I stayed at Cousins' Country Inn in The Dalles, Oregon for the first time on 9/13/23. My parents have stayed there numerous times over the years, and I had heard good things about it. I was very impressed with my stay.
I called to make reservations while gassing up in Baker, Oregon. It was already very late and I knew I wouldn't be arriving until close to 1 AM. I lucked out and got the last remaining room. I spoke to Miriam, who couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. I booked the room for $108, which included all taxes.
When I arrived, I was checked in by Anita, who was also very helpful! I was pleased to learn that my room rate included 20% off of breakfast in the Cousins' Restaurant the next morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of it as I already had other plans, but I will next time. Given that I arrived at 1 AM, Anita kindly offered me a check out of 11 AM, which I greatly appreciated.
I was impressed with the size of my room, and how well laid out it was. The room was exceptionally large, and the furniture was nicely spread out, so there is no risk of bumping into things if you get up late at night to use the bathroom. The room was exceptionally clean. My bed was very comfortable. I liked that there was a mini fridge and a microwave, both of which I made use of.
This is an older building, which means it is very well constructed. Even though this location is relatively close to a busy road, the combination of the solid construction and the sound of air conditioner, which was a bit noisy but acted as white noise, allowed me to get a solid night's sleep without using my earplugs.
The next morning, my shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. Good water pressure is some thing that I often find lacking even in brand new properties, so this is especially note worthy.
The parking lot is well lit, and there are monitored cameras to ensure the safety of their guests. I appreciate that Cousins' Country Inn is so security conscious, which is something that is very important to me as a solo female traveler, who often arrives late at night.
When visiting The Dalles in the past, I have stayed at Celilo Inn and The Dalles Inn, both of which I give high marks to. But given my experience on 9/13/23, Cousins' Country Inn is my favorite of the three, and where I intend to stay in the future.
Highly Recommended!!!
