eleven, Subway, and lots of delicious restaurants that are walking distance from this hotel. We personally enjoyed Gaslamp Breakfast Company for brunch. Wait times can be long at restaurants, so it was nice to be able to put our names down and go back to the room to relax since it was close by. Overall, I would definitely stay here again because it's a great location for a great price, a beautiful hotel, staff is nice, and rooms are clean.

Yelp
This hotel is not like any other Courtyard by Marriott I've stayed at and I mean that in the best possible way. The building was a large bank and has been converted into a beautiful hotel. Because it's on the list of historical places, they can't change the building to the usual Courtyard signage. As a result, it's hard to find, but it's on the north side of the intersection of 5th Street and Broadway. That's a great feature - the location makes it easy to walk downhill through fifth street or fourth street all the way through the gaslamp district, where you'll find many great restaurants and nightlife (during Non-Covid-19 closure dates). The bar and restaurant in the hotel seemed to be closed, but there were plenty of places open nearby to dine at. The rooms were quiet, spacious, and very clean, and comfortable. Check-in was very easy and the staff working the front were great. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a need to be in downtown San Diego. A really great location in a beautiful building.

Yelp
I booked 4 nights at the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Mission Valley through booking.com. I had a family crisis to deal with and I had to cancel the booking. The hotel refused to offer me a refund. Must have missed that when I booked the room. To me this is a transnational approach to business and has little regard for lifetime customer value.

Yelp
I am a loyal (Platnium Elite) Marriott member. After a 3 night stay at this property, I will never stay here again. The pictures of the King suite on the website are probably artist rendering, not representative of the tired - smelly (musky, 'BO' like) room we were given. This place is definitely not worth the $1000.00 I am extremely disappointed .

Yelp
We are San Diegans and this is my personal favorite staycation spot! We have been here twice now and I hope to return ASAP. Liberty Station is a 20 minute drive from our house but feels like we are in another city. Everything you need is within walking distance. There is a little beach, a park, a playground, a beautiful walking path, restaurants, movie theater, kayaking, a hair salon, shopping and just a short walk away. The hotel itself is well kept with a gorgeous spacious lobby including areas for watching tv, hanging, our using the computers. The pool is perfect for younger kids (only 4 feet deep) or adults looking to chill. The hot tub is toasty! My kids made friends immediately with folks from all over the country and world. They even learned a little French! The restaurant on site has everything you need, including a full bar. There is a Starbucks bistro attached for easy breakfast. I loved the free filtered cold water in the lobby as well. The staff is accommodating and friendly. I was pleased with the 24-hour market with snacks, easy meals and beverages for kids and adults. The room was nice too. We opted for a water view with a balcony. My kids loved that we could access our Netflix from the room. I loved that there was a mini-fridge and microwave so we could bring our own snacks. Parking is easy and plentiful. I just love this spot and can't wait for our next staycation. We couldn't have had more fun!!

Yelp
Make sure to check their website directly for any promotions on the dates you prefer to stay. During our stay, we were able to avail the Staycation package which includes breakfast, valet parking and late checkout. Our room wasn't as big but it was sufficient, clean and nicely decorated. Location is also within walking distance from the places we wanted to check out. Also don't forget to visit the hotel's basement during your stay to see the vaults and play in the phone booths. Would definitely book again if we are in the area

Yelp
Seriously this Courtyard is AMAZING! They were so wonderful and helpful. It's super clean. They honor all the Marriott things where a lot of in brand hotels drop the ball on. Housekeepers are lovely. Beds are comfy. There's room service. The building is gorgeous! For me, this hotel is an absolute WIN!

Yelp
I stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms get a *nice* view of the parking lot. The AC was too noisy and the towels were stained. The pillows were so flat we kept asking the front desk to bring us new ones but they never did. We also asked for a new phone because ours was broken and they never brought that either. Wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise when I walked in this historic bank building. It was the absolute best courtyard I've ever stayed in. The building is beautiful. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. A very laid back atmosphere. It's in the gas lamp district and tons to do within walking diatance. Def recommend staying here!

Yelp
Stayed one night in this hotel in April. This is a historical building with some unique features that gives you a view of its past life of a bank. However, the room was gross!!! The bathroom was not very clean and it appeared as if there was no cleaning done in the remainder of the room. My husband swears by the Marriott brand but this property was a huge disappointment. We won't be back!

Yelp
This hotel is a great choice for your stay. It's right by downtown, Little Italy, and Gaslamp. It's also walking distance from restaurants and entertainment. This hotel is good for both people who have private transportation or using other types of transportation to get here. The staff both the front desk and the valet were friendly and helpful. The hotel was easy to navigate around. Our room was stunning. It had a great layout, perfect lighting, and the decoration was up to date. However, the bottom door gap was a bit big where you could see the light coming in from the hallway. Also, the wall is a little thin but not a big issue. The bed was very comfortable but a bit too high. It might not be friendly to short people (as my 5' 1" girlfriend had a difficult time getting onto the bed when she was drunk). The air conditioning was nice and quiet. We didn't even notice when it was on. The ice machine and vending machine are available on every floor, really convenient. Our stay was perfect here. It was great value for what the hotel had to offer. If I had one complaint it would be valet fees. I think $65 per night was a little high. Even a big city like Chicago only charges $55.

Yelp
I am a long-time Marriott rewards member and have stayed at Marriotts all over the United States (and some abroad). This place is definitely in the bottom rung of Marriotts. First, the few good things, the lobby is pretty, and the bartender gave me a very generous pour of white wine. Now the bad. The room was not as clean as most people would expect. My bf found something gross, but he still won't tell me what it was. They were very stingy with the towels. I will not go into much detail, but I will say I had a bad experience with one of the housekeeping staff (the first time in my life that has ever happened). She was insulting; I mentioned it to the lobby staff, they said sorry, and they would speak to her. Right after I spoke the front desk staff I was in the elevator going back to my room, and the same housekeeper was in the elevator; she proceeded to call me out in front of 4 other people in the elevator, mentioned my room number, and told me I was in the restroom too long. I was not pleased. Who does that? I was shocked that she would mention my room number and told me I was taking too long in the restroom. I told her she was extremely rude, she smiled. Regarding the location, it is in a rough area. We walked to the Gas Lamp district, but I wouldn't do it again, it is not a far walk, but it did not feel safe.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this hotel loved the decore, the staff, the location. Loved that they kept the bank vault & the overall feel of the whole hotel. Walking distance to so many yummy restaurants. Free shuttle ride right outside of the hotel to San Diego convention center for comic con 2017. Appreciated the fact that I was able to use my government discount but I really really hate the expensive parking fees $45 a night for valet, but I do have to say the valley guys are great so helpful and friendly. The front staff was nice as well But mostly at every Marriott we stay at recently were always given complementary water when we check in and this time we weren't and I didn't ask so I guess we'll never know bout this location. Only other con would be that there is no pool at this location, and normally I wouldn't mind but my son loves hotel pools. But overall we would definitely stay here again.
