Courtyard by Marriott West Orange

The customer service at the hotel front desk was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness. The staff Angel & Anetra was extremely attentive, patient, and knowledgeable, taking the time to answer all questions and ensure that every detail of my stay was handled smoothly. Check-in was efficient, and any requests were addressed promptly with a positive attitude. Their willingness to go above and beyond made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. This level of service greatly enhanced my stay and reflects very well on the hotel. I would absolutely recommend this hotel based on the outstanding front desk service alone.

Great hotel. Right next to shopping center and ShopRite. The front desk staff is very helpful and great. Paulette (GM) is very helpful. The pool is actually heated feels great. Business center computer works and has paper in the printer. Rooms are clean. Beds are comfy. The gym is ok.

I booked here because of location. On Dec 27 everyone was ver nice and helpful. I called and was granted a 1 pm checkout (vs a noon checkout), when i arrived a little past noon, the key didn't work anymore when I arrived a little after noon. Was waiting at from desk my6 year old was shivering Front desk agent was too busy helping someone who tagged on to someone else's room who wasn't even a registered paying customer because as I was waiting with a shivering child she was calling someone asking for a credit card. Then she was talking bad about me to that other person because j asked for a key. Was told there was no manager. Ifi i wanted a manager j would have to wait. I aid ok. She never called the manager. I came back down at 1:19 pm and no manager still. She even tried to use my children against me saying there are children here yes! Thank you for NOW noticing my.shivering child. Worst customer service ever. Don't recommend to anyone. Better places at same rate. She would not even give me her name because she knew what poor service she provided. Sherry I believe she said one. Dec 28 at 1 pm in the front desk. She should consider a different job where she doesn't have to actually help Paying customers for something that should have ha not been a problem or would hace been an easy fix for anyone else. Only 1 "customer service" agent on the front desk even now at 1:46 pm. Agent even told me if I went back again with the key she gave me the secondly time i came down to call and a room service assistant would come help me. First time I cam back down she only gave me ONE KEY. I said can j get 2 just in case she said I only made you one key...and that key did not work.

Called multiple times in regards to using the laundry room and was never told it was out of order even when I asked how much the washer cost from the same front desk lady… After I checked in and was told the laundry hasn’t worked in a while when 30 minutes ago I was told the price of a machine that clearly doesn’t work. I could have stayed at the Cambria that is more modern and doesn’t entrap people.

Maid service every other day, came once during our 4 days and did NOT vacuum. Laundry was out of order our entire stay. Stayed because of swimming pool for our disabled son. Pool water was filthy, when we told them they shut down the pool and it was closed for the rest of our stay. Decent location close to grocery store and restaurants so you can avoid expensive Bistro prices for breakfast stuff at the hotel. Not up to Marriott standards and not worth th price.

My family and I stayed there recently because we lost a family member tragically. The staff was wonderful; the kindness and sympathy they showed us a 100 thank You's could not be enough to say. They went above and beyond. Rooms were excellent and breakfast in the morning was great!! There are no words to really describe the warmth and caring we felt from the Marriott Team! Thank you again so much!! And Nini thank you for the strength and comfort you passed onto us. I will "sprinkle" kindness as much as I can.

This location of Courtyard by Marriott, which is located in West Orange, NJ, is a hotel of nice value if you're looking to stay in this area! 5-stars for the service & location, as the staff are incredibly kind + helpful, and this hotel is conveniently located near the Montclair Museum of Art (which is why we chose this specific Marriott, as my partner & I were recently attending a wedding at MAM)! This hotel was a short drive away from the museum, which made things super simple. 4-stars for the room quality, as my only complaint is that the space appeared a bit old and worn. I had to call the front desk at one point because I wasn't sure where the diverter was to get water to come out of the shower head after turning it on through the shower faucet. Overall, the room was clean & well-kept, but it just appeared as though the space could use a facelift (honestly, more-so the bathroom than anything else). Otherwise, we had no complaints, and this was a nice spot for us given the location + the price for an overnight stay!

Room was nice and comfortable. Very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast needs more than 1 person working to serve a line of people is not enough. We had to leave and go eat somewhere else because we didn't have 30-45 mins you wait to eat

We stayed here 5 years ago and it was what we expected. Good enough, clean, good service, got our moneys worth. We just came back. Complete shit hole now! STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK! 1. Dirty. Floor was sticky. Sofa bed had dirty linens, we had to change ourselves. Toilet had leak on side. Also it clogged after two nights, asked for a plunger, never came, we left hotel after two hours to go to bathroom elsewhere. 2. Terrible service. Asked for extra towels, responded with HOLD ON! Asked to have our room cleaned, responded with not my room, call front desk! Said above, but never got toilet fixed until later in the evening. Have two kids under 5, not good! 3. Noisy. 3am, a bunch of kids came back from somewhere, had loud party next door. Asked if they could send someone to quiet them down, didn't stop them, and they never tried again. 4. AC units have open wiring hanging out the bottom. Had to use furniture to block it so my children weren't near it. Bottom line, don't stay here. Go to the Cambria next door, much cleaner with much better service. My sister in law chose to stay there instead, we went over to see her and were pissed we didn't choose that hotel.

Best shower pressure ever. There is a lot good and a little bad going on here. First the good. If you need to stay in the area it is convenient. It is right off 280 and next to a lot of shops. They have a bar and the bartender is skilled. Wife got up early and enjoyed coffee by the fireplace and was able to work. The bad, if you want to call it that is the hotel is a little dated. We are platinum elite Mariott members so we have visited many a property. There were a couple of car break ins while we were there. Staff is friendly and helpful. Mariott please invest in this property. It is worth it

I always run clean water to "rinse" the coffee maker from previous coffee pod or tea residue before I make my own cup of coffee, but this time was the first time slime came out with the hot water. After the third pass where I was still seeing chunks in the water, I gave up on using the machine. It is June 1, 2023 and there is no breakfast offered so it makes it doubly sad. On the positive side, there are no bed bugs, the area is relatively safe for a solo female traveler, and the stay otherwise was comfortable.

Do not bc stay here! Absolutely discussed to be greeted by brown water in the morning. Front desk never told us anything upon checkin and when checking out they were like all well it's just the water here. They should warn guests that they cannot use the showers. And on top of that quote one price and then more upon checkout. Called to make adjustments after returning home and they would not budge. Rude. Will never return and I suggest you think twice about staying here.

Assuming reviews posted below are prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since reopening, they've redone the entire hotel. Top to bottom, all has been revamped. The price was to great to pass up with a wedding at a near by venue. Overall, we were pleased with the room layout and everything inside of it! Couch that doubled as a pull out twin bed. Didn't need it as we had a king bed, but nice knowing you can pay the $110.00/night and potentially split that with another person...from the same home of course. Also, they handed us a package of disinfecting wipes! We had our own, but nice knowing they're going above and beyond to protect folks. Lastly, why not 5 stars? Well, the bar wasn't open. Understood with the pandemic, but at least have it open for late night drinks with people spacing out. Lastly, we had some ding dong ditches at 1:00AM Saturday evening. I think a baseball team was staying there, and the kids had some fun late night. Not mad about it, as you can't control it, but maybe have staff in the halls every few moments? Was woken up by crazy knocks and giggles to follow. Would recommend this place for a weekend stay if your in the area. Great price.

Let's just say, I'm done with Marriott properties. They don't work for my travel and financial needs. It was the closest hotel in proximity of St . Barnabus Hospital where my dad was admitted. When you're out of state, living out of a suitcase for two weeks, you want to stay in a room that's like home. Starbucks cafe is there in the lobby serving up all types of stuff at a hefty fee. The nights I got back late to the hotel, it was dark in overflow parking but the electric car area was beautifully lit. No coffee or tea in the lobby and oh know how to get the water to come out of the shower head. You must pull really hard under the nozzle. It's not the standard faucet you pull up. I don't have a lot of strength in my hands so I found it difficult and frustrating. The elderly would definitely have problems. I'll spare you the details how I showered Also that seating area with the glass is dangerous, I tried reaching for my towel (eyes slightly closed) and I bumped into the glass and needless to say I got a bump & bruise under my eye. So, be very careful. The key card system worked intermittently. Sometimes I could get in the room or come in the back door and sometimes I could not. All I can say is I had a clean, comfortable bed each night

As a 2/3 star hotel class this one is pretty good. Second time staying here and we were very pleased. Check in was early and room were typical Courtyard layout. Mattress and linens were very clean and comfortable while the bathroom was standard but clean and serviceable as well. Free WIFI - and ample free parking was also available. In short room was more than acceptable as fairly new and clean throughout the hotel. I didn't partake in the lobby or the Starbucks in the lobby. My two complaints were, the towels in the bathroom were cheap and not soft at all. Secondly the small gym which should have been fine had not one treadmill and the only elliptical machine functioned. All and all since it was a destination wedding and this was the place they selected than it was fine for what it was. Most important is clean room and linens and they did provide that.

No frills dumb downed Marriott brand. They charged my govt card for incidentals after i gave them my personal card. Room was nice. Lame 1998 window a/c unit. Staff was nice.

I booked a two-night block of rooms for my daughter's wedding reception on September 9, 2023. In total, the block was 55 rooms and the vast majority of the rooms were reserved by my guests. I dealt with the Director of Sales, Christine Francescone, who was a complete joy to work with. Christine promptly emailed me an updated list of the rooms reserved in the block anytime I needed it and added rooms to the block when necessary. In addition, I would like to complement the front desk staff for their kind and professional demeanor. Many of my guests shared that the staff was so friendly and helpful. I am a long time Marriott Bonvoy member and stay at Marriotts throughout the continental US often. I was very impressed by this hotel.

This stay has to be one of my favorites. My family and I have been here for about a week. Everyone has been so kind, especially Yvette and Anitra, they have gone out of their way to make us feel like we are at home, and to help our Son who is only a toddler feel at ease in a hotel. The rooms are always so clean, and the beds are so comfy. Our son had a blast relaxing outside in the courtyard, playing, and enjoying the sun. The indoor pool and gym were easily accessible. They had free water for the guests, and a great selection for breakfast and drinks. I felt so bad for the staff because when I was down stairs I overheard this woman being so rude to the front desk. The staff handled the situation with such grace and kindness, but it reminded me to always be kind to others. Thank you again for a wonderful stay. Till next time.

BED BUG DISASTER! I stayed at this hotel on January 25, 2023 and I was awaken by something biting me a little after 2 a.m . in the morning. I immediately turned in the light and lifted up the blanket to see where the biting was coming from, and there I saw a bed big crawling in the blanket. I immediately jumped out the bed and caught the big with a napkin and rushed to the front desk, and yes it was still alive! Although, I was livid, I remained calm. I really wanted to speak with tjr manager who wasn't in at the time. I left my name, number and complain before leaving the hotel so the manager could contact me. Guess what, the manager never gave me a call, so I called the hotel a couple of times and even left a voicemail! Needless to say, I never received a call back. Although, I was switched to a different room, I was was uncomfortable and disgusted and could not sleep at all. Hence, I went to work tired! I do not recommend this hotel, the Cambria next door is much better.

Very nice room, but the shower/bath water never got really hot. An odd response at the desk when I told them: "Why didn't you tell us before you took your shower?" (Water still not hot the next day.) Morning time, I commented that the prices for coffee on the placard were lower than what the cashier was ringing up, and was told that the sign had not been updated. When I said "Maybe it's time for you to update the sign." the response was "It's not MY sign." Very confrontational. So based on the very weird vibe I was getting, I would definitely not stay at this place again. Ever.

Very nice Rooms but poor bathroom cleaninness and for me that's very important. Staff are very friendly pool needs maintenance as well overall had an ok Experience.

I utilized the Courtyard Marriott as my wedding hotel block. Setting up the block was incredibly easy and was done via email. We were given a link that our guests could utilize to book their room at a group rate. Even after the booking date had passed and the rooms were released, customer service, Sole specifically, was wonderful about adjusting room prices to honor the group rate. I booked a suite for two nights for my wedding. The room was large enough to accommodate twelve women, three little girls, and three hair/makeup artists. The hotel was happy to provide extra chairs for the room. I dropped off the welcome bags for my hotel guests two days in advance, and there was no issues with distribution. Upon arrival, I realized the room refrigerators were too small to fit the sandwich trays I had for the next morning; hotel customer service was happy to put the trays in their back refrigerator. Our wedding ended at 11:30 PM, and upon arrival back at the hotel, all the guests congregated in the lobby. While we were initially told that we would be permitted to remain in the lobby until 1 AM, the desk attendants were flexible and we didn't end up leaving the lobby until 3:30 AM without incident. Because the lobby bar and bistro were closed, we were permitted to BYOB and BYOF. Keep in mind that the hotel does not provide a shuttle service to your wedding venue. We had to contract a separate company and provide this service for our guests.

I had a pleasant hotel experience here. Stayed here over a long weekend to attend a wedding at the Manor down the road. My flight came in really early and thankfully I had no issues with a really early morning check-in. Stayed in room 351 which was a king room at the end of the hall away from elevators. Room was comfortable and clean. It did have a faint scent of old cigarette smoke lingering in the carpet or rooms upholstery. Room comes with a twin seat couch, coffee table, desk, mini-fridge, coffee maker and iron with ironing board. The lobby has a sit down Bistro cafe which offers breakfast and dinner a la carte only. I posted a photo of the order menu board. The hotel also has a business center available to guest. The front desk service can be a hit or miss. Came in contact with 4 different ladies at front desk. 2 were very pleasant and accommodating while the other 2 didn't seem as eager to be as accommodating. Overall good hotel visit.

I stayed here for New Year's. Our friends were having their wedding celebration in Glen Ridge and this was the main hotel for the big celebration. It's location is easy to get to from 280 and once you're in the shopping area, just follow the signs for the hotel. Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff was very polite and easy going. The lobby was nicely decorated made for a good gathering place for groups. There is a bistro/restaurant serving food though there wasn't enough time before the wedding to grab a quick bite. Our room was clean, comfortable, smelled fine, and big enough for my husband and I. Our room faced the Macy's Backstage (store) parking lot so we made sure to close the blinds. The pillow was a bit too thick and lumpy for my liking, but the bed was comfortable. I didn't notice any bed bugs. Whew! I was disappointed about missing breakfast (free or not), but enjoyed sleeping in until 11ish. Check-out is at 12. There is free wifi, a decent gym, and coffee maker with decent selection of tea. Probably wouldn't stay here again as I'm a fan of Airbnb, but it was a pleasant stay for $194.

BED BUG NIGHTMARE! Staying at this hotel was the worst experience I ever had with any hotel. I stayed at this hotel on January 25, 2023. While sleeping, I was awaken around 2 a.m by a bed bug biting me. I immediately captured the bed bug with a piece of tissue and sent the bed bug, WHICH WAS STILL ALIVE, to the front desk. I requested a room change and to speak with the manager. My room was changed, but I didn't speak with the manager. The clerk stated that the manager didn't come in until 10 a.m, the following morning, so I left my number for her to call me upon her arrival because I wouldn't be at that location when she arrived to work. Needless to say, the manager never called me, and I called several times and I'm still waiting for a call back. I would upload pictures if I were allowed! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. THE CAMBRIA, NEXT DOOR IS MUCH BETTER AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY FIRST AND ONLY CHOICE FROM NOW ON.

I tried to block rooms for an event and the sales lady was not very friendly. I asked the manager to look at rooms and she gave me a hard time as well. They were not very helpful or friendly. Being that I live in town I thought it would be great to stay local. But i refuse to do business with people who are short with me or unavailable for me to view meeting rooms. So we will block our rooms in Parsippany, NJ. The sales people at the Embassy Suites & Hyatt was very nice, and helpful. I was told that most ppl in our town go out to Parsippany. Its such a shame. The hotel looked very nice, but they do not serve free breakfast either.

Not a good experience at all. After celebrating my birthday i was talking in the room with two of my friends. We were not loud just talking. I received a call from the night staff asking us to please stop having a party. I explained we are only talking. I turned down my television thinking that maybe the tv was too loud and continued my conversation. I then receive a knock at my door from the night staff saying if i wasn't quiet she would have to call the police and i would have to leave. Apparently the walls are paper thin because it was ridiculous how i was treated. Instead of seeing for herself that there was no party going on she strictly took the side of the other guest. I will NEVER stay here again.

Incredibly noisy. After a long day of travel...and seemingly longer family holiday party, I was truly looking forward to a good night's sleep. I did not get that good night sleep here. The walls and floors are incredibly thin and doors very heavy, that jolt you awake when closed. There were people in and out all night, housekeeping too early for comfort, and zero customer service to be found when I attempted to call the front desk. After shoving tissues into my ears, and downloading a white noise app, I still only received about 2 hours of sleep. The front desk agent saw my very tangelble discomfort, and said nothing. No "how was your stay". This is probably my third Yelp review in five years, so hopefully that says more than I can articulate after next to know sleep while writing this. I will be looking to stay somewhere else before my flight out of Newark.

If I could give this Courtyard more than ten stars, I would. I was absolutely blown away by the incredible customer service provided especially by the general manager Peter Wenzell and Director of Style Daniel Canarte. I responded to Mr. Wenzell's initial welcome email with a note that I was flying out from California for a funeral of a close friend and would be late checking in. He immediately replied with condolences and asked what they could do for me. (Really, I just wanted them to know I'd be checking in late and not to give my room away.) Anyway, I arrived at the hotel after a long and emotional flight only to find that they'd upgraded me to a beautiful suite, left me a bouquet of flowers and a cheese & fruit plate, and the most touching condolence card. The suite served as a central meeting spot for several of us after the funeral which was probably one of the most memorable point of the entire sad experience for all of us. I cannot thank the Courtyard enough -- especially Mr Wenzell and Mr Canarte -- for being so caring and so....human. I will never forget their kindness and will remain a loyal Marriott customer (and always recommend it to any and everyone I come across in the future). And, oh yes, the room was beautifully clean and comfortable -- which is what I look for in a hotel room always. :-) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I had the opportunity to stay here for three nights. The accommodations were typical for a Courtyard. The check-in process was quick and smooth. My room was clean. The morning team at the Bistro were pleasant and helpful.

Perfect location and room was clean and NO odors in the room. Very quiet throughout the night within the hallways. A very small fitness center (2 treadmills and the tv was on the wall behind me as I ran ??) Courteous staff and front desk help.

Well, I probably should be mad that they oversold their hotel on the same day I booked, but because the management at courtyard knows good customer service, they get five stars. They comp'd me one free night at Wilshire Grand (see my review why Wilshire sucks). Nonetheless, it was free! Courtyard is well situated next to the mall and other stuff. The rooms are regular courtyard style. The service here is so much better than Wilshire. They actually smile at you here! The amenities are pretty standard and they have free coffee and tea in the lobby. They also have two computers and printer for use.

Unfortunately I left my brand new robe in the bathroom. I called as soon as I got home which was only 1 hour away. I was told it wasn't there when I know for a fact I left it there. Unbelieveable and dishonest workers!

When separating myself from my cash, I have some rules that I try to stick with whenever possible. Shop local, buy American, and avoid chains. While this is a good thing for restaurants and services, when it comes to hotels I like a big chain like Marriott. This Courtyard location will be my part-time home away from home for the next 6+ months while I'm on a consulting gig at a nearby hospital. So I'm happy to say that like all Marriott-flavored hotels I've dealt with over the years, it's a great place to stay. As usual, it's uber-clean, well maintained and the staff are helpful. This particular location is also close to anything you might need. Forget your undies? Macy's is a stone's throw away. There is also a Whole Foods, a movie theater, and a number of different dining choices nearby. This Courtyard also has a small bistro, and whoever does their cooking knows their stuff - I had breakfast there daily and dinner one evening and it was all really good. I've stuck with Marriott over the years for many reasons; consistency, quality, and most of all - Marriott Rewards! If you travel a lot for business, their rewards program is hard to beat. I've been on numerous vacations at 4 and 5-diamond hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean using nothing but points.

The first night at CourtYard I would have given it a 1 star. Greeted by a guy singing at the entrance, he wasn't hired to be there. The lobby is an area of frenzied activity at 11pm on a Saturday night. The clerk was busy talking to coworkers and charging the for the items from the store then to deal with paying guest. The bathroom smelled like mold and was torn up. The refrigerator didn't work and was torn apart. The room was basically a mess. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved but they said the hotel was full and there wasn't anything they could do. The room was at street level and next to the road, very noisy. The door didn't keep any of the hallway sound out so it was a noisy night. I could hear the people above stomping about most of the night and into the early hours of the morning. Lets say not a very restful first night. In the morning I went to the front desk, luckily there was a different staff member there that seem to care about the customers. I requested to be moved to a different room that wasn't on the first floor and away from the road. They actually got me a room on the third floor that was very nice. Don't know why the front desk person the first night couldn't have got me a different room for the second night, but they didn't seem too inclined to do their job anyway. The second night was more of what I expect a Courtyard to be. I'd give it a sold 4 star if the first night wasn't such a nightmare. The smell of mold and the bathroom walls full of holes is unacceptable. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again.

stayed 1 night for a wedding that my friends and I were attending nearby. we were able to check-in early, which was great. room for 2 guests was pretty large, clean, had a small balcony, and very comfortable. plenty of Uber drivers within a short distance (which was clutch, since we were going to drink all day). free parking too. pretty close to Newark Airport and a short drive to/from Queens and Brooklyn - I was able to make it to Brooklyn in 45 minutes from here, and that's with construction by the tunnels. shopping area right next door with Panera, Shop-Rite, and a few other stores. the fridge is big enough to hold an ample amount of beer - just an FYI. breakfast is a bit expensive, as predicted, but not outrageously so. and it's freshly made. my egg white frittata with spinach, avocado, and cucumber was surprisingly good. very large lobby with a lot of space to relax; several TVs and plenty of tables. more importantly, the staff didn't hassle my friends and I when we set up shop to play board games there until the wee hours after a days' worth of drinking and partying. for a one-night stay at a fairly inexpensive rate, it served a purpose and fulfilled that.

I've been to so many Marriotts and some really do differ from each other. This place had VERY friendly front desk workers (they seemed quite genuine too), clean facilities, and a decent breakfast in the AM. Only complaint (and it's a mild one) is the room set up. the TV was facing the couch and you had to turn it to have it face the bed. No big deal, but then apart of the side was hidden while watching TV in bed with the way the dimensions were. Kind of weird. Also, shuttle service was amazing so any prospective wedding parties considering booking here (which I what I was there for) should totally consider this place.

I stay here for business and my only real issue with the hotel is the Internet connection. The connection is darn right horrible. I get a faster connection using my Sprint Air Card then I do on the hotel wireless. If you are planning on doing some Internet intensive work (remote log-ins, connecting to VPNs, etc.) then don't plan on it being quick. The workout facilities seems to be on a downhill trend. The facility is small and contains two treadmills, an elliptical and a multifunction weight machine. One of the foot stands on the elliptical is loose, so you have to balance yourself. There is only one weight pin, so only one person can use the weight machine at a time, even though each part can be used separately. The rooms themselves are kept clean and are comfortable, but I have experienced a bug sighting during one of my three stays. There are microwaves and mini-fridges in each room, which is a very nice convenience. The lobby and breakfast areas are kept clean and the staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs.

Very attentive staff and comfortable rooms. I like that there is a cafe where I purchase a healthy egg white sandwich or a fruit cup before work. They also serve Starbucks coffee, which is nice. Panera is also within the same shopping center, so breakfast is really convenient. The exercise room is clean and adequate. The price of a room seems a bit high for a Courtyard, but it is better to stay here rather than in Newark. The parking lot seems a bit over capacity. I often travel 30 min away to the Short Hills mall for dinner or shopping.

Stayed here several times visiting friends in nearby Montclair. There is a closer residence inn that seems very nice but the prices are always outrageous. The prices can be a bit high at this courtyard as well but a nice hotel and close to worth the price. It is in a great location near the highway and walking distance from a large strip mall with movie theater, grocery store, restaurants, etc. The rooms are large and recently redone with modern decorations, big tv, fridge, etc. While no free breakfast like most courtyards, everything is nice and big and redone and feels nicer than many courtyards. Thick walls too, didnt hear the neighbors.

I stayed at this hotel for a week during a work trip. This hotel is not ideal when you are depending on your sleep in the morning or if you are expecting a relaxing get away. The walls are so thin, I could hear the toilet flushing in the room next door and everything and anything in the hallways. House keeping does not make it a priority to talk quietly and woke me up every morning by speaking amongst themselves in what sounded very aggressive with each other. My toilet ran 24/7 which is another noise concern. The first night there was a large group of teenagers running around the hallways and "ding dong ditched" my room. I didn't think into it as it was harmless. That was until the noise continued well after midnight and I could hear happy Birthday being sang from who knows how many rooms down. I kept opening my hotel room door thinking they were literally outside my door. This made it hard to focus at work with very little sleep. The price is high for the quality you receive.

This was one of the nicer places that I have been to and I have been to quite a few places for travel and work. The staff was very kind and extrememly helpful. Room was clean, orderly and modernized. There is a service where you can order food and have it delivered directly to your door so you don't have to pick it up at the lobby. I ordered food and it arrived hot and ready to eat. A little pricey, but it is for convenice so I am not complaining. The food was great by the way. Later that evening, my t.v. died for some reason. I called the front desk and shortly after the maintenance man came with the front desk person to fix it and they were very apologetic. I didn't mind as these things do happen and I guess because I was patient about it one of the gentleman offered me breakfast for the next day. I explained that I would be leaving before breakfast started so he gave me a voucher for a free drink in the lobby instead. That was the kindest gesture and made my day. Overall a great stay and if I have work in the area again I would stay this hotel once more. Thanks for your great service Courtyard West Orange!

My sole review is based upon the Bistro. Pros: Josie and Ana provided the best service I could ask for on any of my travels to the NY/NJ area. They consistently had friendly conversations with me and didn't think twice about being attentive to my needs. The food was absolutely amazing. It all tasted homemade. The best meal on the entire menu is the tuna and cole slaw. The best I've EVER had. One night I decided to eat at TGI Fridays and found it to be completely disgusting. I'll eat at the Bistro every night due to the service and great food that Ana and Josie provided me. These two should be commended as they are a great asset to the hotel. Cons: The morning Bistro never opens at 6:30am. Guests can be found mulling around the lobby waiting before going to work.

Horrible experience. Was waiting in line for breakfast. Two people ahead of me. When it was my turn, 4 people came up from behind including one extremely self-absorbed female. She said that the employees knew her. So the staff took these people's orders over mine even though I was next in line. Would never go back. Many other better hotels in the area.

So I'm going to start off by leaving this review saying that I'm only here for a defensive driving course but as I was here there was a Starbucks inside the building and I don't like Starbucks at all cuz I've had too many bad past experiences however the three ladies that work behind the counter one of them came to me and asked if I wanted to get something I said no I've had too many bad past experiences I don't need another lady then with a smile of course and great attitude said well how about this I make you a caramel macchiato and I guarantee it will taste good and she said it's on her I said okay fine luckily to say that when you sip and taste the caramel it's okay but the rest of the coffee naturally is not that good I'm sorry it's like drinking dirt and then having a more disgusting back taste than ever but the only reason why this review has five stars and I'm sure you're wondering why is only because of the great service they gave always with a smile they didn't even frowned once but they did greet everyone that came to the counter got it as far as the orders on the spot they were extremely nice well helpful and made the customer feel appreciated so as far as customer service goes this is a five-star as far as the coffee goes I wish I can go negative 5 but I can't

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! THEY'LL DOUBLE CHARGE YOU! I made the mistake of booking several rooms for my wedding party at this hotel, and from the beginning I started to receive complaints from my guests about how difficult it was to book a room here - either their website was down, or the front desk person didn't know about the special rate they had promised us, etc. I ended up booking several of the reservations myself (on behalf of my guests), and throughout the process the hotel staff was constantly making errors, like misspelling people's names, not sending confirmation emails, and either creating new reservations out of thin air or duplicating existing ones. We attributed this to innocuous stupidity on their part, and we tried to work to correct it. However, after the wedding, I checked my credit card statement and the hotel had charged me almost $200 even though all my guests had paid for their own stays. It has taken me over four months and three rounds of disputes through my credit card company (bless Amex for their infinite patience) to finally figure out that the morons who run this hotel made a duplicate reservation for my mother but didn't notify anyone. I guess they didn't realize that they had two people with the same name, credit card, and contact info checking in on the same night??? The dispute is not over yet. Anyway, if you value your sanity (and your money!) do not stay at this hotel!

I called a couple of times to make a reservation for a wedding. Without letting me finish speaking they yelled the corporate reservation number to me and hung up the phone. Once I arrived the front desk staff was incredibly rude and my non smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes. I would recommend staying away from this place.

Great check-in /very modern , spacious Lobby with Starbucks bistro and bar. King bed Room is clean and sunny. Cozy bed, nice desk, couch, small coffee bar, closet, fridge and ample bathroom. Laundry facility, pool, whirlpool, fitness room and you can walk to stores!

This is my parents' choice of hotels for when they come to visit (there's not much room at my place so they prefer staying at a hotel). They've stayed at a couple others in the area, but this is the only one they go back to now, so that's gotta say something! The price is pretty normal for a Marriot. If you're a senior or have some sort of special membership (AAA, military, etc), call ahead to see about discounts because they sometimes have specials. As with most hotels, be sure to book well in advance if you'll be visiting on a holiday weekend, too, or you'll be stuck with a different hotel nearby that won't be as nice.

Bed bugs beware! I stayed at this hotel for two nights in room 359. I realized upon waking the next day I had approximately 6 bed bug bites! I have never experienced this before! Overall hotel appeared to be clean. Front desk was very friendly. Only other complaint is that at the bistro most of items on menu seemed to not be available. I would not stay at this hotel again if in town for business due to the bed bug bites!

My job booked me a two night stay here due to winter storm Jonas. It's a decent hotel. Service was good. There's a fitness center, swimming pool, and a bistro that's only open for breakfast and dinner. They have a guest microwave in the mini-mart by the reception desk. It would have been nice to have an actual mini fridge rather than just a chiller in the room.

Stayed here for our wedding. Love the furniture placement in our room. Lots of space and tables/drawers to put out many items. Perfect for us and our guests!

Bed Bugs! I stayed at this hotel as part of a bridal party. When we arrived we were told the reservation confirmed the day before was not available as secured. The woman who assisted us was as gracious as she could be, however not being a manager was unable to do more than offer us a second room to accommodate our party at a non-discounted price. Myself and another bridesmaid indicated that we found this to be unacceptable and wished to speak to a manager as soon as possible. We later received a call indicating that we'd received a discount on all of our rooms, bringing the total costs slightly below what we would have been paying for our initial reservation. It wasn't the arrangement the bride had envisioned, but I appreciated the staff's proactive and timely response to our situation. I only wish that behavior had extended in regard to a much more serious issue. Leaving the hotel and returning home it became immediately apparent that I had suffered an extensive bed bug attack while staying in the hotel, (room 312 I believe), I had over 30 bed bug bites covering the extent of my body, including my face; a number of which, due to an allergic reaction swelled painfully. I spoke with my friend, who had shared the room with me, and confirmed she too had a number of bed bug bites. I called the hotel to speak with the manager Howard Spellman, to inform him of the situation. Everything that happened from that point on has been disappointing and frustrating. In first speaking with Howard he was dismissive to both myself and my friend, as we called separately to report the problem. He offered no apology, implied that it was something we probably brought with us, but did say the room would be inspected. A week went by with no response. On contacting him to follow up, we were informed the room had been checked and indeed bed bug activity had been confirmed. Still no apology. We were told that the cost of the room would be refunded and we were offered 10,000 Marriott points, not beneficial to us as neither myself or my friend are Marriott rewards members, and after minimal research we discovered would be equal to about a one night stay at their lower category hotels. Or about $100 as a fiscal equivalent; which, if it could be exchanged for dollars, wouldn't even cover the cost of having to have my home serviced by bed bug exterminators once I returned. Furthermore, as my friend lived in Chicago and I live in Maryland were we supposed to split the points, making them even less effective since she too had to have her home serviced by bed bug professionals? As an alternative we asked to be given a weekend stay at a higher category hotel, and was told by Howard Spellman that in order to do that he would have to contact general managers at other hotels to see what was possible. Again, no apology, no expression of sincere regret for us having to go through this truly unsettling experience. The amount of paranoia that follows you after having endured such a severe attack is immense, for both my friend who travels quite frequently for work spending a high percentage of her time in hotels, and for myself, who as a home care provider, remained concerned for some time that by simply returning from what should have been a pleasurable weekend, I was endangering the woman I care for who was confined to her bed. So therein lies my confusion and disappointment when up until this point, nothing else has been done. Throughout this whole process nothing has been handled with a sense of urgency and a desire to compensate us for a truly horrible experience. There has been no proactive demonstration on behalf of hotel management to express sympathy for our experience and do whatever is in their power to right this situation. Phone calls went easily a week without being returned. My last 2 calls have not been returned at all. Stagnation in getting this resolved has been explained away with the excuse that things have been 'busy'. One hold up mentioned, again after I called to inquire on the status of the situation, (not in response to them reaching out to me), is that nothing had been done because we needed to provide a list of hotels we wished to stay at; because, and I quote, the manager, "wasn't going to just call a bunch of different hotels". Really? I worked in hospitality for the better part of my career and if a guest was this severely inconvenienced then we did whatever was necessary to restore our reputation in their eyes, because every guest counts. Be careful if you stay here, check your mattress and ask when your room was last exterminated.

Very sad! Ruined my whole trip from being tired. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. The sheets are very rough and did not fit the bed and they kept coming off the bed all night, both my husband and I had a horrible nights sleep. Marriott is really going downhill. I had 2 reservations coming up in June at different locations and I canceled them both! My suggestion is do not stay at this hotel! Rethink!,

Came here and was greeted with a hello and a cold bottle of water, a perk of being a Marriott Rewards member. Check in was quick as there were 2-3 people working the front desk and I was in my room in no time. There was a king bed available on all three floors and the receptionist asked me which floor I wanted to be on, being given the choice was nice. Upon entering my room it was clean and the air conditioner was on, which was a "cool" welcome from the clammy and hot outdoors. The sheets and towels smelled of a nice detergent that wasn't too overpowering. My only complaint is that there was a brownish stain on the couch and no microwave in the room, so I had to walk to the main lobby and use that microwave, which wasn't a big issue. It was a Thursday night and later on in the evening freshly popped popcorn was being served in individual bags to accommodate the football game. Even if you weren't watching the game you could grab a bag....or two. The microwave on the first floor was clean and there was definitely plenty of room and seating if you had a large party watching the football game as well as plenty of televisions. Check out was a breeze and I was on the road quickly. The hotel is located next to a shopping area so if you forget anything it's a short drive away as well as there being food options.

Unbelievable. Would give 0 stars if I could. We were just dropped by a car from the airport after a flight across the country to find that they didn't hold the number of beds we reserved for our room. Written confirmation for three adults / two queen beds. They have one room with one bed. No rollaway beds at the hotel - they've given them away. No explanation, just no beds.

So lobby and place is nice and one member of the staff Lorraine I think was very nice, but I had to give it a 2 star because the guest services manager Sole was sooo rude. We tried to call about reserving a block rooms for a wedding and no one got back to us. We called and left messages and then after a week of calling we finally got through and all she can say was "no availability". Like her whole demeanor was no availability, I don't care, get off the phone. Just very rude.
