I travel around the country for work and for pleasure. This place is a place you don’t want to leave. Rooms are big and beds are comfy. Shower was a massage itself. Restaurant and bar are great. Great drinks and awesome friendly service. Prices are great too. Special mention to Miriam at the front desk. As amicable as she can be.

We have been traveling with to 14 year old Border Collies. Now this is truley a dog friendly hotel!!! This hotel made us totally rethink our plans to stay at name brand hotels during our travels. We arrived to a very friendly staff. We were assigned to one of several reserved “dog friendly” rooms. The room was spotless and we couldn’t tell it from a non-dog friendly room. We went to dinner at the bar. The bartender’s welcoming personality and prompt service are to be highly commended. He really made our stay and dining experience memorable. Add to that, we found the Whirlpool spa, just across from our room. What a welcome relief at the end of a long travel day! We’ll definitely be back!

I loved this hotel. It was so cute. A little older but it was clean and comfy! Hot tub and pool were nice. You get a discount on breakfast which I highly recommend trying. Very friendly staff as well. Great location close to Hood River (without the hood river prices!) and not too far from all the awesome hiking in the area. I almost removed a star for the parking lot however. I drive an F150 and I made the mistake of pulling in forward to a spot and having to do a 1000 point turn to get back out when the lot filled up.

Google
Great restaurant and friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable. The food for both dinner and breakfast was great. The staff at the front desk went and got me ice when the ice machine wasn't working. The only issue was the bathroom floor getting soaked when running the shower as the curtain was too flimsy to stop the very good pressure from the shower head. The tile was very slick.

I know they have some.newer rooms but we were definitely in the older section. It was a last minute budget reservation and if you just need a roof over your head for a night in a safe convenient location it's fine. The bed wasn't the worst but definitely needs replaced. Seemed like everything was clean but definitely dated and in need of renovation. I would probably not stay more than one night and only if your just looking for something adequate to get you by.

Nice enough, but didn't honor our request. Bed average, shower excellent. Did not clean room one day after request. Fine for the cost. No elevators. 3 unused handicap spaces all 4 days. No breakfast included. The basics were adequate. Clean enough.

Our stay at Cousins and our meals at Cousin's restaurant were just what was needed at the end of a long vacation. On the way home from a 5 week road trip our new car broke down about 45 minutes east of Portland. We were able to get it to the closest dealership which happened to be right up the road from Cousins. The people at the dealership said that a meal at Cousins Restaurant would be a good way to spend our time while they chucked over our car. The food was great and the atmosphere and friendly staff made it even better. |We then went to the hotel front desk to inquire about getting a room for a few days. We explained our situation, staying the night and possibly two more depending on when we would receive our car back from the Honda dealer. |Our room was not ready so they took our bags since our car would be at the dealer overnight. Once the room was ready they had staff help bring our bags to our room across the parking lot. They took our reservation for three nights but we only ended up staying two. |This turned out to be the best possible place for us to stay given our car issues and being so far from home, we still had over 2,000 miles to go before we were home. |Thanks again Cousins, you have good food and a comfortable bed for a few nights, your staff made it a great stay.

The owners and the staff of this restaurant should be so proud. This was probably the best breakfast I've ever had. Our waitress was so sweet and delightful. Our service exemplary and the food was off the charts! To the chef Bravo! Well done.

Yelp
Only clean rooms every other day. Hotel was recommended as convenient to a race at Hood River...it was too far away! There was a hotel right at start finish.

Lauren M.

Yelp
Very nice place. Spacious and able to accommodate large groups. They have a cute gift shop inside too. The food was tasty. Salads were fresh! Prices are competitive. I ordered the chicken craisin salad and it was so delicious! Fresh greens with chicken, tomatoes, olives, and Craisins. I highly recommend that salad. My friend ordered the chicken almond salad, but her meat was dry. There are live chickens in a coop outside and a place to take fun pics. We stopped here on our way to a wedding.

Yelp
I stayed at Cousins' Country Inn in The Dalles, Oregon for the first time on 9/13/23. My parents have stayed there numerous times over the years, and I had heard good things about it. I was very impressed with my stay. I called to make reservations while gassing up in Baker, Oregon. It was already very late and I knew I wouldn't be arriving until close to 1 AM. I lucked out and got the last remaining room. I spoke to Miriam, who couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. I booked the room for $108, which included all taxes. When I arrived, I was checked in by Anita, who was also very helpful! I was pleased to learn that my room rate included 20% off of breakfast in the Cousins' Restaurant the next morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of it as I already had other plans, but I will next time. Given that I arrived at 1 AM, Anita kindly offered me a check out of 11 AM, which I greatly appreciated. I was impressed with the size of my room, and how well laid out it was. The room was exceptionally large, and the furniture was nicely spread out, so there is no risk of bumping into things if you get up late at night to use the bathroom. The room was exceptionally clean. My bed was very comfortable. I liked that there was a mini fridge and a microwave, both of which I made use of. This is an older building, which means it is very well constructed. Even though this location is relatively close to a busy road, the combination of the solid construction and the sound of air conditioner, which was a bit noisy but acted as white noise, allowed me to get a solid night's sleep without using my earplugs. The next morning, my shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Good water pressure is some thing that I often find lacking even in brand new properties, so this is especially note worthy. The parking lot is well lit, and there are monitored cameras to ensure the safety of their guests. I appreciate that Cousins' Country Inn is so security conscious, which is something that is very important to me as a solo female traveler, who often arrives late at night. When visiting The Dalles in the past, I have stayed at Celilo Inn and The Dalles Inn, both of which I give high marks to. But given my experience on 9/13/23, Cousins' Country Inn is my favorite of the three, and where I intend to stay in the future. Highly Recommended!!!

Yelp
Staff very friendly it was clean spacious and a restaurant attached a plus food was very good

Yelp
Unfortunately after a long drive, we found this hotel. Reserved in advance, due to decent reviews. Couple things that must be handled. Bed bugs! We checked in, then checked right back out. Hoping that this is looked at in all rooms for the health of the folks staying here. Outdated hotel. Updating the rooms and removing the old smells throughout the place should be a priority for the owners. Thinking of the customers and the experience you are giving is a big miss right now. Loitering in the parking lots. Pulled up to see a couple making out on cars. And others walking through the lot. Where I understand that things like this can't be completely resolved, maybe having some kind of respect for others cars and people staying here. Management should look into some type of security or having the front desk monitor what's going on in the lot itself. I hope that this helps anyone planning to stay at this hotel thinking it will be decent. Inspect your beds completely. Wouldn't leave anything valuable in your cars. Don't want to bash the place because everything can obviously be fixed. But, in the meantime, I would suggest for the health and safety of your stay; that you would stay at another hotel until it's fixed.

Faith H.

Yelp
We stayed and got a little gift basket for our puppies! The beds are a little uncomfortable but the hotel is cheap, the staff is very friendly,. The restaurant is great food and friendly staff. I got home and realized I left my AirPods and remembered hearing them fall behind the headboard. I called and they located them and shipped them to me. I was very thankful as I do not know the next time I will be down that way. The hotel is older, but clean and simple.

Nidhi T.

Yelp
Basic lodge while we had to stop in the Columbia gorge. You would expect a lodge like this to have free breakfast but they don't. The rooms are ok though there was always a faint smell while we were there.

Kelley N.

Yelp
We stop in here every time we take a road trip. It's the perfect distance from Portland to start our trip, or end it! The food is always fresh, tasty and served in ginormous portions. I've never had a misstep in my order nor has the waitstaff ever been less than super efficient, really friendly and very attentive. They have these ever so tasty biscuits and I won't try to tell you they aren't huge. I'm addicted to their pot roast, served with mashed potatoes, carrots, onions and gravy. Although I've had many breakfasts too. A side of bacon is like 4 pieces, they make scrambled eggs fluffy like I like them The only thing I've ever had to complain about is the fact that they serve coke and not pepsi. Seriously....and that really isn't even an issue because their tea is spectacular too!

Alicia D.

Yelp
What an awesome place. The hotel room was so clean! I am a vacation home cleaner and I know what clean is and this place shines!! The onsite restaurant is unbelievably good country cooking, you get giant portions and it's all fresh. We will be back anytime we drive through here!

David S.

Yelp
Service was good and competent Hot meatloaf sandwich was very tasty Mashed potatoes were good and had no lumps Salad was very good and was actually cold

Angie D.

Yelp
Good value, priced fairly. They are pet friendly too. Beds are pretty comfortable. Shower/ bathroom outdated but plenty of hot water with good water pressure. Bath towels are large. Front desk was friendly. You get discount card for the restaurant there. I believe they serve breakfast all day. Next time we're in town we'll be staying here again.

Grant S.

Yelp
My parents have always stayed there and I stay there on occassion. When my mom was terminal earleir this year and my dad and I needed to visit her dialy in her care home, Cousins manangment gave is a very reasonable weekly rate. Thanks!

Christine H.

Yelp
We had a great breakfast, ample amount of food that arrived quickly. Waitress was pleasant and timely.

Dennis L.

Yelp
Nice three start hotel. Checkin was quick. person at the front counter was very polite and timely. Room was spacious. AC worked like a champ. Shower had lots of pressure and was nice and hot. Bed was comfortable. Probably one of the best sleeps I had in a bit. TV remote worked well. Nice was quiet and I felt safe.

Andy H.

Yelp
Not a 3 star hotel, more like 2 star. Some of the buildings have charm, but most of the rooms are motel 6

Brianna R.

Yelp
Hometown feel. Family recipes. Friendly service. Best clam chowder on the west coast, bar none...and yes I've been to San Francisco, Monterrey and Seattle. Turkey dinner was amazing. Apple pie was the happily ever after I didn't know I needed. Shout out to hometown boy Joel...awesome service :) P.S. @guyfieri you need to pay these guys a visit cuz they're doing something right.

Alice M.

Yelp
Great place for this area. Love the onsite restaurant serving country cooking. Rooms: the deluxe rooms are Roomy, clean, with fireplace. Quiet. Great location. Gas station/connivence store next door. Non pretentious. Pet friendly. Our go-to. Bonus: nice pet welcome kit with goodies to keep!

Greg M.

Yelp
Prices for a room are cheap and I guess you get what you pay for.... We arrived just before the 4pm check in, the front desk person called housekeeping to find out if our room was ready, housekeeping responded and said she needed to check. We sat for a bit while other guests were checking in then we were told the room was ready, we drove to a parking space that was closer to our room, unloaded our bags opened the door and housekeeping was still cleaning the room. We waited outside until she was done. Upon entering room 103 the first thing I noticed was the stains on the dirty carpet and the old hotel musty smell. The rest of the room looked okay, it really needed a good dusting though. We got a "non smoking room" but the smell of cigarettes was outside because the smokers are allowed to smoke right outside of the non smoking rooms, there were cigarette ashtrays along the walkway directly in front of the non smoking rooms. I probably won't return to this hotel but I would return to the restaurant, we had a delicious breakfast which filled us up the rest of the day, customer service was outstanding at the restaurant, can't say the same for the hotel. Spend a few more bucks and get a better room.

John M.

Yelp
The food is very delicious. The coffee is very good too; they give you a medium size carafe and then more if you run out. The prices are what you'd expect...about $15 per meal. I think the cheapest thing is 2 pancakes for $7.50. The waitresses are incredibly friendly. The restaurant is part of Cousins Hotel. There's also a bar attached to the restaurant. I haven't been in there. My only minor complaint is that the parking lot is a little small. The owners know how to run a business and are actually dedicated to the the craft that pays their bills. They didn't go into business for themselves because they weren't capable of working for other people. At least that's my take.

Tyler F.

Yelp
Very clean and super friendly. Nice rooms. Great accommodations. Good value. Would stay again for sure.

Whitney H.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We got two rooms last minute in the middle of a crazy heat wave! The hotel staff are so friendly and awesome. For it being 105 outside our rooms were nice and cold! We slept like babies. They have a restaurant that was delish, with outdoor dinning so we were able to eat outside without leaving our small dog locked in the room. The rooms were clean and comfy and they had a microwave! We just loved it! Excellent customer service!

Douglas B.

Yelp
I was a little worried when we first pulled up to the hotel and saw a few seedy people hanging around the back building that we were staying in. The exterior really does seem quite a bit rundown, but the interiors were surprisingly clean. Wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again, but also wouldn't tuck tail and run like so many of the other options would make me.

James C.

Yelp
AMAZING ! This is quite possibly THE BEST breakfast that I have EVER HAD! I was driving along on my way to the Oregon coast with my dog , and needed a casual out door dining place to stop. I saw this on Yelp , called ahead , and was politely told they had plenty of outdoor seating and that I was welcome with my pup. All I had was a very simple standard American favorite Scrambled eggs, bacon , hash browns and toast .... I don't know what the heck made it SO good , but it was outstanding! Had a private little picnic to myself & and Parker - the K-9

Bob K.

Yelp
From the outside it looks a bit like a run down and then re-done best western. But this was a really nice stay for us. first... the staff is really friendly. There is a statue of a sheep and a horse that kids can sit on, and a photo op face placard. Just a fun touch. The rooms are very large with a frige, keurig coffee maker and microwave. Bed was really comfy. And best of all this place had the best shower I have ever had in a hotel and I have been all over the place in the US and Europe. Lots of pressure with all the hot water you want. There was another sign that this is a good place. It was packed with Truckers. They check in for dinner and then they are all gone by 7am. Its a great place to stay to see The Dalles

Donnie B.

Yelp
This place is definitely brutal if it's hot outside, go someplace else, the AC units in the rooms barely work at best and it's uncomfortably hot. This place might be comfortable is the temperature is 80 degrees or under outside. Also the pool closes way to early.

Phil R.

Yelp
Clean and friendly. Nice, comfortable bed. The only downside was the upstairs neighbors who seemed to be having a throw-the-table-from-the-bed-onto-the-floor competition at 1am but that wasn't the motels fault and they did call them and tell them to shut their noise, which they did.

Carl T.

Yelp
Always a safe bet for a clean pleasant stay. It's also really convenient having their on-site restaurant that serves a tasty bloody mary and decent food

Jenifer E.

Yelp
Room was very clean and attractive. Lots of parking. Loved the king bed, slept wonderfully. Left off one star: walls are thin and neighbors were easily heard, the coffee pot was not user friendly and you might consider changing the coffee you purchase for the rooms. The huge shower is super but the tile/grout needs to be fixed/replaced in places. Would definitely return. Thank you!

Renee G.

Yelp
My mom suggested in our slow stroll of a drive through the gorge to have an eat at Cousins Country Restaurant and Saloon. I loved the irony of it, we had just driven from our cousins place. The country-theme not only lies on the exterior but also the interior of Cousins. We were seated at a booth near a John Deere tractor. Above us was wooden boxes maybe that had been used for produce. We ate the fish and chips and chicken sandwich. My mom switched out her fries for a veggie option and removed the bread from her sandwich both of which she delighted in in her attempt to do keto dieting while traveling. The servers and hosts were kind, attentive with us during our stay. The food consumed to satisfy and the setting great for conversation.

Heather B.

Yelp
The beds were comfy and it was nice having a restaurant attached for convenience. The staff and servers were friendly and the country atmosphere was quaint.

Megan S.

Yelp
What a nice, clean and friendly place to stay! We needed a dog friendly place to stay and this place went above & beyond! They delivered a "pet box" to our room with lots of goodies for our dog. Clean room, comfy bed and the restaurant was yummy! We'd stay here again for sure!

Cj W.

Yelp
Incredible food. Had the chicken burger with French fries. I love thick fries with a crispy outside, got that. The bbq Mayo and dressing were the perfect dipping sauces. The host was patient with me and showed me the bar and dinning room and let me chose my seat. My server Steven was extraordinarily accommodating and on top of it! Wish i had time for a cinnamon roll, gotta hit the road!

Heather B.

Yelp
We upgraded to the bigger room . Beautiful , clean , cozy bed , fireplace ! Friendly staff ! We will be back

Kenny V.

Yelp
Given it was Labor Weekend, the price point for this place was alright. Rooms are basic yet seem to have been updated in the last few years. However, you can hear your upstairs neighbors waking about which was really annoying at night. I will say the updated shower was nice and very roomy. If you get a decent nightly rate, Cousins Inn isn't too bad a spot.

Steve R.

Yelp
Nice motel in the Dalles. Towards the west end of town, but still a reasonable walk to the center of town. Bed comfortable, shower is good size. Room had fridge, microwave, and coffee. Internet, although free, was slow and unstable.9

L A H.

Yelp
Nice place for my family of 4. Staff were really helpful, room was clean & comfortable. Enjoyed the pool & spa. Had 20% coupon for breakfast at their restaurant but didn't know you could use it for dinner time......we all got breakfast for dinner but wasn't told we could use coupon for that, a bit disappointing but overall great experience.

T C.

Yelp
The food is ok . But if you order wine they don't have any real quality wine. They only have wine from Copa. Which is some off brand that comes in a plastic bottle.

Melanie S.

Yelp
The best place to stay in The Dalles! The girl at the front desk was really friendly, our room was really clean and comfy, fireplace and walk in shower were amazing, and I loved the bath products they smelled lovely and were higher quality which is something I appreciate for sure! Cool books in the room as well. It was too late when we arrived to try the restaurant but the bar was serving appetizers I got the coconut prawns and my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken strips both were delicious! Pretty sure we will be staying here every time we are in the area.

Darcie J.

Yelp
This was a great little boutique hotel. Food was excellent and staff at hotel and restaurant were awesome. Great place for kids and reminded me of my own family road trip hotels. Made a reservation for swimming for just my family and 1 other small family. It was fun and pool was refreshing. Great way to break up the drive headed from Cannon Beach to Spokane. Clean and super comfortable beds. I would stay here again.

Candice A.

Yelp
We found this place on Priceline and it was the only one with vacancy that wasn't outrageously priced. The front staff was really nice and check in was quick and easy. It does have an older look on the outside but it's really clean and the rooms are quite large and updated. The walk in tile shower and amazing water pressure was probably my favorite part. It has a good restaurant attached and is right next to a convenient store if you need anything. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone who's traveling this way.

Chris B.

Yelp
Nice place, rooms were ok. The staff was friendly. But BRING YOUR EAR PLUGS. There was lots of noise all night long, the AC unit was SO LOUD. Breakfast was a bit slow moving but decent food.

Jerry A.

Yelp
This is a basic, clean hotel. Beds are adequate. Shower heads are low pressure. Wall AC is noisy and hard to adjust. One nice feature was a lights with on the wall where you could turn off the outlet to the AC rather than fumble with controls. My only complaint... I left my iPhone 6 wall charger plugged in and realized once home I had forgot it. Called the front desk to report and they said it was not reported by housekeeping. It was late in the day so I was told they would contact the head housekeeper who would call me back if they found it and send it to me. Got a call after one day. It was found and they are sending it through the mail.

T R.

Yelp
Toilet is so low you think you're gonna hit the floor and won't quit running till you go back and jiggle the handle. Carpet is stained and filthy covered in big dark spots. Shoes kept on till getting in bed. Room had woefully inadequate lighting so was dark and dreary. Sink/vanity lights were useless. Two coffee cups in a four person room. Tub was stained in bottom and had a permanent grey ring. We skipped showering. The on-site restaurant? Menu said "our meatloaf is served with pride" but tasted like a (bad) tv dinner. One in party wasn't served their meal until the rest were almost finished eating. We tried to wait but had to go ahead to avoid cold food. Dessert comped (one only) but wasn't good either. Our recommendation? Don't stay here. Don't eat here.

Alisha E.

Yelp
This place was very cute and the front desk staff were friendly and nice. We got a room that we was pet friendly for our dog, and while I understand that is the purpose of this room the carpet was really dirty and stained like they didn't even try to get any pet stains out of the carpet. For the most part the room was nice except for the bathroom which could use some updating. The parking is extremely limited and tight. The one major experience that determined the two star review was the bartender. We went in there a couple of times but the last time we were getting dinner to go. (Dinner was very average and slightly expensive for what you get) We got our food and when we went to pay she handed my husband the hand held machine to put in the tip and the debit card pin, as he was doing it he hit accept and handed it back to her and the hand held battery died. She said it was fine so we left and walked down the hall to the little store they had. As we were leaving the store the bartender caught us in the hallway and said your card didn't go through, we were confused since we just used the card in the store and it worked. So my husband went in there to re pay and as he was he checked our bank account and the charge had gone through and he showed her on his phone that it had been charged already. Then she proceeds to say to my husband that she heard us talking about her in the hallway and didn't appreciate it, that she had served us drinks more than once and was nice to us. We were completely dumbfounded by this because we had not talked about her once and had no clue what she was talking about. She accused us of something that didn't happen and she clearly didn't even know who was talking, because it was not us. I didn't have a bad thought about her until she falsely accused me. Not okay! If you don't know who is doing something don't go around accusing people you assume it was. Again, not a horrible hotel but because of the bad experiences I will not be a returning customer.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
We stopped in The Dalles on our way to and from Lincoln City for a vacation. Just happed in to one of the best surprises ever when traveling. Not only are their hotel rates unbelievable, their restaurant is to die for ! Most of all, the employees here could literally teach classes in customer service-all of them....I am still in shock ! Kudos to this place !

Donna E.

Yelp
Nice clean room with comfortable king bed. Got the room with a kitchenette which is really great. Hot shower with lots of pressure. Has a great working air conditioner. Its been quiet and we'd stay here again.

Shela B.

Yelp
Sorry to say we were not real happy with our short stay. I queen bed was old and you rolled toward the middle. I did tell them when we left and they took $10 off our bill. Didn't make up for a bad nights sleep but I did appreciate the gesture.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Cousins has such a great kitchen and bar staff. Jenny B is an especially helpful part of the staff that I've dealt with a couple times. I've always loved their service and food.

Donna B.

Yelp
Second time that I've stayed here--obviously a fan. Really comfy beds, lovely showers, and always clean. Prices are quite reasonable and service is always excellent. Rooms have been updated. Very handicap friendly for my mom. And, booking online is easy peasy. Not sure what else to say? Definitely my pick if needing a place to crash. Only critique? Wifi is a bit spotty.
