I don’t usually leave hotel reviews, but I wish I had read them more carefully before booking Cove Cannon Street in London. Hopefully this helps others avoid the same mistakes.
This is a no-frills apartment hotel—truly no frills. No reachable front desk, weekly cleaning only, one small elevator, and rooms that are much smaller and darker than they appear online. It’s not big enough for a family, and our first room had no working A/C, faced an air shaft, and was so cramped it felt unlivable for a 10-day stay. To their credit, they moved us to a better room with light and functioning A/C.
Still, the issues continued: a leaking kitchen faucet ruined some books and wasn’t fixed for two days; the bathroom had no exhaust fan, the shower had poor pressure, leaked onto the floor, and kept dripping for about an hour after use. The floor stayed wet, and the bathmats never dried. We also regularly saw bugs in the room.
Despite advance communication about our group, we were charged an extra £40/night for a sofa bed—turning what looked like a budget-friendly option into a poor-value stay. Staff were friendly but not particularly helpful or responsive.
The advertising makes the rooms look bright, spacious, and contemporary—but they are none of these things (see the condition of the carpet and the flooring in the attached photos). We learned our lesson the hard way and will not be staying at any Cove hotels again.
