BEST BBQ in DFW!!! Don’t miss out on this experience. We are keeping this place in mind to treat any visitors to great BBQ…and we have tried many all over the USA. Great family spirit, super welcoming, the young man who took our order was genuine, friendly and…patient. We love the trays, very plentiful, flavorful and the right price. Go and enjoy!

Google
Absolutely outstanding! Visited here with a friend who has been raving about this place for you a while. All I knew about this place was that the cookies were outstanding because he would bring me one on occasion. Walked into a very nice atmosphere and amazing and polite staff. The food is top-notch, perfectly smoked to perfection, nice and juicy cuts of meaty happiness. Then, to top off my meal, the chocolate chip cookie I had been waiting for did not disappoint. I will definitely be making a trip back!

Google
Such a great place for bbq. Enjoyed the 3 meat platter with moist brisket, ribs, and sausage. Of the 3 items, the moist brisket stood out the most. Mmm mmmm good!!! 6pm on a Thursday and the place is packed. That's a great sign of how much everyone enjoys Cousins BBQ.

Google
Meats were good. Mac@cheese too watery. Table was clean, but the floor under the table had food all around it. I didn't notice till I sat down.

Google
Never tried this place before this review but I did get food to go a while back so I’m just now leaving a review. This was honestly probably the worst barbecue I’ve ever had. I mean I didn’t even finish it that day. The potato salad was so bad that I got Walmart potato salad instead. The flavoring of everything was just off. Ribs were not it but I forced myself to eat some of the meat. Brisket was just dry as hell. Sausage was nasty as well. Plate ended up in the trash upside down but they tried, barbecue isn’t for everyone.

Google
I wanted some good Texas Barbecue and I found it! I was greeted by the nicest bearded gentleman who made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I’ve been mostly eating lots of salads lately, but I wanted to have a serving of brisket so I ordered the salad with the brisket on top for $15. That was the most tender and delicious brisket that I’ve ever had. The meat was so tender that when I stabbed it with my fork it literally fell apart. And the barbecue sauce just enhanced the flavor. It was topped with two crispy fried onion rings. The bowl of salad was a hefty serving and I literally took half home in a to go box. I also ordered a serving of peach cobbler for $5 and took that to go also. It was a great dessert to have later in my hotel room. And finally a sweet tea. What a great meal to have as my last dinner in Texas before heading home. I’m definitely getting some barbecue from here the next time I’m in town.

Google
Cousins has three locations in Fort Worth. 1st time to visit the Bryant Irvin location. Nice atmosphere, spacious, inviting and well decorated. They offer dine-in and take out options. Menu seems a little different than the other location I've tried on Mc cart Ave. The meat was a little heavy on the salt side. My other dinner companions felt the same as well with the side items also. I would definitely give them another try because I really liked the atmosphere and service, very accommodating.

Google
Absolutely delicious!!! Super cool spot . The baked beans were the best I ever had. I would definitely try it if u got the chance. The BBQ sauce was not my favorite. But everything else was amazing! Oh and the jalapeno cheddar sausage was to die for!!! Best I ever had in my life!

Yelp
We went for happy hour!! 3-7p Monday -Friday Had a few beers and well drinks. Had to try their wings. Got the spicy smoked wings. Omg so delicious and i should have got 2 orders! It's a small bar it got busy around 5 and might have to wait on a drink once or twice! Overall we will be back again

Yelp
We met the kids here for a family dinner. We all ordered the all you can eat special with drinks. I had ribs, chicken and jalapeno sausage, wife had sausage, brisket and pulled pork, kids had a variety as well. Ribs were ok, chicken was a bit underwhelming and jalapeno sausage was good. The sides (besides Mac and cheese) seem to be vinegar based and we were all thinking no on them. Refills of food was good service wise, however I wasn't impressed with most of what I ate, nor was my wife. The kids seemed happy (kids being daughter and son in law) with their meals. Restaurant was pretty clean and nicely laid out. I've had better bbq & I've had worse bbq. I doubt I'd eat here again, as there are better options in my opinion that are close.

Yelp
The meat?? YAY!! Brisket and ribs were good! Service great! Sides-meh to gross. Cole slaw-good! Corn should not be in a cheese sauce. Potato salad was sour--too much vinegar or dill juice?? Idk but just nope. Too expensive for the sides to not be on point. This wasn't my first trip to Cousins. But I remember why I don't eat there very often.
google avatar

Yelp
Been going for 38 years. Always clean , polite, & BBQ is good. As cooks change so do the sides, but that is personal taste.

Yelp
Our experience at Cousins was marked by hits and misses which is why it only rates a 3. My wife and I shared a three meat platter with brisket, ribs and sausage. The two sides we chose were street corn and collards. The hits were the sausage and street corn. The sausage was delicious. It has a nice spiciness and was cooked with a little crispness to the outside. The street corn was full of rich flavors and was very enjoyable. On the other end of the dining spectrum the brisket was dry which in my book is a cardinal sin of any bbq restaurant. The fattiness should always counter balance any dryness. The ribs were basically all fat so they were the opposite problem from the brisket. The collards were extremely soupy. They were swimming. Overall, even with a couple of highlights this was a disappointing bbq meal.

Yelp
Love the sign out side before you walk in! The restaurant was busy but clean. The service was nice and very friendly. The food was really tasty, we got fried okra ( the best so far) street corn ( had a nice spicy kick to it) the brisket ( loved the smoke on it) ribs were cooked nicely and the banana pudding was out of this world good and the peach cobbler was amazing( a little hint.... Ask for a scoop of ice cream on top of it(it's not on the menu BUT they do have it!! The beer on top was so cold ( served in a chilled mug) highly recommend coming in for a bit to eat here!! We'll be back soon

Yelp
Cousins is always our first stop when we visit family and friends in Fort Worth. The BBQ is delicious and the sides and cobbler are great. We all think they should switch back to the old (and far better) potato salad recipe. We wish they'd bring back the cherry cobbler--I'd pay double. We recently visited with someone in a wheelchair and the restaurant isn't as accessible since the remodel. Outside the handicapped spots aren't near the door, but are on the side of the building and downhill across uneven asphalt. We've had a low speed rollaway granny once or twice. She's usually had enough margaritas for it it be a bit of a thrill.

Yelp
We spent my grown son's birthday there this Saturday. We enjoyed the bar side table seating and were served by the bar tender (Mike maybe). He was a young hipster type and was SO attentive! He definitely took care of us. I ordered the ribs, which were delicious! The okra was good enough and the potato salad was the mayonnaise based. It was good enough, but to be fair, my preference is mustard. The restrooms and tables were clean. Overall , we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I've lived in Fort Worth for 30+ years now and I've been coming to THIS cousins for the entire time. Even through the remodel when they had the to-go only. I associate this place with lunches with my father, my sergeant major from the army, my sons. I loved the old school cousins and the new NEO BBQ concept doesn't disappoint. I have loved everything I've gotten. Beers specials are great and the service is uncompromised. 20 year familiar faces STILL recognize you coming through the doors the place holds it's warm bbq wood everywhere finish but has opened up to a cool clean restaurant with wall fixtures and things to look around at. Love Cousins, and unless they make a drastic change for the worse I will forever like local Cousins. This one on Bryant Irvin is top tier.

Michael R.

Yelp
Above average Texas BBQ, offers an "all you can meat" option for unlimited food. We werent in the market for this so went for a 1 meat plate for her and a brisket sandwich for me. The brisket sandwich comes with one side for $12 and that was reasonable. The "cousins plate" on the kids menu is a slightly downsized 1 meat tray with 2 sides, perfect for most female appetites. Typical of these places they don't offer table service, but do bring out the food you ordered. clean enough, comfortable enough. Above average.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Cousins BBQ, excellent!!!!!! Super fast service. Very clean restaurant The smoked Brisket, either in a sandwich or a Meat Plate are worth the drive. The sides are also very good, wide variety This place perfectly for kids

Tomy S.

Yelp
I stopped by Cousin's on Bryant Irving on my way home I purchased the two meat plate which was double ribs, There was barely any meat on them, the mac & cheese as well as the beans we're cold not to mention the peach cobbler was very dry. I use to visit the McCart location all the time when I came in town Mr. Cliff and all of the Original people were there...since they have left the service and food is not very good I WILL NOT BE VISITING EITHER LOCATION AGAIN.

Yelp
Stopped into Cousin's BBQ after an appointment. This is the first time visiting this establishment and I enjoyed my sandwich very much. For being a newbie at a Cousin's BBQ, the ordering can be a little overwhelming, but the young lady at the counter was extremely helpful! I ordered the sliced brisket - lean and it was delicious. Mouthwatering - tender and cooked to perfection. My side was the bacon potato salad and I'm sorry to say - it wasn't my cup of tea. Oh well, but I'm very picky with my potato salads . I grabbed a slice of strawberry cake for dessert and I'll sum it up in one word ... YUM. If you haven't tried Cousin's BBQ - I recommend you give it a shot.

Yelp
Barbecue is tradition, about the land, family heritage and community staples. @cousinstxbbq has been loading their pits since 1983. Calvin (aka "Boots") and Beverly feed their customers Texas Barbecue from recipes handed down for generations. We were greeted and served with hospitality you'd expect in Texas. We really felt looked after. Everything was delicious. Mac & cheese surprised me. So cheese-a-licious. The cookies and on tap root beer are standouts you don't want to miss! Might be the best cookies in the metroplex. Ambiance is a bit different by location but you'll love it all the same.
google avatar

Peggy W.

Yelp
Bar-b-que has a great flavor you have to ask if you want fat cap with to be included in the preparation of your beef brisket. The staff is always quick to respond to customers request and the restaurants decor is country with a twist of city.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
What's up, this is the third time in the last 3 months, all they have left to serve is chopped brisket! Doesn't really matter what time of the evening Very bad management!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
The food was delivered very quickly, we waited maybe 5 minutes. The ambiance is fun and very Texas western. We got the brisket and that is a must when you come visit. The man n cheese was also very delicious. I think the serving size was a little smaller than we were expecting, but you can buy large servings of just meat. We had never had Texas bbq before, so it was good. We would go back.

Mike F.

Yelp
Just picked up order: Sliced beef plate and sliced beef sandwich plate. The meat was nearly all fat on both. Neither plate was eatable! We live in Texas and eat Barbecue a lot. This was the worst ever! Really inexcusable.. Never again..
google avatar

Alexandra G.

Yelp
I'm not originally from Texas so I have been open to trying all things barbecue but this place was very delicious. I live the chopped brisket and ribs. The sliced chicken breast is so tender and never dry. The place itself is always so clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and was patient while I tried to decide on the menu.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
Brisket heaven . I got regular and husband got lean . Both perfectly juicy Bacon potato salad. Pulled pork. MIL got the brisket sandwich with fries. All great! Highly recommend if you visit the Ft Worth area
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
If you have never had the Cousin's Sliced Brisket Baked Potato...you are missing out! This thing is ridiculous! While Cousin's BBQ remains a 3.5 or 4 star...this baked potato sliced brisket (I ask for moist or fatty brisket) is a champion! You WILL be addicted!

Chanel M.

Yelp
Paid $5 dollars for 3 bites of banana pudding. The cashier was nice in the drive thru.

Bill H.

Yelp
"Happy hour" and ordered two hamburgers and fries. Wife asked for hers without tomato as she is allergic. We were informed that, this being the "happy hour" they come 'as-is' without substitutions. If she wanted anything altered on the order, like leaving off the tomato, we would have to pay the full price of the meal when it was not "happy hour". She informed them of her allergy, and that cross-contamination was even an issue if we were to remove the tomato, so could they just put it on the plate and not the hamburger? 1) No. No can do! No substitutions during this time because: They are too busy then. However there were less than a dozen people in the place at the time. 2) They could leave off the tomato, but we would be charged full price, which was an additional $8.00 ... to leave off a slice of tomato.... We left. We complained online. We got a phone call from someone who doubled-down on their argument about being 'busy' when they were not... Plenty of other places to eat where they don't try to snow you with lies.

Yelp
Self order restaurant with table service is awesome. Seasoned fries were the bomb! This brisket and cheese sandwich was absolutely the best I've had ever. Not much bbq sauce but plenty of brisket and cheese. The sauce they used was delicious and tangy with just a hint of spices. The seasoned fries were absolutely delicious and plentiful. Everyone else's food was the same from the pork ribs to the beef salad. We sat outside in the covered patio and enjoyed talking to each other. The ambiance inside was conservative and clean same with the restrooms. I highly recommend this fine bbq restaurant.

Yelp
Bring back the old Cousin's! We visited this location tonight and wow not even close to what it used to be. I got the two meat plate with sliced brisket, ribs collard greens and beans. The brisket was underwhelming and the ribs were tough. The collard green and beans were good, but should not have been the highlight of the meal. My wife got the loaded baked potato with chopped beef and it was just OK. Ever since they went through the remodel the food has not been the same. They are trying too hard to keep up with all the BBQ new comers. Cousin's use to be the old trusty and always consistent not so much now. They need to bring back the old menu including the chicken and the broccoli rice casserole. It will be a while before I even think about going back.
google avatar

Shayleen M.

Yelp
The bbq was solid. I really enjoyed the ribs and fell in love with the jalapeño cheddar sausage. As per Texas tradition, the baked potato was HUGE and packed with cheese! However, the star of the show was the banana pudding. Now, I will say they strayed from traditional recipe and added cake with the cookies, but the pudding part was on point! BBQ is not true BBQ if you don't finish with banana pudding. I gave 4 stars because the collard greens were not to my liking - I prefer them a little spicy and theirs was on the sweet side. Mac 'n cheese was also creamy and worth a selection for one of the sides. Also, be sure to order at least 2 of the toast- buttery goodness!
google avatar

Shirley M.

Yelp
The drive thru at Cousins is very unreliable. Tonight I tried yet again. The last three times I've gone there I have had missing items in my order. Tonight I received no sauce for a sandwich. Very dry eating and disappointing. They also left out two cookies that were ordered. Last time they left out an entire order of fries. You'd think they would notice, but they didn't. The visit before that the sandwich was left out. If you go there I think you have to stay and check the order carefully before clearing the drive thru line for all those people waiting impatiently behind you.

Kelly G.

Yelp
The bartenders are awesome.. food is great too.. The place is clean and the Happy Hour prices are amazing!!

Melissa A.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat. Generous servings. Welcoming and friendly staff. Shout out to Jacob for excellent customer service.

Rocky M.

Yelp
Terrible, just terrible. The sliced beef is sliced fat, no meat at all. Its cold and the sausage isn't cooked. You should be ashamed selling fat as sliced beef.
google avatar

Zak M.

Yelp
Pretty good food but kind of a sleepy ambience. Brisket and pork were cooked to expectation and the service was quick and accurate. Only food complaint was that the Mac & Cheese was a bit more watery than desired.

Steve S.

Yelp
Came to the McCart store expressly for the BBQ chicken. Out.... Settled for brisket. Dry.... Heard another customer order ribs. Out.... I wonder if Burger King runs out of hamburgers?

Mr. M.

Yelp
This is OK but not great bbq. I'd compare it to one of those giant service station tourist trap places you see along the interstates. Yes it's smoked meat, yes they give you a lot for a cheap price, but nothing worth writing home about. The food was not bad per say just not memorable or worth a second visit.

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Just passing through on business... Food was pretty good... Brisket and macaroni were on point... But the gem of this place is the customer service... Showed up super close to closing and it was absolutely no problem at all to dine in... and the beer was ice cold.

Victoria R.

Yelp
Had a delicious lunch today at Cousins BBQ. Hadn't eaten here before, but hubs uses them for catering. Fave items were ribs, brisket, okra, potato salad & pickled onions. "Tray Specials" good value - all this was bout $40 & enough for 4 people. Bryant Irvin location - seems recently renovated inside w/large covered patio. Helpful friendly staff.
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
So good! Got the brisket, ribs and chicken and they were all great. Probably the best Texas corn I ever had!
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
We visited this place because recommendation by coworker for more affordable price. A 3 meat plate for $21 which you can't beat that all. Overall the service is very easy and portion is for normal adult. I picked the prime chopped brisket, pork ribs and pulled pork, which are great combination. It was definitely good Texas BBQ, but there are room for improvement. The collard greens were too salty. My co-worker ordered the "big urban" and looked delicious. Customer can order wine at the bar and not the kitchen counter. In general, this place is more toward local family and average workers. If you want to buy meat and seasoning to be your own "master chef", then there is a section at the corner. Overall the layout is very open and roomy, which it great for summer time ; )

Rick H.

Yelp
Great happy hour - cheap drinks, good food. Good service, great place to hang out. We will be back.

Yelp
Gotta get BBQ when I'm Texas. This is one of the several location Cousin'S BBQ. It a order at counter service. Line up against beautiful wall pictures. Menu is above counter. Tell the server what you want. It my first time so I went all out and order 3 meat Combo brisket, sausage and pork ribs. They weigh the food first then plate and you get choose 2 sides and Texas toast. I got fried orka and broccoli rice casserole. Dessert...I had banana pudding with sweet tea. And extra bbq sauce on side for dipping. Free refill on drinks. Price was reasonableness. I clean the plate. So you know it was good!!!

Quirk D.

Yelp
I'll start out and say I've been coming to cousins for decades. The service and interior is amazing. Friendly ppl and wonderful feeling. That said, the food is below quality that I expect in Fort Worth now. Mac and cheese didn't even get to Kraft package quality, obviously made with powder or some processed almost cheese. Guys it's easy, decent cheese and noodles that's it. I got a chopped beef sandwich. It was about the quality of a sloppy job out of a high school lunch room. Seasoning and bbq sauce was so low quality that the flavors I have come to expect in Fort Worth just isn't there. What happened? Is it that the bar for BBQ in ftw has come way up since decades ago and cousins hasnt come to change? You must have a base that is funding you, b/c imo this is not doing it. Do better. This just isn't exceptable now. No flavor, corporate BBQ is dead.
google avatar

Hyunchul B.

Yelp
Good atmosphere after the remodel. Friendly staff. Baked potato fully loaded with chopped brisket is always my go to. Wasn't a huge fan of their fried Okra but their mac and cheese is very good

Yelp
Cousin's has been around for a good while now. I've been the this location a handful of times in the past few years. Located in a fairy busy area off Bryant Irvin, this place has it's own parking lot and is spacious on the inside. when you walk inside, it is counter service like most BBQ places. You go through the line, grab a tray and tell the person behind the counter what you want. Place is clean on the inside though most times you'll find tables unbussed but don't worry there's quite a few other tables to choose from. The only thing I ever really order here is the loaded meat baked potato. Fully loaded with all your heart's desires. They are good sized potatoes and they don't skimp on the chives, butter or sour cream. Good portion of brisket goes on top and I like to grab jalapenos from the self serve station and toss those in too. The BBQ sauce helps when you get to the last bits of potato when you eat through all the non potato fillings. This is the only thing I've gotten from Cousin's in the last 12 years from various Cousin's locations and I'm almost afraid to stray to anything else.
google avatar

Jack D.

Yelp
really disappointed in the ribs. absolutely no taste, dry and tough. stay away.

Steve G.

Yelp
Y'all suck. The reason didn't give it zero stars was that it wasn't an option. I ordered the sliced brisket with 2 side option and a drink. This was at the Dallas airport location. The meal was 21 or 23 dollars and change. I get to the counter and there is a plate with 3 or 4 tiny ass pieces of meat with the sides. Clerk tells me 35.00 and change. I looked at him and told him to keep it. Left that shit on the counter looking stupid. Cousins is either hiding costs until the end transaction or they got someone stealing your money. Save your self some money until you get to a real restaurant.
google avatar

Naomi T.

Yelp
Follow up to my review one year ago. Now the coleslaw has a spicy bite to it. Haven't tried the Mac and cheese but wouldn't be surprised if it too has a spicy kick to it. One year ago I lost my favorites in broccoli rice casserole and the green beans as Cousin's changed the recipe for those two sides. Why does everything have to be spicy, Cousin's? If you're not into spicy, choose carefully from the sides menu. Go potato salad and cowboy beans. Sides left for me to choose from are Mac and cheese and fried okra. Not hopeful on the MandC. Sad. Used to really enjoy all their food.

Whitney P.

Yelp
We decided to go check out the newly re-vamped Cousins BBQ and it looks awesome! The inside and outside patio are gorgeous and the food was amazing! The best brisket nachos I've ever had!
google avatar

Shonte W.

Yelp
Upon ordering my food the young lady at the window said "We're out of salad" when I had just called moments before I arrived. I ordered the Smokehouse and my smokehouse was SMOKED and did not have all of the promised ingredients. I was probably the last customer in the drive thru my receipt says 8:37p. I immediately called and no one answered I called repeatedly before 9p In order to have my order corrected. Hence this poor review I have an entire salad that was not complete and the ingredients are missing and the beef is terrible. Very disappointed in Cousins. This was my last few dollars and it's been waisted on a salad that is not up to par with what the website states. If I could give a negative star I would.

Yelp
Good bbq , dry rub ribs, baked beans and Mac / cheese . Attractive interior in a convenient location , friendly and prompt service

Bri D.

Yelp
If quantity is more important than quality, this is the place for you. Went for lunch today and got the $25 AYCE special. Well, the ribs were dry and overcooked. Almost inedible. The brisket was incredibly fatty. Almost inedible. The jalapeno sausage had no flavor. Edible, but. The pulled port was not pulled, but big chucks. Almost, but not quite as dry as the ribs. Edible, but. Guess I should have tried the chicken but had no appetite by then. At least the potato salad and coleslaw were good. Oh and the service was good. But the food? Meh? Want AYCE? Go Chinese. At least they all are consistent.
