I wouldn't recommend going here with a child. I've never been myself before, but decided to pop over with my 4 year old daughter for a quick mani/pedi before a photo session the next day. I have taken my daughter elsewhere for a special mani/pedi treat in the past, and while it's not an easy age to do a 'stay still' activity, she knows the drill. The ladies in Cove Nails were friendly, but I'm pretty disappointed with the experience overall. My daughter was sat in one of the pedicure chairs, and I didn't mind that they didn't do the whole pedicure foot bath thing because it's a bit of a distance between the seat of the chair and the foot tub, so I don't know that she would have reached it well. What I really didn't like was that the woman doing her nails didn't clip or file at all. I get being a little nervous about clipping a little girl's nails, but not even a quick file? Had I realized that would be the case, I would have done it before we left the house. Before I knew it, they were done with the one coat on the toes and on to the fingers. While doing her fingers, the woman had accidentally rubbed her arm against my daughter's big toe, rubbing off the polish, and she did a semi "fix" of painting over it again but that didn't really fix it at all. Then before I could even blink, I realized that the woman wasn't filing her fingernails either and went straight to painting them. Half the reason I wanted to bring her was so they would at least file them so her nails weren't sharp and she wouldn't scratch herself. I feel like filing nails is pretty basic, no matter who it is. No lotion- nothing. I've given my daughter more of a spa experience than this at home. I tried to communicate with the nail technician about using a quick dry coat and filing, but she either didn't hear me or disregarded my request. We were in there no more than 10 minutes start to finish. $21 plus tip and we left with a smudged toe nail and sharp claws. I'm going to have to file them myself, which will probably just remove the polish, making this whole trip pointless. It would have been easier to just do this myself, but I thought this would be nicer. This was a big disappointment, so from now on, I will continue to go elsewhere, never mind the convenience factor. I gave two stars because they were friendly in the salon, but if not for that, I'd say one star- tops.
