To say I was disappointed here would be an understatement but my wife had a better experience than I hence the three out of five instead of one/two. To start it seemed the night we visited they may have been short staffed or missing a manager - the three wait staff were doing their best but I’d say need some older/experienced guidance. The menu definitely sets up the belief that this will be a five star experience - but it falls short… The starters were by far the best experience of the night they arrived fairly quick and were delicious - zero issues here. An hour and 15 minutes after this our mains arrived, my wives was excellent exactly what she was expecting - my lamb shoulder was partially cold and lacking in quantity and quality with about 1/5 of what it was being gristle or bone/fat which was inedible. Other issues were trying to get attention of staff towards the end and unsure if it was the owner or someone else sat chatting to them instead of letting them clear up for the evening. A comment from my wife was that the room was fairly filled with smoke from the kitchen, some better ventilation required. All in all what seemed like it would be a delicate and nice experience turned into something that McDonalds could have rivalled for atmosphere and speed. Seems previous awards no longer represent what is possible at least on this night.

Where do I start with this amazing restaurant! Firstly when I was trying to book I was doing a solo trip and couldn't get a table for one online, but after a few emails to Siobhán she got one for me, which I'm so glad of now. Siobhán greeted me as I came in and was very friendly and helpful. I went for 3 courses and a glass of wine. They have a great wine list and the one I got was great, I heard others also loving their wine. For starters I got the Croquettas, they were so delicious, the mayo, the chorizo and cheese combination, it was great. Next up for the main, I choose the Noones free range chicken. This may be the best chicken dish I have had in my life, really crispy skin around the chicken breast, the chicken drumstick was super tender and the mash was perfect. This was such a great main, and for my side I had got the glazed carrots and they were absolutely divine. Lastly for the desert, I got the Chocolate orange delice, this was fantastic also although I was bursting at the brim by this point. The smooth creamy chocolate delice and the walnut and blueberry combo was perfect. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere was great, it was quiet for me which was great as I had a book, and the music also was very good. I love the decor as well, there are amazing paintings all along the wall upstairs and I wanted to go around looking at them as if in a gallery. From my seat as well I could also see out to the cliffs and water which was amazing. This was a truly amazing dining experience, thanks to the Cove Restaurant for giving me such a good time.

Cove restaurant and owner Siobhan exceeded any expectations we might have had ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The most beautiful , relaxed atmosphere. Our table overlooking the water was so special . Our dinners were delicious ! You can tell when someone loves the work they do . So much effort has gone into making the guests enjoy every moment. Our 50 th wedding Anniversary at Cove will be a night to remember . Thank you ⭐️⭐️

I went there with my family last night. It was 5 star from start to finish. The food was fantastic and so was the service. I would highly recommend the mussels as a starter.

You wouldn't think much from the fairly anonymous building but inside the restaurant is really nice. The menu was a problem for me - I wanted to try EVERYTHING. I settled for the baked beetroot starter which was delicious, but also enjoyed a good helping muscles. These were local and superb. My lamb with harissa main was delicious. There were plenty of good options on the wine list which were very reasonably priced compared to what I am used to in the UK. Service was very friendly, we received a warm welcome, everything went to the exactly the right pace. Overall, a very pleasing meal in a lovely restaurant. I hope I get a another chance to eat here.

This place is a treasure 'Cove' 😉. The ambience, personal welcome, high standard of food, delicious wine and fabulous service is a tribute to all involved. Please, please, keep your Chef. Best meal out I've had in ages. As Arnie would say..."I'll be back!"😎

Yelp
What a wonderful dining experience. Well-paced, beautifully plated and excellent food. Every dish was perfectly displayed and portioned and the flavors were unique well varied. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Fine dining like this is generally found where Michelin places stars. We had such a great night and the meal capped a great week in Dunfanaghy. Thank you!

Yelp
Fantastic gourmet menu! The beetroot goat cheese starter is magnificant! It cannot be missed! The monkfish main was very nice. And for dessert you must try the sticky toffee pudding!!

Yelp
Arrive early for an aperitif upstairs, where you order dinner. Then, you are led downstairs to your table. Sea bass on a bed of local greens was phenomenally flavorful. Wine list included a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand that was the perfect compliment to a great meal. The award is 4 stars rather than five, as we were kept waiting half an hour after submitting our credit card. Turns out that the bill must be paid at the reception desk on the way out. The food, though, was top quality in flavor and presentation. If you tour the north of Co. Donegal, you should eat here.
