Such a cute, COZY getaway spot, even in the winter! We stayed in one of the lodge double queen rooms and it was clean with a great view of the lake & COMFY beds. Love the lounge area on the first floor with a wood burning fireplace, puzzles, games, watercolors/crayons/colored pencils, DVDs for your room, free sugar cookies, smores supplies and coffee & tea (all day), nice little gift shop, bar/restaurant... endless things to keep you busy. They even have art to purchase throughout the walls. James at the front desk was the best!! He was so friendly & accommodating!

We absolutely loved Cove Point Lodge. All rooms faced Lake Superior, as did the breakfast/dinner area. The fireOther reviews complained about the coffee machine - it's Folgers coffee and tasted just fine. It's available at all hours - decaf and regular - plus anything you want to add to it. There is also hot water for tea, cider and hot chocolate. Every room also has a Keurig. The pool and hot tub looked lovely. Staff were friendly and the rooms were quiet. Our king bed was a little wore, but slept fine otherwise. Our room also had a DVD player, and there are lots of movies to choose from in the lobby if you want to watch one. And we loved the Scandinavian breakfast! I realize picked cucumbers, herring and beets aren't for everyone, but they are healthy. There was also yogurt, granola and lingonberries, plus cold cereal and bagels. We looked forward to it every day. Because the dinner area is small, reservations are necessary - but the food is worth it. We will definitely be back!

Pros: The biggest highlight of cove point is really the exterior resort, one of the prettiest on the north shore from the cove, fish house, proposal point, exterior architecture design. The staff we encountered were friendly and polite. Prices were reasonable compared to other big resorts. The cottages were right on the lake and you could fall asleep to waves. Unit was clean. I can't comment much on service as we only checked in but in the few passing the staff were polite and welcoming. Cons: Once you arrive the lodge rooms are dated and small. Pool and hot tub are what you would expect from a motel. We've stayed inside the lodge before and recently rented a South fjord cottage. Both did not meet expectations in comparison to all the other big resorts on the north shore and our experiences in those lake homes/ cottages/ resort rooms. The pictures on the web for the south fjords were falsely advertise, what we had looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The decor and furniture in our south fjord unit was mistched, toaster didn't work, all Teflon coated pots and pans, cheap kitchen cooking utensils, carpets need replacement, doors on showers didn't slide with ease, layout of unit was choppy/ didn't flow well, some end table lamp didn't work, odd lightning which created at times errie ambience, kitchen lacked counter space, some of the most depressing bedroom or lack of decor I've seen on the northshore, dirty particles out of hot tub jets, parking was not behind the cottage - so you had to unload/ load then park. Never been to a hotel/resort where guests need to take their trash to the dumpsters. Really wanted to love Cove point, but unfortunately this will be the last time we stay here. I'm sure if you can see pass some of the frustrations we experienced, perhaps you may enjoy your stay. We come to the Northshore year round and love Lake Superior, this was the first time I was ready to go home. Hopefully there will be renovations/ updates in the near future.

Google
What a great three day getaway with my wife. We actually stayed at one of their cottages. Cottage #604 where we stayed is in the center and 603/605 on either side. Right on Lake Superior. Nice quiet neighbors during our stay. The morning sunrises were beautiful!

Google
We were down for an ATV run. We had made it clear that that was the purpose of our visit and were disappointed. We were unable to park or bring our machines anywhere near the hotel. We spent two nights at a very expensive cost in my opinion for what we received. I totally expected my room to be cleaned and it was not. Yes I read their form but still disagree with that practice. We ate in the dining room. The food was OK. Nothing spectacular but OK. And the breakfast was acceptable. we were kind of led to understand that we could access what we were there to do directly from there, however that was not allowable. the location is a beautiful area, beautiful views however we were not spending a lot of time at the hotel and therefore don’t consider that relevant. Upon our arrival, we did find the gentleman at the desk a little bit abrasive. But the rest of the staff was amazing. The maintenance guys were very helpful very pleasant. Unfortunately, for the amount of money, it cost us to stay for those two nights. I highly doubt I would be going back.

Google
My fiancée and I recently spent two nights at Cove Point Lodge. There is no better lodging on the North Shore, as it is the closest thing there is to an all-inclusive resort. The location is amazing, as you will be minutes away from local hiking destinations and photo ops, including Split Rock and Palisade Head and other trails! The rooms are well-appointed and able to accommodate a variety of travelers. All rooms have a lake view! Our mattress and pillows were a little softer than we liked, but this is our only nitpick. The breakfast buffet is straightforward, but filling. Dinnertime is where the restaurant sings, as they have rotating nightly specials and the cooking alone is worth a three hour drive. There is a nearby bar/pizza kitchen that is also owned and operated by Cove Point Lodge if you're looking for lighter fare. We will be staying here again!

Google
The room was dirty with dog hair all over the bed, but clean enough since our entire reason for booking this lodge was the hot tub. This morning, February 24, 2025, I specifically confirmed with the manager that it was operational, and he assured me it was. This was a blatant lie, as it's currently closed. When I politely inquired about a possible rate adjustment given this bait-and-switch – the hot tub being the sole reason for our stay – the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive. He became resistant, and then, in an astonishing display of unprofessionalism, actually hung up on me. He even had the audacity to threaten to revoke our late check-out simply because I dared to question the lack of advertised amenities. This appalling behavior is completely unacceptable. This manager clearly needs serious training in basic customer service and common courtesy.

Google
This was our second time staying at Cove Point, our first time we stayed in the lodge and had a great experience, this time we stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage and also had a great experience! All the staff are super welcoming, rooms are clean, enough supplies in the cottage. Food is AMAZING!! Whenever we plan a trip to the north shore we will always plan to stay here.. great place and it’s a great driving distance or walking distance to many great place to see!

Yelp
We spent Thanksgiving here as a family and could not have been more impressed! We even brought our pup! There was a wall dedicated to crayons, colored pencils and coloring pages for kids as well as endless cookies and s'more ingredients. We forgot there was an indoor pool and hot tub so we bought suits while visiting Grand Marais for the day. Fun walking trails out to the lake as well. Santa even made a surprise appearance! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Stayed here for three nights, was hoping for an overlook room and got the parking lot corner room which is my only gripe. Room was very nice, dinner inside was really good we both just got the steak and cocktails. Went back and they let us take a bottle and glasses to our room along with dessert. Location is great we only came here to look at the shoreline and state parks which were all within 10 minutes on the same road. Front desk was cool they allowed me to print off my fishing license on their printer. I wish we stayed here longer, will come again.

David H.

Yelp
Stayed in windsong 613. Sleeps 7 only 2 deck chairs, bring your own. Tear in screen on deck door, couldn't sleep due to swarming mosquitoes. Have to heat water on stove to wash dishes. Folding door on bedroom kept popping open. Could not open blinds in bedroom. Floors not clean, dust on tv cabinets. Dishwasher not secured to cabinet. Is anyone checking these ?

Yelp
This place is very relaxing. The rooms have a magnificent view. We were very comfortable there. And Katie the manager was very customer oriented and professional when working to give us a room the last minute. The restaurant that's attached to the lodge is a plus along with the bar. We hope to be back soon!!

April J.

Yelp
Beautiful location! Excellent food and service. Great friendly customer service. Variety of different entree in the restaurant.

Gary S.

Yelp
Not for snowmobile people or trailers. Front desk texting and not doing job. Acted pissed to check me in. Been staying here since 1995 when it opened. Will not be back. Place is beat up and worn down. 1/20/2024

Yelp
For the benefit of future guests, I recommend that you NOT order the Stuffed Walleye from the dining room entree menu. It seemed like an old frozen dinner that was reheated in a microwave. It was flavorless except for the cranberry wild rice which tasted like cardboard. So disappointing!! Otherwise, our private cabin and surrounding nature environment was lovely.

John B.

Yelp
If you look for something wrong with Cove Point Lodge you probably won't find it. The rooms are nice, the staff is very friendly and helpful, I have recommended Cover to family and friends. We ate at the restaurant and it was good. It's not over the top but I would eat there again. I hope to visit again but it is difficult to get reservations, which means others also enjoy this lodge!

Yelp
Clearly the best place to stay along the Norwegian Riviera, aka The North Shore. We have been going there every November for the past 5 years. We feel like it's our home away from home.

Yelp
We didn't stay here so this review is only about their restaurant. The dining room is cozy and nice with a gorgeous view of the lake. The smoked salmon app was delicious. However, their entrees disappointed us--not worth the high price. Too salty and tasted like it had been frozen.

Yelp
Gorgeous setting for certain. My husband surprised me with a weekend stay here for my birthday and it ended up being a half an evening stay due to the fire. We were in a fabulous room right beside the large focal fireplace and I'm thankful we all got out okay. I was a little irritated that with the wine reception they took a bit long to get more wine out for those of us that watched people pour over generous portions in their glass and leave nothing behind for the more courteous patrons. The owner was on site the evening of my stay and I already could tell she was "somebody" which I feel if you are going to hang out you could do double duty and introduce yourself and greet the guest. I was a tad irritated because after the fire we did not get an offer to stay in one of the cottages and other people did so we went back on the road and exhausted stayed at a crappy place on our own dime. I really thought somebody would reach out to the folks from this evening and send some type of promotional certificate to visit them again and make a new memory. The restaurant and food service was exceptional.

Yelp
This place was such a treat to stay at! I felt like I had been transported to another country. It was a very special spot and I could tell the staff all loved working here. My boyfriend and I had a room facing the water (which all rooms do) but ours was the wave room. We had a jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room which was amazing. The luxurious bath tub mixed with the sounds of the waves plus a fireplace...I was in heaven! We even had access to an indoor pool, hot tub and spa, with adult only hours! I mean what's better than that? My only qualm was the breakfast was only okay and they seemed to have really limited hours for the restaurant. I think regardless of the food situation, the hotel is a true gem and if you need a getaway this a great option.

Yelp
Nice weekend get away, charming, but very pricey during the peak season. Reminded me of The Great Northern in Twin Peaks if anyone watched that. I took my husband here for something different to do back when we were just dating. Let's just say you can the boy out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the boy. I understand why people like it up north. It's pretty, scenic and quiet. Just too quiet for us at that rate. Don't get me wrong, It's a very nice hotel all of the rooms face the lake. They have a charming little scandinavian breakfast in the morning. Herring, hard boiled eggs, cheese, tomatoes etc.Rooms are rustic and really going for the cabin-y feel but in a modern way. They have complimentary canoes and a nice size pool.
google avatar

Pat A.

Yelp
Our first time here won't be our last! The room was perfect with a good bed, excellent shower and beautiful view of Lake Superior. They have done an outstanding job of making accommodations for the coronavirus. Every day a bag is delivered outside your door with fresh supplies. You fill out a card with your breakfast choice (continental, scandinavian, or child-friendly) and the time you want to pick it up. The grounds are beautiful and there's always a campfire at night. Great location and the lodge restaurant is excellent.
google avatar

Lea S.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it! We stayed in a queen suite in the main lodge for our 'mini-moon' after our wedding and couldn't be happier with our experience. Staff were friendly, dinner was delicious, and our room was clean and comfortable. The best part however, is that it's right on the water and the Cove is stunningly picturesque. We'll definitely come back for future MN north shore visits and anniversaries. Only thing is Scandinavian breakfast isn't everyone's favorite, but they at least had eggs every morning so that was good lol. Price was reasonable, especially compared to other resorts in the area.

Yelp
I guess my expectations were too high, but when I pay more per night than I would for a hotel in NYC, I would like air conditioning when it's hot, a bedside table on each side of the bed, hot eggs and cold juice at breakfast. A portable air conditioner was brought to our room after our first night. The young man who brought it in was very nice, said that the air conditioning unit in our room was problematic that it needed to be serviced. (My husband noted that this type of unit would typically be sufficient to cool a small office.) The employee activated the portable unit without arranging to get the hot air vented,so when we returned to the room after being out most of the day, it was even hotter than before. My husband is well versed in energy efficiency, so it was just a matter of moving the unit over to the window. The 2nd night was a little more comfortable. The desk people were nice, the bar staff seemed unhappy. We downed the 2 complimentary water bottles during the hot night. They were not replaced. Having a jacuzzi is nice, but I'd much rather have climate control and a lamp. The bed was comfortable and the TV was functional, with a lot of channels. I know that it must be really hard to successfully run such a business, and I'm sympathetic to that, but we will not be spending our money there in the future. Overall, our experience at Cove Point Lodge was disappointing.

Becky T.

Yelp
Excellent location. Service and food excellent. They have COVID figured out. Breakfasts are unique, we had the continental and Scandinavian each morning, they pack the to go. Room was comfortable and can can the windows to hear the waves and start the fireplace. Pool is small and not deep but would be ok for kids. Nice hot tub and sauna. With all this would give a 5, but it's a little tired and could used new carpet. Overall would return, nice folks there.

Yelp
The bartender Scott was great and so much fun. We had an appetizer and dinner that was amazing! What a great place to get away! Dave & Kerry ( Duluth)
google avatar

John J.

Yelp
My wife's favorite place to stay on the North Shore, spectacular view of Lake superior and you can listen to the waves on the shore all night long. Highly recommend.
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
Come for the rooms and hotel staff but stay away from the dining room. The fruit flies were more attentive than the servers. My salad had half the ingredients promised and the balsamic vinaigrette was straight balsamic. Rooms are nicely remodeled and the views are spectacular. Very nice breakfast leaning toward Scandinavian in style.

Yelp
My husband and I only had a few days for our honeymoon (we were moving to Paris 6 days after our wedding!) so we headed up the shore. We stayed in the main lodge. The room decoration was kind of weird. Parts of it were so well done (the fireplace, the furniture), but then some of it was just so dumpy, like something you would expect from a roadside motel (the bathroom, the TV). Kind of the same story with the rest of the lodge. The restaurant area was very nice, but the pool area looked really cheap and crappy. The restaurant was nooooot worth the money. Really boring food. Beautiful surroundings; we went on a walk around the property. It's in a good location to explore the North Shore. We drove up to Grand Marais, we saw the Split Rock Lighthouse, and we just stopped to go down one of those trails leading away from the highway on a river. Just a beautiful area. You can't go wrong. The breakfast was okay. I actually like pickled herring (we try to be real Minnesotans and eat it on holidays). It was just a standard hotel breakfast. Nothing too special. I wouldn't stay here again. I'm sure there's got to be something nicer. But it's not a bad place.
google avatar

Yelp
Stayed here twice now. First time we stayed, we had a regular room and it was a great deal. Only complaint was the odd for us Scandinavian breakfast but that was fine. This time we had a townhouse type cabin (#613) and paid $800 for two days. So disappointed. At first glance it was nice, but many issues found. The tub in master suite- the drain didnt work, the hot handle spun all the way around and the cold would not shut off. Kitchen sink had a steady leak under it. This could be a very nice place if anyone took care of it. Last complaint is that even though paying more, you get no breakfast, it is very far away with no trail or access so you get feeling that you are not welcome.

T J.

Yelp
This was one of the nicer places we stayed in our trip. Lodge was very neat and the grounds were pleasant to walk, especially the short hike to the rocky outcropping in the lake. The AC unit in our room was good to have on an unusually hot day. The only thing I disliked was the resort fee which added $30 to the rate, and I don't know what value it added.

Cheri G.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years. We've met one of the owners and everything was great. Now though , not so much. There was loud noise from pipes or something that we kept hearing from our room. The indoor hot tub was scalding even though they said it was fixed. The service for our New Year's dinner was incredibly poor! People who checked in a day before us said they had no power, couldn't use the toilet, no heat, etc. Management did nothing to accommodate guests. Nothing! They said this happens. Poor excuse! Really, the only redeeming part of this resort is the beautiful, cozy fireplace in the main area. Richard, the chef, was excellent. His food is outstanding! We are done here. Pretty sad.
google avatar

Katy H.

Yelp
Pros: all rooms face the water, beautiful grounds with scenic views, location is close to state parks and trails, Scandinavian breakfast included. Cons: small outdated rooms, bad pillows. This place is nice but nothing fancy, we enjoyed our stay but weren't wowed.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
We love this place, consistently the same...simple comfort in a beautiful setting! Set your expectations to simple, this place is a "Scandinavian" type of resort...think a step up from a hostel! You could not ask for a more beautiful and quiet place to stay on the North Shore! This resort sits down off the highway, so very little road noise! Rooms are simple but perfect! Staff is always welcoming and the facilities are clean and inviting! Make sure to walk out to the point, it's the best thing about the place! We have been coming for over 12 years, and will still continue to come multiple times each year!

Yelp
This was our second stay at Cove Point, our first was over 4th of July in 2017 as well. Once again, this lodge did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and they recently had updated/remodeled the rooms which was awesome! The grounds are well kept, everything was really clean throughout. The cove itself is beautiful and plenty of outdoor seating. The lodge does serve a traditional Scandinavian breakfast in the morning which the 'Jessica's of the world' would likely not appreciate since its pickled herring and cucumbers. They do have scrambled eggs everyday and their blueberry muffins are great. It's free for lodge guests and $6 for those at the villas. The dining area does turn into a restaurant in the evening which they recommend reservations but it's really not necessary. Limited food options but actually on the healthier side. The dessert choice is on point. Also, this resort has a restaurant right off the scenic highway, Cove Point Crossings, which is a great place to stop and eat. Their BLT, wings, and pizza's are all great choices and the outdoor seating is nice overlooking the lake.

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed at many places on the North Shore and this one ranks right up there as one of the best. Some of the main lodge rooms need to be updated with newer flat screen TV's and media players, this is true. They do have cottages that are privately owned, for rent also. These are very nice two level condos with decks and full kitchens, fireplace, whirlpool tubs, etc.... The location is really nice, as it is built on the site of a former commercial fisherman's homestead. The location of the old boathouse has been converted into a game room and has chairs outside on a covered deck and is situated, overlooking a sheltered cove, with a walking trail out to the point. In the summertime, they have canoes and kayaks available and bikes to rent. We went recently in the winter and they have snowshoes for use and a fire pit outside. You can sit and listen to the ice crackle as it is pushed into the cove, or you can sit inside the "boathouse" and stay warm by the wood stove as you play a game. The main lodge has a bar and dining room that opens in the afternoon and a huge fireplace and cozy seating with games and reading materials. Free wireless access is available everywhere in the lodge or cottages. The high season rates are, well, high ! Look for off-season specials if you want to save money. The staff is been very kind and helpful.

Roberta J.

Yelp
Beautiful location, grounds are lovely. Everything is clean and well managed. Great staff. Excellent COVID-19 precautions. Wonderful breakfasts. Ginger cookies!!!! Wi-fi sucks, unfortunately. Fox Sports North not on cable so no Twins games. Beds comfortable but rooms in the lodge bldg quite small. Still, I would return.
google avatar

Jason F.

Yelp
I travel a lot so take my review with a grain of salt... The decor in the room I stayed was very outdated and really had zero creature comforts that I'm accustomed to in hotel/resorts. The TV is s tube version and is only 20" at most. I get that I'm not here to watch tv but come on this is ridiculous. The chairs in the room are uncomfortable. The view of the lake is awesome though and is the saving grace. The continental breakfast in the morning flat out sucks! Cafeteria style eggs, warm milk for the cereal (milk wasn't on ice) no real fruit selections. I ate somewhere else the next day for breakfast. Like I said the saving grace is the big lake out our window/balcony.

Caroline O.

Yelp
Amazing experience!! Beautiful views!!! Very nice staff!!! Also super clean and overall great place!!! Had an exceptional time here will be back!! Thanks for the great time!

Ryan D.

Yelp
We paid and reserved a specific room on the 3rdfloor for the sole purpose of the sunrise view and was not only not given that room, but they put us in a very small room on the ground level with the room next to us on a porch able to look in the room as the bed was right next to the window. Was unable to enjoy the sunrise. We had a great experience two years ago-which is why picked there again . The food menu changed and it was a bit spendy for area. They did attempt to correct their error on the room mix up by offering a sweater. Just don't know if it was enough to persuade us for our next trip to the north shore.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
We have stayed at the lodge several times, and love the setting. View of the lake from the room (don't have to get up to see the sunrise!) and a whirlpool tub in the room. The bathroom vanity is small, but adequate. Staff is very friendly, everyone you pass asks how the stay is. The bar staff is very friendly and mixed us a Cove Point Bulldog, which was delicious. The complimentary breakfast is not wonderful, though. Dry scrambled eggs. Someone needs to figure out how to keep the eggs more moist and flavorful. Poppy seed muffins were dry, too. Blueberry muffins were better. Yogurt and granola were good, but how can that go wrong? We ate breakfast one morning and found other places for the other mornings. The Crossings up the hill is great. Love their pizza and great service!
google avatar

Tasha G.

Yelp
Overall this place gets a 7 out of 10 from the hubby and me. The good: Friendly staff, great views of the lake, super close to area attractions, and bonfire and s'mores each night (love!) The bad: The food was "meh". The options weren't anything to write home about but if you're trying to keep things cheap it will do the job. They served a "Scandinavian continental breakfast" which simply translates to scrambled eggs with the option of adding cucumbers, tomatoes, fish, cheese, and/or ham to the top. There was also a couple choices of muffins, toast, and cereal. We made the mistake of going to the breakfast buffet towards the end of the serving window, and as we expected, things were pretty picked over and getting cold. For lunch/dinner time we tried out the Cove Point Crossings restaurant which is a short drive up the hill from the main lobby but still considered part of the hotel. We ordered some boneless buffalo wings to share. Nothing special about them but you get quite a bit for the price (~1lb for $10). They also had an OK selection of beer and lots of options of hard liquor along with a happy hour they run from 3-6pm daily. All in all, we'll definitely stay here again if the price is right. We happened to use a Crowd Cut deal for this stay and it helped out a ton.

Pad E.

Yelp
My family loved our cabin. It was spacious and well equipped. The master bedroom had a 180 degree view of the lake. We watched the sunrise from our bed. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
This place was a complete disappointment. For nearly $200 it should have been a decent stay in the middle of winter. The room was small, the pictures online did it no justice. There was a space between the bed and the wall too narrow for a vacuum, who knows the last time that was cleaned. The continental breakfast was just down right terrible, hard boiled eggs and pickled herring might be traditional and all but seriously the only other option was hard leftover dinner rolls, plain bagels, or some off brand cereal. The best part of this stay by far was the restaurant up the hill. I believe it was called Northern Lights Cafe. Amazing home cooked food at more than fair prices. Had a Elk Shepards pie and it was exactly what I needed after a day of Snowshoeing. It was a local place where the locals came in and everyone knew their names.

Zach M.

Yelp
If you are looking for a JW Marriot, stay in Minneapolis. If you're looking for a great lodge or cabin to get AWAY from hustle and bustle in, this might (should) be your place. Quaint decor, ample amenities, GORGEOUS lake view and a Scandinavian breakfast waiting for you in the AM. Cove Point - you nailed it! We stayed here prior to moving further up along the north shore and this is close enough a drive from Duluth that travelers coming from the Twin Cities can still make it up by early evening yet it's far enough away from everything that it allows you to breathe and relax. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I wouldn't let someone who claims a vacation getaway destination is TOO quiet dictate your decisions. Bring that book, bring the slippers, and stop counting how many coffees you've drank...you're on vacation and it's fine!

Yelp
I would give this lodge 5 stars for the lodging. We stayed in the Bear's Den cottage with my husband and I and our 2 year old son and 11 week old infant. The setting is beautiful, the cottage was clean and well appointed, and the master bedroom is fantastic! I would also give the staff of the hotel and the dining room 5 stars, they were all helpful and kind. The dining sucks. Plan to eat elsewhere. Here was my experience in the dining room and at the Crossings (copied and pasted from the customer survey they included with our stay): The manager at the restaurant handled my issue well. He "comped" our meal to help retain customer satisfaction. However, I would have been happy to have paid for our meal rather than deal with the situation presented to us. On the first day after a long day of driving, we went to Crossings for dinner. When we walked in, instead of being greeted, we were told, "Just so you know we are really busy. It will be a long wait for food and we are out of pizza." We chose to eat off the property. On our second day, since we did not want to give Crossings a try again, we chose to eat in the dining room. Our whole family was there (me, my husband, a 2 year old, and an 11 week old infant). Normally we would not have chosen to eat in the formal restaurant with our little ones, however we were too tired to leave the property and we were already treated rudely at Crossings. We arrived at the dining room at 6:30. The hostess was busy cleaning a table for the couple in front of us. We waited for quite a while. Finally, at 6:40, a young man (he seemed to be a bus boy or assistant) seated us. We ordered our 2 year old's meal right away. His meal came at about 7:30. We ordered a flatbread appetizer and the chicken and pork rib eye meals. By 8:00 our son was DONE. In order not to disturb the other customers, I had my husband take him back to our cottage while I waited for our food with my infant. At that point (1 hour, 20 min after we had been seated), we had still not received our appetizer. I asked to talk to the manager and he did come over and tried to resolve the issue as best as he could. He did not charge us for any of our food and drinks which was nice, however this was still a frustrating experience. I asked for our food to go so I could bring the meals to the cottage to eat with my husband. Our food finally came to our table at 8:26. Almost a full 2 hours after we entered the restaurant.

Yelp
Gorgeous accommodations. Right on the water. Close to a couple fun restaurants and bars. Close to lutsen. Very cozy.

Yelp
We ATE at Cove Point Lodges dining room...so this review is about the food not the accommodations...and in the end the "3" rating reflects that this is hotel food. High points for the supremely friendly staff - from when we walked in until we left. The scenic space right on the edge of Lake Superior was fantastic.  But...we came to eat... Had a tenderloin appetizer on flat-bread drizzled with balsamic which was actually pretty tasty but a little chewy which made me think it might not be tenderloin. Partner had soup (not quite memorable enough two days later to recall details)...pork chop with apple and mashed sweet potato...ok dish.  I had a salmon dish...came with a pretty basic side salad but when the dish arrived it also had half a plate of Caprese salad; in this case diced tomato and mozzarella  cheese over lettuce greens - two salads which was odd.  The salmon was sizable, favorable, moist, but very minimally warm (nearly cold) and served with cold pineapple and strawberries.   The waitress said it was meant to be served that way but did warm it up a bit for me. This might be a good lunch option but room temperature salmon for dinner was out of place.  I also had a martini for dinner; taste was ok but it was under shaken and not icy cold.   Tab for the meal was just shirt of $100 which didn't quite meld with the hotel food experience. It met our needs for a convenient later evening dinner after a day of driving, but was not any more than mediocre.

Yelp
Love this place! The price is right, the employees are friendly, the view is spectacular and attention is paid to quality. There is a huge fireplace in the main room with comfy couches for lounging. A substantial breakfast is included with the room and there is a lovely dining room in the lodge. The rooms are quiet and have great showers! It's our second time here and we'll definitely return.

Yelp
Celebrated our anniversary there. Had a romantic room with fireplace and hot tub overlooking the water. Could hear the waves hitting the rocks. Saw the sun come up. Place was clean. Staff was very friendly. Food was good. Lots of activities. Very beautiful resort. We will be returning hopefully soon.

Yelp
I am here right know as I write this. The location of this place is great right on the lake. Rooms are ok small but clean. However this is one the most poorly managed places I have ever stayed. First thing I get here on Tuesday and find out the bar and grill is closed Monday and Tuesday. Main restaurant opens at 5 to 8, Really it's mid July! Vending machine for pop is broke. The Grill is scheduled to be open Wednesday to Sunday noon to 8pm. So Wednesday I get back from a ride on the bike and go down to have a beer and burger at 3pm. No one in sight I ask the gal at the check in counter if the bar is open her response is yes but she is busy what do I want. Not can I help or I'll be with you in a second WHAT DO WANT. Here's the kicker the rooms are $200 a night. I will never stay here again. I never write reviews that's how bad this place is. Their are plenty of nice places to stay on the north shore stay in one those.

Yelp
Stayed in one of the cabins. They were beautiful and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive and the view was gorgeous. Didn't eat at the restaurant so don't know how that is. Many fun, family friendly, complimentary activities are offered. Overall a great stay.

Yelp
Not impressed. We arrived to Cove Point later than planned, received room 204 and while it had a stunning view, in my opinion it was below standards for price/location. The room smelled of something we could not make out. Urine? Burned coffee? Honestly we never figured it out. While it wasn't anything that'll kill a person, I expect much more when I see $245 on the bank statement for one night in an off peak season room. Toilet ran off/on all night along with faucet dripping occasionally. Hotel rooms aren't perfect but for this money in this area I was disappointed.

Yelp
Worst experience ever! Our anniversary was ruined by being given a dirty room, after they cleaned our room we found Pubic Hair all over the bathroom floor. Never had we had such bad service and the food was horrible! Not to mention the server laughing whe we found a bug in one of our cocktails. We wouldn't return here even if it was free. Avoid cove point at all costs it's not worth it. There are many places to stay that are nicer in the area.
