Absolutely love Cow & Moon! Their high quality gelato is always super smooth and full of flavour. Great service too — friendly staff and quick to serve. We also love the tiramisu cake! Definitely one of the best gelato spots in Sydney!

I know this place many years. Finally went in and tried as no queue. I thought it's was on a cold winter night. Offered lots of flavour and most impressed one is basil and cheese. I chose black currant and blueberries, and mango. I was impressed with the first sip, its soooo smooth like icecream but both are sorbet. Also I liked not sweet and towards the end. Some are getter sweet when keep eating alsi can taste pulp in the sorbets... so yummy. As soon as I sat down after purchasing. Moen and more people arrived and filled the shop fully. I was lucky just before the crowd.

Google
Super yummy gelato and so many flavors. I got the poppy seed and orange and the mango sherbet in a small cup and I was one happy sweet-toothed individual. Generous portions and delicious gelato.

I came to Cow & The Moon late on a Friday night, and it was really busy. The shop isn't overly big, and the line snaked around the shop and out onto the road. Despite that, we were served quickly. Service was very efficient. Staff were knowledgeable about their flavours, the ingredients that were used to make the gelato, and flavour combinations. They patiently let people try different flavours and were helpful with their recommendations. Our server really knew which flavours paired well together. I had a small serve of gelato in a cone and had coffee and mango with macadamia nuts ($8.80). My friend also had a small serve and had cherry with chocolate and passionfruit. The gelato was easy to eat. It was light and airy. I particularly liked the passionfruit gelato. I also bought a 1 litre take-home pack ($29). As part of that, you get to choose 3 flavours. I got chocolate, mango sorbet and pistachio. Each flavour was really nice.

Google
🏆 Voted best ice cream in the world a couple years ago. It's yummy, really creative flavours. Spendy tho, at $8.80 for a small. You can get two flavours, but I really wish there were a 'tiny' that was one scoop and smaller.

Google
We have been looking to try Cow and the Moon gelato for a while now. They have certainly mastered the texture of the gelato. It is super creamy and beautifully crafted. They have interesting flavours like orange and poppyseed and Affogato. However, the experience is diminished by the fact the flavours blend as there is too much sugar. You could potentially close your eyes and barely identify the flavour ms as all you can taste after a while is sugar. If they use less sugar their product would be just simply amazing. Also the pricing is a bit weird. $8,90 for a small cup which is more like a medium - I wanted a small cup for my kids who really not use too much sugar… so I had to ask for a small portion but still pay $8,90. In contrast the medium was gigantic almost impossible for a person to finish for $9,90 so we paid for our little kids almost $40 plus myself and my husband all up nearly $60. A bit disappointing.

The Mog Champ

Google
The Mog Champ sends his regards. A fun name for an ice cream shop to begin with, I'd like to find the reasoning behind it. They've got some competition winning flavours too and a variety of other creative options. I went with their miso and malt after sampling that and white chocolate yuzu which was their signature flavour! Didn't know their smallest option could offer two flavours so I went with pistachio, which is a classic favourite. Definitely a worthy dessert stop in Newtown! Thanks Cow & The Moon! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

First class gelato, amazing flavours & generous serves. The caramel popcorn was divine!! Very busy but the queues move quickly. Congrats to the staff for keeping cool under the pressure.

Yelp
My family and I love grabbing some ice cream when we're on holiday after eating a meal. We walked by this place and walked in. We got lucky because after we waited to order, there was a huge line behind us. They have a variety of ice cream flavors plus other items on their menu like cakes and teas. The staff was very patient with us as my sister wanted to order a milkshake which is different in the States compared to Australia. My sister wanted to make sure that what she expected in a milkshake would be understood and reciprocated to the staff. Even though they don't normally make a milkshake like the States do, they did their best. I enjoyed my ice cream and it was perfect to end the night.

Yelp
Was told this place won the world best gelato in 2014, so have to check out this place. Luckily we came at the dinner time so there wasn't a line out the store and down the street as warned by the locals and reviewers here. The gelato was creamy and light, so it delivered the flavor but not too heavy that sat in stomach. We ordered the award winning flavor - Mandorla Affogato (a twist of Affogato) which has bits of caramelized almond within the creamy vanilla background. I didn't get a strong espresso flavor as it would have, but the ratio of almond bits and gelato was just right - occasionally crunchiness hidden within the creaminess of gelato. The second flavor we ordered was the poached strawberry with balsamic vinegar. The acidity from balsamic vinegar and strawberry was muted yet complimented the gelato base. It was not too sweet, yet there's a hint of the balsamic vinegar and strawberry. We were too busy getting into the gelato before taking a picture, but check out this place if you are nearby. Here are some pictures of the store, which also offers coffee and cakes.

Yelp
Cow & The Moon was named world's best gelato makers in 2014 so I decided it was a must-visit place. After a taste test, I settled on the pistachio gelato, and I'm happy that I did. It's incredibly creamy and the nutty flavor really stood out! I chose one scoop but they let you select two delightful flavors which makes it a fantastic deal. Maybe it's because I had high hopes but to be honest, while great, it didn't blow me away and was comparable to other solid gelato places in Sydney. Overall, it is worthwhile to anyone visiting Sydney and close to the city.

Yelp
DELICIOUS GELATO ! My wife and I were in the area and spotted this very busy gelato restaurant. We didn't want to miss an opportunity to try some gelato as the reviews were sensational. What can I say....we were over the moon with our selections !
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
This is about as good as Gelato gets! I tried 7 flavors while I was there, so many, they kept my second cup in the freezer while I sampled the first 4. My favorite was the Mandoria Affagato but the staff suggested Mandarin Sorbet was OTT!
google avatar

Clare L.

Yelp
The absolute best gelato in Sydney, hands down. Every flavour is a winner!!! My faves are cherrymania and passionfruit (and all the rest)!
google avatar

Yelp
Always a crowd pleaser! There unfortunately is a line down outside to get in most times I've been. It moves quickly if there aren't to many 'try before you buy' people ahead of you. Great selection of flavours. Affogato, Tiramisu, Passion fruit cream, Pistachio Gelato, Coffee, Popcorn, Salted Caramel, Raspberry Cheesecake and the list goes on. Generous scoops for a small $6 cup. Worth the wait - hell yes!

Yelp
The most amazing ice cream in the inner west, treat yourself to this delicious experience.

Yelp
Did the cow jump over the moon on this one? I don't think so, because perhaps that sweet milk of hers helped to make some of the best gelato I have ever tasted in my life. A friend of mine had given me one suggestion for this whole Sydney trip I was on- check out Cow & The Moon, and get their gelato. If more than once, then yes, but I had to experience it at least one time before I left the city. An hour of walking west of Sydney and some good sites along the way, I had made it to this shop and saw before me a plethora of amazing gelato. The little shop had no queue when I rolled in, and the two workers behind the counter were incredibly sweet and recommended me some flavors to try. Apparently, they are national and international winners with their gelato, and I believe it! From the flavors I tried, I picked up their Passion Fruit gelato and it was to die for. So much substance without it being overly sweet... my goodness. The servings here are so generous that even a small with two flavors should suffice. I can't recall which of their other ones had won awards, but believe me when I say that everything was good. Thanks Cow & The Moon for an epic gelato experience unparalleled to anything I've had before.

Yelp
Wow what can I say but yum. The flavours are absolutely delicious. I had the 3 deal flavours cup, I indulged in the dunks chocolate, the vanilla bean gelato and raspberry and white chocolate. Will definitely be returning as that was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Without a doubt the best gelato in town. Parking is a challenge and the lines can be long but this place is well worth the wait. In addition to the extensive and mouth watering gelato and sorbet selection, the affogato is a standout as are the cakes. Outstanding: 82.3/100.

Yelp
Can I give 10 stars? Easily best gelato in Sydney and apparently the world! We got married in Italy and had gelato the day after our wedding, had many trips to Italy, and lived in NYC the past four years, so humbly feel I can say I've had a few exceptional gelato in my life and this was = off the charts, shut the door, hold the phone kinda good. I almost don't want to promote them because they are so awesome and will get overrun, not that they need any marketing. Their product speaks for itself! BEST IN THE WORLD in Rimini. Just do yourself a favor, move to Enmore and make this part of your weekly routine. Re: flavors. Only problem is choosing one or two, they are all phenomenal. But if you are reading this review sometime close to when I posted it- I had hazelnut Rocher and raspberry cheesecake. Can't recommend them highly enough! In addition: lovely environs and great service. Really nice staff. Thus wanting to give 10 stars! If my waistline and wallet would allow it, I'd come every day.

Yelp
Wonderful best ice creams in Australia with exceptional flavours always a treat. Other desserts too

Yelp
Thanks to a YouTube review of this place, I am here from many thousands of miles away. Great flavors, great service, and great tasting. Next time I am in Sydney, I will definitely come back to Cow and Moon. They have really unique flavors and all of the ones I tried were really good.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg some of the best ice cream I have ever had! I got salted caramel and affogatto flavors were amazing!

Andrea L.

Yelp
This was good, but i couldn't quite tell what was so bonkers about it. I've had plenty of gelato and artisanal ice cream in LA, SF, NY. I went out of my way to try this "award winning" gelato. Cool to see that there are competitions like that. An Italian friend recommended it to me and she said the winning flavor was the affogato. I had this one and it was good. I sampled the black sesame and didn't think there was enough black sesame flavor coming through to warrant a full size of it. Garden Creamery in SF still wins the black sesame contest for me.
google avatar

Mya Noor S.

Yelp
I loved it this is the best restaurant ever if you want to get ice cream this is the place I got the espresso at the strawberry white chocolate it is the best one ever but the thing is is that your little annoyed when you ask for or what do you ask for and I suppose I am the best try but I totally recommend
google avatar

Ronny T.

Yelp
Believe the hype! Gelato here is awesome, and lots of unique variety. Service was excellent and friendly. There may be quite a line because it's so good and they tend to you individually. I'll be back to try some of the other flavors!
google avatar

Yelp
The best gelato I've ever had. They have so many options, luckily the employee was patient enough to let me spend 10 minutes just trying all the different ones. I ended up buying a medium size which let me get 3 different flavours. The serving size is really generous so I think the small would've sufficed but I really just like all the different flavours so much so I bought the bigger size. Their gelato is smooth and not overly sweet. It's creamy but not heavy. They've got seating available if you want to enjoy it indoors, which I did with my friend since it was a little chilly outside. If you haven't tried their gelato before you should definitely get on it!

Yelp
Cow & the Moon only appeared on my radar after a friend of mine raved about this place near the Enmore Theatre and being the food adventurist I wanted to check it out. It's a small cafe nestled along Enmore Road. The cafe looks very inviting on the inside and grabs your attention straight away because when you look up the first thing your going to notice is the amount of award plaques this place has accumulated. Gold and first place labels are everywhere. This instantly got me excited and optimistic. The cafe does a range of normal cafe style treats and coffees which I'm sure are probably as amazing but the reason I was here was to try some ice cream so I managed to stay focused. The ice cream costs $5 for the small size $6.50 for Medium and $8 for the large size. The serving is either in a cone or cup. I decided to go cup so I could take my time and savour the flavours because sometimes with a cone it's a race against the clock. I chose medium which gave me the option of 3 flavours, I opted for pistachio, Mandorla Affogato and Delizia. The Delizia was a chocolate orange flavour and reminded me of Terry's Chocolate Orange. Delicious combination and this flavour perfected it like the famous chocolate egg. The Mandorla Affogato is a combination of caramelised roasted almonds and a single-origin coffee sauce with a Madagascan-vanilla-bean base. Once again we Yelpers hear those famous words 'Single Origin' and we know we are about to encounter something special. This flavour is the stores world winning flavour and an absolute must try. Gelato at its best. The flavour is so smooth and soft and it's a world winner so don't take my word for it. Take the Italian judges. The Pistachio for me was good but nothing exceptional have had more flavoursome pistachio ice creams in eastern restaurants. If I had only gotten two flavours I would have been disappointed but given the awesome flavouring of the other two all was forgiven. Delightful family run cafe that has no intention of franchising. They are happy to run out of this delightful cafe. Will certainly be back here to try out some other award winning flavours and maybe even some pastries which did look amazing.

Yelp
We came here after going to a restaurant in another suburb. It wasn't that we didn't have dessert before we left it was just that, apparently, some of us have a larger dessert stomach. Parking is always interesting around these streets but you can usually score one later in the evening which we did. It was raining and cold, yet there was a queue. The tables were all taken and I wondered what the fuss was about this place. The gelato is very good and it is pretty cool to wait in the queue craning your neck to read the little labels to see what flavours are on offer whilst the rest of the party forage for a table and chairs. There is no "menu" to browse so if it hadn't been for the Yelp app and looking at all the reviews I wouldn't have had a clue as to where to start. The balsamic strawberry was a bit of disappointment as I got the strawberry in one spoonful and the next spoonful was balsamic. Not sure what happened there. The Mandorla Affogato was the pick followed by Lemon & Ginger (nice chucks of crystalised ginger). I didn't really need to have a second dessert but this was a worthwhile visit.
google avatar

Tristan L.

Yelp
We visited at around 8:30pm on a Monday night. There was still a queue but not too long and just enough time to read reviews to find out which gelato to get, if you are reading this in line I will cut to the chase: Get the Mandorla Affogato (it's the winner), the rest is up to you. We also got the chocolate and stracciatella, which were great too. There are tables and seats but you need to be quick to grab one. It is also cash only.
google avatar

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Friday night at Cow and the Moon, feels like you are lining up to get into an exclusive club. The queue slithered out of the shop, down the footpath and around the corner. Obviously this shows how good the ice cream is, especially after being awarded the 2016 Australian Gelato Grand Champion! There is over 25 different flavours from pretty pink Turkish delight, salted caramel, Mandorla Affogato, stracciatella and so many more delicious delights. Normally my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but a small cup entitles you to two generous servings for $5.50. I ordered the peanutella and the Morello cherry which was the perfect post dinner sweet tooth treat. The Cow and the Moon is definitely worth the walk if you are coming from Newtown and certainly gives Gelato Messina a run for their money!
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
Velvety creamy goodness... only a bus ride away from Sydney CBD. Ever since I read the article on C&M being the world's best gelato makers, I have been wanting to come here. If I had known it's so close and convenient, I would have probably gone a lot sooner. Compared to the refreshing sorbet like flavors, I love me some creamy nutty gelato :) Aside from the Mandoria Affogato (obvious choice), I got the hazelnut and debated heavily between the chocolate and coffee flavor (coffee won). Love the consistency and flavor of the gelato. I am glad it's in Newtown. Otherwise I will be in deep trouble (from consuming too much gelato)!
google avatar

Bushra H.

Yelp
Be ready for a line when you come, and you absolutely must come. The gelato is great! There are a variety of flavors, particularly if you like to experiment. I ordered one that was a mix of vanilla, chocolate shards, and candied orange. Incredible, you must try. I've also tried the pistachio, which was also pretty good. They have limited outdoor seating so be aware of this. You can try the flavors before you order so take advantage!
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
I was encouraged to provide a review after way too many visits to Cow & Moon. There is almost always a line up so if that is your metric of good, this place wins for sure. What draws people in the first time is the international win in Italy of the BEST GELATO IN THE WORLD. No joke. They were one of three gelato places in Australia invited to Italy and they won with their creation - an almond affogato flavour. Yes, it has espresso in the flavour so that is a plus for me. But there are also some other ingredients - carmelised almonds. Delicious. BUT you can't buy it to take away in a large container. They only sell it in cones and cups there. I actually only had it once - there are so many other flavours to try. Vanilla Bean is awesome and intense. But lately they experiment in their 'gelato lab' and come up with new ones all the time. chocolate and plum was yesterday's incarnation. But really you have to try what they have and they have great people working so you can easily try a few before deciding. I've never pushed my luck since by the third or fourth I definitely want more than just a taste. Yes, they have a solid chocolate and it may even be better than Messina but you will need to do side by side tasting to make a final decision. Yes, you go there for ice cream but they have sorbets and some pastries and of course coffee.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Tried the award winning gelato and it was dam fine! Cherry ripe flavour was also delicious. The night i picked to go there of course coincided with everyone else wanting to go! Queued for about 30 mins and finally we got in the store, so be prepared to wait! Unique and interesting flavours, Even for those fussy people out there, i'm sure you would be able to find a flavour that satisfies your fussiness!

Yelp
The Cow and the Moon, man I was over the moon when I tried this gelato. It was soooo good - I tried the sorbet, chocolate, and it was truly magical. A small contained two big scoops and it was massive. We wondered into this place after a War On Drugs concert, and boy am I glad we did. My friends stocked up on anything creamy, but I settled for chocolate sorbet mixed with a blueberry sorbet. So glad I did, I was stuffed within a couple bites. I really love a good dessert place that empathizes (or substitutes) for the lactose intolerant side in some, or all, of us. I heard this place won best gelato in the world, so to try it outside of my country is kind of a big deal, especially as someone who is very Yelp-y. I would definitely try this place, sitting in the corner of Newtown on Enmore road. It adds to the already-delicious food walk you can partake in when coming to this area. Creamy, dense, huge servings for price, good customer service AND vegan options. Really can't complain. The cow jumped over the moon, but man, I swear I was already over it.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
I don't know if this is the best ice cream in Sydney, but it is really good. It's no surprise that they are always winning awards. They are known for their balsamic strawberry ice cream, which is truly fantastic, but the banana salted caramel is my personal favorite. We are spoiled for choice when it comes to great ice cream in Sydney. One thing is for certain, this is worth the hype. The lines can be very long, and there isn't really anywhere to sit, but it's still worth it.
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
*The rating is given on the world champion flavour only. In order to understand what the fuss is all about, it is important to acknowledge that each gelateria only submitted one flavour to be judged at the Gelato World Tour. Meaning, only one flavour at Cow and the Moon was dubbed the number one gelato in the world: Almond Affogato (also known as Mandorla Affogato). The verdict: I loved it! I usually don't like nuts in my gelato, but the caramalised crunchy bits scatted within the Mandora Affogato were roasted to perfection. Overall, it's sweet, but not dead sweet. On a side note, the other two flavours that I picked were hazelnut and peach, both were average and too creamy for my liking.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
Really great gelato and excellent service on a rainy Sydney , Sunday afternoon. The staff was friendly, efficient and I have traveled globally and had a lot of gelato -so I pretty sure this is one of the better places I've been to. Tried the strawberry and balsamic- as well as passionfruit -but I found the chocolate and lemon to be the best
google avatar

Zvezdana O.

Yelp
All the gelato here is amazing! I would know... They let me try SO MANY! The staff are soooo so super nice here. They are very welcoming and want you to try everything! I was all set on the banana and salted caramel and didn't even try it, because I'm a whore for salted caramel anything, thinking that was going to be the hero of my evening (yeah, I'm channeling Matt Preston here).... but NO! Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely fabulous, but the dark horse was the popcorn flavour! I'm getting popcorn flavour every time I go. I'm going to be in the area Friday night, I'm already planning my next pit stop, lol. And I'm getting three flavours! Popcorn again and two new ones! Dare I say it? Can it be better than sex? I hate it when people say stuff like that... I always think to myself "oh shut up, you obviously don't know how to... [censored]"... but um, this ice cream might be right up there with the deed... Well, almost, lol. As close as you can get!
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Heaving on a Friday night is always a good sign! We followed the crowds and ooooh-ed and aaah-ed over the many delicious and interesting sounding flavours. I opted for a great mix of passion fruit cream, tangy yet sweet, and lemon sorbet, uber zesty and refreshing. Two scoops in a tub was around $6.50 - tasty and large portions. You can't go wrong. Unless of course you pick the apple and wasabi gelato.
google avatar

Mai Y.

Yelp
Apparently it was voted best gelato in the world a few years ago so of course I had to try it. All in all it didn't wow me but was still a decent place to get gelato. I had the pistachio and the classic vanilla bean. Both were good. We also got the coconut to go but it started melting on our drive home. We had to put it in the freezer for a while before we could eat it again. It would be great if they had a better way of keeping the ice cream cold for to go orders.

Marie E.

Yelp
All the flavors we tried were excellent so we got 4 - strawberry balsamic, affogato, cheesecake and chocolate. The scoops were generously sized, the gelato was creamy and sweet but not too sweet. The flavors really shone through.
google avatar

Naveed T.

Yelp
This is about 20-25 km from our place, yet we have been going at least a couple of times a month since we discovered this place a couple of years back. The gelato is consistently incredible and easily the best I have had in Sydney. For first timers would highly recommend trying Mandola Affogato and pistachio (if you are lucky to visit on a day when they have these flavours on!). Though you can't really go wrong with any.
google avatar

Tamer M.

Yelp
Ok, prepare the pitchforks and the yelling, this place is good but honestly not great. I think that Messina and N2 have better quality gelato, and their flavours are better. So yes, all my friends want to kill me because I don't absolutely love this place. So let me explain I think that Messina has better quality gelato, and the more exciting flavours. I'm not saying this not good gelato, it is good. But everyone swears it is the best gelato that they have ever had - and it's not. Especially as normally you might have to wait in line - and it is not worth waiting in line for. So come here if you are in the area. But personally not worth traveling for or raving about. So bring on the massacre! How dare I not say that this is heaven on earth?!?! I know, I know.
google avatar

Guida B.

Yelp
I come here almost every day for a coffee and they never fail to greet with a smile, some friendly banter and a great cup of liquid goodness! I like my coffee on the stronger side and found the large latte was a little weak... but now I just order an extra shot and it's all good! The ice cream is a-maze-ing! I'm not usually a huge fan of ice cream and I'm not particular about where I buy it (ice cream is ice cream right?)... but this place is different! So creamy, so tasty, so exciting to see all the cool flavours! It's a bit of a drag when there's a line out the door... but we live nearby so we go during the day when it's a little quieter!
google avatar

Genevieve H.

Yelp
Way too close to my home. This is my favorite gelato in Sydney and I have travelled far and wide for ice-cream. They have unique flavors, as well as the staples. Last night I had 'Open Sesame' which was a choc sauce and sesame seed ice-cream, as well as the rich and also a bit minty tasting Chocolate & Rosemary flavor.
google avatar

Mo S.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream! I went there with my sister and we both got a size small but it's huge! Definitely worth the price. I got the recommended affogato and the cookies and cream. Loved the creamy texture and the sweet taste. We went on a weekday so there was no line but I heard it can get busy on Fridays and on the weekends.

Ann C.

Yelp
Truly the best gelato I've tasted and the only that I've tried in Australia so far. I highly recommend the strawberry balsamic which my server recommended. I also enjoyed the affogato that seems to be everyone's favorite, and thought the combo of both flavors blended stunningly well! Eating here requires a bit of a wait, at least on the Saturday I visited. There always seems to be a line, but it's entirely worth it. Go!

Yelp
As a gelato lover, I was told Cow & The Moon had the best ice cream in the city. They delivered. I don't know if the best gelato, being messina as freaking delicious as it is, but definitely is a worthy contender. A local, family-owned, gelato miracle. I love Newtown and Enmore, with so many little, cosy business to sit in and be surprised, and this is the perfect example. We didn't have to wait any queues, could sit and see people pass by while enjoying one of the best ice creams I have ever had. I had two balls, one lemon and other yoghurt, and both were delicious. Lemon sorbet is usually great, but rarely stands out. The average lemon sorbet is so good that is difficult to alter the formula and still succeed. Somehow this one had a more natural flavour, like they had used lemon peel in the perfect way or concentration, point is, it was amazing. The yoghurt one was soft, creamy and sweet, but with a strong flavour. Totally recommended. Gf asked for a chocolate/raspberry. I'm not a chocolate lover, but this tasted as real chocolate. If you're a chocolate junkie, Cow and the Moon may be responsible for your future diabetes. Do not worry, you'll enjoy every single step of your way there. As for the raspberry, probably was too god to be defined with words. It tasted like picking raspberries as a child, when you picked the perfect one, perfectly sweet, just slightly sour. It tasted like the flavours that surprised you when you were young but no longer do. It was like if I had not eat ice cream for a long time, like I had a sugar deficit or like a glass of water after a marathon. That raspberry ice cream was BEAUTIFUL, and I can't wait to go have another one soon.

Yelp
The Cow and Moon offers totally delicious ice cream in an extraordinary array of flavours such as blood orange, elderberry and lime and coconut. I really liked the atmosphere - rather than the scoop-and-run mentality that epitomises most ice cream parlours, people were happily devouring their ice creams whilst staying in the shop. Bright tables and chairs were scattered higgledy-piggledy around the shop and on the pavement outside, and there was barely a seat to be found. A mish-mash of families and first dates meant there was plenty of potential for people watching, and of course ice cream eating. What is most surprising about Cow and Moon is that it's not just ice cream that they're famous for... their coffee has been described as being some of the best in Sydney. So, if you want fabulous ice cream or fabulous coffee, or both, then the Cow and Moon is the perfect venue for you. I tried the lemon sorbet, which was zesty, zingy and fresh. But my favourite was the strawberry and balsamic vinegar - creamy vanilla ice cream with swirls of real strawberry tinged with balsamic; Indescribably delicious. The only thing left to say is that their ice cream left me over the moon...sorry, couldn't resist.

Yelp
The queue is ridiculous for a gelato shop, because of their world title. But it's all worth it! This is the silkiest and most smooth gelato I have ever tasted! They must work so hard to get the texture just right. We ordered one medium cup and one large cup, and there were 7 flavours in total, including affogato, cookies, mango and passionfruit. After a while, they all melted together creating a very interesting taste. The affogato is definitely my favourite, well balanced, rich yet subtle flavour......

Yelp
Cow in The Moon is the home of Mandorla Affogato, the world winning gelato. It started with Enmore's favourite gelateria to one of the most popular gelateria in Sydney. The cafe it self is simple with cozy and warm vibe, decorated with wood furnitures, artsy paintings and neon ice cream art. sweet ice cream. yum!

Yelp
This place is not over rated. They have so much love in their ice cream and you can tell when you eat it. It's thick, flavour some, creamy, and some choices have chunky surprises such as biscuit or caramel incorporated in them etc. I ordered the affagato flavour which was amazing. When I came to order - they give you 2 flavours for $5 which seemed quite cheap! They can somehow scoop the ice cream to fit more in a serving... Amazing!!

Yelp
Winning their world title was the push I needed to go to Cow and the Moon (C&M). They were always on my list but never made it there. The layout looks like a typical coffee shop - barista, cakes and instead of more cakes, two fridges of precious gelato. There are about a dozen small tables but with the hype at the moment, it would be better to get a cone and enjoy peacefully on the street. MANDORLA AFFOGATO The world champion coffee and Madagascan vanilla gelato base with caramelised almonds and salted caramel is a clever but calculated twist on the affogato flavour. Each element was sourced and tested until the perfect balance was found and it is not a fluke that this flavour is so addictive. This combination of ingredients is superb in every way - taste, fragrance and texture. TURKISH DELIGHT If you're a fan of Turkish Delight (TD) you will love this. It has just enough TD flavour to keep it interesting and it is like eating better version of TD without the stickiness and richness in a velvety creamy base. CARAMELISED FIGS AND WALNUT Beautiful flavour where the two main ingredients do compliment each other in terms of flavour and texture. If you're a fan of figs, it is a must-have. Conclusion C&M lived up to the hype and exceeded my expectations. It is reasonably priced where a Medium includes 3 flavours at $6.50 for the quality on offer and the fact they are generous with the elements folded through - every spoon had a nut. Went lunchtime on a Saturday and there was a 5 minute queue than, I've heard of a 40 minute wait at night. 5-star no doubt and mandorla affogato was one of the best gelato I've had. The layout could be improved as with their success, long queues line up perpendicular to the display fridges making it hard to see the flavours on offer and this actually slows down service. Simple fix would be to list the flavours of the day on a large TV. @thesydneynoob

Yelp
Look, their ice-cream is great. But they used to have a discretionary kids' price. It wasn't listed, but you would pay less if you only wanted a small amount (their $5 minimum serve is huge). That has gone. I used to buy a take-home pack whenever I bought my kids ice cream there. And usually a coffee for me. Now I am hit for the $10 minimum, even though I get only a small amount so my young kids don't turn into blubber balls. I pay the $10. But I never buy a tub from them now. Or a coffee. Sorry, but it just grates

Yelp
Mama Mia, a cow would totally jump over the moon to reach the out-of-this-world gelato they're serving up here .. Living in Newtown has it's perks, and one of the greatest ones is having this gelato corner shop down the street. Self-control has reached new heights, as I walk past numerous times daily and can't help but be intoxicated by the sweet smell of espresso and lovely faces of delighted customers spooning away their $6 cup of goodness.... Oh wait! That's why I've only been here twice; it's light-years away from being within my daily vice budget.... The absolute only downside to Cow and Moon is the price of their AMAZING gelato. A one scoop cup runs around $5, with the other sizes ascending about a dollar each size from there. And with so many fantastic flavors to choose from, you really can't settle for just one... Go with a friend, grab a large size, three flavors, and settle into one of the sidewalk-side tables on a sunny day. The staff is kind and really great about letting you try all of the flavors! I've tantalized my tastebuds with passion fruit, strawberry balasamic, dulce de leche, pistachio, mandarin, salted caramel, and too many others to name! Strawberry balsamic is stewing with berry chunks and swirls of happiness; it's by far my favorite! Their affogatos are also lovely ($6.10), and their coffee is some of the best this side of Enmore! Give it a go ... it's bliss.
